Another December 9th sleever here. Heading into the TMI area. I feel like I'm in bondage, Left arm has blood pressure and Left hand has IV. Right Finger has oxygen sensor, and Right wrist has 3 hospital bracelets, Nose has oxygen tube in each nostril. Legs have cuffs to prevent blood clots. Stomach has the bandages and I have a drain. Got my pain pump, and call button, and other room controls. Have my laptop and phone plugged in. Whew. And I have had to pee... a lot,so every time I have to go, I have to get unhooked from it all. Plus it takes forever to actually start going. I also Nurse game me omeprazole thru IV and that's generated lots of burping. Able to have ice chips but if I over indulge I get nauseous. Over indulge being about 15 ice chips. And I'm HUNGRY. That scares me, thought the hunger would be gone. Oh yeah, my scalp is itchy and dry. On the plus side my little cheats (the chicken and carrots in my "broth". The few ounces of turkey with a tablespoon each of potato, stuffing, squash and cranberry sauce. The 1/2 scrambled egg at lunch the day before surgery.. Those cheats did not come back to haunt me. I have a private room, Moving over to the post surgery threads, but wants to let you folks know it wasn't that bad. My complaints are all minor compared with my health issues due to obesity. Soooooooo glad to have done this. Good luck everyone, and see you on the other side~ Moving to the loser's bench. Can't wait till you join us there. Going back to sleep as soon as the nurses do their thing.

In Need Of Support

I was wondering about the whey allergy possibility also but I tolerated it just fine for my 2 week post op. I was thinking also possible lactose intolerance since I am suppose to mix it with skin milk but I have been tolerating small amounts of yogurt just fine. It's weird the Protein I am suppose to be using is called Beneprotein. It comes in a can similar to baby formula. It mixes smooth with out clumps but-------- TMI warning---- when I throw up it comes up in curds yuck!---- They decided to do a CT . The tech came in to try and get me to drink 3 white foam cups worth of contrast in 1 1/2 hours I looked at her like she was insane when she tried to mix it with sprite and have me drink it through a straw. I argued with her round and round for like 10 minutes she kept saying just drink as much as you can pushing the fizzing drink at me and I kept telling her I was going to rupture my staple line and asking her if she knew what a gastric sleeve was. I told her I hadn't taken in that much liquid at one time in over a week. I told her it takes me 20 minutes to drink one medicine cup full of Water and she wants me to drink this bubbly concoction! Uhhhh nope! Finally exasperated she walked out of the room and the doc had heard out exchange and she ordered IV contrast and let me pass on the full foam cup shooters. So now I am waiting on results hooked up to a IV bag of fluids I begged for and finally got. Fingers crossed the results come in after I empty the bag! -

My opinion is that what you are feeling right now is pretty normal. It takes awhile. You have only been eating regular foods for a couple months. It was hard then. But hang in there, you will get to the point where it won't bother you in the least. You'll be able to eat most anything but you won't want a bunch of it and you will enjoy your food even more. I find for myself, I can eat anything but don't really want to eat a lot. I still love to eat and every once in a while I wish I could eat more but those episodes are fewer and further between. Hang in there, it does get easier. One of the motivations for me is I wake up every morning and before I get out of bed, I for lack of a better word, start feeling myself up! lol! I feel hip bones, curves, not bulges. Who knew I had hip bones? I even feel my boobies, they are getting smaller by the day! ( I want small ones) The changes in my body are enough to bound me out of bed and do my best to make good decisions! Sorry if the feeling myself up is TMI but I would bet just about anything I'm not the only sleeved who does that.

Indigo1991 replied to marfar7's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Marfar7, this is exactly how I lost weight, butt first! But as I got closer to target my boobs are now beginning to shrink and I can now wear the same size on top and bottom. First time I have done that in 25 years :-) But am still having a boob job to stop having to roll them up in my bra.... Sorry tmi lol -

Sooo... Tmi But Has Anyone Ever Had An Infected Belly Button?
endless80 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never in my life have, until now. Apparently, and please correct me if I am wrong but this seems to be common among folks who lose a lot of weight quickly. I'm actually bleeding from my belly button. The area around it is a little red but there isn't much discomfort. The discharge doesn't smell horrible so I don't think the infection is that bad. I've been cleaning it out multiple times a day. I don't have any fever or even as much discharge today that I had 2 days ago which is why I haven't been to see a doctor. Plus my doctor cannot work with my work schedule right now which is a little annoying. Anyways, if you've ever had an infected belly button... how did you get rid of it? -

Had gastric bypass 11/11/13 went home and something wasn't right, went through hell and back to finally be admitted to the hospital were I went into a coma for 4 days, had 2 blood transfusions and had to stay in the hospital until I learned how to walk talk and semi eat.... Although through all that time all I ate was ice chips... I was released home a day before thanksgiving.... Thanksgiving passed and I had a slice of apple & sucked on an orange (but didn't eat it) I guess I experienced dumping & dehydration that night because I was super cold, dizzy, couldn't walk, nausea, (threw up a little blood) and diarrhea (so I thought) while in bed I couldn't get up so I super soiled myself with what I thought was poop (sorry TMI) but it was more blood than poop... husband called doctor & confirmed it was dumping (although the blood wasn't explained) .... Days have passed and I've been too scared to eat I've been drinking Water only... My body started experiencing body aches... And it's been harder to move... That's my story so far... I'm writing because I just feel like my body wanted to give up... I'm scared of well dying... Nobody understands me because they don't feel the feeling I have inside... I keep having dreams of it happening... I'm scared and have no one to talk to its weird how I'm feeling I hope I'm super wrong and this fear of eating goes away... I just needed to vent and share my story ..

