I am 3 weeks post op and now scared to death these meds are going to slow me down in my weight loss journey. My goal is to be off all my meds as the weight comes off but until then is it sabotaging my weight loss? Does anyone else have this concern?
  3. Want to get back on track and lose the weight. Any help, advice etc is appreciated. I find that I don't even remember how I was eating when I lost weight. I would like to know how others manage their diet. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I am 6 days out from surgery, and have been loosing about a pound a day. Until this morning, I weighed myself this morning and was +1.3 pounds. Is this normal? I know your body can fluctuate weight daily, but still a pound and a half gained??
  5. Hi all, so I have a question because I'm freaking out a bit. The day off my bypass 13 days ago I went into the hospital weighing 275lbs. After surgery my weight went up 10lbs while still in the hospital which I understand is from the IV fluids and what not. However after coming home, I dropped to 264lbs and in the past three days I have gained 3lbs. I know that's not a drastic gain but I'm still concerned. Has anyone else had weight gain after leaving the hospital during the first couple weeks post op ? Sent from my Pixel using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Hello all! This is my first post here and I am thrilled to have this resource available at my fingertips. I have been reading posts for about two weeks and decided it was my turn to ask for your opinion. My relationship with food has been a lifelong struggle. After a while I gave up hating myself and tried to work on self love, which really just turned into justifying my bad habits. I started this gastric surgery journey at over 300 pounds after seeing a candid photograph of myself. I didn't recognize the person I saw in the photo. I had been ignoring health issues far too long that I knew were related to my habits. I began to make small changes like eliminating soda and fast food. I knew, though, that I needed to make a longer lasting change and the sleeve sounded like a great tool to reset my eating habits and relationship with food. My first appointment with the surgeon was June 8 2017. I weighed in at 294. I had four months worth of nutritionist visits, all of which I fluctuated between 295 and 297. Then I had my psychiatric evaluation on August 23 2017. My weight that visit was 299. The psychiatrist cleared me, but was very insistent that he typically wouldn't clear someone who had gained five pounds since their first visit and that my surgeon wouldn't perform the surgery unless I was down 5-10 pounds. My current weight is 290. My pre-op appointment is November 8 2017 and my surgery is scheduled for November 13, 2017. I am a nervous wreck. I have started going to the gym five days a week and doing half an hour of cardio. I don't restrict what I eat, only how much of it I eat. I know I will lose some weight as a result of the liquid pre-op diet but the psychiatrist's words haunt me. I am convinced after paying such a high deductible and all I've already been through that for some reason my surgery will be postponed. Has anyone else had a similar issue? How was it resolved?
  7. Will the dietitian clear and approve to move forward if I have gained weight? details below... pardon the lack of punctuation, I am on my phone I have my final visit with the dietitian this week. I was doing so well until the mental health professionals threw a wretch and sent me way off track (long story short, I was a victim of childhood abuse and sexual abuse while in college... it pretty much was a how can someone go threw this and hold their life together and said I couldn’t do the surgery because I “needed” there help because well how Can I live when something like that happened) I stood up for myself and yes, the things I have been threw was terrible but I am a stronger being because of it. After the assault, I gained a lot of weight, by a lot I mean like 70lbs in a few short months... then continually climbed due to the depression that had set in. Wanting to have the surgery in the first place is to take back that part of my life. In doing so, I went off track and back to depression. My view was that since I was abused, that is the only thing I will ever be so why bother mentality... anyone had a similar situation?
  8. My anxiety is at an all time at the moment. My surgery date isnt until October 30th and I start my liquid diet October 16th. I'm not stressing about the surgery but the weigh in with my Surgeon. She wants to do a weigh in on Tuesday October 17th but the probably is I gained 15 lbs!!! I gained all that weight in 5 days. There are a lot of factors... 1) I didn't drink any water for 3-4 days 2) My period has been on and off for 2 weeks because the birth control in my arm was expiring so I got a new one put back in 3) stressed 4) lack of sleep and have been sleeping late. I know you can gain some weight from water retention, being on your menstrual and being stressed out but 15 pounds?! This is really bad timing. If im not the same weight or have lost anything that means my surgery will be postponed and that isn't an option for me. I plan on starting my liquid diet a little bit in advanced ( Sunday 10/15 ) This has to be all water weight but i don't know if it's possible to lose 15 pounds in 3 days. This is all just bad timing

