I tested positive for H pylori too. I had a lot of the same symptoms you did. The bitter taste lasted for the whole 14 days I was on the meds. When I'd eat, I'd get that weird cramping too. I hope this is not TMI but I was on the potty for 40 minutes trying to pass whatever it was, almost puked while I was in there & almost fainted too every day the cramping got better though.

My recovery has been ok, lots of gas! (TMI) so I have been doing a lot of walking and taking gas x strips. Just wondering are you suppose to be this gasy and when does it go away? And im starting to be hungry more than I thought I would, I would never eat nothing that would land me back in the hospital, but any ideas of what to try? Chkn broth is gettin boring.LOL

I still can't tolerate cooked broccoli ( or uncooked for that matter). It gives me horrible gas and diarrhea(sorry tmi). I got the ok to start on uncooked veggies but haven't tried yet, I'm a little scared. I haven't tried Beans either and we are going to make chili this weekend, so I will be trying those for the first time. There isn't much I can't tolerate, sweets included. I haven't tried bread or rice either.

Im having no problem getting liquids down, any consistency, any temp, and I'm just curious how you can tell when your ready to move into puréed. Coughing and dry heaving we're EXTREMELY painful in the hospital, so I want to avoid vomiting at all costs. Also, I know this is TMI, but how long before people had a bowel movement? I'm not surprised that I haven't had one since there isn't much in me, but I don't want to go too long without one.

Update!!! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since surgery. I'm still on my liquid stage and will be until Thursday (Argghh). It is not easy, let me tell you this. I was doing really good and the last couple days, I've been dragging. I had some left incisional pain on after going to the mall and the movies and walking the mall. It didn't last long, but was enough to remind me "Girl, you know you had surgery, right?!" So I took it easy for 2 days. Also I didn't mind at first if people ate around me, but now if people even talk about what they are going to eat, it annoys me. My parents called me and left a message a few days ago saying if you call back and we're not here, it's because we're going to get lunch! Ok- why didn't you just call me after? They came over along with my cousin and her baby (he's such a cute little distraction) yesterday which was nice- until everyone started talking about FOOD! Even the baby was eating peach cobbler!!! Granted it was the baby form, but boy was he into it! So cute! Anyway, it's still a little hard getting in the fluids. I'm using Enspira shakes and vitamins. I'm still not able to drink 3- the paperwork does say 1-3 though. I do mix the vitamin into the shake and because of the taste of the shake to begin with, you can't taste the vitamin. The shake is not very sweet and if you don't have a good blender you may not like it. I bought a Ninja blender (which is great by the way) and blend it to death, and it's still a little gritty, but to my own surprise I don't mind it! I'm over the soups except for French onion which is my fav. I may have to go to a restaurant and get a soup I like to strain. I do have Unjury chicken soup and may revisit it. You do have to take calcium and you can't take the vitamin too close to the calcium so man it's hard to get a schedule going. I'm not a medicine taker so that's hard for me. Other noted happening- no bowel movement! I hadn't had one for 8 days postop so I contacted the nut who said I'm not drinking enough fluids and if I needed it I could take MOM. I took one dose last Tuesday which didn't work. I took another on Wed which did ultimately work. No painful cramping either-smooth moves (TMI)!! Don't judge me moment- since I am a nurse, I do know how to start IVs on myself and did give myself some IV fluids last Sunday. To my defense I've done this for years since I work excessively and don't always have time to drink needed water at work. I've seen so many people go to the hospital on here for dehydration and I can do it myself so I save the ER co-pay! All in all, I am doing ok. I just have to focus and make sure to get my vitamins in. {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(} -
Its a show on the Travel Channel that stars Adam, a food challenger that travels the US taking food challenges. Like. 4 lbs buger with 2 lbs of fries that he has to finish in 30 minutes. Or finishing 50 super hot wings in 30 minutes. Ot how bout the 6 lbs of deep fried turkey nuts he eats in 60 minutes? Today I saw him finish a 9 lb steak platter in 1 sitting. He's successful in about 90% of the challenges. It grosses me out, makes my tummy hurt, but at the same time it pulls me in. He's a little chubby but by@no means obese. Not sure if he eats at any other time. I ate about 2 oz too much last nite and paid for it on the toilet (sorry, tmi). I can't imagine finishing 9 lbs of food. Can u imagine? Toward the end of any challenge, u see him getting a little sick, mouth start watering, sweating. Not sure if he ever vomits (of course it never shows that part). I think my tummy would rupture at about 1/10th of his challenges. And I'm being totally serious when I say RUPTURE. Anyone else watch this show? Like I said, it makes me cringe, sometimes making my stomach turn but it always pulls me in....

