Any August 31st Sleevers?
mismatched replied to dorothy510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was sleeved on 8/31, too. I'm feeling good, not much pain but I am just SO exhausted. I'm getting about 50 grams of Protein a day plus all of my fluids. I have no issues drinking - can swallow almost as well as pre surgery. I came home on puréeds but mostly just eat soup and Greek yogurt. I feel hungry 5-6 times a day and eat accordingly but haven't taken more than 2-3 tiny bits of anything. Still defending on Protein drinks for energy. I'm down 15.3 lbs since surgery morning. I tried my long-too-small wedding rings on today and they slid right on!! My first NSV -

My doc said that when working out , it's during those plateau periods that your body is trading fat for muscle. You're building muscle which weighs more and losing the fat so it can seem as if your weight is not moving, but you'll be losing inches elsewhere. Try that (tracking your inches) and see what you get. Also, the demon scale doesn't control everything. Look at how your clothes fit, your energy levels, all the little NSVs that your body has for you. -
This was my first NSV! It is a great feeling to once again have a choice of seating when going out. There are plenty more NSV's to come!

We went to a restaurant last night, and i was able to fit in the booth comfortably, where as before I barely fit. I did not ask for a table this time, just to see if it would be OK, and it was, yay. I have been so depressed because weight loss is so slow, but i felt a little better. Even my husband commented on how before i would always ask for a table, and now the booth was just fine

This NSV caught me by surprise

That was really well written! I pictured the whole scene. You should consider writing if you don't already. Love the NSV -
Congratulations on doing so well. I would call that an NSV! I often wonder if I would have done as well with my weight loss if I didn't live alone and had to live with tempting foods laying around? I don't have to exert much will power as it is, I don't buy stuff I know I will be tempted to eat, so it's never in the house.

This NSV caught me by surprise

@@borg/assimilated love the username! That's a great NSV, I was sitting in the chair the other day and pulled my leg up to my lap like I used to do years ago. I didn't even notice for minutes until it hit me. I hadn't been able to do that for the longest time. -

This week I walked my dog down to the small public beach along the beautiful St. Croix river. Kids are back in school so it was a very peaceful morning down there. I sat down on a half buried log to enjoy the view. I was watching some fishing boats go by when I realized that I was hugging my knees to my chest. What? I was astounded that I just naturally did that without thinking about it and that it was comfortable. Six months ago I couldn't/wouldn't have done that. Hurrah for that NSV! I was tickled pink as they say. -
Congrats! I'm not in school anymore, but I remember those seats and I remember the shifting required to let the neighbor pull up his desk. Awesome NSV!
-
So I'm in college, and in some of the big lecture halls they have those tiny seats with the little desks that fold down on the sides of the seats. Before surgery I always had to scoot way over or stand up while the person next to me pulled their desk up because my legs/butt were all squished up against it, holding it down. But today, my friend next to me pulled her desk out and I didn't even notice because my butt was no longer touching the sides of my seat. Whoohoo!

its the most amazingly fun thing to shop off the rack and never go back to casual male. or to the big and tall section. I actually picked up a pair of calvin klein jeans ( regularly 110 bucks) at marshalls, they were amazingly soft, slim fit even! 36 waist and i normally wont pay 39.99 for a pair of jeans, but my wife made me try them on and Wow! , so i had to get them. but even to be able to go to thrift stores and the like is amazing.

Happened to click on the 'YEAR' view on the Health app dashboard on my iPhone. Was amazed to see improvement in walking steps taken over time since my GSV on 4-16-2015. You can clearly see the vast improvement and trend in my ability to walk. What is really awesome is that I have two bad knees, scheduled for replacement before end of year. So, its a miracle that I have improved my walking and steps taken each day this much. A huge NSV indeed -RC-

As of this week's weigh-in (Wednesday) I hit one of my major goals of 200 lbs lost since my highest weight. Here are my stats: HW: 491 (2.5 months prior to surgery) SW: 422 CW: 290.5 Total loss: 200.5!! I'm really exited to have hit this milestone. This month (and last month) has been my slowest rate of loss since surgery and it's been very frustrating for me (even though I'm thankfully not in a stall!), so it was good to make this goal this week! I'm still about 135 from my ultimate goal and my surgeon's ultimate goal for me. It's just crazy to think that I ORIGINALLY had about 335 lbs to lose and now I "only" (haha) have 135 to lose! It's been almost 11 months since my highest weight and I've come so far. It's mind-boggling to me. So, I don't know if anyone else has done this, but I totally threw a party this weekend to Celebrate my accomplishment and invited all my friends/loved ones. I also happen to be moving (about an hour away) this week so I guess technically it was a farewell to my fat party and just a general farewell party! Haha. Definitely something worth celebrating. This is the first proper party I've thrown since surgery, and it went really well. Just as an NSV I feel like parties have historically been very food-centric for me. Snacking the entire time, always going back for more. But this was different. I thought it would be tempting to keep snacking on small amounts and that I would over-eat, but I absolutely did not. This really is a new me! Oh! And I made a really yummy cheesy riced cauliflower dish (made the recipe up myself) that everybody loved! So that's always a plus!

Disappointed with weight loss progress
FinallyFit50s replied to KiteeVA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my six month check up. My surgeon is pleased with my weight loss. I'm finally in the gym and taking Zumba classes. My weight loss has been really slow the last three months, only eight pounds. It's frustrating to see the scale moving so slowly. Meanwhile, shopping for size 12 is fabulous. The NSV are so many, I'm trying to keep them in the forefront, like jogging up the 4 flights of stairs to the Zumba class, when a few months ago I was stopping each floor and panting when I finally did reach the class. -
Rarely is the issue of incontinence brought up. I believe it affects a lot of overweight women. Personally, when I was at my heaviest, I dreaded a cough, sneeze or especially a cold. Relied on poise pads for those awful days. I vote for that NSV to be near the top of my list.⭐️

Trust me, you don't have to be in your fifties to get this! NSVs are the best!

Today I sneezed and didn't wet my pants. Lol us fifties get this...

NSV - just licked the 'pit' of my knee
-
-
OMG that is wonderful! If I was closer to you, I'd give you a big hug and maybe even lick your knee. LOL
-
@mykdsmom, yes indeed!
@lauraellen80, yes, yes yes. Don't ask me why I did it, it was a spur of the moment thing.
And @magicalwoman, the hug would be appreciated, but as lauraellen suggested, the flavor left much to be desired, I don't recommend it

28 year old dude here, HW 347 CW 323 GW 200. I get sleeved in 16 days, and I'm on day 6 of 21 days preop liquid diet. Looking for some inspiration, stories, NSV's, pictures! Anything to keep on my cell phone when cravings arise. I appreciate it! Looking forward to wrestling my life back in order and getting over these food addictions and demons!

@@TXMissy I know how frustrating it is! I am also about 4.5 months out although I started much heavier than you. I also just came off a 10 day stall, and then had the best one week loss ever (even better than right after surgery). I agree with @@James Marusek about putting the scale away and focusing on the inches like you already noted. As you said, your body is adjusting and I bet you will see a nice drop on the other side of this stall. I have found this is a great opportunity to focus on NSVs and other benefits of our process, but I know this doesn't make looking at the same number day after day any easier. Good luck.
