Constipation with extra protein?
planetheather replied to gastricsleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh heavens, yes! I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and have had real "dumping syndrome" problems until my WLS 3 months ago. Actually until 4 months ago when I went on the pre-op diet and also cut out coffee. I will tell you that there are days I wax poetic about the loss of dumping syndrome. But that's not everyone. Some people get dumping syndrome after WLS. I have not. I do make sure I get at least 70 oz of Water a day and that helps. I saw a good post about someone adding dehydrated veggies to their diet to help with regularity. I know a lot of people use Fiber products to help. I haven't been so uncomfortable yet that I've tried it. But I'm tempted on the weeks when I'm stalled on my weight loss! I know--TMI. -

Karliy, same here- no drive! My poor boy has been very patient with me. Nothing's wrong with you. I'm so tired and don't feel sexual at all but the boy is staring at me wanting some action. I'm glad he's a good man and didn't get pushy with me. I finally gave in and had sex last night (sorry if that's TMI) and it was great! Maybe you just need some more time. I know I did- a LOT of time. Being exhausted doesn't make for a great romp in the bedroom. I didn't notice any difference in fluids thankfully -
May be to much TMI.. I had my period right before surgery it stopped the day before. I then had my period this month and it ended around 12/10.. Then I started spotting today. Is this common. I have lost 40 lbs or so... Not sure if that is causing it. Anyone else?

Does anyone else get food stuck in their throat?
MB0116 replied to MB0116's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It gets stuck right behind my thyroid (where my Adam's apple would be if I were a man. Originally I'd thought mt thyroid was swollen and causing an obstruction. So it doesn't get down very far at all. In fact if I just stick out my tongue the food comes back up. Sorry if that's TMI. -
Well the scrambled egg with a small amount of shredded cheese & tablespoon of cottage cheese didn't sit well. Instant pain after eating it ( not sure if I ate too fast?), a little came back up (tmi sorry). Any ideas?

*Gastric sleeve diet* (without surgery)
planetheather replied to Maccurdyerica's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@Maccurdyerica You are most welcome. After all the help this site has given me, I am happy to have had the chance to help someone else. I will add that in addition to strictly following the "sleeve" eating plan, I was lucky enough that I worked from home. This is probably TMI, but I spent the winter working in a sports bra and pair of shorts. About every hour, I would be freezing again and would run down to my exercise bike and do a few minutes to warm up. At first I could only do 5 minutes and I worked my way up to 10 minutes every hour. I'm sure that helped keep my metabolism up. Good luck! -

Not TMI at all but awesome! Healthy sex is just that... healthy. Hope you had a good time and this starts the process in healing the bad body image a lot of us hold in our minds about ourselves. -
So I dont hve a date yet, getting close. Doing research still and I hear about the horrible gas pains. So.. I must know, is it gas or do u poop and have relief for a bit? Is it ongoing like u wanna die? Or is it like spasms and contractions? I heard 1 girl say she used a firm smll pillow to rest her incisions on. Wondering if that would while u tried to use the bathroom.. Please, any feedback is much appreciated thank u

Warning: the following post has TMI So, surgery is on Friday (!!!!!!!) with Dr Ortiz, and we are flying out in two days. But, wouldn't you know it, I started my period today. I'm very irregular and have no idea when it's ever gonna hit, and of course it comes today. So my periods go like this: so my heavy days are always days 3 and 4, which means surgery day. Anyone else have this issue? What do they do? I usually use tampons, but can I do that? Do I need to go buy pads? This seriously blows. -
Well, after 3 years on my own following the break up of a 30 year relationship, at the weekend I finally got naked with someone I have lusted after for years.... He didn't run away screaming at my wrinkly, saggy bits. I took my clothes off - ALL OF THEM!!!! And the world didn't end, he didn't laugh and I didn't die of embarrassment. Something for me to add to my list when people ask how my sleeve has changed my life - I can do naked :-))))))) Sorry if is is tmi, but I actually never thought at 52 that I could throw my clothes off with such abandon and without stressing -oh how I love my sleeve!

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

-------As I write this note to you my new belly is in bubble heaven. I also have the runs today (TMI I know). Today is day 4 post op. can't wait to have some puréed hot cereal just not sure what flavorings I'm permitted. Will see my surgeon and NUT on thurs dec 19 if I'm off pain meds by then. Hope the runs isn't worse with purée stage but I'm assuming it will be. Incision pain is tough but nothing compared to the hiatal hernia repair work, I feel it more than anything. May have to extend my leave due to the hernia recovery and not the VSG -- crazy. My surgeon only needed to use 2 medium incisions and 2 tiny ones to get the work done; thank God! See belly Pic below. Already Sick of broth and sugar free jello (yuck)--- only like room temp water and ice chips -- sf Popsicles are ok if I lick very very slowly. Diet green tea room temp is ok and warm ginger tea is tolerable. Not sure how much I weigh now or how much I've lost but my family says they already see a loss in my face 4days out. Guess drinking only liquids for 5 days and fasting completely for 1 day will do that lol Feel Better soon! I pray that our 16-ers are recovering well or waiting patiently. -
quick question ladies. at 31 years old i have always had normal periods since i was 14. i had my period nov 1 and then like clockowrk after my surgery (11-12-13) i had it again on dec 1st but on sat and yesterday ive noticed some spotting, nothing coming down just a little there when i wipe? i wouldnt be expecting it again til the week of jan 1st.... anyone experience this so early out from surgery? could it just be my hormones adjusting?

