    Dear 3 week stall..

I think I've reached the other end of my 3 week stall, but my weight loss definitely has slowed down. It makes me want to strangle the people who say it's all "calories in - calories out". Well, if that were the case I'd have lost A LOT more weight by eating only 600-800 calories a day.

    Dear 3 week stall..

Me too. I hate the 3 week stall. $#@!%^&$$#
  3. ... Dear stall.. you can't see it but I am giving you the finger. Indeed, I am. Sigh!
  4. For 2 weeks pre and 4 weeks post op, my dr requires 3 protien drinks / 2 yogurts a day. I think he does this because he sells us the pricey drinks. At 4 weeks post op, we are to switch to 2 drinks and one mushy meal until we reach our goal. Then 1 drink daily for maintenance. I am 16 days post op. I stopped losing weight on day 11. I am very disappointed. They say a 3 week stall is normal but after 11 days and under 500 calories?
  5. When I had my one week follow-up with my doctor, I only lost 3 lbs. Don't worry; your weight will come off in time. Don't try to compare yourself to other people; each person body will react to the surgery a different way. Right now, I am having a 3 week stall.

    Shaking up stalls

Going off of my plan definitely helped me break a 3 week stall. I ate more and more carbs. It's all about mixing things up and keeping your body guessing so it doesn't reach homeostasis and has to constantly readjust. When I was in Weight Watchers I was taught this...there it is called the Wendy Plan.
  7. OMG i am so glad you posted that i am on a 21 day stall and thought this must be it i cannot believe i am only looseing 25 lbs, its comming off slow, i know i had read a million times of the 3 week stall, i know i am in it but my god its long enough............

Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?

I'm changing my goal weight from 180 to 185, so my goal will be 15 lbs lost. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. My weight loss has slowed (still lingering from that dreaded 3 week stall), but I of course will be thrilled to reach 180 lbs . I haven't been in the 180's in 4 years, and I'd be sooo happy regardless. So, here's my modified Halloween goal... SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Kala.................200.2.............196.8...........185.............11.8

Halloween (Oct. 31) - What will you Weigh?

Hi all, I lost .8 lbs. this week. It's the second time since surgery that I have had such a small loss in a week. First time was the notorious 3 week stall. I lost .5 that week I think. Last week I lost a lot (3.5), so maybe this week is just evening that out a bit. Still on track for my Halloween goal and still have lost every week since the surgery. I have 3.8 lbs. to go till I can join the 30 lbs. or less to lose group. I'm really looking forward to that! I did my new exercise class on Monday and Wednesday this week. Next week we will be on vacation so eating will be a bit of a challenge. My plan is to have some vanilla Protein Powder in my Soy Latte for Breakfast (normally I have greek yogurt for breakfast), string cheese and Jerky or beef sticks for lunch, dense Protein at dinner and an unjury chicken protein at night. That will get me to 60 grams of protein a day and still under 800 calories. I will have a few more calories that usual at lunch and dinner because I won't have the same low cal options I have at home. This is my first vacation post-sleeve that doesn't involve going somewhere with a fridge. It will be good practice for my trip to Japan later this year. Halloween Goal: SW-177.............CW-173.1...............Halloween Goal-159 Sept 2: 175 Sept. 9: 173.1 Sept 16: 169.6 Sept 23: 168.8 Sept 30: Oct 7: Oct 14: Oct 21: Oct 28: Halloween:

August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!

