    Super Saturday Weigh In

Thank you for the positive vibes, nursebetty!! You worked magic for me The 3 week stall is broken...whoohooo!!! Last week 285, today 278! 7 lbs!!
  2. I noticed that my (almost 3 week) stall happened when I started incorporating food back into my diet! Just before 3 weeks I started having yogurt, refried Beans and scrambled eggs... Then BOOM... The weight loss stopped! I figured the body went into give me give me mode after not eating for almost 3 weeks and was trying to keep all those nutrients which caused a weight stall! Guess what I did yesterday?? I ate MORE! 3 meals! A full yogurt for Breakfast, as much refried beans as would fill my tummy without being over full (2 full spoons maybe a tad more) an iced coffee at Hastings and then about 15 beans out of a cup of Wendy's chili (beans and liquid only) then I weighed and tada.... 2.5 lb loss!!! Yep! I think I noticed the most inches lost was during the stall too! I have not yet freaked out about the sleeve, I just keep listening to my body and adjusting to what she is saying!
  3. A stall is sooo frustrating, isn't it?! I'm 7 wks out tomorrow & I had a 3 week stall that started around 3 wks. I was feeling so discouraged. I went to see my surgeon this last Monday & he seemed perplexed....asked about my eating, exercising, etc. Had zip for suggestions! So, I had been at 285 for weeks & then Tuesday I weighed myself & it was 281. Today it's 278!!!! I could do cartwheels I'm soooo happy!! Hang in there! Seems like the body makes up for lost time..... 7 lbs in 4 days is a good indication
  4. 198!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been at 201 or 202 for 3 agonizing weeks. I am posting this for all the others enduring long stalls. I guess it really does finally move when it is ready! When you are only about 10 weeks out, a 3 week stall can really make you start to doubt things. I think Onederland feels even more amazing since I had to wait so long for it! For all the other stallers out there.... you are not alone and hang in there!!

    Any Regrets?

For the first 4 weeks I had many days where I regretted it. I was throwing up daily, it hurt to even drink & to add insult to injury I had a 3 week stall. I felt like I'd made the biggest mistake in my life......BUT I'm 6 weeks out now & these last 2 weeks have been soooo much better & the stall has ended & I'm down 40 lbs & feel so much better! I can't wait to see all the amazing things my future holds!!!

    No Weight Loss

You are not done and it is probably just a stall. I would try either adding more calories or cutting a little. Drink more water and eat more protein. I thought that I was done after 2 months and a 3 week stall but then it started to fall off again. You body is an amazing machine and sometimes it just needs a little adjustment

    Wls 2/13. Scale Isn't Moving:(

Some of the most noticeable "loss" according to my hubby was while I was in a 3 week stall...I didn't loose any weight but I lost inches. Do your jeans seem loose? Did you know your waist size before? I bet you have lost inches if not lbs.
  10. Omg I am so so happy 6 pds this week after 2-3 week stall up and down yessssssssssssss !
  11. 1 month ago today I was sleeved and have had a great experience. Thank you to everyone on here for sharing questions and answers. I don't know what I would do without this board. I hit my 3 week stall a little early and still seem to be in a stall for weight loss. I am not concerned since the pants I just wore last week are sort off falling down today so I know I am losing inches. woohoo! I was wondering how long your first stall lasted?
  12. Holy balls. I have always had bad cramps, but TOM started a few days ago, like clockwork, no surprises (thank goodness), but the cramps are awful! Ahhhhhhhh! I just tried to take some tylenol, it still takes me a few trys to get medication down, so now I am sitting in my cubicle at work, feel stuffed full of the water I gulped, and crampy... please tell me the cramps get better as months go by?!
  13. At almost 7 weeks I finally hit my 3 week stall! Am I concerned about it? Nope! Because I know that it's normal and temporary and that this is my body's way of catching up with my almost 40lb loss! So while the scale may not be moving, my pants are starting to REALLY sag. That sounds like a kick-ass NSV to me!
  14. Yes, stalls so frustrating. I had my first 3 week stall beginning at week 5. Then I had one every month. I'd stall for weeks, then lose several pounds very quickly. Someone asked my surgeon at a support meeting about stalls and all he said was yes they are frustrating and it's not clear why they happen when we eat so little food early on, but they do. Just stick with it.
  15. I appreciate this post/string as I too (like Spatters3) have been thinking the past few days "I'm going to be the 1 person the VSG doesn't work for!!" And have been pretty frustrated because I am following my Dr's. diet plan to the 'T'. Have since the week prior to surgery (2/13). So it dawned on me this a.m. "is this the 3 week stall I've heard about?" At first I thought it was just because it was that time of month, so I figured I wouldn't lose any then. But seriously!!! When you're only having maybe 400 calories a day, and it's all good stuff, and you're drinking Water, walking, Protein, Vitamins, etc.........if feels like this WEIGHT SHOULD BE COMING OFF FASTER!! I know...I know... Patience Mary. I am thankful for what I've lost so far (20 #) but I must admit, this past week I haven't lost but .5 pound and it can get to you when you're watching everyone else eat all this delicious stuff you're used to but can't have now and yet still not losing. Maybe I'm gaining by osmosis....watching others eat the good stuff. Yes I know I've got to snap out of this mental funk!! :-) Crossing my fingers if I just 'stay the course' it'll start melting off soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best thing so far: having control over my urge to overeat. u just can't. it's as simple as that. Worst thing so far: not really anything, unless my weak self says 'smelling the popcorn and brownies I can't have.' Note to self: MUST REMEMBER THE END GOAL. MUST REMEMBER THE END GOAL. MUST REMEMBER THE END GOAL.
  16. Yay! I broke my almost 3 week stall by losing 5 pounds since Tuesday! AND it's my 1st 20 pounds down since surgery!!! I am so happy Just thought I'd share
  17. I have a sip or three of liquids when I eat - Not always, but sometimes. I cannot stand being thirsty. I certainly don't chug. It's hard because since I eat so slowly, one meal blends into another. I also have a few sips of club soda mixed with fruit juice on occasion. It hasn't stalled me at all so far. I got the 3 week stall, but that is a Water retaining, glycogen issue. I have been losing about .7 pounds a day.

