Surgery for me was July 31st. Also down 16 lbs. I feel good. Walking each night after dinner. When I first got home from the hospital I could do 1/4 mile in 30 min. Woohoo tonight 3 miles in 45 min. I am so happy I had surgery! I know the 3 week stall should be coming up. I am grateful for others who have gone before me and posted of things to come so discouragement does not set in.
  2. Cherrybomb, You posted that you wouldnt put your pre-op weight out there for anyone to see. I will. I weight 352 at my absolute highest and I'm knocking on 100 pounds lost. I didn't really drop sizes for a long time. I was in my 3 week stall when I lost my first size, and then it seemed to take months before I lost another size. A few days ago I went to the store to buy workout clothes because mine were embarassingly large, so large in fact that I inadvertently flashed an old man my boobs at the gym the other day! I figured I needed an 18, but bought 16s because they were stretchy workout clothes and I don't want to flash anyone again. The 16s not only fit, they fit well!!! I am going to buy jeans this weekend and I know I'll be trying on everything in sight, just to get a better idea of what fits. The sizes will drop soon and you'll be amazed at how fast it happens. Lil Miss Diva told me that months ago and I thought she was nuts, but now I know that it happens and it happens so fast our brains cannot keep up. I still see the bigger me in the mirror, but that's not the gal that shows up in pictures these days. I remember thinking "That girl has a waist" when I was looking at my own picture about a month ago. Well, THIS girl has a waist and I have to keep reminding myself of that!!

    Energy Surge 1 week Post-Op?

I had the same experience and at about the same time. I think it only lasted for about a week though so enjoy it while you can. Then I hit the 3 week stall and everything slowed down for about 3 weeks. After that my energy started going up again and stayed above my pre surgery level ever since. I hope your energy levels stay high and don't worry too much about the exercise. Usually the more I exercised the more energy I had and it didn't affect hunger at all. Good luck and take care!

    My journey so far!

I am in the dreaded 3 week stall. My surgery was 6/24 and I lost 20lbs the first two weeks....now 9 days at the same. I'm getting my water and protein. As frustrating as it is....everyone says it's our body adjusting. Maybe it'll end soon for both of us and the weight drop significantly.

    January 2021 anyone?

I bet your happy that those weeks are past you. That would have been so scary while recovering. I would agree thats burned in your memory! Let me know how your first day back to work goes. I just had my pulled ab muscle from over exerting myself. Sore muscles that a heating pad and ice pack are helping with. Did you hit that "3 week" stall? I havent lost any weight for 6 days. I know its normal... i just wonder how long it will last for me.
  6. Idk if I'm in a stall or doing something wrong but I'm getting frustrated! Is there another time that is known for stalls? I'm at 4.5 months

    3 weeks post op

I stalled for a few weeks!! It was frustrating. But it passes. Just keep doing what u are supposed to do. This week 5 pounds just disappeared but in my 3 week stall I lost like 1-2. Lol it's your body adjusting, all normal.
  8. The scale is finally moving!!! 250.6 this morning! Hopefully the 3 week stall is over an I can get close to my thanksgiving goal of 240????
  9. It's called the 3 week stall. It's famous. Do a search for stalls or better yet visit the sub forum "Don't sweat the Stall Stuff". There are so many posts about them from newbies that Alex created a whole forum just for you.
  10. I too thought the weight would come off faster but I am more than pleased with what I have accomplished so far. I know I have quite a ways to go but so far so good One thing you need to consider too is that even when you are not dropping pounds you will still be dropping inches. During my "3 week stall" I didn't lose a pound but still lost inches so I did not give up hope. I just started at the gym a couple of weeks ago and see that working out really does make a difference in how I feel and the pounds that I lose per week. One thing to remember is every body is different so don't compare yourself to others just be proud of what you have been able to accomplish

    June 2018 losers bench

This 3 week stall is no joke it’s been over 2 weeks for me now 😓 Ugh! 2 weeks? I'm so sorry! I have literally weighed the exact same since Saturday. Not an ounce more or an ounce less. So strange to me.

    Weight loss halted

It's called the 3 week stall. In fact, it's famous. Use the search function on here or visit the stall forum. You will see that EVERYONE goes through this and the answers to your questions have already been posted dozens of times. But in the end, the best thing to do is stick to your diet plan and STAY OFF THE SCALE!!!!
  13. I am 8 days post op and was on my way down...13 lbs post op but then yesterday...nothing, today....nothing. I know it's not a great idea to weigh myself daily but I am so excited. I have just started full liquids and am struggling to get calories and protein. Usually around 40-50 grams of protein and around 400 calories a day. I have read MANY posts about the 3 week stall but 1 week??!!! Am I doing something wrong already???

    Frustrated as hell!

