I know this is going to be WILDLY popular... ;)
Elode replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
FYI: I'm also doing this so I can get to goal and get a TT, breast lift and Implants. Let's just be real, these things are necessary in my life! They aren't going to magically fix themselves. I'm scared of the TT but it must be done! Is that TMI?! Oh well your all going to hear about it later anyway! -
Questions for post ops...
Shells_Almost_There replied to Only1likeme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As Bufflehead mentioned, there are a lot of different programs and plans - so what's outlawed by one doc might be perfectly fine for another. My surgeon's rules are very lenient compared to many I've seen mentioned on this site. In fact, I was given ibuprofen while still in the hospital, after my surgery! My doc has no issues with it at all. Concerning Protein, I am a very picky person and what some people say tastes good or great usually tastes terrible to me. I got a bunch of sample packs and finally found just 2 powders that I could stand. I also got the Premier Protein ready-to-drink ones from costco and those are saving my life. In fact, I have a bunch of powder and samples that I will never use because the Premier is all I need. I'm also at my 4th week post-op (tomorrow! time flies) and my recovery has been like clockwork. I had very little pain, no gas pains, haven't puked yet (but it's been close), and while I thought I'd lose my freakin' mind during the 2 weeks of liquids only after surgery, I did actually survive!!! LOL I haven't had any emotional issues, but it's early still for me. What I'm finding is that now that I'm allowed purees/mushies, I am eating more carbs. This is something I need to control. It's also a balancing act, because I am still struggling to get in 8 glasses (minimum) of Water per day - not because I have trouble drinking, but because I just forget or don't feel like drinking. On an empty stomach I can gulp water - it's very surprising. My next steps for week 4 and beyond are to track my water much closer, since the weight isn't magically falling off and I can tell I'm dehydrated. Plus, I will continue to use My Fitness Pal to track all foods, so that I can keep a watch on those carbs. Finally, I have been having a real issue with BMs. I will suddenly realize that it's been 2 days, and so then I drink a dose of Milk of Magnesia -- X number of hours later, I experience the pain of not being regular. It is really no fun. I am planning to get on a daily dose of some sort of OTC med for this, because I hate Milk of Magnesia!!! But, I hate constipation more. (There's just no such thing as TMI on this site, FYI ) I hope some of this helps. This surgery has been my best decision ever ( btw, less than 10 people are aware that I had surgery because it's my health and my decision and I don't want comments/feedback/scrutiny), and I wish I could have done this 10 years ago. Good luck to you! -
Sorry, this is a bit embarrasing, but since ive been home from the hospital my stools are loose. Is this normal? Oh, and a bit dizzy once in awhile. Is all this normal?

Is anyone having problems with bowel movement?
Eureka-C replied to valleygirl's topic in Food and Nutrition
WARNING - TMI I had loose bowels while my body ridded itself of the IV fluids, then one day it stopped, and days passed. After about 3 days, I decided to start using benefiber 3 to 4 times a day. Finally I started moving, but my hemmorrhoids, which I had not had problems with since my last pregnancy, were awful. It was painful, slow and bloody. Therefore, I now take benefiber on a regular basis. once a day the first day no movement, twice a day if two days since movement, and three times a day if three or more days. I now usually only go about every 3 days, but it is a normal consistency and no pain. I have read some scary stories about BM's so be sure to get your Water in, and something to make it soft or fiber. Best of luck. -
So I've been meaning to ask this question, yet every time I go to my surgeon's office I forget! My Soup dilemma. I love chunky meaty Soups. I'm ok without the carby starchy veggies, but can we eat the meats and broth if we can't drink and eat? Also, right now I'm still on puree stage. Could I puree both liquid and meat? I'm guessing I can so my question I guess is more geared for when I'm further out. To elaborate, and maybe TMI, I'm hispanic and I  LOVE mondongo (beef tripe soup) .<--- No Judging! It's high in Protein, not fattening (w/careful preparation) and can be made without starches without sacrificing much taste. If anyone else has had experience with this food post op please share.... I will, of course, experiment. Still, I'd rather save myself the trouble of having a bad episode, if that's the case. Please share experiences with other soups as well, as I can't imagine them being much different.

Hi!! I'm currently in the ER everyone! I haven't been able to keep ANYTHING down these past two days. Not even a sip of hot tea. So, my doc sent me here for IVs and meds. I felt much better after vomiting so many times (sorry...TMI) but I'd be on a road to dehydration if I didn't come. Pray for me!!! 8 days postop -- sleeved 8/12. 30 pounds down since 7/29.