Dr. Scott Robbins -Dothan Alabama
Gardnergirl2 replied to Autumn2013's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi! I am about to give TMI here, but yes, I did my injections. They burn a little, but not bad. For some reason, between the surgery and lovenox, my TOM came faster. I wasn't sure whether to continue the shots or not...(this was post op). Im a big Auburn fan and Dr. Robbins is a Bama fan. I told him I was glad he wasn't operating on me when that last play of the Iron bowl was happening lol. But back to lovenox, it wasn't that bad really. a little burn. I did feel like crap the first day or two after surgery, but that is to be expected. I also am allergic to surgical glue and had a bad rash where my incisions are.....But, all in all, it was not bad. I remember being wheeled into the operating room and seeing the big lights over me....and then.......nothing untiil I woke up. I was horse when I woke up bc of the tube -
I joined the YMCA. I'm not a "class" type of person. I like to go in, do my work out and leave. I am the whitest white girl you've ever met - meaning I cannot dance, so I don't do Zumba or any of the classes. I normally walk a mile around the track, then I do 10 sets of 10 on most of the machines. I'm trying to concentrate on my abs, thighs and "bingo arm". Then I do 15-20 minutes on the stationary bike, then another mile or so on the track, then I treat myself to weighing in in the locker room before I go home. They have all kinds of classes, but again - I'm just not into any of it. I can feel a HUGE difference in my body. This might be a little TMI, but my husband says that my body/sex has really changed since I started working out. That thigh master is amazing!

One week ago today, I was at work waiting to leave for my 11:30 surgery. I'd decided to go to the office because it was easier than sitting here waiting.... It's been an interesting one week journey, and I sit here drinking my oh so delicious Carnation Instant Breakfast. (That's sarcasm by the way.) Thought I'd share my observations, they are very random and sometimes TMI! 1. I have cabin fever. Yesterday I did a lot, but today is a blank agenda. I'd love to go out, but my street is like a skating rink. Fear of falling outweighs the cabin fever. Have this image of my gut splitting open while I'm laying on a cold bed of ice. Don't want to go there. 2. Speaking of my gut part 1. It looks like an evil rainbow. I have yellow, blue, purple, green splotches everywhere. No red or pink though! Have 2 hematomas, one where the drain was, and the other dead center under my belly button. Evil rainbow it is. 3. My gut part 2. I carry all my weight in my belly. Frankly I have great legs. My feet look skeletal. (Do you lose shoe sizes with wls?) Checking that out in a bit. Meanwhile, my belly is like a basketball on top and a swim ring on the bottom. Not pretty. I want this gone. Note to self-look up losing belly fat that doesn't involve a tv infomercial. 4. Mindful eating is a wonderful thing. I really need to focus when I eat. (Well, drink at this point). I forget to sip and take 2 gulps and I feel it. Boy do I feel it. No more glugging water! 5. If you told me a month ago I could survive without my morning coffee I would have told you it is impossible. Actually, I'm doing okay without it. Miss it though. 6. Speaking of eating and drinking, so far I haven't had to deal with the 30 minute rule yet, but I think it will be difficult to keep in mind. 7. I haven't logged on MFP cause I'm tired of seeing. "You're in starvation mode....." Cut me a break here okay. I decided after the one week lapse, I'd start again today. Give me strength to do this. 8. Mostly I'm pain free, but occasionally get these weird stomach pains. Can't describe them. Rolling, clutching. ouch? It's centered where my stomach was. Then I usually pass gas from one end or the other. Heading into TMI land. 9. Someone here has a list that states, "Never trust a fart." I can attest to it's validity. Nuff said. 10.I'm disappointed that my hunger isn't gone, but from reading these boards I realize that it will get much better once I can start some solids. 11. These boards are a life saver. They are amazing, and I am overwhelmed by the support, compassion, and occasional tough love I see on here. I value each and everyone of you that shares your story on here, and helps each other out. We are comrades on this battle to fight our obesity, and gain better health. I'm thrilled to have you at my back. Now for a nap!

