  1. Well I think you can add passing the psych eval as an NSV! :-) My eval lasted about 3 hours. 2 1/2 of which I spent filling out the questionnaire. I don't know if it was part of the eval or not, but they didn't provide any desks or tables to write on. So me and the other 2 guys were sitting there, trying to hold the clipboard/pencil in one hand and hold the 40 page questionaire in the other! Talk about a pain. I was pissed they did that to us! == Get my Free eBook - The Top 10 WLS Fears and How to Kick Their Butt! == get it here ---> http://frankensleeve.com
  2. High BP was the reason my cardiologist suggested WLS surgery. I went off medication last month at my surgeon's suggestion and I've not had a problem. Last week at my regular physical it was 110/88. Talk about a NSV!!

    Interesting, what people notice.

I'm not at the "tucking in" stage, but I can only imagine how great it must have been doing that for the first time after surgery. And now, having it commented on... Major NSV. Congrats!
  4. Had my port revision yesterday. Glad it's over is all I can say. But here's my takeaway story for the day. So I'm wearing the horrible hospital gown with the sock thingies on as well and waiting with the BF for my surgeon to come in to see me. Already got alot of comments from the nursing staff about the weight loss and was OK with it knowing it would stop once I went home. So as you likely know, the surgical floor is kept fairly cold and while waiting for the surgeon, I tucked my legs up under myself to keep warm. The surgeon walks in and first thing she says after good morning is 'well...look who's all curled up in the chair there.' Figures she would spot that right away knowing that was an impossible position for me at one time. A NSV is a NSV no matter where it happens...

    NSV

It's my first week back to work this week and I ran into and old coworker (hot one I might add... too bad I'm married) anyway he looks at me and says, "Damn Girl! You look so skinny, what are you doing?". I got the goosebumps, it was the first time someone mentioned my weight loss. It felt SO GOOD! I did a little happy dance inside I just told him I was doing high Protein, low carbs and smaller portion sizes. I didn't lie exactly

    Funniest NSV yet!

OKC, you have a very handsome son! Congrat's on your NSV!

    Funniest NSV yet!

@@Elode - dang if that didn't happen to me today. My son was here, our laundry was mixed up because he doesn't take stuff out of the dryer and when I put on my underwear they felt better, checked the tag to see what brand I wanted to pick up to replace the rapidly uncomfortable lose stuff, and realized "dang it's my stud college student, state champion swimmer's underwear." I'm feeling pretty NSV right now.

    What Is Your Latest NSV?

I'm so happy for you, OP! I had a similar embarrassing experience at Universal studios and have never been back since (I live in Orlando, and it breaks my heart to not be able to go anywhere but plus size-friendly Disney). I'm still too big for the coasters, but not for much longer, so I hope to experience the same NSV soon!

    Loose tummy skin

That's funny, but truthfully, it's commentary.....and inspiration. Hell, if I could, I'd post it as a NSV... I know this is probably TMI, but the look of wonder on my face he saw wasn't based on how good it felt when I was in a certain position...but more my amazement that I could even get my legs and waist bent that way...

    Funniest NSV yet!

It was either let you keep them or her burning them. Congratulations on this funny NSV and your hard work.

    Funniest NSV yet!

@@Elode - that is an excellent NSV!
  13. So last night I took my teenage daughter (14) to the movies. We were in the process of getting ready and she starts freaking out! She says " MOM!!! What the heck?!" I being in shock was like "What , what happened?!" She says "You're wearing my freaking underwear!!" I immediately flipped the tag over and sure enough they were hers! She bought the same ones as me only two sizes smaller. I, being thoroughly amused started doing the booty shaking victory dance. She however was not near as amused as I was. That's ok though because I got a new NSV AND I inherited a new pair of undies!! For some reason she insisted that I keep them! So when I say "funniest" what I really mean is funniest for me. Ha!! Winning!!!
  14. At 12 days post-op I experienced my first NSV today. As my size has yo-yo'ed over the years I have all sizes of clothes in my closet, with shirts from (men's) size 16 1/2 up to size 19. I was very pleased to find that I now fit comfortably into an 18 1/2, and almost a size 18. My NSV was packing up all of my size 19 shirts to give to charity. Not quite yet ready to drop down a pant size but hoping that will come in another week or two. Anyway, the first NSV feels very good!
  15. Hello new me

When did you buy new clothes?

