Doing well here, and I swear I talk about you and Anna every single day! I hope to see her on Wednesday at the support group meeting. Are you back to work yet? I go back on the 18th. I decided to take quite a bit of time off to get my head on straight and play with my meal planning and such. My job is not physical, but it's certainly stressful. I'm still using MOM every now and then as I'm probably eating too much cheese--gotta love that protein. I'm getting all my protein from food now, which is nice. Still haven't tried dense meat, but I'm having some thin-sliced deli meat, and I had turkey white chili that set really well. I'm on the elliptical twice a day for 15 minutes each, and I hope to increase that this coming week. I'm ready to eat veggies!!!! My loss is right about 18 pounds plus the 16 I loss during my preop. My month anniversary will be Monday; can you believe that! Thanks for checking in, and keep me posted on your progress!

Hey! Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. I just made my appt. today for the seminar and first doctors appt. (both in April) Surgery on June 11th!! Scheduling around my daughter's vacation and we are going to work in a recovery week for my husband and I in Galveston! I'm coming to Dallas to have it done...much less expensive than up north. We are from TX, so I have friends and family there. Is there anything I MUST know before getting sleeved that you wish you'd known?
Have a great evening!

Just wanted to say hi and good luck! I noticed that we have the same surgery date and thought that it might be nice to keep in touch about what we are going through! I am a little nervous about the pre-op weight loss as well, but I am hopeful! I am new at this site so I would like to keep in touch and figure all this out together...

I did, and no it was not nearly as hard as I fear'd. I just really did the best I could do. I managed to drop 15% and they required only 10% I know a lot of people who didnt drop anything more then 5% but remember if it was easy to loss we would not be in Options trying to get ready for WLS.
Thats what my Dr. Said. Dont stress about it, DO WHAT YOU can do. Nothing more and nothing less.

I meant WLS in general is hard, not the sleeve. Be prepared to deal with others and their reactions. Will they be jealous, proud, resentful, etc. What do you tell people about your weight loss? Challenges to eating out - what to order, how much, what to tell waiter asking if food was bad since you only ate a few bites. Be prepared for liquid diet. Before surgery you'll get hungry, but realize with sleeve hunger hormones will be less, so it's easier to do liquids. Expect to get to the point of thinking "if I have to drink ONE MORE protein drink I'm going to gag!"
Living with the sleeve is easy compared to life with a lapband. The hunger is still there, but MUCH less. All of my co-morbidities previous to WLS are gone. I walk about 2miles/day and feel great. All the mental and physical challenges leading up to this have been worth it.

Hi Rob, I'm doing very well. Weight loss has been very slow but I'm moving in the right direction. I'm down 34lbs. weeehaaaa. Life has changed so much. You won't regret getting this done (well maybe at first you will) but once you get the routine down..it's fantatic. When are you coming to Colo?

I had the best phone call ever this morning. What was the phone call you say? It was my weight loss surgeon's office giving me my surgery date. 12/5/11 Yeah. Was hoping to get it by 11/9/11 as my cardio guy had only given me approval for surgery until then, but, it just means that I have to wait until after they check out my heart again and then I have the green light for the surgery. Heath test is routine, just to see how the stent is doing. So, I have been the happiest girl ever!

Well I am sorry, I haven't been on here lately. Been very difficult time in my life. Really at a stand still with my weight loss. Had to have rotator cuff tear repair surgery, which means that exercise has been out. Still in a sling at this time. Then on July 8, my mother-in-law passed away. When I married my husband, she took me as her own daughter because my mother had died in 1997. I miss her so much, so still trying to get used to her not being around. She really encouraged my weight...

I have set myself two short term goals - my six month goal on 8/22 and a Labor Day Goal. The 6 month goal is to weigh 167 on the doctor's scale - that is an 86 pound loss. The second one is to weigh 157 on the doctors scale by Labor Day - that is a 96 pound loss. And, I have moderated my ultimate goal weight. I want to weigh 125 on my home scale - which is around 135 dressed on my doctor's scale. This will be a nice size (I'm not sure what) and will be a NORMAL BMI.

Today is July 4, 2011. I've down to 220 pounds. I've dropped 52 pounds. But, now I seem to be at a stand still at my weight loss. I try to get my 60 grams of protein each day, work out at Curves, or do bike riding or wii each day. I'm also drinking water.
