    June 2007 Bandsters

Yay for new babies Janine!!! Lol. My mom because a Grandma when she was 38. Maybe she was 39. I don't remember... Lol. Went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes with a friend tonight. I love going to eat with her. She is my super thin friend and she has been nothing but supportive of me from the begining. She is the only friend that I have who knows about my band, and will still go out and eat with me. Seriously. Maybe a few others will go out with me, but they hate watching me eat tiny portions, and tiny bites and chewing. Honestly, I hate watching them scarf down huge bites of things I could never dare to eat. Lol. Oh well. ANYWAY... so we went out and I seriously paid $10 to eat like 6 peas, a few peices of shredded cheese, 1 crouton, 1 small broccoli head, 2 sips of broccoli and cheese soup, and a few sunflower seeds!!! Thats insanity. We laughed really hard about it and she said that she was going back for 'thirds' to finish eating our moneys worth. Haha. We had a good time. Missy - I know what you mean about the scale... this morning I was back at 280.1. yesterday morning I was at 279.1. But (here's nasty TMI talk) I realized I hadn't had a bowel movement in like 3 days. So I doubled up on the fiber today, which just made me gassy. I really felt like I SHOULD go tonight, so I did a suppository! Haha. I was desperate! I feel about 5 pounds lighter now. Yay me!

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

My mother is like that. She can't eat broccoli, cabbage, onions, asparagus or anything like that. I apparently have a bomb proof gut. Hate to be TMI, but I have a BM every single morning. I think I would pop otherwise. I've always been that way. Prune juice! Blechh!!!!!!

The Stuff They Don't Tell You

Yeah agree with this one like pee is different not just in looks, to be as delicate as I can lol other female parts taste and smell different not gross or nasty just different lol I know it affects men too on um consistency and taste when they are on a high Protein diet just never gave it a thought that oh yeah that’s all gonna smell and taste different too btw! (and I could be the only one and just did TMI on my private life LOL)
  4. I've been constipated since surgery 2 weeks ago, and I've been taking stool softeners every night. They seem to help produce a BM every 2 or 3 days. Well it seems that even with the stool softener I have developed a fecal impaction. I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow so I need to make this all better tonight. I've taken milk of magnesia and used glycerin suppositories. I passed some of the impaction very painfully and even had to digitally remove some of it (I'm in nursing school so I've learned to do this and had gloves). However, part of the impaction is still there. Any suggestions? I'm feeling miserable for the first time since my surgery and have no clue what I should do. T.I.A.
  5. TMI alert I am day 4 post op and did not not realize I would have completely liquid BMs. As a result, i woke up this morning with messy PJ bottoms OMG Just Do It!!!
  6. TMI I know but... No more digging bras or and disappearing undies. Nothing worse then bruising bras and hurtful wedgies..

    Where are the November Sleevers?

Thank you all for your advice! I did get sick, it was scary but it didn't hurt as bad as I anticipated. This is TMI, but it was only bile and Water that came up. After I got sick I instantly felt better. Today is a new day! I am at home now, which is so nice. I tried having some Jello, pudding and milk and boost... they all tasted horrible! I'm allowed to be on "full liquids" and it all tastes like crap. So all I've had is 2 cups of water...it's not great, but tomorrow I will do better! What were you able to drink the first 2-4 days out of surgery? What tips helped you get your water and Protein in? And we're you able to meet those requirements? Thanks a million guys! Sheena :-)
  8. Anyone suffering from IBS have the sleeve? I have either constipation gas and bloating or diarrhea ALL the time due to sensitive and irritable bowels. TMI I know sorry, but I wanted to see if anyone with the sleeve has the same and how their IBS is after the sleeve?

    June Sleevers!

Hey laguerr13 my sleeve brother form another surgeon!???? lol. I am so happy to hear how awsome you've been doing I always like reading your post because you really make sence and you keep it real. Mostly cause we were renewed on the same date June 10th! I wish I could say im doing as well with my eating like you seem to be doing. My issue is that I can not tolerate meat at all and believe me I have tried very lean chicken breast, thighs, Beef in several diffrent cuts from tri tip, to T- bone and beyond. Fish ive had sword fish and salmon shrimp and crab meat and even sardines. I have never been a big meat eater to begin with but now since we have to chew our food so thouroghly I have been experiencing this weird thing where I begin to get a mental picture of the meat Im eating and I begin to breakdown it down in my head the texture, the fibereous meat, the layers of fat and the veins and blood even by the time Im done chewing my food (Im sorry TMI) in gaging and can barely swollow what Ive just chewed up! I try not to think about it,i try to distract my thought but I just get so grossed out by meats no matter how its prepared. My fear is that I will never be able to eat meats again and enjoy them. Another thing Im having issues with is im very sensative to certain scents and odors. I cant stand the smell of very strong spices or fried foods cigaretts and for a while a lot of things smelled like onions or vinager to me but no one else!! Its really kind of weird! But to end this on a possative note I have lost 33 lbs since surgery my presurgery weight was 235 and today I weigh 203 lbs I feel great and starting to look pretty good!
  10. Hi folks, Wasn't sure where to post this but I am on 5 weeks post op and was doing great except for last 2 days. It all started Sunday morning; I had excruciating pain while laying in bed, so much so it was tough to turn over and get out of bed. Added to it was the pain I felt when I breathed in deeply. Same happened early this am; it hurts throughout the day but seems to be worse when sleeping. It so happens I had my post op follow up today and told my Dr. how I am feeling and he suggested an upper GI but feels very small chance it's a slipped band since I am not vomiting, salivating profusely, etc. Wanted to reach out to you folks to see if anyone experienced similar either with or without a slipped band. Also, and this falls under TMI, DH and I had sexual relations for the 1st time on Saturday since surgery and then all of a sudden this happened. Not that we are swinging from chandeliers (yet:tongue_smilie:) but could that have caused something to go wrong with the band? I have been so paranoid about sex and the band post op which is why I made DH wait a month. Also- been taking Gasx in case it was residual gas pain but not been to helpful. Thanks to all in advance for your insights.

