Thanks all for the feedback on bowel movements - I had one today and felt great- I'm sure that's TMI but I was happy I didn't need to take anything to help alleviate it. -

Oh P.S. this may be TMI but after about 3-4 days you will have the most productive, amazing BM's ever. I know that is an issue for some of us. -
Hey ya'll. Just to give ya'll a lil bit of background. i was sleeved on 9/25/13. I had the sleeve done and also a hiatal hernia fixed. I have been fine up untill 2 days ago. i have currently been getting short deep chest pains. I have not been able to consume ANYTHING for 2 days now. today is day 3. As soon as i consume even a sip of water i get a chest pain and couple mins later i'm runnign to the restroom cause i feel like im going to poo on myself (tmi i know lol). But all i do is strain and hurt. I seen my surgeon yesterday and he says he has no idea what is wrong that if it keeps up just to let him know. Does ANYONE have any idea or suggestions?? i feel like a walking zombie with no energy at all. OH and to add to all of this today i have thrown up twice just stomach acid. ITs horrible somone help.....

October Sleevers - Who else

Mine had been 8 days- used ducolax suppository' date=' worked like a charm! Perhaps TMI but when you fell nauseated all the time like I did still, it was truly the best option! -
Had anyone experienced severe constipation post op? Im pretty concerned that I cant go to the bathroom on my own even with fiber stool softeners laxatives suppositories...nothin works! Im gonna call my surgeon tomorrow but wondered if anyone else has gone through this...kinda miserable

My port and my bra are not getting along at all. 2 weeks post op and of course my port area is sore as expected. Heck my steri-strips just fell off a few days ago. Anyway...Finally got out today & went to the mall and had several "Ouch" moments. My port was killing me when I would bend a certain way or reach. Got home and figured out it was my bra causing the irritation. With the bra on it causes restriction so when I bend it would pull. But afer all those pains I felt i am now braless but still having pain. So back to the Loritab I go and Sports Bras from on until I heal. I know...tmi

3 mos out. OMG! What have I done? Protein makes me nauseous
PGee replied to K33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
K33 I hear you about wrapping your brain around the tiny meals......some days 3 bites are it.....and on those days I can be heard muttering something like "Are you kidding me? Seriously?!?" But it only takes a few seconds to shake it......the benefits of this surgery are totally worth it for me......I am happy with the weight loss, how I look, how I feel, the extra energy, not to mention the sex is great (TMI? sorry).......and hubby is happy, too.....the woman he married is back. I don't have any dietary restrictions....I make a crockpot meal each week, portion it out and freeze it---always have a variety of meals in the freezer in VSG sized portions to choose from, and the Protein is nice and moist.......I eat slow and my meals are tiny, but to reach my protein goals, I have to drink a Protein Drink for Breakfast. Good luck, HTH! -
I am almost 14 months post op and haven't been on a date . I have had more attention I use to but not from the type of guys I want to date. I am terrified of dating because I still can only eat about 5 bites with out feeling sick. I also am terrified of being naked around a guy! My stomach is so bad and saggy and I know tmi but I swear the top of my nether regions is still really fat! I am 28 and single and haven't had anyone seriously interested in me since high school. I have given up. I just don't think it's going to happen for me! Guess it's just me and my romance novels for a while

favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's
SerendipityHappens replied to SerendipityHappens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've had a pannus since age 11... I have no idea what it will be like without one...It's just part of my body that I'm so used to now I can't imagine not having it.. .I actually have two sticks of deodorant.. one for my pits and one for under my roll.... TMI? perhaps, but it will be nice to downgrade to only one stick of deodorant and some point! I guess I can add that to the list of NSVs I'm looking forward to. -
Help! Vegeterian in full liquid pre op diet... Recipes please :)
erikalexandra19 replied to erikalexandra19's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is my second day on the pre op. Been having Protein shakes, sugar free pudding, yogurt... But the salty stuff is what's really has me stuck.. I had some lentil soup today (but it doesn't set well, makes gassy... TMI, sorry). I don't eat meat, or poultry, and I'm allergic to shellfish... (In another words, I'm a pain in the butt). -
I think I have some sort of stomach bug. No vomiting (thank goodness!!), but horrible diarrhea that is literally like water. I'm trying to stay hydrated, but I just feel icky and no much like drinking. I think I've only had 8oz of fluids today and it's 3pm. I don't feel the signs of dehydration though. I know pre-op I was always told to do the BRAT (banana/rice/apple/toast) diet when sick with diarrhea, but obviously i can't eat that stuff now. Any ways to help bind me up? I had some grilled chicken over salad for lunch, and the salad literally went right through me. Help!

