How was goal weight determined?
Babbs replied to Freckles70's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was being realistic. I'm close to 50, so I didn't want to get too low. I just decided on the high end of BMI for my height. Then I wanted a buffer, so I kept going and lost another 9 or 10. My OCD kicked in, and I thought why not go for the even 100 pound loss and lose 5 or 6 more pounds to get to 135, and my body said NOPE. I've been maintaining between 140-143 for about 3 months now without doing anything much differently. Apparently my body likes where I'm at, and that's okay. I like where I'm at, too Keep in mind, as you can see, your goal weight may change the closer you get or even once you get there. You kind of start doing the proverbial "how low can I go?" game. But my body ended up telling me. -
I have had 3 fills totaling 3.5cc. I had my surgery on 12/30/09. My last .5ccs was on 05/19/09. I find myself being unable to digest more foods such as bread, tuna, salmon, and beef. Since I have not lost anymore since my last fill I feel I may need another adjustment. I was advised to come in every six weeks if I am not losing 1-2 pounds a week. I am just nervous that soon I won't be able to eat not much other than pureed food. Is this what I have to look forward to? I am missing something. I even have that uncomfortable feeling like something is stuck in my throat when I drink something too fast. Any advice will be appreciated.

Tell me your 6/7 week stats and what you're eating/ate! Would love to know. I'm in a stall right now. I've been in a stall for a while. I'm doing okay though! SW: 264.4 CW: 231 I'm tolerating everything fine. Can really feel restriction now to an extent. I wasn't the first 4 weeks which scared me. I'm tolerating all foods and trying all allowed foods. Which is everything right now. Minus the obvious. Today I went to taco Mac. Got three roasted wings down. Was stuffed as a goose. Crazy I used to eat 10! Question For Those Taking Heartburn/reflux Meds
marfar7 replied to livvsmum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My dr instructed me to take whatever pills I hafta take as soon as I was able. I cut back on my pills the first few weeks (also PPI in capsule form, but I just take the whole capsule) but had to resume taking my Gabapentin ( a HUGE horse pill) after 3 weeks cuz my back was KILLING me. Now, I take whatever pills I needs to take (Chewable vit, b12, Calcium, 2 different pain pills, pill for my thyroid, PPI, and birth control. Oh and my nightly sleeping pill). I've had absolutely no problems taking pills. I used to pop about 8-10 of them at once, but I've vut that back to 2. Then 5 minutes later, another 2 And so on -

UHC - how long for a response?
Twinkles replied to Keia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My employer also put in a 6 month, supervised diet qualification that I had to meet, but after I met that, I was submitted on a Wednesday and approved the following Monday. Surgery was scheduled for 10 days later. I was surprised at how quick it was. -
Has anyone gained after surgery
cinderella8 replied to Bakergrl214's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 10 pounds after surgery. I asked to get on the field during one of my walks around the hospital floor. I was flabbergasted when I saw the extra weight. That came off in about a week and a half. I had my sleeve on 12/5. I've lost 23.7 from my starting weight before surgery. I'm starting to slow down now. I think I need to pick up the exercise a bit more Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hey all! I was banded 10/8/08. I have been feeling incrediable, but today I am having some port pain. I am not sure where this has come from. Did any of you find that a few weeks later that the nerves started getting back in gear? Or is this something that I should start getting worries about?

The first four to six weeks are not for losing weight. Some people do, some don't. Now is the time to heal. Start monitoring all of your calories - use something like The Daily Plate. Get a fitness monitor, Fit Bit is $99 and offers online diet tracking and will monitor your activity. Move more and make sure you're not drinking calories. Eating what you're eating at 19 days out is totally normal and acceptable. Though doctors suggest liquids, mushies, soft, then adding foods gradually - you may drive yourself mad sticking to that. Just east sensibly. Two other things to note: Women will gain between 5-10 lbs every month just by biological nature. It comes off a week or so later. After starting back to new foods you may gain 1-10 lbs in Water weight (from the salt content) but you'll lose it within a week. You'll learn that when you eat very clean six days a week then indulge on that seventh day that you can gain anywhere from 5-10 lbs as a woman (men can gain 15-25 lbs) all in water weight. Within a week it's gone and you're likely down an extra pound or two. I hope that helps a bit.

