Sleeved August 26 but only 20lbs
laura4923 replied to del112's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved August 25th. Starting SW 210, CW 190. I'm 5'2. I have also lost 20# and have been at this weight for 2 weeks. I have stalled a couple times. When I do- I lose inches. I had a NSV yesterday. Went to the outlet mall to buy a couple bras and asked them to measure me. The girl told me I was a 40 C! I had been a 44 DD. I was certain she was wrong, no way was I going to be able to wear a C cup. Well- she was right!! I was doing a happy dance and thanked her at the checkout!!!! -
congrats, what a nsv. pick your obgyn well, hopefully with input from your nut.

@@lealor, I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and did it mostly with super intense exercise (and the grief from losing my dad unexpectedly). My decision to have WSL was largely because I loved working out and some of the things I like to do are difficult since I put on about 40 lbs. I was just cleared for strength training and yoga and have started back slowly. I don't have the strength or stamina that had in the past but I know I will get it back. Also, I love the endorphins and get addicted to them. Start out slowly and find things that make you happy and you enjoy. Pay attention to the NSV's such as muscle definition, increase in weight and reps; those are the things that kept me going.

Anyone else experience stomach gurgling when they tried a new food? I ate a bit of an apple today - skin off, small bites, chewed to mush - and when I swallowed it, it was like I'd put an alka seltzer in my stomach. It was gurgling! Anyone experience this? CJ NSV for the day: For the first time in a long time, I have less than 100 pounds to lose.

I am really starting to love these NSV's! They are the best ever! NSV 1: Went shopping yesterday because my work pants are too big (size 16) and ended up buying a size smaller (size 14)! The lady that works at the store said I could probably go down another size as well because if I continue to lose weight they will fit soon (size 12). I decided to stay with the 14 because the 12s were a little too snug for "work attire" - woop woop!! NSV 2: This is the best one yet! I had a funeral to attend to yesterday. A friends father passed away. Anyway afterwards I stopped at my husbands work (he works in a metal shop). He ended up not being there because he was out in the field working that day. Anyway his HR/Benefits person was the one to help me at the front desk. I just told her I was his wife and just dropped in to say hi, so it was no big deal. About 20 minutes after I left he called me and said that the HR/Benefits lady texted him and said, "You're wife is really HOT!!" I didn't believe him so I made him show me the text when he got home that night, it's true she really text him that. A little weird but it made my day! Some random lady I don't know telling my hubby how hot I am, hahaha.

Those NSVs you mentioned are more important than the number on the scale. Keep focusing on that, and you'll get past this little detour soon enough. Remember..this is not a linear journey. It's full of ups and downs...two steps forward/one step back. Just don't obsess or lose your momentum. -
@@CJ Porter That is awesome !!! Thank you for sharing your NSVs !! You know ... I have an Aunt CJ ( Connie Jean ) and when I saw your profile and picture I had to do a double take ... You two could be twins!!!

That's amazing! Congratulations on all of your victories! For me, NSVs include clothing sizes going down (from 28 in jeans to 24), more energy, and less medication. Had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and he's very happy with my progress. My GP gave me a big hug because she was so happy for me and said I seemed so much more positive. I'm starting to look forward to my walks (HUGE victory there!) and I won't skip Water aerobics for anyone! I've got a great counselor who is helping me work through all of my emotions... Well, that list could go on and on. I really do feel like this was absolutely the right decision for me! CJ

This is a huge NSV for me. I've always had big feet for a girl. Kind of embarrassed about it especially because I'm only 5'6 ish. My brother used to make fun of me and call me Saskwatch!! So mean ???????????? Anyway, at a size 9.5 my feet were already above average. When I gained weight, they grew to a size 10.5!!! ????????????????. Almost 11!! Oh. My. God. The horror!! Anyway. I've lost 130 pounds. And I now wear a size 9!!!!! Yes!!!! Thank you vsg for saving my feet. And no foot pain either!! What did your feet do?

Ok last night I took my sons to JCP for new jeans and as I was checking out the "bold" salesgirl says "Now we have the kids covered, what's Mom gonna do about those sagging pants she's wearring?" I just laughed. Haha. Yep I'm 6 weeks postop and down 44 lbs. Time to invest some $$ in myself. (Just a little). No doubt this is soooo worth it all. Love it!!