I was sleeved August 10th and I have lost 30 lbs to date. I lost 15 the first week and 10 the second week. I gained 5 back the 3rd week and I think finally getting over the 3 week stall. I haven't had any problems with eating. I can eat anything. I have tried chicken, fish, turkey burgers, etc. I make sure I chew very well. I do not feel like I am losing very quickly. I do 30 minutes on the eliptical in the morning and walk in the evening. I haven't been recordng my food consistantly however plan to start today as I think I may not be calculating my carb intake correctly. I wanted to make a suggestion to the folks that indicate they are having trouble getting your Protein in. I use a Ninjia to mix my shakes and use a variety of of unjury protein flavors. In the morning I use the unflavored or vanillia protein in 50% less sugar OJ. (I also add Fiber which is orange flaavored). I blend the powders and liquid. Once mixed well I add ice about a cup. It makes it the consistency of a milk shake or smoothie. In the evening I have another Protein Shake (like dessert) I use the Unjury chocolate splendor and unsweetened almond milk. I mix the same as above and add the ice. I hope this helps.
  12. I was sleeved on Aug. 8th. I am down 19 lbs since surgery. I am in a 3 week stall right now. I hope things change soon. So far, I have been able to eat everything that I have tried. I still get hungry but not as often as I use to. I am able to drink and I don’t have to sip, sip, sip. I am on soft foods. I spend most of my day eating, drinking, or taking vitiams…but I am still having a hard time getting in my Protein. I hate Protein shakes. I didn’t have a problem pre-surgery…but now I can’t take them. They all make me feel sick. I walk 30 mins a day and I just started playing and working out using my Xbox 360. I feel so much better when I exercise, but it’s still hard for me to get started. I still have some pain on my left side, but it is getting better every day. I like to wear things that support my stomach – such as spanx. I am just starting to feel like my old self again. I don’t feel smaller, but my family tells me that I look younger and they can see it in my face. I am already starting to see a difference in my health, my high blood pressure meds have been reduced and I think I will be off all of my pills soon. I love my sleeve and I will be so happy when my stall is over. I am 6 pounds away from onederland. I didn’t know that August sleevers had a weekly check in thread, I am going to have to check that out.
  13. Almost 8 months out and no regrets at all. It gets me upset when newbies, particularly those 3 months and less, get on the boards discouraging others. Anyone who reads this board and research the surgery know that there are some set backs. There is the 3 week stall (that can last more than a month), there's the throwing up, there's the mourning of food, and slow losers (like myself) BUT all in all those of us 6 months or more out (even some with SERIOUS complications) wouldn't go back to how we were. I always feel that someone who is still researching the Sleeve verus other WL options will turn away because they read a rant of regret from someone 1 month out. They miss the chance to change thier lives based on an "in the moment" and emotional writin. Then when such said ranter is 6 months out and close to 100 pounds lost (Praising God for this tool) the researching newbie will still be unhappy and unhealthy. I'm sorry for my soapbox. I know these boards are a place to come and vent, read, learn, and testify. I myself have posted some post that I now look at and laugh about. And even in my slow losing phrase, I come a write BUT I am always so careful to search on previous topics and answers before I unleash my sleeve wrath because its all here on the boards- rarely nothing new under the Web sun. ut again- back to your question- I DON'T REGRET ONE MINUTE OF THE SLEEVE.
  14. OMG i am in the same boat as all of you i have been at a stand still for a week, and i am 3 weeks out myself, but its ok because i have read on here 100 times we are at the 3 week stall, and as far as eatting , i know i need to slow down, if i take 1 more bite it comes right back up, i threw up maybe 5 days in a row, not for eatting to much , i was eatting to fast, i need to SLOW down............................
  15. Sunny, I am sorry you are so frustrated! Please don't give up! Your body and mind have been thru an awful lot in the last few weeks! You are still in the healing process. And since you sound like me and have tried every diet know to mankind you have probably rendered yourself diet resistant. Let your body adjust to it's new tummy and restricted calorie intake. Follow your surgeons diet plan and you will lose the weight. You are probably in the middle of your 3 week stall so the number for weight loss was not exactly as low as you thought it would be. This will take time! But slow and steady wins the race. This time we do not have to worry about being dragged back to the high side of the scale. Keep your Fluid levels up too. I know this is hard...it's hard for me too but we can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs!

    Sept 17th check in

Hey friends! I weighed in at 241.3 this morning, only one pound down from last week. Looks like I am in the middle of the 3 week stall! I also had extensive sinus surgery this past Wed, which was exactly 3 weeks since my sleeve surgery, so I think I am still holding on to some fluids from that. Hopefully the scale will start moving soon! Have a great week All Stars!
  17. When you say you have a 3 week stall does that also include the 2 weeks pre-op? I am at a stall and I am 1 1/2 week post op but 3 1/2 week including pre-op.

