I dare U 2 beat my NSV... I rode the bull!!!

Being at The Cowgirls, Inc. in Seattle with a bunch of drunken ironworkers rates pretty high in my book. Sounds like an NSV to me!
  2. Well...I have so many NSV's since my RNY!!! Being able to exercise, sitting with my Grandchildren in my recliner with room left over, shopping!!! I used to hate to go shopping now HHHMMM I think I love it too much!!! Setting a good example for my grandkids and my daughter, feeling good, less pain, kind of happy in my own skin (sometimes) Not feeling like I am the biggest person in the room (sometimes) I am working on this!! And like you I am a past Horseback rider!! I might try it again. Now if only my mind catches up with my weight loss things would be so much better. I hope it will come. CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming WLS!!!

    Any Non Scale Victories?

I can repeat several of the others NSV's! 1. Went shopping this weekend and bought several things in the regular women's department, not 'woman'. Wearing XL shirts now, all the dresses in the plus sizes were too big. 2. Clothes are cheaper in the regular department - saved $4 at Kohl's on the same exact shrug, only in a smaller size (and it fits better!) 3. Feel better all around. 4. Haven't had soda since surgery and feel most proud of that. 5. Smile a lot more, because I know I look better. 6. Easier to make good food choices when it doesn't look so hopeless. Kristen

    Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

I am more of a lurker here, but thought I'd post some of my NSV's and weight loss. I was banded on 9/30/05, I have two fills and I've lost 41 lbs. A big NSV I had today was I went to Sam's Club and bought a size 16 capri pant without trying them on. Got home and they are too big, I have to take them back for a 14, woo hoo. I am noticing more size loss than poundage loss. I have a hard time mentally with the fact that I am not losing more pounds, but when I try clothes on, that mental struggle goes away. I like to hear all the positive stories from everyone.

  7. Hi all, after seeing quite a few pictures from (Before & After) thread and (NSV photo) thread I noticed the need to start a thread to show the ladies breasts before and after the band. I think it would be a great source of info since we can get a clear picture of how breasts reacts to weight loss, and in the same time it would be a great chance for ladies to show off their most valuable asset to our community. Regards, Magic
  8. Today I was able to comfortably fit into a misses 16 pants. Horray for me!!!! BUT tonight when I went shopping for more new clothes I realized that I have no idea how to shop for regular size clothes. If that makes any sense?? I wandered around the clothing department looking at clothes thinking, I'll never be able to wear those and when I picked them up and mentally sized them up I didn't believe that I could wear them or that they could possible look good on me. I know it's a mental thing from years and years of never being able to shop for cute clothes because they did not make them in plus sizes. Also, I am finding that most of the clothes are made for younger girls with out sagging underarms and boobs! Where are the clothes with sleeves that cover my saggy arms!! I still want clothes that cover my older body. I was mainly looking for pants for work and while I realize that it is almost summer, how about some long pants instead of capri's and short shorts. I don't mean to grouch because I'm thrilled to be in smaller sizes, but I need adult styles. Anyone else with this problem?? :scared2:

    Disneyland NO SEATBELT EXTENDER!

WONDERFUL! I just got back from Paris Disney where everything is teeny tiny, and I could also fit comfortably into everything. Best sort of NSV are the ones that let you enjoy the magic too!
  10. So, here I am, just a few days shy of 9 months post-op. Some of my favorite NSVs have been a surprise to me. Here are my favorites: 1. Having to buy new shoes. Who knew your feet would shrink. 2. Running a 12 minute mile. I hate running, but I had to try...just because I could now run. 3. Not having to expend mental energy every time I go to sit, stand, bend over, or any other physical activity I used to have to think about before doing it. 4. Being told by my Primary Care doctor that she didn't need to see me every 4 months any more, but just twice a year as I am now considered to be a healthy person with no issues. 5. Having a group of Firemen flirt with me in the grocery store. I looked behind me, because I was certain they were talking to someone over my shoulder. =) Seriously, at 50 this is quite the NSV. 6. sleeping through the night and waking up with energy. Loving my sleeve and so glad I had the surgery.

