    5 days post op

No pain at all. I have some discomfort if I do to much. But I have noticed, if I eat the amount of protein my doctor has told me to get to. The pain is less. I only do anything for 10-15 at a time.

A little over 2 weeks till surgery (6/16). Starting my preop diet Thursday. My program includes no caffeine :(, Sugar, Dairy, or carbs with the final two days being liquid only. As it gets closer the more anxious I get, I have been on a weight loss journey for 10 years and I'm really hoping this will finally be it.
  4. my loss eventually stopped on its own. Don't forget that most of us have a 10-20 lb rebound from our lowest weight, so I wouldn't panic too much if you go a few lbs below goal.

That does sound wonderful will have to try the "frosted lemonade". Today I am going to meal prep for the week so that during the week it's grab and get out the kitchen. Most people slip up but you went 10 days without cheating ..that's great and you are almost to surgery. I have my preop stuff on June 3.. not sure why they are doing it so far out but the sooner everything gets locked down the happier I will be.
  6. Well its Sunday and I have just one mote fay before surgery Tomorrow will be hard. I am going with my niece and her husband and daughter to a friends house for a cookout. They get to eat hamburgers and hot dogs and baked beans, while I will be sipping my clear broth and drinking water and apple juice. Juice to keep my sugar up. Have to be up btight and early Tuesday foray surgery. Have to be at the hospital by 8:00 am.for surgery at 10:00 am . My journey has been a real tough one. I started out at 410 lbs and am down to 367 lbs with just dieting. I haven't thought of a goal weight yet Any weight loss is a victory to me.After all my health issues, I have to do better and get healthier. I need to focus on just getting through this surgery and then I can begin the real weight loss journey. GOOD LUCK TO ALL( ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH SURGERY'S COMING UP) THANKS FOR ALL THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS. Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app

It does get easier! I am on Day 10 of my 2-week pre op diet, and I had my first slip up tonight. I couldn’t stop thinking about all the food I couldn’t have, and I came so close to ordering a turkey sub, but then I settled on a frozen breakfast burrito in my freezer. I feel super guilty, but I’ve read stories from other people who have cheated so much worse and more frequently, so I think I’ll be okay. Find yourself a yummy drink mix to make water more appealing, and try mixing crystal light and ice with a vanilla protein shake in the blender - tastes a lot like a frosted lemonade!

    Scared .........

Thank you everyone for all the emotional support.. I just miss both of my parents. The both passed away from heart failure and had an issue with obesity. I just don't want to end up the same way. In 2019 I was diagnosed with VT in one month and the next month had Multiple Bilateral Pulmonary Embolisms. I was only 49. Plus had Lyme disease. So all these major health issues just really frightened me. Not to mention I was a caregiver for my sister who had PPMS. She passed away last year. So I basically had been a caregiver for over 30 years of my life and had let my health issues go by the waistside. My family told me to focus on my health now so that I can ne around longer. Once again Thank You to All for your support and kind words. I am also from the south., so that Scarlett O Hara reference is a good one Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. I’m sorry you read my post in a way that offended you @Sunshine Princess . That wasn’t my intention at all. It was simply sharing an interesting fact I’d recently stumbled across & that it’s an interesting example of the power of advertising. And, regardless of the fact 10 000 steps started as a marketing plan, I think it’s a good motivator. Again, as I said in my post, congratulations on your achievement.

    Food Before and After Photos

I was CRAVING Buffalo chicken and had these little plant based nuggets on hand. I air fried the potato, nuggets, added Buffalo sauce, some herb Ranch, and thinly sliced celery. My restriction has been intense lately so I'm trying to just do 1 meal a day I really want to eat and then shakes for the rest of the day , I notice I feel pretty satisfied that way. This was really delicious and went down smooth. About 10 grams of protein in the nuggets, I also mixed nutritional yeast in the Ranch which has about 4 grams of protein. Blah...my first stall...

OMG day 10 of my stall and I think I'm losing my mind LOL These things are horrible!!!
  14. DaisyAndSunshine

    Is this a real stall?

Probably could be a stall. My last stall was when my BMI was about 33ish (last month, my month 5). Lasted 3 weeks or so until scale started moving yet again this month, month 6. Since you're month 10, I am sure weight loss slows down too closer to a year of surgery. Like the above poster suggested, try play around with calories and exercises and see if it makes a difference. It can get frustrating when you still haven't come close to the goal but hang in there and hope scale starts cranking again.
  15. Hi, I need some help/advice. I’m 10 days post-op after RNY. Yesterday I was feeling queasy all day, but today I woke up feeling a lot worse. Nausea, burning pain in my lower abdomen and a raging headache. I’ve taken tylenol, gas x, zofran and prilosec but nothing seems to be touching it. Sleep is my only relief. Before surgery I would take alka seltzer for stomach pain, but I know that is a non-option. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

    Advice Needed!