    Just had surgery Monday

Hey there! I was banded on Monday as well so I don't have any definite answers, but I can certainly share with you what I am going through as well. My experience is pretty similar to yours. First of all, don't stop drinking Water. Yesterday and the day before I realllllllly really slacked on my water intake. Today I got some major gassy like cramps in my stomach, got cold sweats and was having trouble breathing. I think that I was getting dehydrated! Once I started drinking water, I started feeling better & better. As far as a BM, I finally had one yesterday. I tried this morning when I felt horrible, but it was watery. (sorry tmi) I answered the questions that I could. They may not be much help, but thought I would give you a perspective from a 4/18 surgery date as well. Hope you feel better soon! 1: Left side under rib, what is this pain/discomfort I am feeling???? The doc has my port on the left side of my body, and I believe it's stitched to muscle? That causes me some pulling discomfort... I'm starting to get used to it, I suppose. 2: I constantly feel my stomach growling - is this normal???? Well mine is too lol. It gets annoying! Perhaps it could be normal...? 4: Why can I do ok laying on the recling couch, but horrible if I try to lay in bed? I also slept sitting up for 2 nights. I upgraded to my bed the third night, even though I was uncomfortable at first. When I woke up, my body felt much better that it had gotten to stretch out. (I did prop myself on 2 or 3 pillows, with one at the side lol) 5: How long is recup time? I thought I'd be able to go back to work Monday, I'm still taking Pain pills at night just so I can sleep. I'm wondering the same thing. Not going back to work Monday, for sure. 6 I am barely drinking, I'm lucky if I can drink more than 15 oz of Protein shakes. I'm trying to just shake and not blend, but finding them hard to get down. Try the pre mixed! They are much better and easier access in my opinion. 7: Water seems a little easier to get down. and I can eat Ice pop and Jello....but how long before I can eat food another 3 weeks, how will I last???? I'm just dying for real food, but I can't wait for cream of broccoli, cream of tomato, or maybe something else. I've already nibbled on a little bit of mashed potatoes. Started eating sugar free Jello pudding too. I bought a can of Tomato Soup as well... can't wait to try it! 8: Stopped heartburn meds, but gas pains are yucky. The heating pad works wonders... especially if it's in your shoulder like mine. I am still using the heating pad. I love it.

    Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Well, against all good advice, I was weighing every day. I was losing a pound a day for a while, so it was pretty awesome. When I hit 297 (started at 344) I hit my first stall. It was at 3 weeks. I was ok at first but then on the 4th day of stall I gained 2 pounds to 299!! I had a BM and went to 298.5. I knew then I needed to stop weighing every day. So I went to every three days -- only in the morning only after a BM. (Sorry tmi) -- this morning-- voila. Down 5!
  13. I too will be banded on Wednesday! I was on a 14 day Optifast diet, but it made me horrible ill. I lasted 4 days on it and then I had the worst diarreha of my life (TMI...sorry) anyhow, the doctor then moved me to clear liquid for 2 days, then to low fat, low carb for 2 days, and then back to clear liquid the last 5 days. I am DYING! I'm not sure who can survive on chicken stock, popsicles, fat free sugar free pudding, and water but it is not this fat chick. I can't wait for this to be over. I never figured I would say this, but I can't wait to eat over cooked broccoli and oatmeal. I have cheated a bit by eating 3 pieces of pepperoni off my kids' pizza and 3 cheetos in the last 2 days but overall I think I will be fine....I hope!

    Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?

I had surgery on Monday... everything went fine, I slept a lot the first 2 days, and really until about 1-2 on the 3rd day. It was like a switch flipped. I'm still in pain when moving, but not constant pain. Was sent home with Hycet, Zofran, and Pepcid. One thing I learned, do not trust a fart. TMI, I know... but seriously. Today things are going ok... kids are gone to their grandparents for Thanksgiving, so I'm just relaxing and will probably do that the rest of the day!

