Also - no exercise bc i have a sore on my thigh from chafing. ugh, that will be the sweetest nsv, when THAT doesn't happen anymore!!!! -
Well I finally found out that after wearing a size 52 in men's jeans , I tried to fit in a size 38 , well I have a little more ways to go but I now know that I fit in a size 40_42 & that's in a men's Levi jeans so I would consider that a nsv I guess I went down about 10 sizes in 2 year the size 38s just didn't want to fit over my hips just yet .

Thanks ya'll. I agree, I think recognizing NSV's is a huge part of this whole process. I couldn't have made it this far without the love and support of my LBT family! Ya'll rock and not just a little!!!!!!!!!

I think you should keep in mind that fluctuations happen, I just gained 5lbs from being sick (eating salty broth) if I didn't know what was going on I would go crazy. But its not a true gain of fat, it's water retention. Scales are not always the best measure of progress. That's why we have the NSV threads...

@@gowalking It is the posts and gracious shared experiences, such as those you have made, and so many others here on this forum, that keep our pre op hopes alive! Although I am still trapped in my prison body, I am buoyed daily by the amazing outcomes of those who have gone before. These words and testimonies, they strengthen my resolve, and fortify my patience. They allow me to poke fun at myself and release my inner fears through the outlets of laughter and hope. Hope above all else. Just as you would wish to somehow give us pre ops a way to better envision our glorious futures. We pre ops wish that we could better illustrate to you, that as a post op, here on bariatric pal - you already have. We virtually and vicariously walk in your shoes, share in your milestones, your NSV's, your incredible happiness, we feel with you, the realization of every heartfelt dream. We run with you, and bike with you, and hike, and dance, and live with a capital "L"! We fly - and it's only because you care for us, and nurture us, and keep us focused forever on the goal. So thank you for giving us this incredible gift. For allowing us to see the world the way you do, and always keeping us in line. I see my beautiful future, and it's all thanks to you. It's bright and shiny, and everything I've ever wanted. I promise you, gowalking, my eyes are gloriously open! In fact, I plan to never shut them again! That is wonderful!! Just reading all of your NSV's brought a sense of happiness to my heart, as I know what it feels like to not be able to do all of those things! I couldn't hardly fit in the high school desks when I was in high school! I haven't had the sleeve yet but I love reading all of these wonderful NSV's! Congrats girl!!! -
What are you excited for?
alwaysvegas replied to Brn2blossom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You all are on such a great journey and are going to feel better and better! I began losing weight mid-January this year. My surgery was the end of July. So far this year I have: Lost over 100 lbs Went from size 46 pants to size 36 (and still dropping!) Quit smoking Quit sodas Quit caffeine Quit most processed foods Started exercising (cardio + strength training) 4-5 days a week Cured sleep apnea Cholesterol normalized Cured diabetes (I was pre-diabetic) pre-surgery Blood pressure normalized Bought a fantastic new wardrobe Let me tell you all...I just went on vacation and I sat in the airplane seat and I cold cinch the belt halfway now. I needed an extender before. If any of you have been in that embarrassing situation, let me tell you...cinching an airplane belt is a huge validation! I could've cried. I could cross my legs too! While on vacation I walked for HOURS without problem. I even went hiking for several hours. Not a pain in my back or legs. I felt HEALTHY. food still tastes delicious, but it only takes a small amount to get that full feeling that I could never seem to get before surgery. Food doesn't rule my life now. Eating is actually sort of nuisance at times...I'd rather be doing something else, but I haven't eaten in four hours lol! I can't believe that. I bought some chili while on vacation and I had to throw half of it away because I was full. I don't think I've ever thrown food away in my life. I'm still laughing at that. Keep those positive attitudes folks! You will still have to do the work, but the sleeve is the most incredible tool I could've hoped for! Don't forget that there will be many great victories along the way to your goal weight...those are the non-scale victories (NSV) you'll see so many of us talking about. Best of luck to you all! -
wonderful NSV! one of the things I'd like when I get to a normal weight is to be able to be a passenger with the husband. comfortably. We need more time away from the teenagers.

I'm still in a scale stall at almost one month but I have lost some inches AND my blood pressure has gone down so much I was taken off those meds. Oh and also my blood sugar seems to have normalized around 90. Down from the 150s. Some little NSVs for me. @@Veronica Page I'm really happy for your loss. You're exactly one week ahead of me.