Haven't had one since Sunday. Had surgery Monday. Any ideas or how long does it take?

Any October surgeries out there...
Chelle replied to debbiedenise's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on 10/21- Monday and wanted to give an update. So, I had the rny, and I also had my ovaries removed. I was in surgery a total of 4.5 hours. I guess they ran into a lot of scar tissue when working on my ovaries. I have 3 extra holes because of that. Day 2 was BY FAR the worst as far as pain. We were trying to remove the IV and keep my pain under control with oral meds. Bleck. I wanted to walk a bunch more than I did, but it was hard to keep getting someone in the room to unhook my leg massager things, and reattach my oxygen to the portable oxygen tank. For some reason my oxygen kept tanking. I finally started using the spirometer thing (spelling?) and was able to cough up a bunch of gunk.....that helped my sat's a ton. When I came home I still needed a lot of help transferring. Getting up, sitting or laying down etc. Today is the first day I am doing it on my own. I havent hit my Protein goal yet, but will try again today. I am getting good Water however- so yay! Ooooh in the hospital they gave me this NASTY stool softener- and sent a huge bottle home with me. Turns out, I don't need it at all. Seems the more liquids go in, the same amount come out. The hardest part is trying to twist and get wiped and cleaned up. Sorry....probably TMI....but I try to time my 'bathroom' events to be shortly after I have taken a pain med so its more tolerable. Hope this helps someone. I know I was sure craving these detailed stories before my surgery- so here is mine. Hugs and prayers to everyone!! -
How was your 5:2 day today?
UK Cathy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hope everyone is well. I fasted yesterday and I'm having a light week in anticipation of my holiday next week. I just had to share with you ladies and I hope it is not TMI but I just had a 'never trust a fart' situation. I had one of these a couple of weeks post op but never since and I am 18 months out now! I went out with husband and MIL for lunch and I ordered a starter portion of poached salmon and because I don't eat many salad leaves I thought I would have a side order of mushrooms. I ate the salmon and about half of the mushrooms. Fast forward about 30 mins after meal and I was hanging out the laundry and 'it' happened. I immediately had to shower and change. Thank goodness I was at home, if it had happened anywhere else I would have been mortified. I blame the mushrooms, I haven't had many since being sleeved and I might just take them off the menu again. I could do with popping out to the shops but I think I will leave it for now and make sure my tum is OK. I'm going to the theatre tonight so want to make doubly sure. LV- hope your tuning in and that you are feeling better about yourself. You give lots of love and support on this site, let us now return the favour and give you the support you need. Georgia you seem to be wasting away, those scales love you at the moment but it is just the reward for the hard work you have put into the 5:2 Brown your head seems to be in the right place now, I don't love the exercise but I do make myself do it. The first year I went to a ladies only gym that is the equivalent of curves and I found that fine. The past few months I got a trainer who comes to the house, I booked 10 sessions initially and she came once a week, I then booked another 10 and she comes every other week. I do the exercises myself about 3 times per week. Ido enjoy this more as the exercises are tailored to me and what I want to achieve. Coops, you on half term next week? If so enjoy the rest. I fly Sunday so I am going to make my weigh in day Sunday this week (instead of Monday ) then next week I am going to enjoy myself but not overindulge, most probably no fast days and then just back to it when I return. -