Nov 2020 Bypass Peeps?
FireEMT710 replied to Lanie Hardy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on Monday... everything went fine, I slept a lot the first 2 days, and really until about 1-2 on the 3rd day. It was like a switch flipped. I'm still in pain when moving, but not constant pain. Was sent home with Hycet, Zofran, and Pepcid. One thing I learned, do not trust a fart. TMI, I know... but seriously. Today things are going ok... kids are gone to their grandparents for Thanksgiving, so I'm just relaxing and will probably do that the rest of the day! -
I was banded on 2/22..it was 7 days before I pooped...I tried MOM but it was nasty...so I started diluting prune juice in equal parts & Benefiber is AWESOME...you can mix it in soups or shakes... Anyway, dont worry it comes with the territory..now I have 1 big BM a day...WOW that is TMI. LOL

New Surg Date! Well my surgery got moved up due to very high blood pressure and so now it's in LITERALLY 12 days! New surgery date is October 24th, 2017! Now for the hard part; I've been on the Pre-op liquid diet for 2 days now & 1st day-easyyyy peasyyy (prob because of newness of it all & im so hyper about getting this dang surgery already!) then... 2nd day-uhmmm..well not so excited- diarrheaaaaa cityyyy!!! Like massive blowouts & bad! Really prepare peeps- I think I'm prob drinking way more broth than most people so it's looks & smells like broth :/- sorry maybe TMI I know, (but not really when ya'll are going to need to know what can happen!) But hey, we need to get into ketosis to shrink that liver so I'de rather have more fluids than unnecessary protein in. I'm already getting in almost 80 grams of protein & still hungry so broths keep me the fullest. Today is day 3 so we'll see how it goes..!

Any one else have to take 2 bottles of Magnesium citrate the day before their surgery??? I have never taken it but I have been told by other that one bottle will seariously clean you out! So two kinda scares me! :scared0: I was suposed to pick some one up at the air port that day and I think I am kinda scared to leave the house. I mean all I will have in me is protien shakes and lettuce for 10 days prior, and I have been told that when you drink it, when you feel you have to go then there is no waiting you have to go right then and there better be a bathroom near by!!!!:bored0: If there is any one out there with experience on weather I will be able to leave the house or if I need to fine some one to pick the person up so that I can stay leashed to the toilet I would greatly apreciate the feed back so I can do the plaing ahead of time. Thanks

13 hours to GO
Lulu5 replied to GlutenFreeSingleMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 12 days ago and I also had my gallbladder removed at the same time. The biggest problem I've faced so far is from the gallbladder removal (tmi- sudden diarrhea) and not the vsg. But overall, things are great. I hope you heal quickly. -
Sorry girl it was meant for sugar free me but I miss an selected wrong thing and seen where you commented and wasn't paying attention. Hi Shannon - I have a whey protein I got from Fruitful Yield, it's called Now Sports Whey Protein Isolate - unflavored. Because it's whey (dairy) it's good for adding to soups (Cream of Chicken soup that is strained) and Hot tea as it gives it a creamy consistency. It has 27 grams of protein a scoop so I add 1/2 a scoop and I'm good for 10/12 grams each 4 oz serving. I also add it to my cream of wheat cereal. Yesterday I added refried beans with a dallop of sour cream. Yummy!!!!! Today I'm going to add blended cottage cheese. One new food a day was recommended so I can see what my tummy thinks of each one. So far no real bad reactions to anything except Tomato soup. That left me with a yucky filmy feel in my mouth for hours after I ate. Also later that night I had diarrhea (tmi), I don't want that again. Are you eating pureed's yet and if so, what's working for you?

pre-op liquid diet and the tummy grumbles...
makemyownluck posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, the shakes have been keeping my hunger in check. I've been hungry here and there, but nothing I couldn't get over. For me, the worst part is that my stomach is grumbling constantly today. Grumbling isn't even the right word - more like whale songs. My stomach is singing to me, and not in a good way. Also, **TMI ALERT** I'm getting a little diarrhea. Not terribly, but it's not what it should be, either. I can't tell if that means I'm dehydrated or if it's supposed to be like that because I'm on liquids only. I feel okay otherwise, but I can't seem to get my stomach to calm down. I've been taking a Fiber supplement to try to stay regular, not sure if it's helping. Any one got suggestions? -
All I want to do is cheat on my diet
NovaLuna replied to 90’schild's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with that. After surgery you may not be able to digest that. I can't have xanthan gum it messes with my stomach and... well, it's TMI, but it gives me gas and diarrhea. Before surgery I had no issue. Now I avoid it like the plague! They're post op so they may want to approach it with caution... -
February Surgery ?
Puffy-no-more replied to PSquared_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone I have a question. Probably TMI so I apologize in advance. I’m on day 6 of my 10 day pre-op diet. It’s not liquids only like others. I can have a certain amount of fruit, yogurt and sandwich meat per day for each meal. I can also have unlimited amounts of foods like pickles, celery, cucumbers and so on. But y’all, I have had straight diarrhea for the past several days. Did anyone else experience this? I don’t feel sick to my stomach but I have diarrhea several times a day. Just wondering if this is a normal thing. -
I wil be following this closely. I have never took a birth control pill, ever. We have even been told I will probably never conceive - but now I am being told I am responding so well to the weight loss (it has only been 2 months post-op but I was loosing since January '11) that they are concerned my body may reverse "whatever" it is doing. I have not even fully transitioned to daily mushies yet, so this really scares me - that would be so bad for a child! TMI but Hubby is like "what??!!!" when I handed him a sleeve of his own...so that isn't going to last in the long run (and is wayyy not effective enough).

