Definitely, definitely, definitely STOP WORRYING If you search past (and even current) posts here you will read about the dreaded week 3 stall....there is even one by me!!!! You have to keep in mind that after losing so much weight so quickly your body needs time to adjust to that weight. I will also tell you that stressing out over it can make it worse. Just keep doing what you're doing and TRY not to focus on the number on the scale....it's just a number!!! Instead, focus on the NSV's (non-scale victories). When I hit the 3 week stall (which lasted 2 weeks BTW), I took my measurements and even though I hadn't lost ANY weight in two weeks, I had lost several inches....proof that the scale can, at times, be my worst enemy!! So, don't beat yourself up....you're doing great!!!!

Falling Into The Stall Trap
Castletree replied to yecats's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i had a 3 week stall that was driving me nuts. First I thought I was eating too much(don't know how that's possible) then I thought I was eating too little. So, I upped my Protein and Water and now the scale has started moving again. I think my body thought I was starving. I guess I should expect this to happen often on this journey. Just don't give up hope! Kris -
No Weight Loss Since Surgery
feedyoureye replied to Anakin Jay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some gain a lot of weight from the IVs, My guess is you are holding water weight... make sure you are drinking lots of water, keeping the salt down, and go for protein over carbs. Some low carb juices might be good, celery, cucumber, greens... green tea.... things that get the water moving out of the body. We just can't tell why the body does what it does sometimes... you are doing great, the body is just not ready to let go yet... my 3 week stall (at 2 1/2 weeks) lasted for weeks and then I started to lose again. Do move... tell your body its time to burn some of that fat! Also... measure now if you haven't... you may be losing inches. In fact, I bet you are. Are your pants falling off yet? -

Scale Doesnt Seem To Be Moving
GEAUX SAINTS replied to xraylinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My "3 week stall" lasted about 5 weeks!!! ARG!!! I thought my surgery was a failure, although, I was still loosing minimal inches. Then, all of a sudden, it started going down again!!! I realized that the weight at which I had stalled, was a weight that I had previously been at for a good period of time! Also, at 3 weeks out, your body is still trying to adjust to your new stomach size. Your body thinks you're trying to starve it & therefore, holds on to as fat as it possibly can! These stalls are quite normal! Keep doing what you're doing...you will be rewarded!!! -

I'm at my 3 week stall as well. Scale hasn't moved in 4 days BUT my clothes are getting baggy . I know I need to increase my water so working on that. And I finally started walking 2 miles a day. I know I was late on that, but better late than never! -

@ Cheri Awesome advise! I am totally in my 3 week stall! The evil scale hasn't moved in 10 days-- only flucuated(sp) one or two pounds! I try so hard to get in my water and protein! I never feel hungry but it takes forever to get anything dowm! I know this is going to work, I would just like it to work at little faster! I haven't felt like working out and I realized that if I get on that elliptical I would probablly get the scale moving! -

As others have said, this is the 3 week stall. I totally know how you feel!! It does happen as your body tries to stabilize itself from the loss so far. It will pick up again! -

I love MyFitnessPal too. But you should also note that it's VERY common to stall in your weight loss at right around 3 weeks post-op. Try a search on "3 week stall", and you'll find a bazillion posts from people in the exact same situation. Don't panic, the weight loss will start up again! -
Tlmiller- I'm stalled too and I was sleeved the same day as you! I keep hearing about the 3 week stall but I'm not worried, I know it will come off sooner or later! Think positive

Freshly Sleeved...with Lots Of Questions.
Foxbins replied to SicChl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Todd-- I used to eat too fast, too. I bought myself a baby spoon and a cocktail fork, so that my bites would be little, and then I put them down in between bites. I'm a year out and unless I think about eating slow, I can still go too fast and then get the ickies (pain or slimies.) At six weeks out, it sounds like you hit the 3-week stall two weeks ago. Do not worry ,you aren't doomed to fail! Your body is adjusting and will begin to lose again. I weigh myself every day but I don't get upset if the scale doesn't move or if there is a small gain. I look for overall trends and chart my weight only on Tuesdays. For all of my weightloss the trend each month was downward. If you are freaked by no scale movement or a small uptick, then weigh less often, but I got fat by not weighing myself and wanted to change that after my surgery. -
I'm now 2 weeks out and I've lost 14 lbs since surgery, 36 since i started my pre-op. I'm feeling pretty good about it. I wish it was more, but we all wish that, don't we? I also have my time of month, so I know that's probably good for about 3-5 lbs. I have noticed, as my endo said I would that the adrenaline issues from the tumors on my adrenal glands is significantly LESS. The adrenaline created is partly in response to the grehlin created in the stomach. Hormones cause other hormones to do other hormonal things. When a person feels hungry, they have a survival instinct that kicks in brought about by adrenaline. Huh. makes sense. Happy with my progress thus far. Happy with my choice. Happy with my recovery. Just getting very happy these days I know I'm about ready for the 3 week stall, which I'm okay with. Its not like I can eat a cheesecake over it

Not Even Two Weeks Out And Already Stopped Losing! I'm Not Even Eating!