    My roommate hid my scale

Every day I get on the scales I want to smack the snot out of one of these diet experts you STILL see saying "calories in calories out". I'm a very slow loser. Very slow. I am pretty much maxed out at about 750-850 calories a day. Like you, I was eating much more, my average in the months prior to surgery when I was "dieting" was still 1850 per day. And I was losing at EXACTLY the same pace as I have post sleeve. If you do the simple math, it does not make any sense. And yet you still hear the experts telling people it's as simple as calories in and calories out. Having just gone through another 3 week stall, I can assure you it isn't. I just hang onto the fact that I don't think I will ever gain it all back this time. Losing will be slow for me, but I think that with the restriction I will have some time to get back to a sane mind before I really gain too much down the road. That's always been my pattern before. I'm basically a healthy eater who would have 4 really bad days in a month. Those bad days are now controlled and they pass now the same as they did before, just with very little damage done. I'm just saying this to encourage anyone else in a stall or losing slowly. It all adds up! And we will get there too. And regarding the scales, go buy another set and hide it from the roommate.

    September 10th check in/weigh in

Hi Everyone! I was 233 at the time of my surgery and I am currently 215 for a loss post surgery of 18 lbs. I have not lost any weight since August 29 and it is so frustrating! I am tracking my intake at livestrong.com so I guess I am at the 3 week stall which is now on its second week... I am feeling pretty well and trying to walk as much as possible. I'll be glad to add in some weights/strength training when the time comes. Have a great week everyone! K
  20. My doctor told me I shouldn't weigh myself until a month after surgery. I didn't listen of course & when I got home from the hospital, I was up almost 10 pounds! That took a week to go away (it was Water weight from surgery) & then during the 3rd week, I didn't lose a pound (very common. If you search 3 week stall, you'll find a ton of posts about this.) Let me just encourage you to not focus overly much on how much you lose this first month. It is not an indicator of how things are going to go for you. Plus, even if you only lose 10 pounds a month, in a year you will have lost 100 pounds! Just focus on eating how you are supposed to & letting your body heal. The weightloss will come! Krista
  21. First- breathe!!! Everything is okay. Your body has just been through major surgery and it's holding on to everything while you heal. They pump you full of liquid during surgery too, so you may or may not have shed that yet. Do a search on the 3 week stall. You'll get more info from that. You probably just hit it early. Please don't fret. All will be good : )
  22. i keep hearing about the 3 week stall. i am at 3 weeks now and i noticed that the weight isnt coming off. so i guess my question is how long does this first stall normally last?

Tired of this thing called 'THE STALL'

Hey Ya'll So yesterday I weighed myself and lost the 5 lbs that I gained, but I still consider myself still in a stall because I'm right back to where I was when I started stalling :-(. It will be 4 weeks on Monday and I'm a little worried because I have read about 3 week stalls not 4 weeks. I'm not upset like I was before but I will say that I'm a little hopeful as well.
  24. I hate that 3 week stall. I had my surgery on Aug. 2nd. Third week I went into a 9 day stall. Thought it would never end. But on the 10th day I started dropping again. I can also eat almost anything I want. Just don't want but a few spoonfuls, so am doing great. Still hard to get protein in just because I don't like the shakes and they fill me up so fast it takes so long to try to get them in. I try to eat a few beans, or something with protein to make up for it. Glad everyone is doing great.
  25. It seems like (although i have only been here a few months) that there is a lot of early stalls. Like before the typical "3 week stall" So any opinions on why we are not losing weight initially? I mean if we are tracking everything, eating right and exercising and all looks good why are some of us having weeks of no weight loss. Worse off some of us have stopped so early on we feel like we are waiting for the surgery weight loss to start. I know I had surgery August 2nd and lost a total of 13 pounds the first week. then nothing since the 9th of august. I feel like ...ok so when will the weight loss start. I have lost 13 pounds in a month..many times over...i eat high protein, low carb, tons of water and exercise..my nut says..keep on going..yet...we wait for it to start again..or start at all. I know it's frustrating but anyone see this over time..periods when people just don't loose weight initially at all, then long stalls then ...what? does it eventually kick in? go fast? drop slowly...? any opinions on this?