    Maryland NSVs

LSasha told me to come here......I have on a top today that my sister gave me last year and I could not fit it then. This morning I wanted to wear something diffrent then my usual blouses that have gotten a little bigger. So I tore I up my place looking for this white, wrap blouse which I found and had only wore once. I put it on and it is not the same becuase the boobs have gone south. I then found a pj set that is much looser then before, oh yeah I found a velvet night gown and yeah I was trying on all these things this morning at 5:15am when I should have been getting ready for work. LOL Anyhow my top is black with fringes on the bottom that swing and it is not a long top like a usually wear. So this is a daring NSV for me. YEAHHHHH ME:banana :banana :banana

    EXCESS SKIN questions!

oh my goodness....I hadn't seen this thread until now. Thanks for the laughs, ladies!!! Here's one for the Sad But True category -- I can't call it a NSV, how about a NSA(Non-scales Actuality)?? One way I can tell that I'm losing is my considerable APRON is getting longer and thinner. It's hard to get excited about weight loss when it comes with such uncomely results.
  14. Well it's COLD up here in Northern, Michigan. So,, I thought I would try on a pair of Corduroy pants to stay warm. I tried them on about a month ago, and they were to small. Well I wanted to see how it was coming along ? They were so lose, that you needed a belt to hold them up. So on goes the Belt.... It's to BIG for my waist, YES ! So a few holes put into it and I am wearing the pants, and walking to a Mirror, But I hear silence as I walk.... My Thighs are NO LONGER ! slapping against each other,,,, AMEN ! I thought that day would never come. So that's a few Good ones I think ! If anyone asks me "DO YOU THINK THIS BAND REALLY WORKS ?" I would say HE!! YEAH ! :woot::::woot:::woot::::woot:

    YES, THAT's a great NSV!
  17. There were many reasons for me choosing WLS in the first place, and the biggest drive force was for me to be able to conceive, have a healthy pregnancy, and deliver a healthy baby without the complications of obesity during pregnancy. I've been waiting 3 long weeks to share this news with all of you, and am happy to report I AM PREGNANT ! ! ! After 14 long, exhausting, and emotionally draining months, I'm finally pregnant. I am considered high risk for several reasons, and VSG does throw me into that category along with other medical issues I have which are NOT related to VSG at all. I have an idiopathic clotting disorder and the cause, reason is still unknown. We do know that I am missing certain Protein factors in my platelets, but other than that, they can not pinpoint the cause or even give it a name hence the "idiopathic". We know the treatment is similar to that of Von Willebrand's disease, but all of my work ups have been negative for VW factor. It's kind of crazy, and I have a feeling I will be having more lab work due to the disorder and pregnancy. I have that "mother's intuition" that we are pulling for Team Blue, and if all goes well, I will have a repeat c-section and tubal ligation since I will be 35 yrs old a month after the baby is delivered. My husband is elated, overjoyed, and of course stressed. He's become the food police all over again, and worries that I am not eating enough. BUT, per the recommendations, I am getting enough calories/protein/carbs currently. They expect me to gain 25-30lbs during the pregnancy, and I kind of snickered at that thought process, but I am not saying it won't happen. I've never read any WLS patient gaining that much post-WLS except band patients. So, we'll see how the weight gain goes. Thus far, I am experiencing sore boobs, crazy food cravings for anything spicy, and fatigue. I have experienced zero morning sickness and for that I am very grateful. I've been cleared to continue my Celebrate multi, b12, and Calcium. The formulation of these Vitamins actually exceed the values of any prenatal on the market, and my labs looked stellar except for my platelets were low normal (which is normal for me). Today was my first ultrasound appointment. I knew the day we conceived "Little Sprout", and had the due date spot on. Everything was perfect, strong, steady heartbeat at 150bpm, everything looked good internally. I'm being referred to a civilian high-risk ob/gyn team and my pregnancy will be co-managed between them and the base provider. All this means is that I'll have double appointments that most pregnant women have to go through. Sorry for the quality. The base equipment is a bit dated, but we were able to hear the heartbeat, and of course I cried. My husband was able to attend, and he just stood there staring at the screen kind of in awe. It was truly the most joyous event I've experienced. Thank you for all of your continued support and encouragement. I would ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. This is going to be a long process, and Sprout is due November 5th. This place is kind of like my 2nd home so I'm sure I'll be posting more updates as the months progress. . Oh and I don't have much of a belly bump at all yet. I'm bloating, but my clothes are fitting the same, and I have not gained any weight to date. I'm not any hungrier than I was before pregnancy, just insane cravings for random foods I would not have eaten. It'll be interesting to see how I look this pregnancy. I was around 200lbs when I was pregnant with my son 13 yrs ago, and gained 37lbs so I was just huge and round. This time I'm interested to see how my body changes, and hopefully I'll get the cute baby bump that I see on everyone else.

The best NSV thus far ! ! !

That is by far the BEST NSV I have heard in my time on VST. Love it!!! You and Sprout are in my prayers. It sounds like you're off to a great start!
  19. Since my preop diet started in May I have lost a total of 82 lb. I was sleeved on July 21. I feel great mentally & physically. I have been working out & having NSV'S etc. Today however, I felt good, felt thinner than I looked I guess! My hubby took a pic of me & I looked & I about fell over! Fatness all over again! I haven't gained, I HAVE NOT CHEATED, NOT ONCE. I just mentally thought I looked thinner than I did! My own mental image of myself was better than what the camera showed me!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! I am supposed to want to show off pics now, not hide them like I used to. Has this happened to anyone? ????????