This is my first fall/winter after wls in August. My weight loss started early this year. So this time last year I was the heaviest I've ever been, and now I'm over 120 pounds less than my highest. I'm experiencing the super-happy annoyance of having no warm clothes that fit me for the first time ever. For me, it was basically my experience since puberty started at 10 years old that I could pretty much expect to need a new coat and new wardrobe in general every winter. This year, my wardrobe consists of lots of cheap leggings, and layers of too-big hoodies. Even though this kinda sucks and worries me for financial reasons, I just can't feel in any way upset about it.

Prayers PLEASE!!!!
Angela Sims replied to Angela Sims's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Well folks I still need prayers... I have yet to get my return and the IRS can not give me a reason... This is BS... I call every other day and nothing after the initial 30 days they send a message to a different dept. and say to give it another 30 days... That was on 3/25 so I am in waiting... I have talked to Sandy and She is waiting until 4/8 to hear back from me... I just really need prayers.. This has gotten me so down that I am not wanting to get out of the bed.. I am a mother of 3 (son is 15 and twin girls 10) also 1 of my daughters has Down Syndrome and needs extra care.. I have got to get healthy so I can take care of her.. My mother in law lives with us and takes care of the things I can't.. helping her bath and stuff... But that is my job.. PLEASE KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS.. Angela -
It's Time. Did you "indulge" because you were sort of burnt out and needed a break from the program? The reason why I ask is because we had surgery about the same time and I was finding myself getting sort of burnt out. Plus I felt it would be way too much to expect my dear hubby to not only have to care of me for 10 days but also to weigh/measure my food. I am just so grateful that he was more than willing to do everything on top of taking excellent care of me. I guess I justed needed a break and now I'm ready to get back on the program. I'm sure we will both succeed.

Has anyone been able to actually feel what your'e drinking going down?
1hotmommy replied to mantusmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was Banded on Sept 12th and I am like you I can feel it when I eat sugar free pudding or Jello. I also went to Target and bought me these 3oz plastic Solo cups they are like the ones you use in the bathroom for a small drink. Since I use them it helps me know how much Fluid I am putting in my body so that I do not over do it and get to full. I even use it for the jello or the cream of wheat. I have not once been sick or nauseated. I also just went to the doctor for my ten day check up and I lost 10 pounds and have already lowered my blood pressure. I also wanted to tell you about this Protein Drink I bought it is called Pro 5 and it is the best tasting Protein drink I have ever had it also mixes very well with a shaker cup with a cold bottle of Water and there are no clumps. So this is perfect if you are working. I mix it with 6oz of water then I have gotten in 34 grams of protein. You will have to look it up online and find out who distributes it in your area. -
Best Protein Powder Post Op
Nikkipit replied to awillaweigh328's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the unjury unflavored Protein mix and it goes in everything! I also like the Unjury chicken Soup protein mix. I am still on liquids. ... day 10 post op sleeve and love the chicken soup one!!!! Sent from my SM-J320F using the BariatricPal App -
I am compelled to join and say the unjury choc splendor is literally the BEST Protein powder I have ever tried (and we've been through at least 10 others). Just ordered 2 more today. It tastes like chocolate milk, and is the only powder I've found that dissolves well. And no chalky protein taste. Literally none! I wish someone would have told me this before I wasted hundreds on other powders!

On the last run to home.
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh replied to able2cope's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can do it, but remember you want to be at a stable weight before having skin surgery. If that means you need to wait another month or 2, so be it. You dont want to lose 10 pounds before surgery to just put it back on and start stretching out the new skin. -
I am the same way and I work 3 - 15 1/2 hr days a week on my feet most of it. My surgery was 4/10 I was back to work 10 days post-op. It wore me out.

So I had surgery on Monday 9/19 everything went well, I'm now day 5 out I'm feeling tons better gas pains come and go and mainly in my shoulders. My question is, since day 3 when I get up I have to hold my belly. One of my incisions next to my belly button feels like its pulling because of the weight of my belly. They gave me a belly binder to where and yea it does help for the most part but I have to wear it in order to not hold that part if my stomach ... Has anyone else had this problem and how long did it last ? TIA Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
