Hi there, Crissy!
I am getting mine done at NorthWest Weight Loss Surgery Center in Everett. All they do for weight loss is Lap Band. Hearing that you are going to Swedish for yours makes me wonder if I have made a mistake. Just because Swedish is such a wonderful hospital. NWWLS has been wonderful. They have support meetings twice a month and open appointments for counseling so that part is nice.
I read about your infection... best of luck with that! Hope you are making a quick recovery and getting on top of it. I am on my post op diet. Three 110 calorie protein shakes and one 400 calorie meal a day. It is crazy. However, important because it shrinks the liver to make the surgery easier.
Thursday is my surgery. Should take four hours and then I can go home.
I will let you know how things were for me.
I am more nervous than I thought I would be. About the journey after the surgery and not the surgery itself.
Cheers,
Tanya

Hey Karlzmom and Jalivia! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys, but today is actually the best day I have felt all week. So okay, the surgery was Monday and of course that was hell and Tuesday wasnt great either. But I have actually been doing okay, no vomiting at all, just soreness around the bellybutton area. I have stuck to the mushy diet, I've tried all kinds of things, scrambled eggs, refried beans, peanut butter, cream of wheat, and protein shakes of course. I have even eaten some Wheatables. We took the kids out for ice cream and I had strawberry sorbet but I wanted a turtle sundae! How you feeling Karlzmom?

I'm doing pretty good can't complain much!! I just wish all reports were done & submitted to my dr.s office so they can submit it to my insurance already!! The wait is going to drive me insane gurl!! Wowwwwwwwww!!1 Way to go on the 10 lbs!! Your weight loss will pick up again walking is good you will be amazed by how fast 20 mins go by. If you have a Wii try the fitness games they are really good from what I read & friends that I know have it has helped them lose quite a bit of weight all the while, while having fun. Puree food is not really that bad if you like progresso soups try them their not bad when you puree them in a blender. You can also add an unflavored protein to it also to make sure you get enough protein in.....

Hi Wendy
Hope you are feeling better.I hear walking helps.I walked all night the night of the surgery.I'm lucky the gas didn't last long & I'm feeling good. Not so sure if I'm enjoying the band yet. I go for my first fill on 4/10.Already saw the Dr. for follow up on Mon.I lost 19 pounds since the pre-op but have gained 1 1/2 since starting the mushies. I hear that's pretty common. Your body was being starved, now that you are giving it a few hundred calories more, it's holding on tight. I'm eating pretty much what you are. I'm trying to get in a protein shake for the protein (not because I love it, which I don't) I also get soup once in a while. Other than that, I'm feeling pretty good. I'm trying to go to the gym every other day. I have a torn meniscus in my knee. I'm dealing with the knee with PT. Hopefully I can avoid surgery on the knee. What are you doing about Easter?

Thanks for the nice note you made my day I love my black lab, I will look for your pics. When did you get your band? I have been at this for 9 months now and have lost soooo much. I eat Food. Not Too much and mostly Plants with protein first. I was too tight and I had to have some removed. I am still extremely tight but I am working with my band. I only have 3 more pounds to lose to be a member of the 100 pound club. Have a great day. Best wishes imaluckydog Kathy

Go to wal mart and buy some 1cup ziplock bowls. Put everything you eat in those, whatever it is. Try to stick to that size.
When you to the reg phase of food, do 4 oz of meat (always eat your protein 1st) then a 1/2 cup of whatever else. Green veggies is your best choice.

Thanks... I was just reading over some of the websites for the protein drinks... I think that I am going to try the unjury samples to get an idea if I like them or should I try another brand.. do you have any recommendations?

Awe... Chloe is so adorable! Things are wonderful here. I was down 25 lbs but gained back 1 lb when I started soft food... it really hurt my feelings... but whatever. I will definately let you know how the fill goes! I'm a bit anxious about it also. I just found this fantastic protein shake for my late nights at work. It is 25 grams of protein, no carbs, no fat, no sugar and only 110 calories. It's by jayrobb and is whey protein. I didn't care for the strawberry but the chocolate is a dream!! I just ordered a single serving pina colada and tropical dreamscicle online today and can't wait to try them. They keep me full for a good bit of time. They're nice when you don't have enough breaks at work or time to cover all of your meals! I am so glad to hear you're doing great! Piper is doing wonderful, adjusting well. Well have to get back to work but it's great to catch up... I'll talk to you again soon!