I am 8 weeks out and bought a couple of new things today. We have a outlet mall close to my house, so I shopped the clearance rack. I actually has a NSV today and was able to buy clothes that were not from any plus size stores. I was so excited. $80.00 later, I have 2 new pairs of jeans, 4 new shirts and a couple of pair of underwear. I know these will all be too big in a month, but my husband and I have a long weekend get away next weekend. I wanted to look good since we are seeing friends that we haven't seen in years.

    NSV/ well maybe not

Any change in the right direction is indeed a NSV. Congratulations!!! Keep up the good work!
  17. I am finally in the 30's with my BMI, 39.8, and excited. So not sure if that is or is not an NSV, but I'll take it. I know I post how slow my weight loss is, and still feeling it could be better, but excited BMI is in the 30's. I think when I first started, May 2014 my BMI was 49. I did my 6 month requirement for the insurance, which finished in Nov 2014, but had a work injury on my knee and fractured my wrist, so took a break from the program, then started up again April 2015 and finally had the surgery 8/3. Thanks to everyone for their responses, and I love reading these posts and everyones experiences.

    Is this realistic after rny?

I had a RNY 28 months ago. I lost a lot of weight very quickly. At 6 or 7 months I leveled off. At the end of the Weight Loss phase, I was totally unable to wear any of my clothes. I gave them all away. My wife is a seamstress and it was not worth the effort to tailor them. On the other hand, I am a great shopper. I generally buy clothes at a 70-80% discount and I love to shop. This gave me the opportunity to buy the latest fashions for a completely new wardrobe. It was fun. I could shop at normal department stores again. On the journey down you will need only one or two sets of clothes. I would buy a pair of pants that I could barely fit into (provided I took a deep breath) then a week later it would fit like a glove. It was a great incentive (a NSV - non scale victory).

    Post-op worries

@@dre1375 - try on some new "old" clothes and see how they fit! that's the best NSV ever!
  20. I can still distinctly remember having that fear of not fitting in a desk at school going back as far as grade school. This is indeed a monumental NSV! Congrats!
  21. You've been thru major surgery on top of coming to grips with a complete lifestyle change and a shift in hormones. Cut yourself some slack...YES you're going to be emotional!!! The good news is you're going to see some major positive changes very soon and that should make the entire emotional roller coaster much easier to ride. At least for me, once I was seeing some NSV's happen in my life, it made the grieving process much easier. Good Luck. You got this!!!
  22. My "cookie" substitute was Protein balls that taste like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I took peanut butter and chocolate protein powder and mixed it up until real smooth. I rolled it into balls the size of walnuts. One, sometimes two was more than enough to take off the edge of hunger. Just don't forget that peanut butter has calories and you wouldn't want to go crazy with this. My liquid diet included bone broth, which was basically homemade vegetable soup with meat on the bone, and vegetables. Boyfriend ate the veggies and meat. I drank the broth. My preferred brand for shake mix was Syntrax Nectars. My favorite was the grapefruit because when I mixed up with Crystal Lite Lemonade it tasted like Fresca soda. They have a lot of flavors. I waaaaay overbought and took about 18 months to use it up. Right now I have on hand Syntrax Matrix Vanilla, Syntrax Matrix Chocolate Mint (tastes like a Peppermint Patty) and Core Athlete pumpkin Spice......OMG it's actually good! I used the unflavored in soups. My Vitamin is a generic brand from Walgreens, labeled for women over 50. My labs are fine. My goal outfit is just a few pounds from fitting. I bought white skinny jeans and a Vera Wang silk blouse. I have never in my life bought clothes of any quality. Vera was my first. I also ditched the white granny panties and Walmart $6 bras for good quality girly things that match. I felt a difference in my weight at 30 pounds down, and that is when my primary noticed a difference in my face and skin tone. People around me noticed a difference around 50 pounds down. At 65 pounds down I had an appointment with my pain specialist whom I had not seen since pre-op. He did not recognize me and when he and his nurses were doing their pre-procedure "time out", he said "Are your SURE we have the right patient on the table." I cracked up. Total NSV!
  23. It is definitely an awesome movie! We are all going to be awesome starring in our own movie. Yes sometimes it is going to be scary but we will be amazed as our bodies change, as we conquer new NSV's. We've all bought a ticket and we are standing on the platform ready to board. I like this thought. By thinking of it this way for the first time I am starting to feel some excitement. Maybe I did shed some of that stress yesterday after all.