Ugh I can't wait til I'm in the onederland numbers. I still have so far to go and it is taking a long time mentally but in reality I know it is not bad at all. I started going to the gym this week for 90 mins of cardio and I do 50 mins of strength training with my trainer. I have manage to burn off more then what I eat every day which I think pushed me over my stall. THANK GOODNESS....I really don't seem to mentally handle the stalls very well. I know I should be patient cause I tell others to but man it is really annoying. I did take my monthly pics and I can not see the different but I def can feel the difference. I'm down three pant sizes and I can fit into old clothes but in the pic I just can not see a difference. I think that will be the best NSV for me when I can really see a difference. I'm super proud of everyone on this thread. I think we are all doing so well. A year ago I did not think I would ever see this weight again and I'm glad I finally decided to take my life back and break up with my addiction to food, Well, I'll always be addicted but now I have learned how to fight it!

July 2020 Surgery anyone?
Double_Me replied to IWantTheDream's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear everyone is doing well! I had a big scale victory the other day- I'm now over halfway to my goal! As for NSV, I'm in the same boat as @BigSue, where my formerly 'too small' clothes are now mostly too large. I've had to buy a couple of pieces and punch a couple of holes into my pants. I can also feel my feet getting looser in my shoes. Not looking forward to replacing my footwear collection.. hopefully I can get away with wearing larger shoes if I have fuzzy socks on. -
I'm a therapist at a nursing home. One my pts came up to slapping my hip saying where did you go! where did you go! She cannt talk Very well but used her hands to make shap of a body and did a thumbs up. So sweet!

wow Pati, just what I needed to hear. I have just over two weeks before I see Dr Kuri, too, and I'm looking forward to the results. Way to go!!! Those are awesome NSV's.

I had a NSV a couple of days ago when I went shopping. I live in Korea and as you can imagine it's almost impossible to buy plus size clothes here. We go to one store usually which we call the fat store. I went there last week and everything was too big! Then on Friday I went to H&M and was able to buy a pair of jeans and a top. I'm not plus sized anymore. Also I'm getting a lot more attention from guys. Not sure how to take that though. Having some issues... -
All the NSV's are so nice to read. I am glad my post caught on.

I was laying down and yelled at my husband to run over because i thought i had a tumor in my abdomen................I grabbed his hand and put it on the hard spot of my abdomen........he laughed and said "those are your ribs"! HAHAHA!! The other nsv is: When I went home for thanksgiving, I raided my sister's closer and took everything she doesn't use. I grabbed a size 16 jacket and thought well someday. I put it on this morning and don't look like a total sausage! It doesn't quite button all the way, but hey definately an improvement compared to those size 28 shorts i had to wear this past summer!!!

I had an NSV just today. I've had previous MRI's on my knees and they've been unable to fit my leg comfortably in the knee coil....until today!!! I had an MRI today and my leg fit perfectly in the coil! No pinching, or having to stuff the fat down to get the coil to strap on. It was such a little thing, but a HUGE deal to me!!! -
Congrats...Its so good to hear others NSV....we can hear you smiling !!!

Hey Everyone! Had a NSV moment today----well sort of. The DH and I went to the Home Depot to get some last minute odds and ends (we are remodeling our master bathroom) Anywho, there are checkouts lines at the Depot that are self-checkout and we were waiting in line for the next available. When it was our turn--a guy at the end of the line jumps ahead of me and the DH and proceeds to checkout-----well I was pissed! I announced quite loudly in from my inner monologue " Some people are so rude"! He didn't say a thing and left.....but then he came back in to the store as I was checking out and told me that if I had something to say to him that I should say it to his face---so being me--and fearless (no matter that he was bigger than me--a probably a former skin head) --I told him he was rude to his face! And he left in a huff cussing. Well, the DH and I left the depot and there was the smug bald-headed goatee wearing chode in his big POS Blazer screaming at me...and this is what he said "Hey you B_ _ ch! If this was 10 years ago I would kick your A$$ and your husbands. Now the point of the story is that it wasn't "Hey you Fat B_ _ch!" So I feel that this is a NSV :heh: Of course at this point I ignored him--and my husband told him to go on about his way and calm down. Of course my inner monologue was trying to come out and say "So, 10 years ago you would beat up a women? Good so you are not a blankey blank blank ---but now you just threaten because you are a p_ssy! ( I am a cusser, so I will not expose you guys to that) Anywho, I drive an orange vibe ( not many on the road) so my husband says that we won't be able to drive the car to the Home Depot for awhile. I was like----"HELL YES I WILL!" BRING IT ON SUCKER"!!! I AM FEARLESS! It is like the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" the parking lot scene. If you let people be rude and run all over you and you not call them on it---well they will continue it and believe that they are entitled!!! WE MUST UNITE AGAINST RUDENESS!!!! The end...... Denise

OMG!!!!
