Hey all! I am doing very well, no complications. I actually almost don't believe they really did the surgery! LOL. My only gripe is that I seem to be losing much more slowly than anybody else on here. I lost about 10 lbs. since surgery day, including actual 2 pound fluctuations (some days I was up 1-2 pounds). I guess this is the dreaded and much talked about 2-3 week stall? I am being patient. I am amazed at how little I can eat and have been trying to make good choices, although I did cave yesterday and have some Peanut M&Ms. Interestingly enough, I lost weight even after that goof up. Anyway, I want to say thank you all so much for all of your support. It is so nice to have a specific group that had the procedure around the same time so that we can accurately gauge our progress/challenges against those that are at exactly the same stage as ourselves. I find it hard to relate to the "veterans" sometimes. Their reality it so far away from being mine. I can't even begin to discuss non-scale victories right now. It's too early. It's all about the scale. We are still skeptics at this stage. I need this sleeve to show and prove! :-)

Wait...shouldn't Calories Per Day For Weight Loss Still Work The Same As Pre-Op?
Lissa replied to jewelwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, muscle weighs more than fat, so you may actually be building muscle. Secondly, your body is still pushing out fluids from surgery. Third, you may still be in the 3 week stall. Mine lasted about 2 weeks. It's not something you can change. Your body needs time to adjust to having a smaller stomach and to the reduced amount you're eating. Fourth, if you're anywhere near TOM, you may be holding Water. No matter which one of the above is the cause, you'll probably see a whoosh in a few days where you lose a few pounds really quickly. But, right now, your body is shrinking, so you may notice the difference in your clothes before you see it on the scale. Good luck!! -
one week post op weight stall
magpie26 replied to connie123lok's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Like the others said, don't worry, your body is like WTH?! It takes some people longer to lose, or there can be a "dreaded 3 week stall" it happened to me at like 2.5 weeks, I've had 2 stalls in my 10 weeks out. I put my scale away and weigh myself once a week, if I have self control. I gained 10 pounds when I came back from the hospital. I'm now 10 weeks out and 49 pounds down (my clinic counts the 2 weeks of your pre-op diet, so technically 12 weeks) All of you new post op and soon to be post op will be fine. If you search here you will see people concerned about this probably once or twice a week. I know I did. -
I'm a slow loser. I've been told it's because my BMI is on the lower end. So after my 3 week stall I only lose 1lb a week. I have not lost anything for almost 3 weeks now. So I guess I'll go back to my liquid diet and see if that helps.

Perplexed. Surgeon says no such thing as a "stall"
blondebomb replied to kndoster's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I dont want to be sarcastic or anything but from personal experiance..I hit the "3 week stall" an it lasted for me almost a month. I didn't change a thing. I didn't go up an I didn't go down. many also call this a "plataeu" and my surgeon an the staff and also in my preop classes from the nutritionist, psychologist/psychiatrist and the nurses who also taught the class yes they all called it the dreaded "stall" to our class. its baffling how all these dr's (surgeon's) teach differantly.. reminds me of all 4 differant rhumeys I have seen in 4 yrs they all had their own opinions and ways of treating. drove me nuts! haha (don't ask why I made the comment on the rhumey thing just reminded me what I seen with them as well).. -
So I keep reading about it! How long has it lasted for each of you guys?

Do male loose weight faster than female?
allies journey replied to etorres's topic in The Guys’ Room
My experience with weight loss and men is yes they do lose weight faster than women. No matter what diet or exercises they do. NOT FAIR, lol but do what surgeon and dietitian tells you and be amazed. Not sure if guy's get what they call a 3 week stall like the women do but don't get discouraged if it happens. .. Allie Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App -
Whew! and I thought I was eating weird... It takes me so long to finish a shake that it is time to eat again when I finish... Snacks are 1 string cheese, and dinner is a tiny portion of meat and maybe a vegetable, a V8 or some unsweetened applesauce. My Water jug is my constant companion and I have a hard time getting enough down every day. I am on week 4 and at the dreaded 3 week stall but my clothing is getting looser so not too worried.

I was dong great, then I blew it!
Deakay replied to warrior68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its great that you are still working out/walking! I would take the little victories where you can and maybe consider going back to Protein shakes and no carbs for a few days just to get past the cravings. Have some sugar-free/fat-free pudding for chocolate. There is a better way to satisfy your appetite, and you know better than anyone what that is....... Use this tool to get back on track for your new lifestyle You can do this. You really want to do this. You really will do this! We all have faith in you, you can, you want to, you will......Just keep saying it. That being said, I have one more week before my food free-for-all and I want meatloaf dammit!!! lol, but I had to go back to 2 shakes a day to get my loss moving again after my 3-week stall. So we all have to make adjustments occasionally. -
how much weight did you lose each month?
kikicoates78 replied to mamaofmatthew's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I use my fitness pal, and an actual weight tracker app i down loaded. U are supposed to weigh daily with that... Well that got a bit frustrating. Lol I'm 6 weeks out of surgery and had a 3 week stall. I'm down 33 pounds total now. -
@@kyboo1972 Go you! Congratulations on your pre-op weight loss. It will serve you SO WELL going forward. (And when you hit that inevitable "3 week stall" -- and it will happen; I'm in the middle of it right now -- it is so comforting when you've lost 120 pounds and not just 20 pounds!)