I'm starting day 3 of my 9 day pre opt diet. When I was eating my usual high calorie, high fat, high sugar, high carb etc diet I poo between 3 - 4 times a day. Now I'm going once a day and (sorry for the TMI) it's a bit of a strain to get it out and it isn't very much. I'm a little surprised because I'm drinking so many fluids that I assumed I'd be having even more frequent, soft/liquid stools (like diarrhea). How about you guys that are on the clear liquid diet (broth, Protein shakes, Jello, SF popsicles) diet like me? Are you experimenting irregularity compared to your own diet? Are u taking any kind of laxatives or stool softeners? I'm debating if I should call my nutritionist or wait it out.

It will be 4 weeks tomorrow since my surgery. I have been stalled for 2 weeks. I think one of my problems is I do NOT go to the bathroom (sorry TMI). Can I take milk if magnesia? I heard it could expand my stomach?? Just want to make sure.

Fabulous February Post-Op's
Cecilia replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Hello everybody! I lost you all for quite some time! I wish the old website had sent me an email or something proactive telling me to migrate over and how to find the posts I was following! Nevertheless, I'm here, and I'm jazzed. I have an update for all of you. I hit a nearly intractable plateau at around 170 lbs (on a 5'8", large boned, pear shaped frame, for reference). That was a happy size 12 bottoms, but still overweight according to BMI, even though my medical team considered me a success. I noticed that I was starting to just "eat normally" without much regard to what I was putting in my mouth, and I could maintain. But I still want to get to my personal goal of 155. I also noticed some other emotional stuff that caused me to seek out a DBT therapist. I've been going for a couple of months, and we've begun to peel off all sorts of onion layers, so to speak. One of the core principles of DBT is "mindfulness," and one of the challenges she gave me was to be more mindful of what I'm putting in my mouth, so I started recording my intake on MyFitnessPal. Not trying to "be good" or anything, just writing down every office cookie and candy cane I snarfed, every latte and handful of pretzels. ... well. Lo and behold the scales just whooshed, and I'm starting to lose again. I realized I had a certain amount of anxiety about losing more weight, even though I want to, you know? It doesn't make sense, but there you have it. A fun revelation is that the smaller you are, the less weight loss it takes to drop a size, so now I'm looking at new slacks for work again (the loose 14's are falling off my flat ass) and I've had to buy new bras. Again. AND I'm suddenly aware of how I've been depriving myself of the right amount of Protein as well, and fluids. I've had two bladder infections in the past few months, and I chalk it up to not being able to pee enough after sex to (sorry, TMI). Interestingly, I've found that I can eat steak again!!! I get 6-ounce New York Strips. I cook one up and have half for one meal, and eat the other half cold at the next meal, like beef Jerky, or on a salad. It's so YUM!!! I can't believe I used to pound down an 8-oz steak, AND a baked potato, AND bread all in one meal! Yeesh! Anyway, I'm looking foward to hearing updates from all of you, and I'm looking forward to meeting with the medical team in February and wowing them with my continued weight loss. Hugs and Happy Holidays to all of you losers! Cecilia -
So this might be TMI, especially for the guys, but I'm having my first cycle since having surgery in Nov. I'm in so much pain, I can't get out of bed. I don't have PCOS and yes, I've had cramps but never this bad. I'm in pain almost everywhere in my body, extremely fatigued and almost feel like my blood sugar is low (shaky to the point where it feels like you are going to crawl out of your own skin). I've been doing ok keeping up with my fluids and protein this week so I really don't know what is going on. Has this happened to anyone else? It just doesn't seem normal to me as I've had bad cramps with all my cycles.

TMI... Things that are stuck I've been able to get back out by massaging and pressing gently on my pouch.

Constipation, BM and other embarrassing stuff
Idlewood4 replied to Donna22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 days out,and I have the same problem. Hospital said narcotic pain killers are a big culprit. I am trying to keep the clear fluids goings, and stay hydrated. I'm walking. Starting yesterday, (once I was home and wiih Dr's. okay I started a stool softener, and a gummy Fiber chew. I'm letting the fiber chew melt in my mouth before I swallow it. I also moved to liquid Tylenol which seems to be managing the pain ok. Moving into the TMI category, I have passed some gas, and just a little liquid poo-twice. Labels said it could take 12 to 36 hours to work, so I'm just hoping. That's actually the cause of my worst pain right now. Good luck everyone. -
I am having a huge problem. I have been on my period since my surgery 7 weeks ago. On again, off again, just never completely stopping. I have lost about 40 pounds, and I was thinking that this could just be hormonal stuff from surgery. I was hoping that would have let up by now. I lost 60 pounds previously and my cycle evened out and happened on time monthly. It hasn't been heavy or abnormal but I'm worried and so tired of this! Could I be anemic or something? Does anyone else have this problem? So sorry to for the subject!
