    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Can I add an NSV? Actually 2 of them. On Friday I went to the nursing station for a pinched nerve in my back, and the doctor said to me... you have the vitals of an athlete... bp was 117/75 and resting pulse was 51. Wow... I can't belive that. And to top it all of, on Saturday I ran a 5 k in under 40 mintues... which has been a goal of mine for a while. Just thought I would share. I'm no longer on one of my hypertension meds....I don't expect to come off the other one though....even if (I mean when!) I get to goal....I've had hypertension since my early 20s (when I was thin). So, going off one of 'em I find to be a major NSV. Also, I bought a size 18 pants the other night and they fit!!! YEEEEHA. I fell in love with another pair of jeans and bought them at size 16....course I can't do 'em up...but I will soon enough...and then they will last me longer!

    A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Oooh Yoda, my name looks so good in Green! And you are right but I am blonde inside and out and I still haven't gotten around to it and so I am having to rely on those NSVs. Well, I've been experiencing the good and the bad. The good is that my 2 most favourite pairs of baggy trousers are starting to get a little too baggy. I am now having trouble with crotch management. The bad news is that one of my best friends didn't notice a thing. Finally, after 4 hours he said that he thought that my stomach looked smaller. Initially he had said that he didn't see any difference. My Scottish cousin (who is over for a visit) didn't notice any difference but he tends to march to a different drummer. He did notice the price of the bag I was looking at a Winner's, though! LOL I find myself on a bit of an emotional roller coaster when it comes to dealing with these responses or lack of responses to my perceived weight loss. I was banded on Sept. 7 and when people do remark on my weight loss I think that maybe I might be losing too quickly and that this will mean that I will lose my hair 6 months down the road. On the other hand, when my weight loss is invisible to them I am disappointed too. This is likely how we all feel but I thought that I would mention it.

My NSV happened shortly after I read about Woodys's and Choe's. My husband told me he thought I was losing weight too fast! Hah! This means that he sees weight loss and that's a good thing.

Yah, I was totally pleased. Oh, I said, do you really think I'm losing weight too fast? Why do you say that? I must have made him repeat it about 3x. Of course I still haven't got my act together to buy a scale or a measuring tape so all I can go on are the NSVs, eh. I am now officially allowed mushies so I bought some hummus in a can. I'm gonna make myself scrambled eggs with cheddar and salsa. First time I've cooked since I've been banded. Now that's gonna be weird!

    May Bandsters~February Chat!

Well, it's March but I haven't been able to post for a while because of work. When I'm on my dayshifts, I just don't get a chance to get on the computer because I just come home, eat a little and go to bed. Then everyone in my house has been sick with the flu....my youngest son sounds like a comsumption patient.....and I have been trying to deal with that. Luckily, all I got a running nose and a bit of a cough, but that's about it. I did have a GREAT NSV this weekend. I decided to "Clean Sweep" my bedroom. And in the great purge I found a set of chaps that my DH had bought me last summer in hopes that I could wear them this summer. So I got brave, slipped them on, buckled up and they fit!!!!! They are a men's size M and a bit long (everything I own is a bit long anymore) but they fit in the legs and around the waist. So now I can be a WARM biker babe when the snow melts enough to go for a ride. It's funny, clothes still catch me by surprise. I put on a pretty salmon colored sweater the other day, thinking it was a nice spring sweater and it was just hanging on me. Made me happy, but also a bit sad because I REALLY need to get some new nice weather clothes. Marz - I'm so glad to hear about your nephew. Hopefully things will continue to go good for him. OU - you look great! Linda - you have lost an amazing amount and you do so much more exercise than I do! You are my inspiration to get "back in the groove" with my walking. For all of you that are still sick.....Get well quick!

Congrats everyone on their NSVs. Somewhere on this site is a clothing exchange if anyone is interested. Cloe, I'm sure your brand new coat would be very much appreciated by someone else who may not be able to afford to buy new clothing every time their weight changes. I am glad that I am able to wear uniforms at work. They are very forgiving, I could probably lose or gain 4 sizes before having to replace them.
  10. NSV today! I fit into an XL top and bottom! I can't remember the last time I could. I am so happy!!

