Lost too much weight - ha ha
KellyL replied to 2BSkinny's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is a cool NSV really, and I think a lot of it has to do with the way we seem to lose weight. The scales don't drop for some of us but we're losing inches galore so we think we're not really getting small enough to be able to fit in way smaller clothes yet. My scales seem stuck but my clothes still seem to get looser all the time. haha The other thing is losing faster than we've ever lost weight in the past. It's really difficult for the brain to catch up sometimes lol. So you're absolutely right, we need to get in the habit of trying on our closet clothes fairly regularly! Thanks for the reminder! Congrats! -
Hi everyone, I've not been keeping up on the tread and just read everything that has been posted since Sept 1. I am 2 lbs from my Sept challenge (next week is deadline for me) and seem to be stuck! Ugh! I think it comes off 5 lbs at a time and the last 5 came off my boobs I'm sure. I did have a great NSV last weekend. I went on my first carnival ride in over 12 years! The man loading people onto the ride didn't even look at me like I wouldn't fit, the harness went over my head and locked down on me with room to spare. It was the funnest ride I've had in like, forever! Keep up the great work everyone, I wish we had updates from everyone who was chatting in April/May. Maybe they will find their way back.

How did you document your weight loss journey?
Dr-Patient replied to MisforMimi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I WISH I'd taken many pictures before surgery, but I only had a few. I'd suggest definitely taking some photos now, before WLS. See post here: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/310322-are-you-pre-wls-take-pictures-now/. I also wish I'd taken measurements pre-op. My first measurements were 2 weeks post-op. Do it now as a baseline. --I only post and read messages here at BP. --I keep a small [5.5" x 7.5"] notebook on my bathroom countertop and I weigh every day, or every other day, and record numbers in columns: Date/POD#/Wt. At the end of each month's mark (my surgery was Dec 4th), I might tally my weight loss for that month. Oh, that notebook has my SW and date noted somewhere in the beginning. Also, on the back pages of the previous logging page, I sometimes have notations about [whatever--NSVs; potato chips I ate; how much I "danced, and wow, look," etc.] So the notations are opposite the page for the curent weights/dates. --Every month (or two), I measure myself: Neck, breasts, waist, abdomen, hips, rt/lft thigh. And just last week I added measurements of my ankle and a wrist. I want to see the tally of pounds and inches at one year. -
Hello my friends, Been nursing DH today. He was dethatching the lawn yesterday but I guess caught some bug. He started with the shivers this morning with no fever, then threw up and then the fever. Seems to be doing better now but, man we're nervous with the TripleE around here. He hasn't thrown up again and his fever is in check so we're doing well. He's watching his NASCAR race now (bet Betty is too hee hee). I tried to get some chicken soup in him earlier and he did well with it but, he hasn't been hungry for supper. Just trying to be a good nurse Hmmm now if I had a uniform it might help change his mood lmao sorry couldn't help it lol. He is doing better though I think I got everyone with my personal email addy but, if I missed ya and you'd like it please PM me and I'll give it to you. I'd love it if we all kept in touch should something happen to the website. Seems the hacking and weekend shutdowns have me nervous. Hopefully the fighting will stop soon...such silliness and man they get so nasty :girl_hug: So sad that they've forgotten what this website is truly for and how much it's helped us all. Oh well enough about that. Cindy - Thank you for the compliment. I think it might be sinking in that I'm doing well. I truly didn't see it in my picture but, for the first time on Friday at work....I saw something. I went into the ladies room and while washing my hands I looked at myself in the mirror (Gosh I hate to do that lol) and saw something. My mind finally allowed me to see a smaller girl. I looked at my hips and tummy and saw it......finally thought "wow....you have lost girl....more to go but, it's really showing". I guess that's a NSV for me...I've never said that to myself before. Anywho...thank you for all you did to help me get here