Hello thanks for writing back
I live in Northern california. I have jumped through all the hoops just waiting for insurance to say yes. I have blue shield they said it is the easiest and fastest to reply. My doctor is here in town. He has a center of execellace which I understand is important.
Did you see my stats are we close. I am crossing my fingers for the next two weeks sugery . I am married since 92 have two childrens a daughter who is going to be 14 in sept and a son who is 11. They are all backing me. My hubby is a bit nerious about as he says going under the knife... But I need help dieting alone just doesnt work for me. My family was complety against the bypass. We had a neighbor do this she looks great weight wise but not healty not to sure eating habits have changed much.
Look forward to getting to know you and hopefully having a buddy

I gained 7lbs the first day I was on steroids! lol, I was really swollen - I am lost most of it - I am still up 3lbs from my original loss - it is true - I starved and ate like a pig and had NO restriction while on steroids. I don't get it. Today I am tighter than I have ever been - ever. I can only eat 2-3 bites and I feel almost sick. I am sure it will even out soon. Hopefully I will lose those 3lbs plus 1 for good measure :-)

That's good, the money part sure does suck!....Have you been able to maintain your weight with all the meds?

Hey Sue!
Thanks for the update! I know that you are a very smart and intellgent woman and know that you have gone through both options with a fine tooth combe and made the right decsion for you. Even though we may not be getting the same type of surgery we still both would of had weight loss surgery. Im happy to hear that you will still be sticking around on the site (actually i think there is a section on the forum now for people who have other types of WLS).
Speaking of needles i just put a vlog up showing everyone my heparin needle lol lol Couldnt help myself!! lol lol It feels so wierd injecting myself in teh mornings. I normally put them in my stomach, but i did this one in my thigh today and it felt ok.

livingmydream,
Thanks for your input on my blog. I have decided to tell my husband, for obvious reasons. I will tell my parents, I think it will be therapeutic for me. I have some issues with them and for me, telling them will also be telling them that I am a grown woman capable of making decisions for myself. Does that make sense?
One of my issues is that I tend to be a people pleaser, at the detriment to myself at times. My parents want me to loose weight, but they want me to do it THEIR way.
I just really feel it is time for me to step out of the shadow of my silblings and be myself.

I have gained more than 50 pounds since having a couple of surgeries - one for breast cancer. I will be banded next Thursday and I would love to know what to expect the first two weeks after surgery.

I wish I had the will power to only weigh myself every two weeks! I weigh myself every single day! Lol!
But it's a good way of tracking ouR progress. During the week my weight goes up and down, but I only count the Friday weight to see how I did over the week. And don't worry about posting every week - it's only there so we can support one another, so posting whenever you DO weigh yourself will be great!

Thanks for the compliment! My profile pic is my goal weight. I was drugged, sexually assaulted, and then 2 mos. later was robbed in my car at gun point! I put on about 40 lbs. and then got on anti-depressants. 60 lbs. in 2 mos!!!! I am so happy to be banded. I felt like there was no way out. I was self-destructing, and not wanting to be noticed. The good Lord looked out for me, and I am now in a much better place! Good luck to you! Let me know how it goes!!! You will be so happy! I have lost 20 lbs. so far, but I just got my second fill and can tell a huge difference!!! I am dropping weight. You are just a year older than me! We can both encourage each other easily! My pic is my motivation, plus my health!!!! Good luck!

Hello blue! I don't know if you have heard my story, but the pic is my goal. It was taken about 4 years ago. I was drugged, sexually assaulted, and then 2 mos. later I was robbed at gunpoint in my car. I put on 40 lbs. and then got on anti depressants. I then put on 60 lbs. in 2 mos. I didn't want to be noticed. Then, I got miserable. I feel young but like I can't dance and do the things I used to. Luckily, I have had my second fill as of Tuesday. Things are going great! I have lost 20 lbs. and I am sure the weight will come off more quickly. This second fill has made a big difference! How about you and your weight loss?

hey trish thanks for checking up on me ..how much weight have you lost..and honestly did you eat some things during the pt. before you were banded that you don't personally feel affected by...but, that wasn't exactly pertaining to your diet? I want to know b/c I am a victim of that too..I'm guilty as charged...lol..but, things have been going well other than that..i get my walking in...and I'm back working...and going to school full-time as well...I'm ready to drop this weight and become a thinner more adventurous me.!

hi cometchaser - i'm sorry i didn't see this message. probably by now you've gotten some answers... my surgeon required pre-weight loss ( a % of body weight i think) to shrink my liver - so that she could move it more easily during surgery. i've heard this is very common and that most surgeons require this step.
it was extremely frustrating for me because it took me 8 months to lose 6 lbs - and i had to lose 10. i had to change to another program with a different surgeon that offerred optifast before surgery (medical fast where you drink their protein shakes and protein bars only and i did that and lost the pre-surgery weight finally). took me 3 years to get the surgery because i changed programs. but i had it on 6/10/08 and it is going very well! stick with it - it's so worth it!!!!!!

I can't believe we were late today! Such bad bandsters we are. It was really fun to see you...you made me crack up during that whole class! When I got back to work, I had FOOD! I don't think it was the perfect choice, but it went down good and I feel pretty full. I ate about half of a Weight Watchers meal...turkey and about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. Carbs...I know, but it was all that was available. I wouldn't say that I'm totally FULL, but I'm not starving like I was and I think I'm satisfied enough to make it to dinner! I'm getting my fill on Tuesday, September 2! WOO HOO! I'm really looking forward to that! When's your next appointment?

I was in a 22W. I shopped at Lane Bryant for all my clothes. Now I am in a 18. I can go into any store that has size 18, and i'm loving it. I go into my favorite store now "New York & Company." I want to get to a size 14 and just maintain my weight.

No Degas for me - just peppermint tea and loads of walking. Walking, even now, helps with the gas build up after I eat. And man, is there a LOT of gas! LOL!
I'm glad the pre-op appt went well - I think you've been a champ on your diet, you're doing so well! Despite not losing much weight at the mo, I'm still really positive that this the change we've been looking for. And if your dr's right, then you and I are definitely on the road to weight loss city!
And yeah, work has quite good kitchen facilities, but because I start work early and finish late, I don't often feel motivated to make something to bring in. But today I walked to the shops about 20 mins away and got some prawns in coconut curry. Luckily I still tolerate spicy foods really well, so they were nice. I'll keep going there I think. Plus it forces me out of the office and into some exercise.
Damn I wish you were closer to me! We could chat about this stuff in person!

That is great about the clothes, not about the work or the crotch
I have a selection of work clothes that will get me through quite a few kilos of my loss which is great!
Canteen food tends to be like that, I hope you can bring in your own or have somewhere near you that has healthier options for those days you can't be bothered making your lunch!
Do you have an area you can heat up your own food??
I will definitely be taking the 2 weeks!! And no it isn't long now!! Had my preop with the surgeon today! Just a formality, only 15minutes. He did say that there appears to be a correlation between those who lose weight well on the preop doing well after the surgery
Preop Nurse Friday! Did you use Degas after your surgery??

Hey lady welcome to the forum! Your family definitely has my prayers and I wish you much success on your weight loss journey

Hi maddiegirl, I will be having surgery with Dr. Park hopefully July or August. I would really like to know what your pre-op diet was and how much weight you had to lose. If you don't mind sharing i would truly appreciated.
