  1. Wow!!! You are so inspiring. I am 3 weeks out and have been stalled the past 7 days. I have heard of this 3 week stall. I have lost quite a bit so far but sometimes it's hard to believe that I'm going to lose more. Especially when I eat something and feel so full!
  2. On my 3 week stall now and it has been 3 1/2 weeks.....really needed to hear this today. Thanks for sharing. When you went back to liquids did you stop losing when you went back to solids? I just posted about this earlier today because, like you, I have been scared to death that I'm going to be that person that it doesn't work for.
  3. I thought I was going to be the ONE person The Sleeve didn't work for. My "stall" lasted a whole month so I decided to go BACK on all liquids to try and kick my body back into weight loss mode again. I only had to do that a couple of days and THANKFULLY I am losing again (down 5 new lbs in the last 2 weeks). I still feel someone my size should be slimming quicker but I am staying positive and focused on continued weight loss. I do feel GREAT and loving that I am getting back into some of my old clothes already and enjoying working out. I was just sleeved on Feb 28th, 2011! Any others have a similar experience so early? I want to hear how YOU overcome stalls.
  4. We have almost the sames stats!! I was sleeved on 3/28 weighed in on pre-op diet at 248# and had a 3-week stall as we all do.... Mine lasted a week and a half. You HAVE to get your Protein up to 70 - 80 grams minimum, drink the fluids, and my nutritionist had me increase my calories to break mine. So....2 shakes a day, and 3-4 "meals" that usually consist of cottage cheese, greek yogurt, string cheese, refried Beans, corned-beef hash with or without an egg, an omelet.....you get the idea. And take your chewable vitamin! I was only getting between 400 and 600 calories a day, increased it to 600-800, that seemed to help a lot. And when I get on full regular food next week she tells me 1000 calories a day. I don't do fat-free anything really, except the greek yogurt.....eat waaaayyyyy too much cheese (I poop like a rabbit), and am slowly trying to get to real food. Let us know, and I hope it helps.
  5. Its great that you are still working out/walking! I would take the little victories where you can and maybe consider going back to Protein shakes and no carbs for a few days just to get past the cravings. Have some sugar-free/fat-free pudding for chocolate. There is a better way to satisfy your appetite, and you know better than anyone what that is....... Use this tool to get back on track for your new lifestyle You can do this. You really want to do this. You really will do this! We all have faith in you, you can, you want to, you will......Just keep saying it. That being said, I have one more week before my food free-for-all and I want meatloaf dammit!!! lol, but I had to go back to 2 shakes a day to get my loss moving again after my 3-week stall. So we all have to make adjustments occasionally.
  6. I SWORE to myself that I was not going to let the 3 week stall get to me, but it's starting to. Mine started in the third week and I haven't lost anything in 3 1/2 weeks now. I'm really getting discouraged. I wanted so badly to be a sleeve rock star and it's just not feeling like it's gonna work out that way. I have seriously struggled with getting all my Water and Protein in, but have done well at keeping the carbs low. I would say I am getting about 50-65 grams of protein daily (from food b/c i am SO sick of shakes) and about 50 ounces of water. The last few days I have increased both hoping to jump start things, but still nothing. I'm even sitting here drinking my shake as I type. Just wanting to know how long other people's stalls have lasted and if this still seems normal. I knew it would START around week 3, but didn't know it would LAST 3 weeks plus. Trying to make sure I have included everything people normally ask. My stats are: sleeved 3/28 at 252lb. As of 5/5, 229lb. All of that 23 lb loss was during the first two weeks. I appreciate any feedback/ wisdom you guys can provide. My greatest fear going into this was that I would be that one person it doesn't work for and while rationally I know better....today it's feeling like that might be the case.
  7. Rev Me Up!

Stall? Or am I getting greedy?

Ah, the 3 week stall strikes again!
  8. If you are not doing so, join a site like Fitday.com. Write down what you put in your mouth. 1200 at week three is pretty high. You might watch salt intake too... drink all of your water... you could be retaining water. Like others have said, the big 3 week stall is common (Mine was at 2 weeks and lasted 4 weeks) I was eating 350-600 cals a day when that happened! Stalls happen. The sleeve works if you follow the sleeve rules... protein first, drink your water, exercise (but please don not overdue for the first 6 weeks) walk until you can do more. Exercise patients too! I don't think that many insurance companies would pay out hundreds of thousands of dollars on sleeve surgery if your worst fear was true! CHILL Hip!