May slow losers - vent here!
Xine78 replied to k8ee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This past week I really started focusing on tracking all of my calories. On Monday I ate as I normally would (post surgery ofcourse) just to see what my intake was. I was going waaay over 800. So I started modifying what I ate. Its still hard for me to stay at 800 but I'm trying foods to keep it low. My goal now is 800-1000. And that still might be too much. Anyway my weighin day is Friday. So in the few days that I've been reducing my calories, I lost 1.5lbs. I know that doesn't sound like much but I was thrilled! !! This is tmi But I also have my period and hadn't gone to the bathroom in a few days so I with factoring in that, I was proud! -
Today was the first day since I had surgery that we decided to go out to eat. I realized, there are way too many incompetent people out there. First we went to Wendys. I ordered a small chili and minute maid 15 calorie lemonade. They gave me a 'natural' lemonade and said they no longer had the other (even though it was an option on their fountain drinks). I asked them if it had sugar in it and they said no. So, I almost drank it. Then decided to look it up. In the 16 oz cup, it had 25 grams of sugar!! I took it back up there and complained and she acted like I was crazy. Then, my Mom took us to a mexican place. I ordered a regular taco salad which should of had chicken, cheese, lettuce, tomato. They gave me something that had all that plus green peppers, onions, and like two inches of grease. I complained, and the guy couldn't speak enough english to understand what I was saying, so I ate a few bites. I am now trying to fight the urge to vomit (TMI). It will be a long time before I EVER eat out again.

I know this might be tmi. But does anyone now get acne/boil ( pimple bumps )on their body? Ie inner thighs, underarms, under your breast and even on a stretch mark? My dermatologist called it hidradenitis? I just wanted to know if it got better after weight loss.

I actually went there last week thinking they still had their angus burgers and I could get one if those bunless and be ok. Um, NO! They don't have them anymore. So I got the home style burger bunless. I ended up having the runs (sorry, probably tmi) several times. NEVER doing that again. Sent from my iPhone using VST

I will I weigh in on Thursdays. I fully expect to still be a slow loser even with weight watchers but I'm confident that this may be what I was missing all along on my journey. I haven't told my leader about wls and don't plan to. She seems very open minded but I don't think it's any of their business. I do plan on signing up for the "monthly pass" since I'm basically paying the same with the week to week or pay as you go plan. Since I lost almost 3 pounds my first week, I'm not expecting a big loss this week and wouldn't be surprised if I maintained. Also it's that TOM :/ (sorry TMI) but I've still counted every point and haven't gone over my weekly points. -
Feeling like a failure (vent)
Teachamy replied to ria90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The TMI part of your post made me think about Celiac (gluten intolerance). I was diagnosed 6 yrs. ago, and I NEVER EVER thought I would have it--I am a carb. addict, after all. Maybe the next time you are getting blood work done, you could ask them to check that for you too. It can cause weight gain/retention, for those of us "lucky" enough to have weight issues. -
I was sleeved 10/22/12. My starting weight was 285lbs day of surgery. Now, almost a year later I am only down 70lbs. I know that it is not horrible weight loss but, my goal was -100lbs for my one year post op weigh in. I feel like a complete failure. I also feel like some of the side effects that my doctor had told me would happen (loss of appetite/feeling full quicker) have never happened with me. I do get full but only after I've already eaten almost double what I should have. I've never had a loss of appetite... infact sometimes I feel uncontrollable hunger and after eating a meal, I will continue to eat after the fullness sensation has worn off (usually 1 hour after) Sometimes after I eat I do feel extremely nauseous, weak and sometimes even get a little sweaty and have to immediately lay down. ((CAUTION TMI)) During these moments of agony I always need to run to the bathroom and have a painful, foul smelling loose bm. I have been treated for anemia and b12 deficiency the past month and still feel very depressed and fatigued. I have ZERO energy and almost feel like I'm giving up sub consciously... I haven't lost more than 10lbs in the past 5 months. I am feeling so down and depressed. This is a vicious cycle that is so hard to overcome. Food addiction-> slow progress-> depression-> lack of energy-> back to food addiction. I hope I can snap out of this. I still have -40 lbs to lose until I will be satisfied.