One month out and I'm in Onderland today!! Down 41 pounds since preop diet, 27 pounds since surgery day. I am feeling good. Many NSV's also. I was real skeptical that anything would ever work for me but that is changing. I am feeling good enough to exercise and am really making progress with that also. Thanks to all on this site for ideas, information, encouragement and support.

Today is my one year surgiversary. I have lost 115 pounds and no longer on cpap, bp meds, and my A1c is normal. I would have never realized that have normal body fat at 22%. I went from a 48 waist down to a 34. This journey has been awesome. Yes, I had some "panic" moments where my weight went up a few pounds but was able to continue the weight loss and made my goal weight in about 6 months. Being on Maintenance is a bit harder that when in the loosing phase. My goal weight was 195 and this week I am holding at 182 - 184. I am looking forward to many more NSV's.

NSV: People are finally starting to notice my weight loss. It's like one day I get 5 different compliments from different people telling me how great I look! Even though I still struggle "seeing" it myself, my clothes don't lie, and when other people start noticing it makes me feel on top of the world. Being referred to as "skinny" even though I'm far from it, I haven't heard that in 8+ years.

Besides the poses everyone else has already mentioned, I also took some of my hands. Specifically showing how far down my finger I could put on some rings that no longer fit. One of those rings that I couldn't get past the knuckle on the before pic, fits perfectly now, even so early out. But without the aid of that pic I would have sworn that I've lost no weight in my hands. It's a great motivator and NSV in one.

Umm no! I have a small Volvo and he has a big Dodge Ram truck with huge Windows. That's the equivalent of being in the open. Old Mr Myers next door would have a heart attack and he's barely hanging on as it is! I'm too much of a chicken sh*t to drive off somewhere because as soon as I do you will see me on the 9 o'clock news either A) murdered by Jason or
arrested for indecent exposure! I barely leave the house...I'm too kidnappable these days!!

Okay, life has been pretty weird lately. Do you ever go through phases where everything you touch just turns to crap? Well... last few days have been like that. Not one single thing was disasterous, but it was like a series of unfortunate events - ha! Really kinda got me down for a bit there. Seriously This is a partial list of the crap that has happened to me in the last 1-2 days: -vacuum stopped sucking -internet started sucking - damn brand new router just restarted itself at random and with some frequency (I work from home and really need reliable internet!) -Vet called in wrong scrip for my ancient dog (end of life pallitive care) and I had to beg pharmasist to give us enough pills for a few days until we could get scrip. -Had to wait forever for said pharmacist -Old dog couldn't get up Monday morning - I had to lift him so he could stand to go potty... poor old man, it breaks my heart! - and the worst... I sold my beautiful beautiful young horse to a new owner because I have had some health problems that prevent me from giving her what she needs. (like alot of blonde bombshells, she is high maintenance). I actually hired a trusted trainer to sell her and screen the buyer so she went to a home where her talents would be appreciated and her negatives would be managed... I disclosed EVERYTHING about this horse. The buyer turned out to be evil, and not even 2 weeks later is reselling her for way more money and the ad is packed full of lies. She is saying this horse is beginner safe and she is NOT. I am sick about it, what if someone is hurt? What if my beautiful horse is hurt? Anyway... here is the point of my post. I didn't turn to food even though I felt pretty frustrated and sad and even angry. Especially about my horse.

How do you stay motivated during a stall?
butterfly23 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd love to hear how people stay motivated during a stall. I have been in one for about 3 weeks and was doing well and just focusing on my Protein and Water until the last few days. I am so tired of seeing the same number on the scale (I know, put it away already!) Plus, has anyone else noticed how a stall always seems to occur around milestones when you just cannot wait to get to the next number? A few months back I posted a thread on embracing slower than expected weight loss http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/345678-benefits-of-losing-weight-slower-than-expected/ and I keep wondering if this is my karma coming back to me to see if I can walk my talk. Anyway, besides changing up my diet/exercise and focusing on NSVs and other benefits, I was wondering if others have tips for staying motivated during a stall. Thanks in advance for sharing.
