Laneyb_00 replied to JULESDARLN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI...but I'm at day 4 and still no BM....I'm prob gonna get a stool softener today because I need things to move ! I slept all night last and woke in pain because I missed my dose of medicine...I'm on clear liquids but am allowed to have a shake..there have only been two times Ive felt hungry but I drank a shake and was fine..I feel swollen but im thinking it's all the sodium in the broths I've had...I bought low sodium ones but they aren't that good....the best thing I've had so far was I went to my local Chinese place and got some Won Ton soup but asked for the broth only !!! Heaven in my mouth. -
This is gonna be TMI, but after a few weeks of starting the no carb diet, I had it so bad that my bum was bleeding! Drinking a lot more water has helped. I'm sorry if this doesn't help you.

Bouncing on a trampoline 5 weeks out?
Justinh125 replied to Justinh125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I see my surgeon on Monday for my 6-week follow-up anyways, so I'll talk to him about exercising (more than walking) then. Not worth jiggling organs around, though I'll have to do it next time my friends go, it sounds awesome. Plus, the skin around my abdomen is really loose, so I don't know if it would just shake all over the place or what. It used to be firm, but not anymore. (TMI?) -

I have lost 30 lbs and only 12 was before my surgery. I am happy for those that are doing well. I feel almost 100% normal. -

My update.. 4 full days post op (surgery 9/23): so far so good. Got out weds late afternoon, worst pain and "suffering" day, ready to hurt someone, sick of 3 & 4 am dracula visits, being stuck w/something all day/night, etc. got oral delaudid after 10 am. Drain removed day of discharge..felt weird. Slept from.7 pm to 7 am....still waking up every 3 hrs tho, lol. Sent home with tiny 1 mg delaudid, antinausea script, and prevacid script. Also had the atrixia (blood thinner) injections. No nausea or cramping in the pouch yet, just from gas. Right on pureed diet..from weds in hospital. Oatmeal, refried beans, yogurt, etc. fortified all with prot powder. Getting 36-48 oz liquids in for last 2 days. Popsicles rock!!! Hot tea goes down well too..."smooth move" tea to help as laxative. Did take miralax this AM, and a stool softner....finally pooped!! Maybe tmi, but thats a big deal...lol. Got 68g protein in today, walked around the block.... Lingering pain @ incision sites, esp if i twist the wrong way...and some gassy pains that go away with moving/walking, etc. still tired, but scheduling naps. drinking from pink sippy cup and using a baby spoon to eat. Best thing today was choc banana super pudding... SF choc pudding, 1/2 banana mashed, 2c skim milk, 1 envelope unjury choc protein pwdr, blended, chilled. 8g prot per 4 oz. Yum. Thank you God this is going pretty well.so far!!!! no idea how much i lost yet, not looking til post op appt with surgeon on 10/7. HW 231.(feb 2013)...DoSW 222. GW 140 -

i know this is some major tmi, but when they first packed my open wound they sealed it with a tegaderm. When they took it off my skin almost came off with it. Now I have to use paper tape, and anything that touches my skin hurts so bad. It's red, all over looks almost like a rash. Well anyways the paper tape still has to be stuck to that part of my skin, and I think that might be the thing that hurts the most is when I have to peel that off. The nurse gave me some adhesive remover to help but that can only do so much. I just hope this wound doesn't take that long to heal. But it is about 3 inches wide and 2 inches deep. -
Had my 3 mo checkup the other day. Doc said I was right on track, 70 lbs off since I started the journey! Woot. Unfortunately I also have the WORST period of my life (sorry tmi guys). I've been off since surgery and this one came 2 weeks late. Worst headaches, cramps, horrible. Womp, womp!

Dealing with reflux...tips?
HalloweenBaby replied to ctsleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having a lot of reflux also and my surgery is next week. I have noticed since not eating any dairy for the past 24 hrs my reflux isn't as bad. I think I'm lactose intolerant because tmi I normally have a lot of gas if I eat dairy. So try it without dairy ! -
? about getting the stomach flu
Sojourner replied to dolphintattoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As per my surgeon, if you have a stomach virus, and you are going to vomit, there is really no way to stop it from happening. In my experience, anti-nausea medications will not stay down if you have a stomach virus. I did come down with such a virus after being exposed to my son and caring for my 2 young grandsons last Fall. I vomited several times (tmi), and the following day went in for a partial unfill. I stayed with a liquid diet for several days and had no residual ill effects from the episode. It is best to avoid vomiting if you are able, but sometimes it is not possible. Lower your chances of contracting the virus by washing your hands often and keeping them away from your face. -
Well since we are talking TMI,,,I used to be a once a day person in the morning fresh out of bed. Now, if I am lucky I will go twice a week and sometimes just once a week and it is not one of the satisfying ones either. On the flip side it's not like I have to go and cannot. I just don't have to go all that much anymore.