The food suggestions have helped alot. I really do need to slow down, cut my Protein nice and small and I do much better. All the things I knew to do but didn't until ya reminded me lol Mandy - WELCOME girl! Any friend of Cindy's is considered a friend of mine. Please feel free to ask any questions here including WHATS A PB lol. We won't get mad but if ya ask twice we might tell ya again but laugh hee hee. Just kidding. You'll find we all like to help each other and we all need each other. Your dog is adorable.....I have two Golden Retrievers. They're cute but Jake the 4 month old is cruisin big time. He chewed up my kitchen chairs....the seat of all things and they are oak. Mamma isn't happy with him right now. Apparently he did this while my son was home alone and not paying attention :girl_hug: Needless to say they were both in the doghouse Friday. Betty - God bless ya. I've seen your postings within some of the threads and it must be so hard with the Gripe catagory. I don't know if the catagory is being used properly, seems like it's nothing but trouble so I've been staying away from it. I got caught up in it when I was looking for New posts to see if I could help people. That dang curiosity sometimes does me in but, I keep my mouth or fingers shut. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing your best moderating here. It just can't be easy. Now......do you use a special smoker type thing for the meats? Its an outdoor thing right? Hows the foot? Mary - Hows it going? Seems like life is very busy for you! I do hope you've had time to pamper yourself a bit. Kat - Waiting to see those pics girl. I bet you see a big difference I'll be happy to help you get them posted if you'd like. How is DH doing today? Good idea with the email addys and anyone that wants to share mine with anyone here, it's ok with me. Chris - Sorry we couldn't get together today. I was looking forward to it but, I couldn't take the chance of you or Donna getting sick. No idea what DH has but he's feeling better Maybe we can make plans for next weekend or something How many days now? 30? Wahooo you're going to do sooo good with this I just know it! Pat - Thanks for letting us know about the hack thing with Eileen. I don't blame ya for being afraid to go there. My DH repairs computers so I know I'd get it fixed but, still I don't want to lose any information I have stored up on it lol. How are things going for you? Your new hire start yet? Ohhh I still have the one that doesn't balance her deposits with me and she hasn't improved getting to work on time grrrrrrrr. She's going to make me do it...I just know it UGH. Patty - How old is Channing? I remember my son going through some self esteem issues. Still not easy when it happens but, he's getting better with it realizing that sometimes it's not him but the kid that is making fun of him has a problem. Teenage years are so difficult sometimes. Good luck finding the help you want for him, I'm sure you're helping him a great deal too. He's lucky to have such a wonderful mom Eileen - Glad you got your computer up and running right. DH do that for a living? Sometimes these viruses and hackers really cause a great deal of mess. Thanks for getting the info to us through Pat. My luck I would of flopped right over it and allowed it into my computer as well. Minestrone soup....ahem...Greg's special soup....easy peasy to make! I'll give the recipe if ya want it If you have a can opener...you're golden with this recipe. No measuring cups needed either lol. It's even better after it sits in the refridge overnight and reheated the next day Bene - Hows the vacation going....you still on it? Hope all is well. love yas

Margo, that is AWESOME! CONGRATS ON YOUR NSV!
-
Congrats Margo!! What a great NSV!

I would count both of the kids' remarks as NSVs (non scale victories)! Agree on the fill I would never be able to eat more than about half of one and that's good for me!

It's been quite warm here for a few days, so for the past 3 days I've worn my comfy long flowing summer skirts. I've always avoided wearing skirts such as these, because without stockings, my thighs rubbed together and chafed something horrible - often to the point of bleeding. Well, for the past three days I've been the most comfy girl in the world LOL. My thighs haven't touched even once. I'm going to go out and get a couple more of these lil gems because they're just soooooooo easy to wear in the summer and now I can hehe.

Congrats! That is a great NSV!