did you have any complications and what were they?
Roo101769 replied to birdmadgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 10/21. I had some minor complications, but nothing really dramatic. My surgery got bumped into later in the day, ended up being done at 2pm instead of 10am. So that evening was shot. I did have trouble waking up fully from it. They sort of held back pain meds due to this so I was super hurting by the time it was worked out. I also had terrible nausea. I actually did throw up a bunch of blood (sorry-TMI) before they could get me setteled. I think I got stronger anti nausea stuff after that. I had one incision that was oozing LOTS of stuff. I had a drain on left side, this was the right. The surgical resident who was in during the surgery said my subcuteneous tissue was "mush" due to being a blood thinner user. They really didn't have anything to stitch together there, so it was sort of open. At the end of day two they came in, cleaned it well and then applied a LOT of pressure. It hurt, but ended up working. Then the put derma bond over it to glue it shut. Having the drain pulled did not feel good, but help ease the left side pain a bit when gone. So far at home I have had trouble with fluid intake, but getting better. I have to give myself Lovenox injections thru tomorrow and can't wait for those to be done. I didn't get one in deep enough and now have a sore spot on my already mangled tummy from it. And I have been having stomach spasms. Nothing terrible, just a very weird feeling. Think it is just trying to restart and will take some time to smooth out..That is all for me. Nothing earth shattering by any means, but I will be happy when I am at the end of the surgical healing process! -
Today it has been exactly four months and nine days since my Sleeve on June 5, 2013. I have lost 88 lbs., 12 Pants Sizes, 2 Shirt Sizes, 1 full Shoe Size and 14 pills! I am so very happy I made this decision. I am amazed at the transformation not just of my body but of the abilities I now have and the goals I have reached. BS (Before Sleeve) I was using a walker to do any walking at all. I could not shower without a shower chair, I could not go shopping in stores without automatic carts, I only left my house to go to the Dr. I could not stand up long enough to cook meals anymore, I had a full time caretaker, I could not clean or do laundry, I didn't drive unless I had too, I could not hold my Grandson because I had no lap, I would not have sexual relations with my husband because it was too un-comfortable and I felt to ugly, I didn't ever have the desire to go visit people, I could not go to parties or out with my friends to socialize at all. I stayed home and moped and honestly just waited for death to come and get me. AS (After Sleeve) I now go to the Mall with my daughter, I go out to lunch with friends, on dates with hubby, I shop, I cook, I clean, I even am working an area for a garden next year. I no longer need a caregiver and was just released from the program yesterday. I no long use a walker or automatic carts, or a shower chair! I only take 3 medications a day. I love to go visit and go to thrift stores and play with and hold my Grandson! I have sex on a semi-regular basis. (I know TMI) The point is... If you are thinking of having this surgery, Stop Thinking!!!! & Start doing!!! It took me over 2 1/2 years to get approval so get on it now and then do your thinking while you are in the process. You can always opt out later. I would never take it back, because honestly I never thought I would be a real person again and I had all but given up on life. I am however, a whole person again, a real person, with a real life, and real friends. I am even considering finally going back to work after six years of disability. I hope this helps anyone in making up their minds and I hope it inspires everyone who reads it. Blessings to all, Candie Before Day of Surgery Day after Surgery Yesterday