    April Exercise Challenge

I could have had more, but just decided against it. Didn't want that many, just got caught up in my first basemans 40th b-day. I'm going to limit myself to 2 tops each game night. Just have to make sure to bring a couple bottles of water to reach for in the cooler instead of a beer. Forgot about another nsv last night. The last few years, after playing doubleheaders, I'd go out with the guys and sit around for awhile. By the time I got home, my knees were so stiff and sore, I could barely get out of the truck. Last night, I didn't even think about them when I got home. This morning, my legs were a little stiff from the sprinting, but after a shower, they were fine. One more reason to be shouting about the great things the Lap Band can do for someone.

    NSV Jeans....

Way to go!!! BTW I thought NSV was New Size Victory LOL
  16. I just had to share a fabulous NSV... I saw a co-worker today that I hadn't seen in over a month or so....she said, "wow - you look fantastic - like 10 years younger" Yay me!!! It's funny, because I look in the mirror and see ALOT more wrinkles as I lose the fat in my face - but evidently that's not what others are seeing! It certainly boosted my confidence today and made me go for those 12k steps that I was going to put off today :-)!!!
  17. How did it go? That's a great NSV!
  18. NSV- I have started using the app couch to 5k (c25k). I ran/ walked 2 miles today. My miles were under 16 min each. :-) Fay, I hear you about the hair EVERYWHERE. It's crazy--thinking about it and having a coat for the winter made with it. Ok, not really but jeez!!!
  19. Going back to work this morning so I start getting dressed and damned pants fell off! Holy cow! Guess its time to go buy new work pants. Thank god for a good belt. I look like MC Hammer but oh well. Lol

How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh daily, in the morning when I get up, in my birthday suit. 😂 But I’m going to put my scale away for a while. I feel myself starting to obsess over the number and pick myself apart about what I must be doing wrong. The truth is I’m following my plan and doing some moderate exercise (walking and light weight lifting) but my weight loss isn’t nearly as fast as I had hoped. I’m 6 weeks out and have lost 18 pounds. So right now I’m in the process of adjusting my expectations, trying to celebrate my NSVs (like the fact that I’m wearing pants I haven’t been able to wear in years!) and trying to remind myself that I’m so early in this journey, my body has been through a lot and I need to appreciate the process even when it’s tough. I wish the same for you!

    Dreaming

of the days I can shop in the regular sizes, walk a lot and not get tired, have more energy, be more active, not worry about seat belts not fitting... I know there's a lot of these kinds of posts but when I'm having a bad day that's full of nausea and I'm feeling like a failure, this is what I think about. A small NSV for me is since I've lost 22 lbs., whenever I go to the store or go out and about, I don't get SUPER sweaty. I live in AZ so it's in the 100s right now, but I used to sweat for NO reason. Now, I only sweat when I'm in the heat for a prolonged amount of time. I don't sweat when I'm just walking around a store or anything. It's so nice.

    HUGE NSV... had to share...

That's a great NSV for you. However, for me, if the salespeople had been snooty with me prior, I'd be shopping elsewhere!
  23. Well, it's a strange one, but I finally tried on some smaller underwear I bought a month ago. Size large -- not XXL (where I started), not even XL, just large! -- boxer briefs now fit like a glove. Not too snug, not too baggy! And my size 42 waist jeans that I bought a month ago because my 48's that I started with were literally falling off me are now pretty baggy. I have some 40's that were hand-me-downs -- they're too long in the inseam -- and even they are starting to fit loosely. I should be in 38's before the end of the year. For me, getting below 40-inch jeans is a HUGE achievement, since I've been in 40+ inch waist jeans for more than 10 years now. Dare I dream that before this process is over, I'll be back in the 36-inch waist jeans I fit into back in high school? That would be 12 inches off my waistline... wow! Incremental progress, but it's all going in the right direction, and I'm starting to get excited about it. I'm feeling positive about my body for the first time in a decade or longer, and it's just going to keep getting better!
  24. Yeah,..had me a bit concerned too LOL we'll wait for the update I'll tell you one thing... I had gone to a thrift store and found a beautiful braided belt for $1.00 only to find out it was COACH!!! It was WAY too small for me (at the time) so I was going to sell it... found it after we recently moved...and I had room to spare...talk about your NSV!!! I love wearing it...it is truly a "symbol" for me even tho no one else sees it LOL