    How I Broke My Stall

Yeah I think going from all liquids to mushy and soft foods tends to bring on stalls. Plus our bodies are still healing from major surgery. If you use the search button and look up 3 week stall, you will find lots of posts about it. It's fairly common to experience stalls throughout the weight loss journey. My concern has never been how fast I lose weight (although I'd like it to be fast!), my concern is that once I lose the weight I want it to stay lost forever!!!
  11. thank you! Every one has a valid story to tell..for sure! Not to discredit anyone's experience!!!...need the Water now though...had that dratted 3 week stall..grrr.
  12. Tiffykins

No weight loss in 4 days

Doubtful it's anything more than the normal 2-3 week stall that most every weight loss patient experiences. Your body can't continue to lose 1-2 pounds a day, and stalls will happen. Just keep getting in your fluids and protein as best you can.
  13. You say u hit the dreaded 3 week stall.. I say I hit my dreaded 1 week stall lol.. restless but feeling bit bettter:)

    Frustrated!!!!

It looks like you lost some weight pre op. My doctor said the first 30 pounds were the easiest. After that it gets harder. Looks like you may be in the same boat. I lost 12 pounds total in the first two weeks and nothing in week three. I was ready for the 3 week stall and didn't get freaked out. I keep looking at 42 pound total loss and am feeling better than before surgery. Stick with the program and it will come off! HUGS

I love this challenge tho and will certainly sign up for the 4th of July one! AND I will keep working hard to get to my Easter goal - I will take every ounce I can get! 4 Weeks Post-Op

April 19, 2011 I am Officially 4 weeks post-op today (but not quite 1 month, weird how that works out sometimes...) I've got 2 more weeks of the mushy stage, I'm enjoying the food choices a lot more than during the liquid diet but Im not seeing the same dramatic weight loss. From my weigh-in last tuesday to today I have only lost 2 pounds. And the week before that it was only 3. I'm wondering if veeerrrrryyyy slooooowww weight loss is part of the infamous 3 week stall? Its a little disheartening to think I'm going to progress at such a slow rate from here on out. On to the good stuff: I feel almost no pain at this point, though soreness and fatigue have become close compatriots lately. I'm tracking my food and doing much better about getting my protein in. Atleast once a day someone comments on how good I'm looking lately I've had to get rid of a few items of clothing that have simply become 'tentlike'. I feel better/more confident about the future, my health, and what my life will look like. I've been walking but my Surgeon hasn't given me clearance for any more athletic exercise. Hopefully when I see him next week everything will look good and he will give me the go-ahead. That should kick-start things a bit! ~ Bellah
  17. I need to start keeping track of all my NSV's because I am having so many, and loving it!!! Last week I was at the grocery store at the end of my street, the one I have gone to for about 7 years now, and a woman that works there came up to me, and said, "WOW, you have lost so much weight!" That felt so awesome to have someone notice outside of friends/family. Then, I was at the pet store yesterday, and a lady who works there, that I haven't seen for a while, said the same thing as the lady at the grocery!!! At the pet store, I said, yah, I have lost SOME weight (LOL), 119 pounds. I went on to get my cat food, and the woman that was walking to the check out, I could hear her say, "did she just say she lost 119 pounnds??? That is amazing!". I got in line and that woman was still there and was like, that is great you lost so much weight, are you maintaining well now. When I told her I had 85 more to lose, she was like, NO WAY, haha. I have only gotten that response from friends/family, so it felt good hearing it from someone I didn't even know. I was just like, "well, you don't know what I weigh". I can see WHERE I can lose 85 or more pounds! Even if I lose that much more, I will still have a high normal BMI. Anyway, we will just see where I feel best. And then my last NSV to share, was inspired by someone on here that I saw just post a recent pic of themself in their "big" jeans. So, I went and got mine out, and could fit in to one leg as well!!! I tried to take pictures, but none turned out of me in one leg. But here are a few pics of me from today with my "big" jeans. The jeans are a size 32, and I am currenlty in a 20, even some 18/20's and my top is a 2X I just bought!!! AND, OMG! I am in shorts!!! Not an NSV, but a scale victory, that I needed to share. I finally broke my 3 week stall!!!! WOOHOOO. And, I lost 5 pounds this week. I offically weighed in at 250 pounds! So happy!!!! Here is a slide show of my journey from begining to now, in pictures, if anyone would like to take a look : http://smilebox.com/playBlog/4d6a51784d7a59324e6a673d0d0a&blogview=true
  18. Hip, this surgery is amazing. I have no doubt you could get yourself to any weight you'd like. If you wanted to lose more than 235, I'm willing to bet you would. I'm a revision and yes, I gained with my band. I'm far below my lowest with my band weight now - and really I don't feel like I'm bottoming out at all. Like Denise said, as long as you're following the sleever rules of eating, it will eventually come off. I stall here and there but over time I think I've grown very confident that it will come off down the line when it's time. I just dropped 8 Lbs in 3 days right now. Then I also just had a 3 week stall right before this too. Just hang tight, and give it some time.
  19. 3 weeks stalled :-( am eating about 800-1000 calories a day and exercising but no scale action. not losing inches either. i don't need a fill because i have good restriction so i don't know what else to try! trying not to lose hope.