I am wondering if anyone else went through this. I am 13 days post off and have severe constipation. Nothing worked suppositories miralax colace benefiber. This is tmi but my spouse had to Manuel remove my impacted stool. Well its out now but extreme pain. What are some other choices? Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app

Anyone else have (sorry for tmi) very loose stool almost like diarrhea? I have since yesterday. Will call Dr tomorrow. Also has anyone weighed themselves? I figured since I’ve had nothing but liquids and they’re going through me I’d have lost something. Well folks I am 6 pounds UP. I’m not discouraged yet as I am still swollen. But it was a bit of a kick in the shorts.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters
synicalchick replied to AshevilleEddie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
[quote name=Speaking of poop (nice segue, huh?), has anyone else had a problem with constipation? At the risk of sharing TMI, I'll just say that I had a very difficult time going to the bathroom on Saturday. That's extremely unusual for me. The only thing I can think of is that I had been eating a lot of cheese (well, a lot proportionate to everything else I was eating) and not drinking enough water. quote] Once a day I eat the Gerbery baby food prunes in the resealable plactic container and I haven't had the issue in the almost 4 months that I've been banded. Give it try! T -
100+ Positive Reasons to get the Lapband and outcomes
SkinnyMiniMe replied to SkinnyMiniMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TMI I know but... No more digging bras or and disappearing undies. Nothing worse then bruising bras and hurtful wedgies.. -
I had 5 scars from my gallbladder removal in November. They were not able to use any of those scar sites. I have five scars. One below my bra line in the center. One a little to the right and below it, another to the left and further down. I have one scar on each side of my bellybutton. The one on the left is about an inch wide, the one on the right is two inches and is where they must have crammed the tubes in because that one is very sore. That area inside feels a lot more pain as well. It's tough with the waistline incisions because my fat rolls over them when I'm sitting so they don't get the same amount of breathing space. TMI? Sorry.

Well, my ah-ha moment is not a poignant one, but a practical problem. I hope this isn’t TMI, but my moment was when I had to figure out a new way to wipe my behind because I could no longer reach. :sneaky: I was appalled that I couldn’t normally perform a function that was necessary to everyday life. I immediately thought about some of the folks on Big Medicine who are bedridden and totally dependant on another person to take care of them. I realized then and there that I was heading in their same direction, even though it was far down the road, I was heading straight for it. I decided to get while the getting was good.

Will Shoulder Pain Ever Go Away??!!!
LittleGirlBlue replied to Cindyjoe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting... We are learning every day. I realized today that stress can trigger left shoulder pain for me. I've seen some people post about stress making them feel tighter and/or they can't eat as much when syressed. Just wondering if that cam push on the phrenic nerve. I know if I have waited to long to pee (sorry if this is TMI) the pressure and fullnes pushes on enough internal stuff that I have left shoulder pain. I'm 3 1/2 months out. Please keep updating- I like learning about what each of you experience. -

January and February 2017 sleevers!
PrettynSpirit replied to BubblesOhSoSleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the kindness! I had the surgery Monday and survived it I am now a loser LOL!!! I was able to leave the next day, I was unable to conceptualize "just get your liquids in" versus Protein until I wasn't s fuzzy from those meds. I cannot get Premier Protein down right not and was freaking out about it too! As far as pain the area where the most work was done by my surgeon stings and the rest of my stomach feels like how it did when i was a little chubby gal running too much and too fast so as to catch up with everyone. (TMI) was so worried about the gas which I avoided with all the tips! But it is constipation that's trying to make me get all teary along with a visit from an unexpected aunt Flow it'll be okay tho but not without a fight!