Hey!! It will probably be another week or so before you feel "right". I felt the sensation of fullness quickly for the first couple of weeks. Now, however, I feel absolutely NO restriction. At this point, it's pure self control. I'm away at a conference this week, so things have gotten quite difficult. I'm just trying to stick to eating protein first. I did have an apple martini though. Yummy. That's so wrong! I've been released to a regular diet now. I'm finding that there in nothing on my typical menu that is intolerable. My doc says this may change after my fill which is scheduled for June 16th. I don't think you're doing anything wrong. My understanding is that this is the roughest period because you aren't filled. Keep up the good work and stay motivated. This time next year girl...you'll be lethal. That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it! :-)

Hi There RTBT, I am thetig, Cheryl, you had asked me about restriction with my band. I could feel the restriction with both my first and second adjustments or fills but for only a week or so. I have been very careful to stay with the protein only eating carbs on limited occasions, but I do love carbs. If you have gained weight I would suggest that you go back on your liquid diet for a couple of days and get the kick start that you might be needing. Also please read as many blogs as you can especially Julie.ann.......it takes a while to get the band to really work as far as fills go. I have read that it can be up to as many as 4 or 5 before you have reached your "Sweet Spot" my Doc says the same thing to me. I know this was the best decision I could have ever made and it is working! Keep in touch!

Thank you for your message! Sorry so late getting back to you but I haven't been on here in a while but I'm trying to get my act back together lol. I haven't had any issues with my hair, it is actually healthier now than it was this time last year! But you still have to make sure to get in your protein for overall health of your skin, nails, and hair and diet. Thank you very much for the compliments...my glowing face is mostly from the flash (lol) and otherwise from my mom/grandma! My only problem areas that I hate to look at are my stomach of course, but it's not loose skin, and the back of my arms. But I'm working on it so I'm sure they'll go down with time, most likely be the last areas that get fit! Good luck to you on your journey and sisterly love back at ya!

Yeah I know about the soups, my dietician rang yesterday and said I could start mushies and I said I'd been having pumpkin soup and she was just like "oh you probably shouldnt have had that" so I was just like wtf you never mentioned that? Grrrr lol. Definitely still worried tho cuz when I had some mashed up pumpkin and gravy for dinner last night I got a little stabbing pain behind the port and it freaked me out heaps - So now I'm worried about eating again today, eh it's all just a vicious cycle - It sucks that your work orders in - Maybe you could go to some sushi place and order some miso soup? That's one of the few take out soups I've heard people can have but haven't ever had it so dunno if it tastes great lol. I definitely need to buy some protein shakes tho, be so much easier if I could just find one I could mix in with food that had no flavour.

I lost about 15-20 lbs during the first month and a half. After I got my first fill is when it really shot off. I have to mainly stay away from red meat. Everything else is OK as long as I eat slowly and not too much. In regards to my social life- girl, it improved!! As sad as it is, society accepts beauty and the "healthy", well-kept body. I do not agree with how that is, but it's a fact... The only thing my surgery does semi-affect is when I go out to eat. I cannot sit and eat as much as everyone else so people question my health- like I have an eating disorder or something. What I have come to love is there is so much more to do than go out to eat... Why is that always the first option?? I did not have the surgery for anyone besides myself.... that is the only advice I can give you. Do it for you!!! You have to be mentally prepared for a LIFESTYLE change! Keep me posted on your progress... Let me know if you have anymore questions. ~Jamie

eight cups of water, seven boullion cubes, six jumbo eggs and pepper to taste.
that's it super easy. and it was good. i like larger pieces of egg in mine. you just have to make sure that if you do that you chew them up really good.
he decided to make that for me cuz i can't drink the protein shakes anymore. was on the two weeks pre op and they just about make me gag. i can doctor them up sometimes, but still almost can't handle it. so the soup was liquid and i got a little protein from the eggs.

Congrats, My surgery is the 23rd. I don't feel ready. Has it been hard to get all your protein in. Did you diet before the surgery? Any info would help ease my mind Thanks, Debbie

Hello,
I actually saw you post something on another person's page and I was wondering..... I just got banded on 5/20 and I have lost 10 lbs post-op and 6 pre-op so thats 16lbs total. Buuuuuut now I am on puree and for whatever reason have not lost anymore weight!!! I'm super upset about it because I liked stepping on the scale every morning seeing another lbs gone.... any suggestions... I try to get my protein in but its rather hard with the amount of space I have. I have also noticed today that I can eat more than usual... I can't wait to get a fill!!! Thanks for your help! ttyl