Non Scale Victories ... Please Share Your Ideas & Victories
diana89131 replied to rickyswife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine was on top lol. I was so uncomfortable with my weight that I hated the way I looked. My hubby would tell me I saw you have 2 c sections and I've held your hand when you were sick, I love you no matter what and think your beautiful but I just couldn't do it. Well finally after losing 54 pounds and feeling better about myself. We got a hotel room and I got on top and it was amazing. I was missing out. And the whole time he was telling me how sexy and beautiful I was. It was definitely one for the book lol. Too much tmi sorry -
No problem. I started taking my Vitamins in June. I take Natures Bounty hair, skin and nails. On the bottle is says take two capsules a day but, I only take one because they give me loose stools (sorry, I know TMI) and, I am running for my life to the bathroom, lol. There is a liquid form of Biotin. I don't know if that would be better for you. They sell them on Amazon.com, I have never checked for them at costco. How are you feeling after your surgery? I hope everything went well.

Same for me. I had it pre-sleeve and originally got a colonoscopy after going to my DR for extreme lower left abdomen pain my MRI came back for possible colon cancer, however the colonoscopy showed diverticulitis. This is very very painful.Warning TMI: Your colon or lower intestine forms little pockets that collect food ecspecially nuts. That becomes inflamed and infected and super super painful. They have to treat the infection before they can do the colonoscopy because the intestine is so fragile and could tare easily in this condition. You have to take a special kind of medicine for it that sucks. Sometimes they have to go in and take out that section of your colon or lower intestine because it is too damaged and cant heal. It can hurt into your back and feel like its your kidney. Mine is mostly controlled after battling it for over a year. But I do not eat nuts at all. Not even corn nuts. I never want that back again. Its terrible.

Bowel movement after surgery........how long?
steppy1979 replied to toco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve 9/16/13: TMI past here....... I had full runs on day three, four, and five. Now day six nothing but right side aches that go to my back and they say most likely from no solid matter. They on call (of course over weekend) said no worries cause I am passing gas. I don't have gas pains like i did with lap band thank goodness. Just getting a little worried because the idea of an "enema" is not what i want to be experiencing any time soon! Lol. :0) -
Why, why, why, Delilah?
FitnFabfor2014 replied to AnnMarie1957's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bottle actually recommendations it twice a day but, I honestly can't tolerate it because it makes me run to the bathroom (sorry I know TMI). I know after awhile it would pass but, I think one has worked great for me so far. -
I have started, deleted and restarted this post so many times. It shouldn't be this difficult to write my first post, I have so much to say... I don't want to start at the "beginning" that needs to come, but I am not sure if I am ready to put into words what brought me to the place I am today. So I think I am going to just talk about why this surgery is important to me. The goals I want to achieve with this surgery and what I want to do for myself along the way. Goals Its easy to set a weight loss goal. I have had a number in mind from the first time I stepped foot in a Weight Watchers meeting when I was 23 years old. I picked a number right smack in the middle of the "acceptable" range. 142... The last time I saw a weight that started with a 1 and a 4 was when I was in the 7th grade. There is a part of me that thinks there is no way in this world I will ever EVER achieve that number again. There is a bigger part of me that says I can do this, no I can do this! So in my head I have a few weight loss goals, and reasons. 280: I chose this number because spring of 2012 I worked my butt off for months, with a trainer, 5-6-7 days a week in the gym. Taking step followed by Combat in one day and not blinking an eye. I lost 15# and for the life of me I could not get past 280, I grew frustrated and worried about answering to my trainer and.... I gave up. 261: Forever... my top weight was 261, I mean years. I started Weight Watchers so many times at this number it is unreal. It also happens to be the weight where my body seems to react to my weight and causes a metabolic response that causes me to be irregular with my monthly cycle (Sorry guys if this is TMI but it is true) From the moment we women start menstruating we women complain about how horrid it is, how much it effects our lives. After struggling for the past few years of random 2-3 times a year cycles I can say there is nothing that makes me feel like less of a woman than the fact that I do miss that every month. It might sound crazy but I think the first time I get my cycle two times in a row I will probably cry... 220: The one and only time I have been completely successful in a weight loss journey was 5.5 years ago. I counted every damn calorie I stuck in my mouth, I counted every damn calorie I burned on the eliptical, I worked hard and it showed. I had someone, that I respect very much, tell me I was like a rose getting ready to bloom any day. I WILL be that rose someday.... and I can't wait. 199: Who doesn't have this as a goal? The last time I weight around this weight was after I gave birth to my son. My pregnancy was not the cause of my weight gain. I started my pregnancy at 190# I gave birth to my son at 204# and the day I left the hospital I weight 189#. Yes I was overweight, I admit it, but I was OK. I don't really have a goal between 199 and 142. I don't know where I will land. I know this... I will not stop until I am happy. I love strength, I love muscle and there is nothing that makes me happier than showing up my friends on the gym floor with the weights. We have a University in my town that does body composition testing with the egg thing, once I get to the point where I feel I am close to a goal or I am feeling comfortable I am going to get a full body composition. I did this to lose weight and be healthy, I want to have a healthy body fat percentage and I want it to be accurate. More than anything... Size 2, Size 22 I am doing this for me, and only me. I want to be healthy and truly happy for the first time in a really really long time. I can't wait to add more along the road! I leave you with a picture of me and my pride and joy. I always wanted FIVE children and God has blessed me with one perfectly imperfect son. I know I will have more children someday, more than likely through adoption or marriage but.... you never know! He is my reason.... He is my soul.... He is my life.... He is rotten... and makes me work for kisses (typical 14yo)