Wow there are so many I could list but here is a small list. I will spare you all by omitting the TMI ones. Walked a 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness back in Sept. 18 months ago I couldn't walk the Supermarket for 10 minutes! Next year I am planning a team for Relay for Life. Gone from a size 62 jeans to a size 40!! No longer shelling out big money for Big&Tall and Catalog clothing. $17 bucks for jeans at Walmart Ability to go to any restaurants and no longer have to wait for a table when there are booths available Sitting in any chair without the fear of breaking it. Still I have reservations because I sometimes forget I am not as big as I was. Going to a movie theater and worry about whether or not the arm rests are movable Not only did I attend my buddies Wedding this past Summer but I was in it!! AND I was styling in that Tux. Adjusting my seat up in my truck and tilting the steering wheel a bit Arthritis in my knee has not flared up in over a year and I can't remember where I put my Cane Crossing my legs. I think we all said that one and it is amazing the smallest thing could mean so much I no longer get stared at like I am some sort of Circus attraction. -
Things I will not miss...
LessofKat replied to terry1118's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg! This has my laughing and crying at the same time, I never really thought about all the stuff us "fluffy" folks had to go through. So it has got me thinking about all the things I'm not going to miss like... The marks you get in you skin from jeans and when you take off your jeans it hurts and you scratch it until you break the skin!! The fear of breaking chairs because you are so heavy. Having to hoist yourself in and out of a car. Feeling ashamed when I am out to eat and getting all the stares from people and I know they are thinking "tubby should have gotten a salad"!! Turning down social gatherings because you're afraid of being the fat one. Threatening your mother-in-law to take down the fat pics of you from Facebook. Hearing how confident I am for the size I am!! (Really!!!) Telling Lane Bryant to kiss my ass and not have to spend a ton of money just to get a pair of jeans!! (Really excited about this one!!) I'm not going to miss not being able to play with my kids and not planting the flowers they have been begging to do but I'm to fat to do it!! I'm not going to miss the heartburn!! The holes that your thighs rub into your pants. Boring sex with my husband because I am to fat to do more than one position (sorry if tmi). That's all I can think of for now. Thanks for starting this post it has kind of help me put things into perspective and realize how limited I am! -
So I'm 6 weeks preg. And for the past two days I have been very weak and faint. I have hydrated myself, took vitamins, and ate protein rich food but no improvement. To top it off TMI alert....I have been spotting brown and red and I have had some thick substance come out that I've never seen before. The spotting has been going on for over a week.

Gas after protein shakes?
READY4CHANGE2013 replied to Alison1227's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LUCKY YOU!! That protein drink sends me right to the bathroom. It's like a diuretic...sorry TMI!! Yogurt goes down pretty easy but anything dairy sets my tummy on fire so be careful! -
Pre op diet?
sleeveforkayla replied to sleeveforkayla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok a little off topic but I'm wondering if anyone has suffered from constipation with the pre op diet? If so, what did you find best to use? I apologize in advance if this is TMI. -
Had my revision
pumpkin73 replied to pumpkin73's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes, I can take up to 7 strips a day and I have been walking. I finally passed a little wind yesterday (TMI) & it felt wonderful! I think most of my soreness is from the hernia repair. -
How long does port pain last???
ChicagoRose replied to asho_26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happens to me too! It's not really pain though...just uncomfortable or tender. Also happens during sex on occasion...sorry TMI, or if I'm sitting weird for too long.
