1 month monday down 48 lbs
wannabaloser replied to crystal916's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost 40 pounds in one month and 10 days and I don't see it either. Everyone else does though. I am like you with Protein shakes. I am making smoothies with the powder to try to lile it better. I also either have diarrhea (sorry, tmi) or horrible heartburn after I do the Protein drinks. I had energy issues the first week or so but now I feel great. I am super glad I chose this surgery and honestly ig I don't lose another pound I will still be happy. -
September Sleevers New Jersey
SJMusicalman103 replied to NickieLo339's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Sept 11th in Camden County... I have had amazing care... I had a side effect from the operation and had to come home with a catheter... It came out 3 days after I came home... Right now I'm constipated (TMI, sorry) and trying to get relief... The second day I was home I ha HORRIBLE gas cramps... My doc told me to take GasX, drink more fluids and walk and it had worked wonders... Now I'm taking both Colace and Miralax in the hopes that it will relieve to constipation (under doctor's) orders.. I was a little discouraged a my first weigh in because I didn't lose as much as I wanted... My doc reassured me that it would come off.. My biggest piece of advice is try not to compare your weight loss to any other sleeve patient (as far as the numbers go)... Best of luck to you! -
Bowel movement after surgery........how long?
Chelsi replied to toco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the 18th and I haven't even farted (sorry for the TMI), I've only burped. So I was starting to worry myself. -
What are people doing to keep constipation at bay? I was in the ER all day yesterday due to a blockage....(I don't recommend it----it's ugly and so is the procedure to get rid of it)....they fixed me, and all is almost good......but I can't help be concerned about recurrences......I drink 40-60 oz and include 1 or 2 premier Protein drinks a day....and being made of whey, which is from dairy, I'm wondering if that's constipating? The ER docs said to stay away from dairy......I'm still only able to eat 2oz at a time....3oz if it's very moist.....so I have depended on those drinks..... So, what are you doing to keep regular? Many thanks (sorry if this was TMI)

So I know this may be TMI but I can't be the only person dealing with this issue... When I first got home I had diarrhea which I know is normal after surgery... Now, for the passed 2 days I am constipated.. I took 1 colace last night and 3 today... I know it says it takes 12-72 hours to work... I am getting 64 ounces of water and walking every day.. I am on full liquids right now... Should I be alarmed or is this pretty normal? Any words of wisdom would be great! Thanks y'all!

I did have a BM, but just diarrhea (sorry TMI). I guess it could be gas settling, but I thought since my surgery was Monday and today is Friday that would be too long for the gas to still be in there.

Okay, so maybe TMI, but I had my first bm. I didn't expect it to happen so soon.

The first day after I had a lot of drainage. Now 4 days later I don't have very much but tmi its still has bloody discharge -
My dr also is under the school of thought that there's no such thing as dumping with the sleeve. Every single time I eat ice cream my stomach cramps. I would'nt think that was dumping until a few nite ago. I ate ice cream before bed (yes, I know I'm a slow learner!) and 2 hrs after falling asleep I woke up with severe stomach cramping. For 2 hrs I suffered with cramping and explosive diarrhea (sorry tmi). I promised myself I wouldn't eat ice cream again (not unlike begging God for mercy and promising never to drink again upon vomiting with too much alcohol!) if God got me thru it. I will probly eat ice cream again (when I forget about how it feels) but not anytime soon.

quest bars are amazingly good! the chocolate brownie seems to be the best, very chocolate-y...however (sorry tmi) I wonder about all that fiber? My experience has been that having one bar a day seems to umm..clog things up a bit...in my digestive process. Just something to watch out for... they are so good that I wanted to eat one every day, but I seemed to suffer the consequences a bit.