5 Months Out. Need Advice.
Queen of Crop replied to kaseyTN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This has happened to me as well, twice....once was right after being sleeved and they had to give me antibiotics, and one a year later. This might be TMI, but I know how I got mine so I will share.....it seems that every grown woman should know this, but I didn't know it until I was in my late 20's. I got them because I didn't wipe myself properly (from front to back). The first one was in the hospital and I had to drink the stuff that makes you clean yourself out, so it was a little messy and most likely some of the feces got into my UI tract. The second one was after I had had some diareahea so again, you have to be very careful. They are so so painful. Anyway, ladies, always wipe from front to back only and if you are having a loose bowel, you must be extra careful. -
Surgery Is Monday And I Almost Backed Out Today
finsmama replied to finsmama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello, All, Sorry that I haven't replied for so long. Thanks for all of the support and comments. I did go through with my lap band surgery this past Monday. I got to come home Tuesday night. I feel like a human today as I got a shower and am clean, clean, clean! This first few days has not been easy by any means. I have had my fair share of nausea, gas pains, abdominal pain, and, did I mention, nausea?! I feel like I may have pulled one of my incisions, it is giving me a burning pain. I will just keep an eye on it for now. it has been difficult to get all of my fluids in, but I sure am trying. the hardest part post op has been not being able to pick up my 15 month old daughter. she has been crying for me to pick her "bup" but, she weighs 24 pounds, so that's not happening. breaks my heart. Question: anyone have problems with constant diarrhea (TMI!!) post op? Thanks! Finsmama -
So, I was so excited to get this surgery. It was going to be life changing and going to help me extend my life and the quality of it. I was so optimistic for once and so determined.. I had my surgery Oct. 1 and right off the bat I get some heart issues from my Vagus nerve being injured which makes my heart beat stay around 36-60 for the first 7 weeks with pvc's and I get a nasty Uti/kidney infection that won't clear because it's some super cell bad germ resistant to most medications and need IV infusions to clear it. Constipated right off the bat and so nauseous all the time. I am unable to drink the Proteins as I once did before. I was told don't bother with them for now, focus on drinking. Talk of a pick line is mentioned for hydration. The doctor is gonna decide when I go back. Whatever, things happen. I'm losing weight and I'm so happy and still optimistic that this is a speed bump. Fast forward 4 weeks post op and I'm still puking and if not puking on the verge 24/7 of puking, my stomach physically hurts when I eat or drink to the point that I am unable to do either barely. I feel like I have so much air in my pouch and it hurts. I'm taking multiple medications for nausea (3 to be exact), my prilosec, and pain medication as needed. I am told to stop my Vitamins for the time being because they are making me barf. I am told don't worry about the proteins still focus on drinking. Pooping is a really big problem still and I try to keep on it. I go like every 7-10 days with Milk of Mag. Talk of a pick line is mentioned for hydration but the doctor decides to wait a little longer. It's just a speed bump.. 7 weeks post op and now I have no energy. I never exercise and constantly hurt everywhere all over my body and still in my stomach anytime I eat or drink. The nausea is worse then ever and I am barely drinking most days.. I try but when I drink it hurts and cramps and I get so nauseous that it hardly seems worth it. I am still not taking vitamins and the only Protein I get is like 3 oz of food a day, so minimal at best. The doctor wonders if I have a leak or if it's my type 1 sphincter of oddi acting up and we schedule a Catscan of my stomach and blood work to rule out the leak or other surgery issues. There is mention of getting an endoscopy and fixing the sphincter of oddi with cauterizing and a stent but it needs to be at least 6 weeks further out otherwise I risk being seriously injured. I'm getting worried but hopeful that things are gonna be answered and fixed soon. 8 weeks post op I got impacted with stool 2x this week and got a fissure which is so terribly painful. My husband seems like he hates me and like I'm an inconvenience at this point. I'm getting really frustrated with the lack of support and empathy from him. I bleed so much earlier tonight and get stuck so I was sent to the hospital where let's just say it was humiliating and utterly painful... I got an enema, liquid laxative, a rectal exam, IV for severe hydration, an Xray, and blood work. I was informed again by my husband that this is my fault.. So now I am have kidney issues from not enough protein, need a GI to fix my fissure and impacted intestine issues that they are calling ileus from electrolyte imbalances and possibly something else underlying, need to take 3 more medicines to poop softer and hopefully at all, my muscles and joints hurts so bad all the time now, and I barely sleep. To say I feel defeated.. I feel like I am so unhealthy and like for the first time I regret this surgery.. I go to my surgeon at 9 to go over the Catscan, tests, and talk about the hospital results and get a new game plan..