I wish I had some words of wisdom, but it seems natural to sit at the same weight for awhile , check out this topic. I have been at a standstill and it will be 4 weeks tomorrow, haven't lost a pound since my 2 week follow up. :-( http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/30314-is-it-the-infamous-3-week-stall-or-is-it-3-weeks-of-stalling/page__fromsearch__1 -
I Wish Someone Had Told Me....
DebiC replied to ShouldBlittler's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish someone had told me everyones experience would be completely different. I had no pain, no gas, no tube down my throat. I did have a drain and staples that had to be removed, painlessly. I have never had the slimes, or hiccups when I am full. However if I take even one bite too many or too fast I gag like I'm going to vomit. Not a pretty sight. I did not become lactose intolerant, I need all my drinks ice cold and hate any warm or Hot Drinks. I never had to have another Protein shake after my surgery, I'm not cold all the time, I didn't have a 3-week stall. I thought I would miss bread more than I do. Same for burgers. I miss Pepsi more than I thought I would. I never knew that plain Water could taste so different. Brands I loved before I can't even swallow now. I wish I had taken "before" pictures so I could see the results that the scale says are there. I wish I hadn't taken so much stuff to the hospital, and also not worried so much about having enough stuff on hand for the mushy stage (unless you live an hour from a grocery store!) because my tastes changed dramatically after my surgery. I wish someone had told me how good I would feel after even losing just a small amount of weight. But mostly I wish someone had told me about this years ago-My life would have been so much different. -
I think it is. Search for 3 week stall and there are a few discussions on it. And yes, it really sucks! :-(

em, I'm on the exact same phase you're in!!! i've lost 21 lbs and i've also been stalled since Wednesday!! I feel so crappy right now!! I think from what i've read on this, this is the dreaded 3 week stall. plus, i just finished AF and i'm hoping i start losing again. i'm still on mushy and soft foods and i start on regular foods on wednesday. i can barely get 700 calories in. I don't know how to get out of it. i've been losing a pound a day since the surgery and then last wednesday/Thursday i stopped. I've been losing a pound and gaining a pound everyday. kind of like bouncing back and forth between 200 and 201. it sucks!!!

70 LBS DOWN TODAY!!!! Boooooooooom! Victory is SWEET! I have some setbacks: -Ate some CRAP sugary food over the last 3 weeks. Stalled my A$$ off! -Stopped killing it at the gym due to a Derby Injury NSV's: I bought several XL things including an adorable dress & they all FIT AWESOMELY! That is regular ladies XL, not 1X.... just to clarify (& gloat) I bought a size 12 REGULAR WIDTH strappy ridiculous heels that SCREAM Vegas (will be there in one month!) I was up to a 13W before surgery. I am currently wearing a tank top from the JUNIORS section. it has a multi-color zebra pattern & I think I'm going to wear it to the gym later! I can sit in the school chairs that have arms on them now. I can walk up to the third floor apartment of a friend of mine & I can still breathe!! My collarbones exist... and they are LOVELY! So, pretty damn good if you ask me. I have many more victories than setbacks & I start regular practices with the Charlotte Rollergirls Derby team IN ONE WEEK EXACTLY! L-O-V-I-N-G my new life~ ALSO.... CHECK OUT MY VIDEO BLOG ON YOUTUBE. More about my derby adventures there. Link is in my signature. I would love your feedback!!!!

Has anyone else hit the "3 week stall"? I have! I lost 12lbs the first week, 3lbs the second week and the third week and I gained and lost the same 1lb all week! Irritating, but I'm doing exactly what I should be doing (700-ish calories, 60-70 protein, lots of water). Hopefully next week I start losing again!

Is It The Infamous 3 Week Stall Or Is It 3 Weeks Of Stalling?
happy1957 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok friends. The last two weeks I have been disappointed with first a 2lb gain and then a 2lb loss. So I broke even. Now week three, still no loss. What is going on? I am only 5 weeks post op and since the second I stopped liquids and introduced food, I am at a stand still. I am no longer disappointed, but getting depressed. I am watching people around me at work on weight watchers who are eating heartily and losing lots of weight week to week and I am the one who had major surgery and eat nothing in comparison and yet my scale doesn't move. I am doing everything right! When can I expect weight loss? My Dr had set a goal of 6 lbs to lose before my next visit which is in 9 days. It isn't going to be possible. Has anyone else had this experience????????? -

Hey guys. So its been 2 months now ( almost) and i am about 50 pounds down. I went through a 2-3 week stall but all of a sudden i have been losing .8-1 pounds a day again. Am I The Only One Not Losing Weight?
xenophile replied to bayareanan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. I was sleeved on 12/28. I lost 26 pounds during the 2 weeks before and after surgery, but now I've regained a pound. I keep hearing about the infamous "3 week stall." I'm really hoping that's what's going on with both of us, though I don't have the meds to deal with. That must be frustrating. But hang in there! I'm sure our scales will start moving in the right direction soon! -