    Poll: What is your goal?

I’m 5’1 and my goal is 130 lbs. I’ve got a little over 40 lbs to go! Best NSV- wearing size 10 jeans. I was wearing a tight 24 before surgery. HW: 282.2 lbs SW: 256.4 lbs CW: 173.2
  21. Well, just came from my PCP's office and I am a fuming!!! He just informed me that he considers my weight loss surgery a miserable failure and he's not going to recommend it to anyone else. I've been hovering between 216/217 For the last few days. Well, I didn't take my normal water pill that I take daily because I don't like to take it until 'm home and near the bathroom. Anyhow, I weighed 220 on his scale this morning which of course I was upset over as well. I was OK until he called me a failure at this WLS and he also said it's ridiculous if you have to keep going for fills and you're still not losing fast enough. Well, I had enough of his negative talk and blasted back that I am not a failure and considering when I first saw him many years ago I was 289. I started my lapband journey at 267 on 12/28/12. I said I've still lost weight and that is what counts. Last time I saw him 3 months ago I wanted to cry because he felt I had not lost weight fast enough (at that point I was down 37 lbs. according to his scale I'm ONLY down 47 lbs and that's not good enough. I should be losing 2 lbs a week, every week according to Dr. "DOOM"! Anyway, I didn't feel like crying this time. This time I wanted to scratch his eyes out. I've still lost 10 lbs in a 12 week period. I still haven't taken my water pill yet but taking that pill makes me lose 4 lbs like in a 12 hr period. Hey, I'm proud of my weight loss and I'm not going to let anyone steal my thunder especially my PCP! I've had many NSV's as well like fitting in smaller clothing, being able to walk more in the stores, etc . If my PCP knew how serious I am with my calories etc., maybe he'd get rid of that negative attitude of his. As far as I'm concerned my PCP is the failure! Not me! I'm still fuming but I'll calm down after awhile. They say 3 strikes and your out. Well, considering the fact he's not a BARIATRIC doctor, I'm giving him one more chance. In Nov. I'll have my 3rd visit with my PCP, if he so much as suggests I'm a failure again, that will be my last visit with him. I already have a new PCP in mind and he's about a mile from my house so I could walk there Just letting everyone considering the lapband, that I love my my band! I may be a slow loser but at least I'm losing. Don't let any doctor talk you out of it. I think all PCP's should all take a course in bariatric medicine before they judge anyone.
  22. Right there with you girl! I have been stuck for almost 2 months. I've eeked out about 3 lost in that time but usually the same up and down. Although, I've been on vacation twice in the 2 months for a week at at time so there were some splurges. Not on really bad things like bread, Pasta, and processed carbs ( it's my promise to my self to not go there till the end of the year) but on some wine and skinny girl margaritas so I can get the stall from that respect. However, the inches are still coming off. my 12 shorts are getting looser and have tried on 10's but won't buy them. Although short season here in Texas lasts till Oct. but that's only another month and I do get a cheap thrill out of jacking up my britches from time to time. I'm easily amused that way. My closet is getting emptier by the day and I love it! I look forward to when I get to my goal and fill it back up with cute and stylish clothes. Black will no longer be the mainstay of my color pallet. I will have a little black dress though! I am making excellent choices most of the time and It is becoming a natural thing to do. That is the NSV for me. Ice cream? Not even tempted, the way I feel now feels WAY better than ice cream. Last week I'm on the plane on the way home, sitting there playing the the huge extra amount of seat belt material, who know it could be so entertaining? Later in the flight, I realize I am sitting with my legs crossed WITH the tray table down! How freaking cool is that? I didn't even know that was possible! I honestly have ZERO regrets and yes, we are still on the honeymoon and I fully realize the hard work really kicks in when we get to goal and have to maintain for the rest of our lives. I'm sure I will moan and complain from time to time, but I am 100% sure it will be worth the work! I'm SO happy for you and I know exactly how you feel!

Well hello kitty! and thanks for the smile. I hope I get an encouraging NSV that soon. I am such an impatient person. Thanks for posting this.

    Poll: What is your goal?

I'm 5'3" HW was 412 and CW 357 (still pre-op). My goal is 150, but like someone else said, getting off meds, and walking better are most important. I haven't been under 300 in 35 years. NSV would be increased ability to move around. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

    My first NSV!

I work for a website. Once a year, we have a party, for the anniversary of the company and invite members from the website. Last night was this year's party. Most of the people, I hadn't seen since last year. I ended up having about 8 people comment on how much weight I'd lost. My coworkers, don't really notice, as they see me everyday - so it felt pretty darn good! It was the first time since the surgery that people who didn't know about it (the surgery), commented on my weightloss. *dancing a happy dance* hehe