TMI topic for August Sleevers (8/20)
MemphisChik posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry about the nature of this post, but need input. I was sleeved on 8/20. Two weeks later found out I have a clot between my stomach and liver that will take at least 3 months to dissolve. That aside, my recovery has gone well. I have even gotten back on track with daily bowel movements. The thing is, they are pretty dark, darker than I've ever seen before. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Consistency-wise, they're normal. Just an unusual dark greenish/black color. Anyone else seeing this? Appreciate any input you may have! -

Prune Juice - thoughts? TMI WARNING/Constipation
MissErika posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, a known side effect of WLS is constipation - if you don't have it, you are lucky!!! I am on regular foods and I always eat my protein first but I never am able to get down my fruits and vegetables. I take fiber supplements but those don't help like they should. Once a week I drink half a cup of warm prune juice (which is half a serving on the label) to keep regular - and it helps within hours WITHOUT cramping. TMI - IT COMPLETELY CLEARS ME OUT LOL. I have taken stool softeners, which either don't work or they make me cramp. I also took M.O.M which left me crying with cramps (yet I couldn't go). I get natural, no sugar added prune juice. Do you think that half a serving a week will kill my weight loss? It hasn't so far but I'm on week 5. I'm pretty sensitive to sugar and carbs which is why I'm asking. I'm also asking in-case any of you have any suggestions too. I feel guilty each time because it is beaten into my head that juice is the source of evil but wouldn't it be worth it to go every 7 days? Is there something better out there I should try? -
I had my first BM today after surgery which was on Monday, 09/16. I am on an all liquid diet for 7-14 days, so I have diarrhea (TMI, I know). However, I just want to know if this is normal. I thought I wouldn't have a BM for 5-7 days, so I am just a bit early. I feel like I have been doing everything correctly. Vitamins, liquids, walking, passing gas, but no Protein for these first two weeks. My doctor just wants me to stay hydrated and to heal. Thank you for any advise from those that have been through this stage.

Any September surgeries out there
ShineBright724 replied to SueC1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a BM. My surgeon told me he'd let me go home if I farted and literally 10 minutes later I thought I had to fart but it was more LOL (TMI). Now they have to see if I'm tolerating the liquids but I'm hoping they let me go. I'm getting frustrated. -
Worried about ulcer
Rena's got this replied to Rena's got this's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's worth mentioning to her, and I will. I almost think though that it couldn't be Celiac disease since my stools are normal (sorry if TMI). I am also running a low grade fever every night between 99.2 and 100.2. Have you had any problems adjusting to a gluten free diet? How will that affect your diet after you are sleeved? -

Secret Sleevers?
makingadjustments replied to bnape29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At first I was going to keep it a secret..My co-workers knew because we operate like a family and so many people in my agency has had the surgery so it is no big deal around the job. Then I decided to let my family in on my decision and they have been very supportive with my decision. My family has always been a great support so I am not sure why I delayed sharing the news. My aunts are asking for my clothes once I shrink, my cousin asking can she have my bras (a lil TMI lol). Overall I am happy so the people that love me are happy and supportive I am very excited about my future and quality of life. Thank God I have not encountered any negativity. My words of encouragement to all is "do what is best for you as long as you are okay with the decision that you are making nothing else matters.... don't second guess yourself this is your life you have one shot at living it to the fullest make your shot count for you". Wishing everyone on this site with much success on their journey....Smile it is your time -
Where Are You in Your Weight Loss Journey?
ShineBright724 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I just finished my 3rd walk, she let me go by myself. It does help with gas if you have some. I feel like I'm about to burp but it won't come up lol. They told me to let them know when I pass gas (tmi) and my catheter is getting taken out in 30 minutes -
Personally I'm at 15 minutes before, but I wait an hour afterwards or I feel sick piling liquids on top of the solid food. For me, it doesn't run through at that point, it just comes back up (TMI).

Tim Horton's Honey Cruller. It WAS my favorite donut of all time. Nowadays it keeps me tied to the toilet for hours if I eat one...sorry TMI. Haven't had one since March- only time I tried it post-op. -
Nope... see/call the MD. You want this resolved. I am lucky, after the first couple weeks I have been OK. (PS, there's never TMI here...)