How tall are you? If you are close to a normal BMI the weight loss does slow down considerably and it eventually stops. I am 5’8” Mine stopped at 169 and after staying there for several months I gained 10 back over the next few. I have been at 179 ever since. I wanted to get much lower but had to accept that my body is happy here. I could probably lose a bit if I incorporated more exercise Though. You may just need to be a bit more patient, but you also may need to add more movement to lose more.
  17. Hi All, I’m 10 months post op from gastric sleeve and have been at a stall for about a month. I’m at 173 from 250. I eat about 1,200 Cals a day and have about 60-80 ounces of water per day. How can I speed up my weight loss? What has worked for you? Thanks! at a stall for about a month. I’m at 173 from 250. I eat about 1,200 Cals a day and have about 60-80 ounces of water per day. 19. Did you know 10 000 was a marketing ploy? Yep the power of advertising. I was fascinated when I read a Japanese company developed a step counter around the time of the Tokyo Olympics in the 60s. The name of the step counter literally meant 10 000 steps & a marketing campaign was born. Scientific evidence has shown that 7000 steps provides as much benefit as 10 000. Regardless, I guess it’s still a good motivator. Congrats on hitting your target. https://www.inverse.com/mind-body/where-did-10000-steps-come-from
  20. I don't get dumping syndrome as such, but if I have too much sugar I know within about 10 to 20 minutes, light nausea and something like the shakes but not the shakes. I say light nausea but its not the typical nausea...not sure how to describe it.
  21. Hi everyone! I am currently 10 days post op and am having a lot of issues with burping... ALL DAY LONG. And the burps smell. I am back at work and it is very embarrassing. Any one else have this problem? I am drinking small sips, eating slow, but even when I am not eating or drinking I am belching.

    First fast food since surgery

I'm obsessed with the egg white and roasted red pepper bites from Starbucks as my fast food fix. My husband is in love with the Spinach and Feta wrap they have there. I really wish other fast food places would get on board with making a meal with eggs as the protein vs. chicken or beef. Last night, I went to a Mexican joint with my husband and I am happy to report that the scale still went down this morning. I only ate a total of about 10 chips, some guac, salsa, and 3 nachos (marinated chicken with cheese on top of 3 tortilla chips). I was satisfied and not overstuffed. I'm really enjoying this process! And as busy people, fast food is sometimes inevitable - it's nice that there ARE options!

    Literally crying right now

Another thing I noticed and not just you lots of people are saying oh it took me an hour to eat my meal, my dietician and surgeon and lots of other literature say stop eaten after 20 minutes and throw what you haven't eat in that time away or put it in the fridge for your next meal. The longer you take to eat something the more calories you are getting in. Another thing is you are not meant to eat until the point you feel restriction, it took a long time for me to feel restriction because I was eating the recommended amounts now at almost a year out yes I can eat alot before restriction kicks in and with "slidder" foods I get no restriction so don't rely on restriction to limit your food intake because it won't work long term. The idea of the sleeve is to stop you feeling really hungry and to feel not hungry sooner. Slow your eating down, stop after 20 minutes, eat the recommended foods and portion sizes, separate drinking and eating, make sure you keep hydrated and you will succeed. "I didn't have to take my time. I ate normally because I actually forgot to go slow. And being that I'm only 19 days out, I didn't think I would be able to eat this much this soon with absolutely no issues at all." Just because you can does mean you should,
  25. I had a sleeve done about 10 years ago when I was 40. I went from about 280 to 160 and have put the weight back on. I have seen two surgeons in my area in the last couple of months. One does DS and says I am kinda halfway through a DS procedure. The other surgeon does not do DS so she is recommending bypass. If I really want, she can refer me to a surgeon in the hospital system who does DS but that is 3 hours away. I've had some friends use the DS surgeon and recommend her but her office staff is a hot mess. An overall lack of organization and I send info to the person I am told to but then someone else calls and says I wasn't supposed to send to that person. The by pass surgeon is in my hospital system and therefore has access to all my doctor's records since nearly every one of my doctors is in that hospital system. By pass doctor said that DS wasn't fully "approved" (my word not hers) and is still considered experimental but she wants to learn how to do it and expects it will be much more common in the near future. My husband is asking me what will I do differently after this surgery that I didn't do before. Great question. I am moving through all the insurance required hoops for both doctors at this point but still not sure I want to do either. Anyone have any words of wisdom? Not sure how to proceed. Thanks so much!
