Fantastic! Now that is a good NSV! Betty

Does giving away your first batch of clothe count as a NSV? It feels so good to look at this TALL stack of cloths and know that they are ALL too big for me! I've gone from a 30/32 to a 26/28 in 3 1/2 months! I'm luvin my band right now. If y'all know anyone who can where a size 30/32 (lives in Tx preferably because of S&H) I've got some cloths for them! I bought most of these clothes from Catherines a specialty store here in Texas for large women. Thier nice cloths and would like to find a good home for them. I've thought about consigning them since I paid a lot of money for them but would like it better if I knew a woman that could use them for herself.

another day, another NSV! I ran up a flight of stairs this evening. I didn't even realize what I had done until after I had done it! And my had my 20 pound backpack on. I wasn't even winded when I got to the top either!

NSV means non scale victory. It is anything that doesn't have to do with scales, such as something fitting, someone gives you a compliment, etc.

I am 6 weeks out today and I feel fantastic. So much so that I just registered for my first ever half marathon in November. WTF? I don't run. A killer could be chasing me and I'd just lay down. To think just a few short weeks ago I was an emotional wreck and kicking myself for going through with the surgery, and now here I am feeling better than ever and registered for a freaking half marathon. Never in a million years did I think this could be my life. THANK YOU VSG!!!

Some NSV (and a scale victory too!)
Tiffykins replied to Malaika's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your trips sounds absolutely amazing. Awesome NSV's and scale victories. I hope to see some pictures hint hint nudge nudge. -
So, Bearded and I just got back from a 7 day Carribbean Cruise - Left from San Juan, then on to St. Thomas, Dominica, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antiqua and St. Kitts, then back to San Juan. Because we'd both lost weight, we were able to do things that pre-WLS we wouldn't have been able to do -- in Dominica we went river tubing (WHAT A BLAST!!!); in St. Lucia - we went horseback riding, and in Antiqua we rode Segways (you know, mall cop?) ... and we weren't even close to the maximum weight -- what a great feeling it was not to have to worry about stepping on a scale and being told we were too heavy for the horses. (They didn't actually weigh us, but we were told they could if they wanted.) We did a lot of walking and both held up with no problems -- I have to admit the walk back up from the Emerald Falls in Dominica was a bit rough on me, but more for the fact that I'm not used to 87% humidity -- my legs and knees held up fine though! It was an awesome trip and we can't wait to do it again - something to be said about white sand and blue Water so clear you can see your toes even when you're in water up to your neck! And ... a scale victory -- 7 days on a cruise ship - and I lost 1 lb. and Bearded lost 2! And we ate what we wanted - appetizers, entree and dessert --- the best night was the lobster tail and shrimp - Had to share!! :party4::party4::party4:

Post Sleevers...Please Post Your Stats
Kindle replied to 2late4bed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
45 years old, 5'5"; HW 238; SW 216; CW 145. I never wrote down what my weight loss was as I went, so I don't know what I lost 1 month, 2 months out, etcetera. According to my ticker I met goal weight on 7/7 ( 6 1/2 months ). I STRONGLY suggest you don't weigh yourself daily or compare yourself to others. The unhappiest people on these boards are the ones that do. I only weighed about 2-3 times/month in the beginning, then weekly, now a couple times/month, mostly to have something to put on my ticker. Gauge your success by how you feel, how your clothes fit and all the other NSV's that matter way more than numbers on a scale. For me, my milestones and highlights were my rings fitting (but now they're too big), being able to shop for clothes in regular stores, crossing my legs, not feeling obsessed by food, not drinking alcohol, my knees and feet not hurting everyday, and having to buy a new saddle because my butt got way too small for my old one. -
I know you guys are having some NSV's....POST THEM!! GUESS WHAT .......I put a 3x shirt on last night. I still can't wear it out but almost there. My fat has dropped down so I have that hanging belly thing going on. I'm getting there.

To weigh or not weigh? Breaking scale obsession
GradyCat replied to iseanu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am totally scale obsessed. I actually have to get my husband to hide it from me sometimes. I weigh every day but I'm trying to train myself to limit weighing to once a week, the same time on the same day of each week, but I'm so curious as to what's happening with my weight. Water fluctuations don't help! So, long story short, I'd advise you to weigh yourself periodically, maybe every two weeks, to keep yourself in check, but not too often to get obsessed about it. Like you said, there are many other Non-Scale Victories (NSV) to measure our progress. -
OMG, I think I busted an ovary, but I RODE THE BULL! I'm so excited I'm coming out of my skin! I've wanted to ride the bull since Debra Winger in Urban Cowboy (ya gotta be damn old to know what I'm talking about.) Thanks to the band and my weight loss, not only did I get asked to dance & did the 2-step with a guy while Chris watched, but I rode the damn bull! Now go ahead and criticize how gross this picture is, but I dare YOU to try it! HA!!! (Or as hubby says, "I dare you to f-ing try it since my wife has bigger $#lls than me!"!)