    May surgeries!

Hey everyone, I wanted to post a quick note. Im having my surgery on Monday, I have been on the liquid diet for almost 2 weeks. I just wanted to tell people who are on it or preparing for the liquid diet to be careful! I have never experienced anything quiet like this before. It is NOT fun in any way. Your stomach shrinks, you loose weight...but, you cant eat anything solid and that really sucks. like, i'm dying for a piece of toast! and you go to the bathroom a lot! whether you want to or not. yeah. this is not fun. (sometimes you need a little TMI)
  17. Lissa - way to go! Well done and what incredible weight loss! Aussie girl - any Wednesday evening will suit me - I think Jimbo has a few more weeks on the soft food so mid June should be good timing. Brendan - good for you, the next few weeks will be the hardest so just keep telling yourself that and thinking of the light at the end of the tunnel - or should I drop the analogies and just say the weight loss as you jump on the scales and slipping into those new trendy clothes! One not so good one for the girls (so to speak - and probably TMI for the boys!) From size 18 DD down to 14C - haven't seen those skimpy little sizes since I was 18! Oh to be 18 again because then I wouldn't need the push up model!!

Tried an enema? Not as bad as they sound... You can get a kit off eBay if your local chemist doesn't stick them. Warm tap water is fine for occasional use and they really work.. Tmi?

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Hi Everyone! So it has definitely been a while since the last time I shared. I am 26 days out... 4 weeks to be exact on Monday. A week prior to surgery I weighed 245 lbs., the day of surgery I weighed 234 lbs and as of last Monday I weighed 219 lbs. I am 15 lbs. lighter since surgery and wildly confused about my latest eating experiences. For the first two weeks, I was basically on all fluids, Soups, Protein shakes, sf popsicles and Water was not well tolerated at all. After my two week follow-up appmt with the surgeon and the NUT I was cleared to eat "pureed" foods. I was given the green light on lots of different types of food, except rice, bread, Pasta, and other "carbs" that my NUT didn't think would help my supposed "high protein diet" that included Beans, oatmeal, Cereal, cooked carrots, corn and potatoes. Also, she said no to creamed soups, because they have too many preservatives or additives. I tried to be good and so far I've been cooking almost every night pretty healthy meals including baked skinless chicken with veggies including carrots and corn (lol), baked salmon with veggies, ground beef with red, green peppers, small pieces of potatoes, onions, sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese, parmesan crusted- pan seared salmon fillet and veggies and soups including creamed soups. For fluids, I am still having the "stuck" feeling with water and yet sf popsicles are super easy to eat and my personal favorite drink green tea with unsweetened lemonade and two splendas goes down super easy as well. Plus, since I commute to New York City for work Monday through Friday, I walk about 30 minutes at day at a fast pace (in other words, that is my exercise)...Lol Soooo, for the most part I stay on track not eating those "no no foods" however, lately it seems like I've been more relaxed with the rules and I've eaten everything from popcorn (at the movie theatres), to an 8oz slurpee, and a few Oreos (without the cream). I've taken bites of some junk food here and there, though I steer clear of bread, rice and pasta no matter how much I want to chomp down on them....and finding accompaniments for meat and fish has become a creative process. Lol. Sort to say. So with all this said, I am pretty worried, because many times I have been able to eat everything that I wanted at pretty high portions like 6oz of meat or fish and 3 or 4 oz of veggies even though it takes me a few hours to finish, but I get it down. Lately I've been asking myself if I'm even sleeved?? Geez! I'm almost sure I am. Lol, but I am so scared to gain weight, I have gone through the weight loss/ weight gain thing wayy too many times and I should be sure that since I'm sleeved I will go down, but I am not 100% confident. Is it possible to dialate my tummy already???... Our sleeve is a tool, I just hope I'm using it the right way. I'm sure that I don't even get half of the liquids that I am supposed to be drinking, TMI ALERT: my pee is way dark and definitely no enough at all times due to my lack of liquid in take, but I'm sure eating. My goal is to be 160-165 lbs. much sooner than later. I hope it happens. Good luck to all of you out there, reading your posts helps me immensely. I wish all of you that are having serious complications and financial issues blessings and that all gets better soon. I'm having financial issues too. But it will get better! ...and to all of you that are doing good/great keep it up! =)

Was 5 pounds heavier yesterday. Today was 5 pounds lighter. Seriously, I'm about ready to do a colon cleanse if this keeps happening. It's the TOM or the Poo. Probably the poo. Massive blowout and bam! 5 pounds lighter. How is that even possible with the extra water and little bit of food? I'm about ready to set un an IV of Benefiber. TMI? Sorry. I just used to be so regular and then all of a sudden for no apparent reason, it decides to set up shop and invite squatters.
