It's absolutely qualified for NSV. And I have also experienced this phenomenon. And also? I love Grey's Anatomy and thought of the show immediately when you said "Ladie's Town". LOL

  7. So I debated posting about this.. but I was in such awe over this, and I think only my fellow female WLS peeps can appreciate this. (And i'm grown, married, blah, blah, blah...). Hubby and I were having some special time. Off he went to "lady town" (Grey's Anatomy fans should get that). And I realized... I can *see him*. My stomach was not blocking my view of him. For the slightest second it seemed awkward cause, I've just never had that full view before. It was a serious, momentary, mind trip! So...NSV qualified, or too risque?
  8. Two words: breast cancer. Well, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Now that I am close to my self-imposed goal, I have been thinking a lot on how to pay for a tummy tuck and new breasts. The arms would be nice too, but I can live with them. Last month a had my yearly mammogram and, long story short, found out last week I have breast cancer. It's in the very early stages, so I am sure I will have many, many years to enjoy my new, thin self, but what the @#$&! It did come as a blow. I have genetic testing today for the BRCA 1 and 2 gene -- if I have that, then for sure I need a double mastectomy and my ovaries removed. But the standard treatment for what they know I have now is lumpectomy and radiation. But the thing is, my big weight loss will make a lumpectomy risky -- to get big enough margins, they would have to take a lot out and I have very little breast tissue left! Even doing the biopsies was a challenge -- the hollow core needles were bigger than me! Who knew, under the obesity a very petite women was hiding! So, I am meeting with a plastic surgeon on Monday. Looks like I may have a double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. They said they would use my excess abdominal tissue. If I do that, I will not need radiation, which is a plus, but it is a much bigger surgery. I asked if this would be a true tummy tuck and they said yes. I'll get more info on Monday, but maybe this is the silver lining in a very dark cloud. I will also add a NSV here. Since all this started on Sept 29th, I have stuck to my healthy eating plan. I was very tempted to bury myself in a loaf of bread or, "gasp", bagels (my former nemesis), but I'm staying true to myself. I've waited all my life to enjoy this new body - I'm not going to backslide now. I have to be extra careful -- after the surgery, there will have to be a long hiatus from they gym. Ellen

    Bummed and angry

You can still go out and have fun. You can eat the same foods as you did before, just less frequently for certain ones and for all, in smaller portions. Any day you are on the green side of the grass is going to be a lot more fun than the other choice. You can't order any "super-size" meals on the dirt side. Look forward to all you will be able to do, the endless NSVs that will happen and your new happier, healthier and longer life you will have post bariatric surgery.

    NSV shout outs

My closet was full of black clothing at my larger size. Had to wear black today. I'm working at a funeral (NSV) I tuck in a shirt and was able to wear a belt.
  12. One positive I have done to help myself in a healthy way recently, I took the advice of my surgeon & I stopped weighing myself daily. I am trying to see my weight loss as NSV'S & not JUST A NUMBER ON THE SCALE like I always have. That has helped me in a big way, but of course then there is the visual part in the mirror I see daily. So being excited about my NSV have been HUGE for me.
  13. I so get it. It's those unexpected NSV's that help you see this is working.
  14. The Candidate

    OMG! NSV! NSV! ????????????????????????

The unexpected NSV's are still the best! Congrats!
  15. My hubby took me to breakfast this morning. We hardly eat out since surgery. I had on jeans ( MY FIRST NSV I HAD WEEKS AGO ) so I casually CROSS MY LEGS UNDER THE TABLE WITH JEANS ON!!!!!!!! AND I HAD ROOM BETWEEN THE TOP OF MY LEG & THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TABLE!!!!!!! I was in shock!!! I SAT there staring at my leg!! My husband asked me what was wrong, I told him I can't believe I just crossed my leg under the table comfortably with jeans on!! I have wanted to cry!!! I was so happy!!!!! I didn't want to leave the restaurant I was so excited I haven't done that in years!!!!!!!!
  16. I was sleeved August 25th. Starting SW 210, CW 190. I'm 5'2. I have also lost 20# and have been at this weight for 2 weeks. I have stalled a couple times. When I do- I lose inches. I had a NSV yesterday. Went to the outlet mall to buy a couple bras and asked them to measure me. The girl told me I was a 40 C! I had been a 44 DD. I was certain she was wrong, no way was I going to be able to wear a C cup. Well- she was right!! I was doing a happy dance and thanked her at the checkout!!!!

    Exercise 'guilt'

@@lealor, I lost a lot of weight a few years ago and did it mostly with super intense exercise (and the grief from losing my dad unexpectedly). My decision to have WSL was largely because I loved working out and some of the things I like to do are difficult since I put on about 40 lbs. I was just cleared for strength training and yoga and have started back slowly. I don't have the strength or stamina that had in the past but I know I will get it back. Also, I love the endorphins and get addicted to them. Start out slowly and find things that make you happy and you enjoy. Pay attention to the NSV's such as muscle definition, increase in weight and reps; those are the things that kept me going.
  19. Anyone else experience stomach gurgling when they tried a new food? I ate a bit of an apple today - skin off, small bites, chewed to mush - and when I swallowed it, it was like I'd put an alka seltzer in my stomach. It was gurgling! Anyone experience this? CJ NSV for the day: For the first time in a long time, I have less than 100 pounds to lose.

    NSV x's 2

I am really starting to love these NSV's! They are the best ever! NSV 1: Went shopping yesterday because my work pants are too big (size 16) and ended up buying a size smaller (size 14)! The lady that works at the store said I could probably go down another size as well because if I continue to lose weight they will fit soon (size 12). I decided to stay with the 14 because the 12s were a little too snug for "work attire" - woop woop!! NSV 2: This is the best one yet! I had a funeral to attend to yesterday. A friends father passed away. Anyway afterwards I stopped at my husbands work (he works in a metal shop). He ended up not being there because he was out in the field working that day. Anyway his HR/Benefits person was the one to help me at the front desk. I just told her I was his wife and just dropped in to say hi, so it was no big deal. About 20 minutes after I left he called me and said that the HR/Benefits lady texted him and said, "You're wife is really HOT!!" I didn't believe him so I made him show me the text when he got home that night, it's true she really text him that. A little weird but it made my day! Some random lady I don't know telling my hubby how hot I am, hahaha.

    Classic case of over confidence...

You've got this!!! And WTG on all those NSVs!!!!
  23. Those NSVs you mentioned are more important than the number on the scale. Keep focusing on that, and you'll get past this little detour soon enough. Remember..this is not a linear journey. It's full of ups and downs...two steps forward/one step back. Just don't obsess or lose your momentum.