    Weight GAIN this week!!!!

HI Dana, I watched your blog. I wanted to respond, but last time I did, it went to my FB page and I freaked out. I didn't know how it did that. My FB peeps don't know I had the surgery, but I think I caught it in time that probably nobody saw it. It was weird, your video just popped right on to my profile page! Strange! Anyways, I just wanted to say, that I have been in a stall for weeks now. Since my 2nd week out of surgery. Monday was 4 weeks for me since surgery. I keep bouncing around between 210 and 213. It is so beyond frustrating!! I have been anticipating the 3 weeks stall and have been trying to just go with it, but now I am starting to lose my mind, because it is lasting sooooo LONG!! Week 2, 3 and 4 is just way too long! Also, I also have PCOS and I am wondering how that all works. Weight loss has always been hard for me with PCOS. So, I just don't know what to do anymore. I know my one weakness is getting my 64 ounces of water in. Protein, no problem! Oh well, I have to look at the big picture. 30 lbs. in 4 weeks is pretty good. I couldn't do that without this surgery. I just thought this whole process would be even faster! Like at least a pound a week. I hope we break our stalls SOON!! Tomorrow is my birthday! All I want is to wake up and see 5 lbs gone! lol best gift ever!

    Weight GAIN this week!!!!

Ok....I've heard about the dreaded 3 week stall, but I'm 5 weeks out today and I GAINED 1.8lbs!! What in the world?? I'm sticking to a low-carb (30g or less), high protein (90g) diet; I started working out last week; I'm getting in all my water.......I have no idea what's going on. I'm just going to keep doing what I've been doing, because, up until now, it's been working! Any suggestions? Thanks, Bewildered and Confused in Texas

    Day 13. Gutting it out.

Just keep following doctors orders. You will get out of this with time. (You can remind me of this next week when I hit the 3 week stall) We had surgery on the same day and I lost 8 pounds the first week and 4 the second. I started on pureed foods on day 6 and soft on day 11. I was so glad I did not have to stay on liquids as long as you and others. Today is the first day I met my protein goal, but have been meeting my liquid goal since day 4. I sure hope it gets better for you!

    Setting Goals

So far, I have not really set any time/weight goals. I haven't had a clue how to even guess how much I would lose. My original goal in my head was to hit Onederland by July 4. I think based on factoring in a 3 week stall and losing about 5 pounds a week, I'm going to bump that up a little to around June 10th. So....there you have it....my first goal. I want to lose 35 pounds and hit Onederland by June 10th.
  24. So, I was sleeved on 3/25. I have no problems eating what I should be eating or getting the amount of protein I should be getting, but this past 4-5 days the scale has not moved. I was wondering if that was normal or if anyone else has experienced this. I am starting to wonder if this surgery was the right decision for me or if my body is just saying what the heck did you do to me? I have lost 15 lbs since surgery, but nothing in the past 4-5 days. Just curious. Thanks!
  25. I am 3 1/2 weeks out and I am able to consume more as most too. I am on soft foods now. My BIGGEST problem now is eating way too fast because I am hungry. I have gotten sick about 4 times and have had to relieve the pressure (if you know what I mean). I am very concerned about my lack of control over slowing down. I DO NOT want to over eat and stretch my new tummy out. I have also hit the dreaded 3 week stall. I am still consuming 500-700 calories and staying below 40gms Carbs, 30gms fat and getting in 50-60gms Protein. Water is not where it is supposed to be though. And I am not getting any exercise. Maybe that's my problem. Frustrated with myself beyond measure!!