I have been a shower taker rather than a bath taker for many years. Don't normally take the time for long, decandent soaks in the tub. Also, when we moved into our current house four years ago, I discovered I really didn't fit in our tub. Even though it was a large whirlpool tub - when I got in it with the correct amount of Water (so the water didn't go into the overflow drain) there were large (pun intended) parts of me that couldn't get under the water level. Not a relaxing expererience. And the bathroom has way to many mirrors that replicated the sight of my too large self not fitting into the tub. I think I took two baths in that tub in four years. Well, I took a long, luxurious soak this afternoon. ALL PARTS OF ME fit under the water level! It was wonderful. I loved it! Needless to say - no pictures with this NSV. :-)

1 Month Bandiversary - 35 lbs
Bullink replied to fashionstylist's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Looking great! I am 31 lbs loss so far and two days away from my 1 month bandiversary and having a lot of NSV as well! I am training for a 5k as well as light weights to increase my muscle tone and hopefully keep as much of the sagging skin away as possible! Lots of water and lotion! Keep up the good work!! -
So as of today I am almost 3 months out from VSG and I have lost 55lbs. Today is Christmas and things are very different this year, for the first time in my life I didn't overeat into misery at Christmas dinner, I have stayed well within my nutritional goals for the day, and (here's a big one for me) I came home and worked out when we got back from the family gathering I have never ever done that before. For me today was a few big NSVs that made the holiday all that much more enjoyable! ???? On the left was at my all time highest weigh, middle was at surgery, and right was a few weeks ago.

Cerrin, I know the feeling...I've had dates with two guys in the past month because of my new found confidence. This is so cool! I didn't think of that being an NSV, what was I thinking. My last date prior to this was a blind date 5 years ago.
-
again a stupid question about the terms! what is NSV?
-
Thanks Ann. NSV = Non Scale Victory - a celebration of all those little things that come with losing weight, apart from seeing the numbers move on the scale (eg new clothes, being able to tie your shoe laces and breathe at the same time, etc). Size 10 eh? Whoohoo! Congrats! I'm sure that feels WONDERFUL!
-
Oh wow! That's a big NSV!! Good for you!! You should feel very proud of yourself.

Hey...If The Shoe Fits!
Tiffykins replied to BZButterfly79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD NEWS ! ! ! Feet shrink too. At least mine have, and they've shrunk tremendously. I wore a solid 8-8.5W pre-op, today I wear a comfortable 7 (normal width). I think the only reason I need an 8-8.5 is because my foot was wide like a wooden boat, I also have flat feet, with a high instep so to squeeze my "Fred Flintstone" feet, as my lovely husband calls them (how I'd like to strangle him), into decent shoes I needed the extra length to accommodate the fatness of my feet. One of my most profound NSVs: Being able to see all the tiny bones in my feet, and to have space in between my toes without spreading out my toes. I had little sausages for toes, now their boney and I actually have toenails that look good polished LOL ! ! ! -
How did you decide on a goal weight?
Jachut replied to tonyahebert's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've got a funny story for you about that. I nearly had a punch up with an old bat at weight watchers once, she was doing the weighing and measuring. She told me I was 5ft 9. I'm not, I'm 5ft 10. I didnt like being called 5ft 9 becuase it meant I was even more overweight than I thought I was, lol. So I made her remeasure me. 5ft 9. Six freaking times, same answer, 5ft 9. So I was fatter and shorter than I thought. Great. Anyway, I assumed I'd shrunk an inch. Getting obese had compressed my spine or something. Anyway skip forward to a few years later and there I am in the surgeon's office having my first official weigh and measure. 5ft 9. Six months later, another weight and measure and WTF? I'm 5ft 10 again. I started rabbiting on about NSV's and said what a great health benefit, I've uncompressed my spine. No, love, she says (we call each other Love here). When you're at your heaviest you have a big bum. You cant stand straight against the wall to be measured because of your bum, nearly everyone leans back slightly. You havent grown, your bum's just not in the way of the wall anymore! ROFLMAO! Now if THAT isnt an NSV I dont know what is. -
Almost 1 month out-I went to the GYM today!!!
