  1. I'm so frustrated and discouraged. I was sleeved on nov 18 and lost 10 pounds the 1st week which I know was just Water mostly. So now here I am 2 weeks and 2 days into my "3 week stall." If actually really lasts 3 weeks I'm going to lose my s**t. I even gained 2 pounds. I get that fact my body is adjusting to the trauma of surgery and also trying to hold on to everything I put in it because it thinks I'm starving it. My understanding has turned into complete frustration. I decided to up my calories thinking that would help. I went from about 500 to about 800. 200 calories was just from my Protein shake which I hate but i suck it down anyway. I know everyone that says this is normal but it doesn't feel like it. I just makes me feel like I'm failing. It makes me feel like I wasted $12,000 of my hard earned money...ugh

IV fluid weight gain and 3 week stall

I can't remember but I already knew about them pre-surgery from doing my research. The IV thing is just common sense though, I don't get why that baffles so many people. The 3 week stall is like the most infamous thing about WLS surgery. My nurse was 6 months post-op with the sleeve and most of my questions were more long term and all of them were answered. I was well prepared by my staff, but that is also why I picked them. I wanted a smooth streamline process. Making a thread like this asking people is pointless because most people won't read it, just like people don't use search and just as the same question that has been asked hundreds of times. I get that searching on the app might not be that intuitive, but Google is easy you can type in any random question and get an answer. Lately is seems that we have had an influx of people that went to XXX doctor that is only in it for the money and people have no education or very little education. Especially this new crop of people that had surgery in Mexico. I don't know how people last on here for years, at 11 months, I am about all burned out on answering questions. I want to answer questions and help people because I feel it is important to give back, but it is getting ridiculous.

    I Dont Like Food Anymore

My surgery was 9/19 so I'm five weeks out too. I feel like the rest of you not enjoying food. I miss the flavor really. The 3 week stall has lasted 3 weeks too. I'm so close to onederland and cant get to it. Beyond frustrated. My dr is releasing me to work out on nov. 4th and I cant wait. Hopefully that will help. That burrito bowl from chipotle does sound good to try.
  4. Actually I have not taken my measurements. I have even read posts today where that is discussed and still no 'light bulb' went off..lol. I do remember 3 week stalls...and that is what I first chalked everything up to plus the 2 quick hospitalizations in week 2 and 3 for IV fluids but now I'm 5 weeks out. One of our other July siblings MeowAMR posted a reply that resonated with me...what I guess is at the heart of what is nattering away at me is that for 3 full weeks...I have not lost more than 1 lb. For OVER 3 full weeks. I'm so numbers driven that my head just keeps getting wrapped up in that at some point it is calories in vs. out. Well, I know the calories 'In' and have rough grasp on calories "out" and the math just does not work out. I'm not saying the net effect of the 2 is enough to signify that I should have lost another 10 lbs...but it is enough to have equaled at least a 4 to 5 lb lost. I've been thinking of replacing, outside of 2 protein shakes to get in my protein (320 calories together, 60 grams of protein) any other 'food' and go back to sugar free jello, sugar free Popsicles and bring my calories back to 400 or less. I will say when I was on 400 or less, when I went to do any activity, I felt woozy. Can we get used to it though? I haven't seen my dr since my post op visit and then him seeing me in hospital a few weeks ago. They are 2 hrs away with traffic so that is why I'm seeking a nutritionist and a therapist closer to home. My car is NOT reliable enough to drive that far and the last time I did, I ended up on the side of one of the busiest rush hour freeways for 3 hours in 105 degree heat and thought I'd pass out.
  5. Holy balls. I have always had bad cramps, but TOM started a few days ago, like clockwork, no surprises (thank goodness), but the cramps are awful! Ahhhhhhhh! I just tried to take some tylenol, it still takes me a few trys to get medication down, so now I am sitting in my cubicle at work, feel stuffed full of the water I gulped, and crampy... please tell me the cramps get better as months go by?!
  6. When was the last time you lost 40 lbs in 10 weeks, and recovered from a mild heart attack? Cut yourself some slack. Your are doing great. As for the 3 week stall, I truly believe that stalls are merely the body getting use to the weight loss.
  7. Trying not to feel defeated but it’s hard! I’ve lost slowly right out of the gate. HW was 285 in August , currently 218. surgery was 8/14. I have had zero complications, have felt pretty darn good from the start. Always met my protein and water goals. My dietician wants me to up my calories to 1200 a day, which I have been able to do sporadically. I was on a 3 week stall but just lost 1.6 lbs. She also does not care about carbs. She’s like... eat them. Wants me to reach around 90g of protein and 125 g carbs. I started at orange theory fitness (high intensity interval training) and have been going 3x a week. They are hour long classes and my average calorie burn is 450 per class. They are very difficult. When I started this I wanted to be 180 lbs. that is still 30 lbs higher then “normal” BMI. Now I just want to get below 200. Will it happen for me??? It’s just so frustrating bc it seems like for some people the weight just melts off. I guess this shouldn’t be a surprise bc by the time I decided on surgery, and after a lifetime of yo yo dieting I had a hard time losing even 10 lbs.
  8. Hi all, joining the party. When I was 21 I found myself at 305 and it freaked me out, and I went on a severe diet. I dropped 112 pounds in a year, but after I met my husband and quit smoking I was back up to 305. And then marriage added another 72! My highest was 377 in 2011. From 2011-2017 I was able to get down to 315, but I kept bouncing back and forth from 335 to 315. When I decided to start the sleeve journey I was 333. On my surgery day, 4/27/18, I was 303, and nearly 4 weeks post op I am 278. I question my choice constantly. I am discouraged by the 3 week stall, I miss food, I hate the nausea and the heartburn and all the pills. I am super tired. I know a lot of people regret their sleeve the first month. I just hope to get out of this funk soon. Here is my progress.
  9. I was RNY on 12/31, so almost 3 weeks out. I've been very fortunate that I haven't had any issues with fluids and am able to get in 80+ per day since the first week. I really have to plan to get close to my protein goals and still need a protein shake or high protein drink (I've been doing a decaf latte with Fairlife & Collagon = 23 G protein). I've been on soft foods for almost a week and so far everything has sat pretty well. I'm slowly introducing new things. I did hit my "3 week stall" at 1-1/2 weeks which played some mind games with me, but have started losing again which makes me happy. Hopefully I'll be consistent for a bit before I hit my next stall.

Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

Is it possible to have a 3 week stall in your 10th month post op? I am not losing weight anymore, its been a week, I think.
  11. FluffyChix

Frustrated because of stalled weight loss

I hear there are expected stalls: 3 week stall 3-4 month stall 6 month stall 9 month stall Maybe you are just in one of those stalls? I'd probably be tempted to go back to posting religiously and weighing and measuring to make sure I'm not eating more than I think. I also would try reducing cals by 10% and upping my protein portion of my day just to see if that helps. If it doesn't, then I'd maybe try the opposite! I'd try adding 100 more calories of protein to the day. Sorry you're stalled. They SUCK so badly! ((hugs)) Congrats on your success!!!
  12. Just wondering who else is with me? I am just under 8 weeks post op and have lost 40lbs. Had a 3 week stall. Just seem to be losing very slowly. I figured out I was snacking too much so got that problem solved. Started going to the gym and that helped break my stall. I get in my Protein and liquids. Sometimes I struggle with liquid but usually I do ok. I get frustrated with the slow weight loss. I feel others expect more. I expect more. I always struggled to lose weight my whole life and so now that I lose slowly it is difficult on me. Emotionally I struggle making sure I am doing the right things but it's difficult. Anyone in the same boat? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
  13. Welcome to the 3 week stall. If you do a search of the topics on this site, you will see it is very common and happened to almost every single one of us. Carry on as usual. This too shall pass. One day you will wake up and be at goal weight like me ????. In the meantime, I found it helpful to read posts from others further along in the process so I would know what to expect. There seems to be a predictable pattern to this madness. I'm now a little over a year out from WLS and the repetitive postings tell me we seem to have similar experiences!

Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

I skipped the 3 weeks stall and had it on my week 5, it lasted about 2.5 weeks, today the scale moved again about 2.5 lbs
  15. It's very common - it's the 3 week stall! Your body is adjusting! Stick with the plan and you will lose weight! Stay off the scales for now. As long as you are meeting you Protein and Water goals you will lose!
  16. I WAS working out - but had to quit. I wound up making myself sick w/ very LOW blood pressure (80/60!!). Was having confusion, inability to speak, couldn't complete simple tasks (like showering, putting the dogs out, etc), really bizarre symptoms!! My surgeon & primary care both told me that it was just way too early to be working out as hard as I was. SO - now I'm not doing a darn thing!! I do hope to go back to walking once the weather cools off a bit where I live. I'm actually kind of scared to go back to working out after having my crash & burn incident ... how sad is that?! I am REALLY GOOD about getting in my Water, Vitamins & Protein EVERY day. I drink lots of G2 as my "water" - at least 4 (20oz.) bottles per day. Thats the only "special" thing I do (I get the impression that a lot of folks have trouble with the water & protein #'s). I eat VERY clean & I've only had alcohol one time since surgery (special occasion - best 2 Cosmos I've had in my life!). That's really all - I'm just following the rules. But - don't get the wrong impression - I've still had a 3 week stall just like everybody else!! I've just been losing well since I got my groove back : )

    4 Things I Wish I Would've Known Pre Op

    - I wish I wouldve known that my taste buds would change. - I wish I wouldve known that the 3 week stall can happen in the first month postop. - I wish I wouldve known how weak and lack of energy I would be the first week. - I wish I wouldve known how much emotions are involved in the process. - I wish I wouldve known how difficult it would be to sleep the first week. - I wish there were more posts like this to help all those preop patients on here. Everyone's experience is different. I am grateful I never threw up and didnt have complications. Im 3 weeks postop and no more pain or gas. But I do have constipation issues and some acid reflux that is being controlled with prilosec. I am currently on 11 day stall, but I have lost 19lbs total. I am happy to be a sleever and I know this is only a tool. We must follow our food stages and exercise for this tool to be a success!
  21. Hey so I was sleeved 6/29/20. I've done a lot of research so I see the 3 week stall is a thing. My question is how long does it last?? I've been at a stall gaining and losing the same 3lbs for about a week and a half now. It's just insanely frustrating. I feel I shouldve lost more by now. I'm not over eating. I roughly eat 1/4 - 1/2 cup at a time and only 3 times a day and 1 or 2 shakes a day if I can get them in and of course as much water as I can. I walk every day and starting Monday I can start basic strength training again (minus core for now). Help!? What am I doing wrong?? Hw:290 Sw:266 Cw:257
  22. Hi all. Sorry it's been a while. Life got crazy for a bit. I'm nearly 4 weeks post op and had the 3 week stall!!! So frustrating - same weight all week. I guess I had already lost 11kgs so can't really complain and I don't want to lose too fast as many ppl don't know I've had the surgery. I have more energy, finding stairs easier already, doing more walking. Yesterday we had a big family lunch and I was able to eat enough over 2 hours that no one seemed suspicious. Fish is by far the easiest thing but I also had a spoonful of curry with rice. Cheesecake for dessert was just too easy to eat but I only had a sliver. At work I'm mainly having a yogurt for morning & afternoon tea - same one half/half and a shake for lunch. What other things work well on soft diet? Mushrooms going down well for breakfast! Did anyone else get the 3 week stall??

August post op sleevers: Check in

Congrats. 37 lbs. That's amazing. I'm in the 3 week stall. The weight and other tickers are under your account profile. Go all the way to the very top of the screen, it is in the upper right. It should say something like "Hello jelmore8312000". Click on that and it will offer you a menu. One item on the drop down mean is "My Tickers". That's where you can pick and choose the kind of ticker you want, the little scenes and icons you want to use, and input your data as it changes.

August post op sleevers: Check in

@@ruskatie, Welcome! I just broke a 3 week stall. Had my surgery the 20th and only lost 20 lbs the first week. So you my dear are actually doing well. Sorry about the complications... The people on this forum are so helpful and you'll start to realize all that you're going thru is the norm. I too was worried and frustrated but my scale is moving again and yours will too. Hang in there, you're right on track.

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

May sleevers - Seems a big group of us were in another 3-week stall. Me too, but this morning I reached ONE-derland! Finally in the 100s instead of 200s! Praising God and thanking you for this community! 54 lbs to go for me. I am on the slow train but it is a train moving forward (or down)! Blessings to you in your journey!