  13. I've gained 5 lbs. since I saw the NUT in August and my pre-op appt is this Friday. Do you think they'll cancel my surgery??? Any suggestions on how to lose these 5 lbs. by Friday? TIA
  14. Ok, so my weight has crept back up...... My lowest so far (August 2017 was @ 5 month mark) was 168.6 lbs. Saw my surgeon & PA 10/28, stepped on the scale, and weighed in at 174.8-a gain 6.2 lbs. Don't like that at all, but I know it was my eating habits and lack of daily tracking (I had been faithfully tracking on the MyFitnessPal app, but slacked off over the summer). Since today is Oct 1st, I'm gonna restart my weight loss. I'm going to have 2 protein shakes daily, cut out carb snacks, eat more fruit/cheese as a snack, get stricter with measurements for the food I do eat, TRACK EVERYTHING IN MyFitnessPal, walk even more. I'm posting this hoping people will find me on MyFitnessPal (@ladygg1967) and encourage me to stay on track. Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Hi all!!! I'm new to this app. I had gastric sleeve surgery 2 weeks ago and instantly lost 14 pounds. Well I have gained 3 pounds back and it's causing some extreme anxiety. I feel like I'm gonna fail this time as I have so many times before. Anybody else experience this?
  16. I had surgery 8/21 and lost 29 pounds! Then this morning gained 2! Getting tons of water, walking, following food guide..... will this pass??? Also, I have an IUD AND I have had my period - light- on and off this whole post op. I'm getting nervous that that this ( like everything else) will not work for me. I also felt super light this morning- until the horrific scale. Any thoughts are welcome!
  17. Is it normal to have some weight gain after one month of surgery? I just want to ask if this is a normal thing ocurring to me. I will transition to solids finally tomorrow and dont know if that will help with the weight gain. I was doing fine while on liquids and for the majority of pureed. Just feel bloated and my chest feels very tendered which dont know if that is something normal for men. Thank you..
  18. I have gained about ten pounds since the start of all the weigh-ins. I just started nursing school and i have been stress eating like crazy! Im at my halfway mark now so I really need to get on it and start eating better. Has/did anyone have this problem during their weigh-ins and does anyone know if the weight gain will effect my chances of being approved for surgery?

    Weight gain

Lab band 1 year ago. Lost 14 kg then stalled. Had to deal with a wedding and families visiting. Gained 2 kg. Any suggestions.
  23. I am between 8-9 months out and a couple months ago, I'd not been as disciplined. I've been stalled or stuck in the same 5lb range for about 2months. For the last month, I've gotten back on track with what I eat and I've been killing it in the gym. Last week, id dropped 4lbs taking me to 222lbs. This week, I've been working just as hard and I've gained over 5lbs. Can someone shed some light. I'm trying really hard not to cry because it makes no sense.
  24. Hello everyone So I'm 14 months out from my sleeve and I have had a stable weight for months now and my partner wants us to try for a baby. I also want a baby but I'm so scared of gaining weight. Like I mean is bad how scared I'm to gain weight its literally all I think about. I just don't never want to see myself at the weight I was before.
  25. I have been on a large dose of gabapentin, I'm not sure if that cause any my weight gain or just the fact that I've become less active and my diet has not been as strict as before. 14 years 30 carbs a day diet has kept 150 pound weight lost at bay until my left leg was paralyzed eight months ago. I've gained 45 pounds total in the last year. I have lap band surgery scheduled for Monday and when I went to see the surgeon for the final visit a new surgeon saw me and said I should not get the lap band and I'm wasting my money. He showed me pictures and said everybody is getting it removed and that I should only have a sleeve. My paralyzation is hopefully temporary and was caused from a back fusion cutting/injuring my nerves. I need a tool until I have my mobility back. I was so devastated I started to cry, I wasn't prepared for the sleeve operation. I was at peace getting lap band and the doctor thoroughly scared me. At this point I'm thinking about canceling everything.