Bowel movement after surgery........how long?
Shells_Almost_There replied to toco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So on day 4 (friday for me), my doctor's office said I had to take Milk of Magnesia because I needed to poo by/on Day 5. If nothing's coming out, it is not going to be fun. So yesterday midday and then again last night I had the Milk of Magnesia and it didn't happen until 4 a.m. and then 6 a.m. Most painful events of my life thus far that I can remember but thank god that's over. My advice: Don't wait - buy the cherry flavor MoM and drink up. I was warned if it didn't happen "naturally" I would be required to get an enema -- Words that scared me enough to drink MoM twice! What a nightmare, but at least it's over now. This is so TMI, but I hope it helps out. -

1 month monday down 48 lbs
wannabaloser replied to crystal916's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost 40 pounds in one month and 10 days and I don't see it either. Everyone else does though. I am like you with Protein shakes. I am making smoothies with the powder to try to lile it better. I also either have diarrhea (sorry, tmi) or horrible heartburn after I do the Protein drinks. I had energy issues the first week or so but now I feel great. I am super glad I chose this surgery and honestly ig I don't lose another pound I will still be happy. -
September Sleevers New Jersey
SJMusicalman103 replied to NickieLo339's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Sept 11th in Camden County... I have had amazing care... I had a side effect from the operation and had to come home with a catheter... It came out 3 days after I came home... Right now I'm constipated (TMI, sorry) and trying to get relief... The second day I was home I ha HORRIBLE gas cramps... My doc told me to take GasX, drink more fluids and walk and it had worked wonders... Now I'm taking both Colace and Miralax in the hopes that it will relieve to constipation (under doctor's) orders.. I was a little discouraged a my first weigh in because I didn't lose as much as I wanted... My doc reassured me that it would come off.. My biggest piece of advice is try not to compare your weight loss to any other sleeve patient (as far as the numbers go)... Best of luck to you! -
Bowel movement after surgery........how long?
Chelsi replied to toco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the 18th and I haven't even farted (sorry for the TMI), I've only burped. So I was starting to worry myself. -
What are people doing to keep constipation at bay? I was in the ER all day yesterday due to a blockage....(I don't recommend it----it's ugly and so is the procedure to get rid of it)....they fixed me, and all is almost good......but I can't help be concerned about recurrences......I drink 40-60 oz and include 1 or 2 premier Protein drinks a day....and being made of whey, which is from dairy, I'm wondering if that's constipating? The ER docs said to stay away from dairy......I'm still only able to eat 2oz at a time....3oz if it's very moist.....so I have depended on those drinks..... So, what are you doing to keep regular? Many thanks (sorry if this was TMI)
-
So I know this may be TMI but I can't be the only person dealing with this issue... When I first got home I had diarrhea which I know is normal after surgery... Now, for the passed 2 days I am constipated.. I took 1 colace last night and 3 today... I know it says it takes 12-72 hours to work... I am getting 64 ounces of water and walking every day.. I am on full liquids right now... Should I be alarmed or is this pretty normal? Any words of wisdom would be great! Thanks y'all!