I would say do a search on the 3 week stall, but you will be reading all night. Just read the link in my sig. You have hit the inevitable stall that most people hit in their first month. Don't fret and don't change anything. Certainly do not cut out your protein shakes. They do not make you fat. Keep drinking and walking and take 2 weeks off from weighing yourself. Start measuring yourself instead. Soon the weight will be falling off.

    The Math Doesn't Add Up

Oh, I hated my 3 week stall. For a week I stayed at the same weight but I was eating right, drinking lots of fluids, exercising... I know I'll have another one but I'm prepared this time. I do avoid all carbs so anything that will be burned is fat.

    The Math Doesn't Add Up

I was in the 3 week stall for 2 weeks! Not fun - or logical. Just now getting out of it fully. Just lost 4 lbs this week. When I was completely stalled I actually gained 4 lbs. . Drs office said I was retaining lots of water. It does get better. Don't get discouraged. We didn't put the weight on in a day and it doesn't come off in a day. What I did was focus on getting strong. I increased how far I walked and kept thinking about how strong I was getting instead of the "failure" of a non-moving scale. You are likely losing inches and not even realizing it.
  17. Three weeks post op, I went on my first business trip. It was a big wine and dine event, and then I stayed the weekend over, laid by the pool. I drank each day, beer, wine and/or Mai Tais. But I logged everything, and averaged over those 7 days, 700 calories a day. I came back and in the week since I had last weighed myself I gained more than 2 lbs. Now, it could have been the 3 week stall, it could have just been restaurant food vs. the very basic food I was eating at home. It could have been the transition to "real" food. It could have been 700 calories vs, 400 calories I was consuming prior. But it could also have been the alcohol (and mixers). Those were purely unnecessary calories I was consuming. Honestly, I was pissed at myself. After that point I have had the very occasional glass of wine, but I am determines that I will not be consuming liquid calories going forward. I want this weight loss too badly to sabotage it. This has been an awkward and challenging decision. I do a lot of entertaining in my job. My industry and my company have a big drinking culture. I also miss a nice glass of wine with a good meal. But if I'm willing to undergo surgery to remove most of my stomach, I'm willing to make other sacrifices to get this weight off.

    December sleevers

Sleeved 12/16. Seems like several of us went through a long stall! Mine lasted a little over 3 weeks. Thankfully I'm back to losing again, because I was starting to get discouraged. Dropped 3 lbs in 2 days Had an appointment on Friday and they said they expect me to lose at least 15 lbs if not more by May. Really hoping I don't have another 3 week stall between then!!
  19. What sort of things are you eating? What would make you think you stretched it? Have you heard of the 3 week stall? You may be in the middle of that. How much do you have to lose?
  20. I think I've hit another stall. I'm still losing but only about a pound a week. I have been trying to get over 1200 calories a day and its hard. I'm eating high calorie foods and not gaining but not losing as much. I passed the 3 week stall. Now I guess I'm in a new stall. Any tips ? I'm so close to my goal.

    Weight stalled?

Billie 70. yes it is called the 3 week stall :} it is very common so we named it such. Just keep following your eating protocol. Your weight will move. Your body is adjusting to the surgery and low calorie intake ..Once your dr. releases you to exercise..my suggestion is to start..it will def help you with weight loss. Just keep on doing what u are doing. and btw the post above ..just ignore it. We don't need sarcasm on this web site. especially when we are helping newbies. Let us know if you have further questions.

    Any one from Texas?

As far as feeling normal again it took me just a bit over a month to feel normal. And I never walked hunched over after my surgery so I'm not sure about that one. I concur. It's been 4 weeks from my surgery today. I just went back to work. It really took 2.4-3 weeks before I felt semi-normal. I was pretty shocked and disappointed initially bc it seems that many people have an easy recovery. I normally bounce back quickly but this was not the case with the sleeve. I never regret doing it, and I was very prepared for what could happen, I just always thought what could happen would not happen to me. Again, I had no major leaks but I did pull an internal stitch (worst pain I've ever had), had hibernation syndrome, and hit the annoying "3 week stall" in the middle of week 2 for a out 10 days. Stay positive. It will get so much better and easier. Just listen to what your body needs because your body will speak to you in a language only you can understand. Hope all is well!
  24. It's the 2-3 week stall it will pass just keep eating correctly
  25. At just under 3 weeks post op I gained weight then stalled for a week and a half. I wanted to scream. I felt like I was doing something wrong. After reading about this infamous "3 week stall" on here, then double checking that I was getting in all of my Protein, Water, & Vitamins, and making sure I was getting some exercise daily, I just let it go. I started weighing in only once a week and also started doing my measurements once a week. It sucked but apparently it really is just part of the process. If you know you are doing things the way you should be, trust that your body is behaving the way it should. I know that's WAY easier said then done but hopefully if enough people tell you they have been there, done that and it's normal you'll be able to get through it a little easier. It really does sound like you're doing great, keep it up!