I'm right there with all of you. And it didn't occur to me that the 3week stall included pre op untill now. I hope the 3 weeks stall doesn't last for 3 weeks...that would suck! -

I totally get it! I am just about 8 weeks post and when that "3 week stall" reared its ugly head, I actually laughed to myself and thought, "well, that was right on cue!". But, as the days (now week and a half) have passed.....not so funny. I didn't want to post anything either because of the many times it's been discussed! -
Dumping syndrome and 3 week stall of weight loss
Cajunincheesetown posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 15 days post roux en y and have been doing well and even running slowly, Ran 2 miles in less than 32 minutes yesterday including a hill! Last night I felt dehydrated and hungry and I’m now 15 days after surgery so I picked. Mushy meal of beef vegetable soup and I ate it. This morning had horrific bleeding stomach problems and had to miss work. Haven’t had this before- so I tried to eat eggs late afternoon and threw up. This is my first bad day. I am tolerating my medications, etc. but today my stomach is cramping and not very happy. also the weight loss stalled this week- not sure why. Today I finally dropped a pound. anyone have any comments? -
Apparently there's a 3 week stall. Just keep doing the protein and you'll see movement on the scale. I was shocked that I hit a plateau with as little as I was eating- and exercising - but it's normal.

need some motivation
carolyn24seven replied to sweetie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh sweetie, you are in such a hurry. I am the impatient type also. But, it does not work that way. Think of the sleeve as a turtle or snail. they go slowly along their way and get there in the end. It is the end results that matter. You have been successful so far and will continue. Do not worry about this 3 week stall. Keep on your program and walk. You will be getting a new outfit or two for Christmas for sure. Keep the faith, slow down your expectations, and get outside and enjoy life. Do not wait to be a certian size to enjoy yourself. Every moment counts. I go back to eating soups whenever I eat something that my tum does not like. I will re-introduce that food again in a month or so. Soups and protein drinks have been my fall back position since surgery. Do not worry about what yur Tum does not like now, it will again later. Aren't you just amazed at how little you are eating? Ya gotta know in your head that you will be loosing weight with the reduced intake. The scale will catch up. Honest. -
I know I've read so much on the dreaded 3 weeks stall. I am 3 weeks out today and have stalled on the scale since week two. even reading about it still feel mentally unprepared. I keep thinking the surgery isn't working for me lol I know crazy. .or that maybe I'm eating too much. . I get about 55oz of Water each day and between 50-65 grams of protien . My goal is 60-70 .. try my best but it's hard some days. So I guess my question is so I need to change something or do you just let it pass? Ps. I have also put my scale away so I will not be weighing myself until my month post op apt. But this is literally driving me crazy. Even though I know it happens... and it's normal. Ugh. Difficult in weightloss
Eliz_123 replied to Eliz_123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes ! I really just believed that I was doing something , but then I did read about the 3 week stall that someone here recommended. And now reading your story really put things into perspective so thankyou for sharing !! -
I only see my nutritionist cuz she facilitates our support meetings each month. It's not one-on-one stuff. I got all my nutrition classes pre-op + the book bible. The other stuff I learned here. You're at 4 weeks. You had the typical 3 week stall most likely. Also you had complications and probably medications that have thrown you behind the curve a little. You've lost almost half your weight. Congrats! Seems like you are doing pretty good! Why not list some of what you are eating and your daily calories/macros? We can probably give you a pretty good idea. Also, list what stage you're eating at now per your doc.

Why Oh Why Can't I Lose Weight!

You are getting quite a bit of exercise and sounds like your calories are low. Maybe shake it up calorie wise? Also, keep in mind the 3 week stall everyone is mentioning. -
Scale Won't Budge!
Cervidae replied to smashley296's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stalls are normal and necessary! We've all worried about them. I had more than average, most likely due to my PCOS, and I was here making similar posts, scared that I would be stuck at whatever weight I was forever. In fact, I have a 2-3 week stall every month, that's just my body's "normal". And yet, here I am less than 9 months later and down 143 pounds since surgery. It all adds up, and worrying about it is just needless and adversely affects your mental and physical health anyway. Just keep up with your Water intake, Protein, and Vitamins, and soon you'll feel silly for ever worrying about this. -
Can Splenda cause you to stall or gain ??
Lissa replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Juzme, I think you've hit a stall. I drink decaf tea with splenda daily and I've had no problems with it. I did have the dreaded 3 week stall. It lasted 2 weeks, then I had a big drop, so I don't think Splenda affects me. Try changing things up and see if something jump starts the weight loss. Losing splenda is as good a thing to mix up as anything else. -
Wt Loss Not What Expected! What Am I Doing Wrong?
BenisaMartim4 replied to innerme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not doing anything wrong. The shock of surgery can cause you to retain and even gain weight. I gained 10# in the hospital. It took me awhile to get that back off. Then I went through the 3 week stall. It was a little while before I got the ball to rolling, but after I did it for sure gathered no moss. Just have patience. Every-one's journey is different. YOU WILL LOSE!! Best wishes :0) -
Hello All, I had my RNY on 8/4 and lost almost 25 lbs in two weeks. At week 3 my weight loss stalled and I keep gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. from 175-180. I’m only 5ft 4 so this is way too soon for this! I eat about 600 calories a day, hitting the 50-60grams in protein and usually 50 carbs or so. I’m not cleared for exercise but in all honestly I’ve been lazy and tired so no exercise. Where could I be going wrong?!