Hi all- it's been a while since I have posted. I have been struggling this past week. I am struggling in the heat to eat enough and am finding that when I do eat it's going right through me (sorry if that was TMI). My question is has anyone else struggled with this and what can I do as my energy levels are really low and I am dizzy quite a lot - plus the stomach pains after I eat until it goes through me are pretty awful. I can't have shakes etc as they go through me too. I am only eating steamed green veggies and grilled chicken or fish- keeping it simple but it still doesn't stay down. Yesterday I managed to eat less than 200 cal and today's about the same. This is not at all my intent but I just can't keep much besides water down easily. I am getting over gastro from last week too so maybe it's related. I have not consulted a dietician but am planning on doing so soon but anything I can try in the interim would be great Thanks!!! Cheers Liss

Has anyone found that after getting banded their tolerance of spicy food is different or they can't eat it anymore? I love spicy food, but pre-band I always had water on hand to help with the spiciness ... Today I had an omelet with jalapeño peppers in it - my mouth was on fire & I couldn't even drink water due to the rules. Then I had a bad end result several hours later via a visit to the bathroom where I swear my @ss was on fire (sorry TMI) and all I could think was "this girl is on fire" (Alicia keys song) ... But not in a good way

Ooh I forgot. I've been able to bend over with no problem since yesterday and my steri-strips fell off of my JP drain site. I thought it would be a huge hole site but it isn't! Little marks just like the rest of them. My other incisions are doing well- they hardened a little bit but still look good. Really thin lines. The one at the bra line is really undetectable but still a little tender so I'm still using my sports bras. One more thing that may be TMI-keep MOM handy. I thought I had accomplished something by having my second BM since surgery (my first was a milk of magnesia miracle), so much so I shared what I felt was about to happen with the BF who was less than impressed. Well, I was calling on sweet baby Jesus to help me it was so bad. I will officially be taking MOM every 2-3 days. -
Hi all. I had my surgery 8.14.13. My starting weight was 322 surgery wght was 303.6 cw is 262.1. Those numbers just now my mind . So far so good. I've become lactose intolerant since surgery. So it's making some forms of protein quite hard but I'm doing it. The only problem so far is female related. I've have my period for 7 out of the 9 weeks. Like really bad though. Scary bad. Anyone else have this issue? Sorry for the TMI Also my next big problem is vitamins. I can't stomach the taste of any of the chewables. What are people using?

Hey folks. OD - sorry about your break up. But honestly, as hard as it is to be alone, it's better than settling and inviting different unhappiness into your life. Good luck getting out there and meeting new people. Have fun with it. Allow yourself some time to be sad for what might have been but stay strong and don't allow yourself to eat emotionally! You've done well on 5:2 - don't compromise your success. Brown - you're not the only person that justifies healthy snacks or late night nibbles. Night is hardest for me, too. Especially if I let a certain snack time become a habit! I have to keep it all over the place or I have a terrible time. For me, the habit is harder than kicking the desire to eat - most often I eat because it's time to eat or an established habit, not because I'm hungry! Hang in there! Great job Cathy! And Georgia, you're the queen here - you've had amazing success! GT, it's the little things, isn't it? When I got back stateside, the sheer selection in the stores was overwhelming and I wasn't nearly as remote a location as you. I just spun around in circles because everywhere I looked there were CHOICES! And I drink a protein coffee every single morning. YUM. So, my scale is the enemy but what else is new? We're sick around here again (round three in 2.5 weeks for the three kids and myself!) and lack of sleep has me up a touch. I actually saw 147 on the scale the other day, and I can't blame hormones (at least not directly) as I finally, FINALLY got to see the end of that never-ending period. TMI, but whatever. Seriously, any woman that has a cycle for nearly 40 days gets to complain about it! I'm at 145 again today. I really, really, really want to see at least 141 again. That was the top end of my maintenance window. I'm having such a hard time though. I had no idea that this was going to be so hard and so, well, out of my control, really. Because I feel like even when I do the "right" things I'm not losing, you know? Today I had a protein coffee for breakfast and I'm having an egg white and chicken sausage scramble for lunch in a few hours. Boring old chicken with steamed veggies and a salad for dinner. I'm fasting, can you tell? No snacks. NO SNACKS. I need to nip the snacking in the bud, because I find myself wanting to eat all night long, even when I'm not hungry. Water is my new snack. Lots and lots of water. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm off. I'm fighting a chest cold and I got the cold virus in my eye - can you believe that? Now I've got this horrible swollen, red eye to accompany my runny nose and my cough. Lovely. I look a mess, that's for certain. Elisheva has a cold, too, poor thing. She was up all night with a runny/stuffy nose. So here's hoping a nap (a nice, long two hour one!) is in our future. Because Mama needs a break, I swear. ~Cheri
