  1. I would potentially "think" so? But have no proof of that. Some say being in keto makes things go faster also, but again--no proof. I do know my ketometer (breath) shows when I'm getting benefits cuz it finally starts going up--while blood glucose is going down. When I'm eating poorly, or eating big meals, then it goes pretty low (.10-.15). Mine never gets over 1 though. And that's fine by me!
  2. Has anyone had issues with the majority of carb based food intolerances? It seems like the farther out from surgery I am, the more issues with even tiny amounts of carbs I have. Things like rice (white or brown, literally 1-2tbs), pasta (protein, reg, or veggie based) any type of bread being keto and high fiber or regular old whole wheat, oatmeal, or most crackers cause me to vomit or get the “foamies” very quickly. I did not vomit one time until I started my Whole Foods/normal diet. I can tolerate some potatoes, and crackers (wheat thins for some reason in particular). I always eat these with protein and lower fats and never had any issues prior to surgery or food allergies. My calories are in the 850-950 range and I get 80-100g of protein a day, I do not have my carbs low enough to be in ketosis. I tolerate almost all proteins very well from fish to beef to dairy. The only exception being lean ground beef patties and some chicken breast preparations. Veggies are also tolerated well as well as fats.
  3. ** I HAVE NOT BEEN SLEEVED YET ** I am just researching different types of Protein shakes for post-op. I was on a ketogenic diet which did wonders for me. I relied on Keto Chow as a meal substitute, and I can honestly report that nearly every flavor I tried was delicious. Just like melted milk shakes but the net carbs were under 4 grams per serving. I still have two weeks worth of supply (they are a bit pricey--about $10 a day). Each shake has about 27 grams of protein and is about 400 calories per shake. The only downside I see is that you have to MCT Oil and heavy cream to make it nutritional rounded: that is to say, consuming three shakes met all of your nutritional needs per day. I am not sure if the heavy cream (which adds fat--key to keto) would be a bad thing post-op. Here's the nutritional label for the shakes: (hopefully linking is allowed) https://www.thebairs.net/2015/03/label-all-the-things/ Are these good to go?

  5. Last night’s Restaurant Menu Item/choice : “Keto Cobb Salad” : Romaine heart + cherry tomatoes + bacon + cheese crumble + cucumber + egg + 1/2 an avocado + grilled chicken + “Keto Green Goddess” dressing (which I am in love with now, btw) ...also shared a charcuterie board with my dinner companions, but forgot to take a pic of it...

Ok, MickeyD, move over! There's a new sheriff in town! LOL. This might become my favorite breakfast meal! I give you the mcchaffle breakfast sammy: I over toasted it in the pan when I was reheating it. My bad. But it still tasted delish!!! I took this girl's version of the chaffle and changed it to my standard where I use ACV and baking powder in it and spices like onion and garlic powder. Cuz I think it adds to the flavor. Only 54cals and 3 net carbs per chaffle! Each recipe makes 4 mini chaffles or 2 large chaffles. This breakfast included 1oz of grape tomatoes. But you don't have to add them. Also, you can poach a single egg, I just added 15g of egg whites to make it thicker and add a little more protein to it. Here's Keto Rewind's version of the Chaffle Recipe. Really incredibly waffle-like! And here are my ingredients. I just mixed everything together with a fork and then divide it up into 4 mounds and cooked each mound for 2 minutes. I didn't grease my mini chaffle maker. I divided the 56g of mozzarella into 28g of mozzarella in two. Half goes into the batter per the link above, and have gets divided up between the 4 chaffle batters to sprinkle the extra cheese to make it crispy on the outside. Here are my ingredients:

@GreenTealael I think your vegan at home would appreciate this meal (even with the brand of tofu I used labeled as chicken in Baritastic 😂). If I had eaten it all it would’ve been 412 calories, 20g protein, 20g carbs with 7g of fiber, and a whopping 30g of fat which seems fitting as I got the recipes from a vegan keto cookbook (the recipes are delicious!) I might eat more of it later as I’m probably only sitting at 600 calories total for the day. 😞

Yes, it will be on the site--if I can ever figure out how to configure it. LOL! I'm working on it. So you can use any size waffle maker. You just center the chaffle in the middle of your machine. You can get them used at GoodWill or Thrift Stores for about $10. You can order this from Amazon for $9.99 https://amzn.to/2GVCDU7 The batter/dough is very thick and sticky. They need to be pressed out and thinned to crisp up. So I don't think they would work as pancakes. But here is a recipe for my silver dollar pancakes that works well. Here's the biscuit mix recipe that you make ahead and store: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-biscuit-mix-low-carb/ Then here's the pancake recipe: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-silver-dollar-pancakes-low-carb-gluten-free-options/ And here's another one: https://fluffychixcook.com/psylli-pumpkin-spice-pancakes-low-carb-induction-inspired-gluten-free/

Keto coconut/pysllium flour tortillas/wraps (I posted the video a few pages ago, but@FluffyChix may have pioneered the recipe in her blog years ago I think remember her saying correct me if I'm wrong) L. I. S. T. E. N. Many may not know this but I absolutely can not handle bread after my RNY conversion. NBD. didn't really eat much any ways except once a year and a small piece during kiddush I digress... So I decided to try this alternative yesterday and because of this fiber filled monster, I was FULL FOR HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS 😳 (I ate about 1/3 of it) Oh the Salmon Croquette may have helped 😂 So yesterday I basically only had chia pudding and this 😒

💚 I'll do a low carb/Keto version again soon w/ Lettuce as the wrap 💚
  11. Gentle reminder that just because something is KETO, doesn't mean it may be something one would want add to one's diet when in weight loss phase. Case in point: Keto Sans Rival Cake (cashew meringue layered with french buttercream and chopped cashews). I just free-handed the meringue layers so they look kinda wonky. Next time I'll use a form or pan, or maybe a piping bag... My slice pictured below, and even with using a zero-calorie sweetener, it still measured out at 205 calories (about the size of small-ish lime). Ate it all.