and then... replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello everyone. I was sleeved yesterday and wanted to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I am still in the hospital, I just did my swallow study they said they didn't see and thing alarming. I am waiting on my doctor to read the results so I can start Clear liquids. Those moistened cotton swab things are just not doing the trick. I am in a lot of pain, which stinks. I had a hiatal hernia that the doc discovered and repaired during surgery. My pain is not a the incision sites it I above it on the right hand side. It is so painful tears come to my eyes when ever I have to sit or stand. I am staying another night due to the pain. This might be a little *** TMI so here is your chance to skip....okay last call......I am having a terrible time urinating it I like a 30-45 minute affair of staining and pushing down for a few drops at a time the doc said its a because of the morphine end TMI*** So long story short I am staying an extra night due to the extreme pain I am dealing with I am thinking and praying for everyone getting sleeved today as well as those who have already been sleeved -

Hi dyan:) yes I'm eating laughing cow wedges as well! Not ready for cottage cheese or eggs just yet. ..This may be TMI but I haven't pooped in 10 days:( I did a bowel prep with miralax before surgery and I've only been on full liquids so my surgeon wasn't too concerned but he said I could try miralax one dose if things get critical. .lol..have u been going through this? ? I've been sipping on prune juice all day and so far nothing! -
Omg, tmi but made laugh! It's the simple things that seem to give us greatest pleasure. Or maybe I should rephrase that ???? ha ha!

Hi all..sorry this is TMI but I'm still on full liquid diet and I'm 2 wks post op..i haven't pooped in 9 days:( is this normal on full liquids? My doctor told me to take miralax and I'm thinking I might try it today! Starting to worry now that I should be going to the bathroom by now! Anyone have any advice? -
The towel wrapping was great and satisfying. I also go down stairs normally. At my heaviest I was going down sideways which was something I remember my mom doing. And if its not TMI I can wrap my legs and cross my ankles around my husband now during sex. I can't believe I just said that! Posting quickly before I can erase..

First Post Op Post! Sleeved On 11-12-13
hopeliveshere posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello friends! Today is my first day back to work and my first POST op post! Tomorrow i am 3 weeks out. My surgery went very well, my surgeon said that my liver had shrunk down nicely The walked me into the OR and when i got on the table i suddenly began to cry out of fear. The next thing i remember is waking up in recovery. all in all i would say my recovery is going really well. I had horrible, terrible despicable gas pains for the first 2 weeks, the pains went all the way up to my shoulder and walking and gas x did not help not one bit. other than that i was only in the hospital overnight. I didnt have too much other pain, just more like discomfort and soreness. as of today i am down 28lbs so i am 229 now. I lost 15 on the preop and 13 since the surgery. i was a little disappointed with that, but i also did just get a visit from aunt flo yesterday (TMI) so im hoping thats the issue and that i havent stalled already. -
Probiotics For Constipation?
Chelenka replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a probiotic capsule every day. I think it helps. Lots of water, benefiber, a strong cup of coffee, chia seeds in your protein shake or yogurt, these have all helped. If all else fails a suppository ( sorry if that's TMI). -

December Surgeries!?!?!?
Birthsjourney replied to preopmano's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My bypass was done 11 days ago! The 6 month insurance hoops seemed forever to me also! Now that I am past it all ( doing amazing well at 64 years old) I am so glad that I did have all the nut meetings , & classes, test and Dr appts.. The knowledge gained is invaluable at these stage... And knowledge is powerful! My insulin has gone from 350 units down to 20.. Severe GERD resolved and off so many meds ( BP normal, heart rate normal). First week on only liquids was a bummer.. 6 days no BM THEN 5 days off endless runs (tmi) but knowing its normal was good! I had triple bypass.. Diabetes type 1 . Gerd so severe it was damaging my lungs! Wonder why I waited now! Also had a liver biopsy due to fatty tissue and a big belly hernia repaired then.. Could of looped a bowel if not repaired... You guys will be so happy you did this! I had doubts daily and even a few days after but WOW .. What a difference a week makes. Take a heating pad to hospital.. Really helped with carbon dioxide discomfort those first days.. ( and walk walk then walk some more) .. Best of luck to you all.. Be pumped up! Good positive attitude is important ! -
Hey friends... Sorry it took so long for a reply but I've felt like I've been hit by a semi. There were complications with my surgery. They weren't able to intubate me or use their balloon down my throat to create the pouch. They said that 2 nurse anesthetist and an anesthesiologist both tried and no one was able. They had to to do an internal approach to create the pouch and also fixed a hiatal hernia. I'm just in so much pain. I was able to pass gas. Lol. Still no BM. TMI. I had a moment yesterday. I was asking myself, "What did I just do". I was really regretting it. I'm sure it will pass.