Being at The Cowgirls, Inc. in Seattle with a bunch of drunken ironworkers rates pretty high in my book. Sounds like an NSV to me!

What are you most excited for after WLS?
shedo82773 replied to Kestrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well...I have so many NSV's since my RNY!!! Being able to exercise, sitting with my Grandchildren in my recliner with room left over, shopping!!! I used to hate to go shopping now HHHMMM I think I love it too much!!! Setting a good example for my grandkids and my daughter, feeling good, less pain, kind of happy in my own skin (sometimes) Not feeling like I am the biggest person in the room (sometimes) I am working on this!! And like you I am a past Horseback rider!! I might try it again. Now if only my mind catches up with my weight loss things would be so much better. I hope it will come. CONGRATULATIONS on your upcoming WLS!!! -

I can repeat several of the others NSV's! 1. Went shopping this weekend and bought several things in the regular women's department, not 'woman'. Wearing XL shirts now, all the dresses in the plus sizes were too big. 2. Clothes are cheaper in the regular department - saved $4 at Kohl's on the same exact shrug, only in a smaller size (and it fits better!) 3. Feel better all around. 4. Haven't had soda since surgery and feel most proud of that. 5. Smile a lot more, because I know I look better. 6. Easier to make good food choices when it doesn't look so hopeless. Kristen

I am more of a lurker here, but thought I'd post some of my NSV's and weight loss. I was banded on 9/30/05, I have two fills and I've lost 41 lbs. A big NSV I had today was I went to Sam's Club and bought a size 16 capri pant without trying them on. Got home and they are too big, I have to take them back for a 14, woo hoo. I am noticing more size loss than poundage loss. I have a hard time mentally with the fact that I am not losing more pounds, but when I try clothes on, that mental struggle goes away. I like to hear all the positive stories from everyone.

Hi all, after seeing quite a few pictures from (Before & After) thread and (NSV photo) thread I noticed the need to start a thread to show the ladies breasts before and after the band. I think it would be a great source of info since we can get a clear picture of how breasts reacts to weight loss, and in the same time it would be a great chance for ladies to show off their most valuable asset to our community. Regards, Magic

Today I was able to comfortably fit into a misses 16 pants. Horray for me!!!! BUT tonight when I went shopping for more new clothes I realized that I have no idea how to shop for regular size clothes. If that makes any sense?? I wandered around the clothing department looking at clothes thinking, I'll never be able to wear those and when I picked them up and mentally sized them up I didn't believe that I could wear them or that they could possible look good on me. I know it's a mental thing from years and years of never being able to shop for cute clothes because they did not make them in plus sizes. Also, I am finding that most of the clothes are made for younger girls with out sagging underarms and boobs! Where are the clothes with sleeves that cover my saggy arms!! I still want clothes that cover my older body. I was mainly looking for pants for work and while I realize that it is almost summer, how about some long pants instead of capri's and short shorts. I don't mean to grouch because I'm thrilled to be in smaller sizes, but I need adult styles. Anyone else with this problem?? :scared2:

Disneyland NO SEATBELT EXTENDER!

WONDERFUL! I just got back from Paris Disney where everything is teeny tiny, and I could also fit comfortably into everything. Best sort of NSV are the ones that let you enjoy the magic too! -
What NSV do you hope for post op?
Shylarose replied to Kelly84's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So, here I am, just a few days shy of 9 months post-op. Some of my favorite NSVs have been a surprise to me. Here are my favorites: 1. Having to buy new shoes. Who knew your feet would shrink. 2. Running a 12 minute mile. I hate running, but I had to try...just because I could now run. 3. Not having to expend mental energy every time I go to sit, stand, bend over, or any other physical activity I used to have to think about before doing it. 4. Being told by my Primary Care doctor that she didn't need to see me every 4 months any more, but just twice a year as I am now considered to be a healthy person with no issues. 5. Having a group of Firemen flirt with me in the grocery store. I looked behind me, because I was certain they were talking to someone over my shoulder. =) Seriously, at 50 this is quite the NSV. 6. sleeping through the night and waking up with energy. Loving my sleeve and so glad I had the surgery. -
LSasha told me to come here......I have on a top today that my sister gave me last year and I could not fit it then. This morning I wanted to wear something diffrent then my usual blouses that have gotten a little bigger. So I tore I up my place looking for this white, wrap blouse which I found and had only wore once. I put it on and it is not the same becuase the boobs have gone south. I then found a pj set that is much looser then before, oh yeah I found a velvet night gown and yeah I was trying on all these things this morning at 5:15am when I should have been getting ready for work. LOL Anyhow my top is black with fringes on the bottom that swing and it is not a long top like a usually wear. So this is a daring NSV for me. YEAHHHHH ME:banana :banana :banana

Yeah for a "not so nsv", at least you got in thm.