Here's my cornbread recipe. It won a throwdown on YouTube. I have 2 recipes: I prefer this one: https://fluffychixcook.com/low-carb-keto-induction-cornbread/ But this one is a micro version that's super easy: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-cornbread-low-carb-keto-gluten-free/
  15. YUM YUM YUM. I've recently admitted that cookies (and ice cream) are my kryptonite. So I love me some low-carb cookie recipes. Now gotta go out and find some tapioca flour and try these out...thanks! Edited to add: just did a quick google on tapioca flour and learned its not so very keto-friendly. Found suggestions to replace with almond flour 1:1 (or xanthan gum). Sooooo...no need to wait to go shopping for the tapioca flour! Going to make these this afternoon

Cinnamon Spice Almost Keto Pancake 2 tbsps coconut flour, 2 tbsps wheat flour, 2 tbsps water, 1 tbsp milk, 1 egg, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp sugar substitute, dash of salt and spices. Bigger than it looks so I ate ~1/5 and gave the rest away. I could not find a decent recipe builder to accurately give me cals for this so I'm estimating 300 cals. Rant: I officially hate coconut flour. It's too hard to work with. I have wasted so much on failed attempts. I usually have almond flour which is a lot more forgiving, but I ran out.

Let me introduce you all to the many ways I’ve eaten eggs this past week. 😂 I was feeling a little heavy so wanted switch up my diet back to keto (which has worked for me in the past) and decided on a slightly modified egg fast to get back into things. Lost 7lbs of water weight in 4 days. Eggs with avocado (my modified one a day veggie choice) and feta, hard boiled eggs with mayo and hot sauce (not pictured), snickerdoodle cream cheese egg crepes, scrambled eggs with cheese, hard boiled eggs and chipotle mayo, a pizza chaffle moth marinara (my modified one a day veggie choice), garlic bread? ( this recipe needs work but the flavor was good), the recipe called it a crustless quiche (with mayo added), mini lemon cheesecakes (these were SO good!), and then cloud eggs with homemade hollandaise (these were just ok). Annnd what I ate for breakfast this morning was these reverse scotch eggs.

Yes, I have for the most part, waited until I'm close to Goal #3. I still won't do this very often. Even though mine are very LC. Here are the instructions from my old blog--this bariatric recipe is modified a little bit. http://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-biscuits-owl-low-carb-gluten-free/

Tastes do change for some people. But kudos for trying new things! I'll look up more savory Keto/low carb baked goods for the winter and test them out.
  22. I am now 1 month and 2 days out from surgery. Down about 25 lbs. Now that i am on solid food, I find myself eating smaller portions as chicken and beef fill me up so quickly. I was bad and tested out tortilla and bread. My body did not like it. Did not like it AT ALL. But that's ok. I don't need them anyway. Considering trying out the Trim Healthy Mama or Keto diet. I see my nutritionist on the 7th so I will broach with her. Not sure which one fits me better though. I want something I can maintain for life.

yes, key....maintain for life! Hope you find it hon. Congrats on your loss so far too. That's awesome!

I agree. Figure out the lifestyle that you are happy with and can sustain long term.

  23. I just finished my 5 month pics/measurements. I am only 6 pounds away from Onderland!! Hopefully I can hit that by the end of month 6. I can't really see a difference between these pics and last months, but, my measurements tell me I have lost 5" from my waist.

On a side note... I saw the doc for my GB results yesterday, I have stones and sludge, and a fatty liver. 😒 The best diet for a fatty liver is the keto diet, so this month I will be working towards eliminating sugar, white flour, and fried items from my diet.

YAY!! 6#'s is really close!! Are you thinking of getting your GB taken out? Easy Peacy for me. I was 24 when I had mine removed. Good Luck

    2. Ldyvenus

      Ldyvenus

I was totally gungho for getting it removed, but someone on BP mentioned that having it removed causes weight gain. I haven't had any episodes since the first one either, that pain is terrible. I have been referred to a surgeon, and I guess in the mean time, I will do a little more research on pros and cons.

  24. 6/5  - Still doing my Keto Diet. It is working. I am very proud of sticking to it.

6/6 - Went to the surgeon for a 2 month followup. I weighed in at 213.4 lbs. He was very happy at my progress and the way I am healing. He said that amount of weight loss is amazing. I went to get my blood work done to make sure that my vitamins and nutritional intake is great.

6/7 - Had a Glazed Donut. It was the best Donut I have ever had. I THREW IT UP within 10 minutes. I needed to do it to myself. I was starting to slowly eat something I was not supposed to so I just gave in and now that I know I cannot have it. I feel better.

I have a few freinds that are doing the KETO DIET. They are doing great. Most of them have had WLS. My hubby tried his hardest to do Keto but the meal plan, was to prep the food form the part of the week. We were set up with recipes for that week. But he really didn't care for the food. I DON'T care for leftovers so I didn't even try it. But I think it is a great program for sure. I have heard and seen lots of peeps doing great on it. Good Luck

      Sleeve1stFitNext

Yeah. With keto you really have to meal prep and since I am lazy and like to just roll and go, I can eat left overs for days. It saves me money when it comes to outside food too. Thank you. I am trying.