    Encouragment

I am right there with you!! I was sleeved on 2/16/12. And on my 12th day post op, I was down 16lbs. And my scale and been going up and down 1-2 lbs...but basically staying put!!! I know I am retaining water...so I TRY to drink more, but it seems like the more I drink the more I retain!! I have really been pushing the protien too... but nothing is making a diffrence!! It is very frustrating and completely discourging!! I was so worried about the "3 week stall" and was crushed when mine became a 2 week stall!!! Totally not good for my cofidence and esteem!! I am praying this hump is over quickly!!!
  19. I would love to hear of from some people that have started off slow losing then it all started turning around. I do not think I am talking about the 3 week stall, It is more like the feeling that you might not believe you ever are going to lose any weight. I can not even imagine it. I am almost discouraged! I am almost 4 weeks out,I started off rather well ,the first week but since then have just teetered up and down 2-3 lbs. I know I will lose, I am doing all the right things but I feel like I am the only one experiencing this, it is so frustrating. I could really use some others experiences with this. Thank you.
  20. Oh Tracey, the much-dreaded 3-week stall is just a week late for you. Search this site for "three-week stall" and you will feel so much better--we all have it in one way, form, or fashion. It will pass. Just keep doing what you're supposed to do and hang in there. The time AFTER the stall breaks is some of the fastest loss you'll experience, so fun times are ahead!

    Only 2 Pounds In A Week :(

I agree with the others. LOSE the word "only" from your vocabulary. Pre-surgery, if you had lost 17 pounds in 17 days, you'd have been dancing on the ceiling! All of us would have been! There is a 3 week stall that most sleevers experience. You may just be starting yours a few days early. Our bodies are recovering from major surgery and from a major lifestyle change for most of us. It takes a bit for the body to adjust to the new normal. Don't worry, you WILL lose weight, and very quickly, but it won't be overnight. Think about how long it took to gain the weight. It will definitely take awhile to lose the weight. Once you are back on regular food, it will seem a little less intimidating to get in your Protein and Water each day, plus you'll have more energy for exercising, which will help the weight loss. Toss the scale and concentrate on getting your water and protein in each day. Look for the NSVs like your clothes getting looser and the amazing spike in energy that most of us experience. Look to some of the sleevers who have made it to goal and read their stories. NONE of them got to goal without a few glitches along the way. Some lose slowly, very slowly. Others have had long stalls where they didn't lose anything for weeks. What they all have in common is that they perservered through those stalls/slow losses and continued to drink their water and eat their protein. Oh, and that they all made it to their personal goals! This is definitely a journey rather than a sprint. I'm over 80 pounds down and I know there's no way I'd have made it here without Rex, my sleeve, helping me. I have a long way to go, but I WILL make it to goal. I've promised my surgeon and myself that I'm going to be one of the poster children for weight loss! You will be one too!!

    Help :(

It IS very frustrating and we all totally get it. Its that dreaded "I didn't go through all this to just lost 30lbs" I am just coming out of the same 3 week stall (lasted about a week and a half) so have faith in your decision and just know it'll start up again. My surgeon and doc said that I probably won't lose at the same rate I did in the beginning, but then 25 lbs in three weeks they considered losing to fast. (I didn't!! but they did) so they said that the rate I am losing now is much healthier. Its still coming off quickly, but not at 2-3 lbs a day. Just remember your body is in shock and you have to give it time to heal. Remember to take care of yourself! Good luck!

    Help :(

Definately hit the 3 week stall hon-same thing with me. Don't panic your doing great! It'll pass, focus on staying hydrated and eat your three meals, work out and your stall will pass. GL

    Help :(

The dreaded 3 week stall strikes again!! You are NOT done losing weight!! Don't even let yourself think that! This is a great time to take your measurements and see if you are losing inches. If you didn't take them before surgery, then do it now and watch those inches shrink! I lost my first pants size during a stall. I was frustrated by the darn scale and, while I was getting dressed one morning, my pants fell off my booty! That's when I realized that there are lots of NSVs (non-scale victories) to be found. If your clothes are getting bigger and you are more able to do things, then you are still getting the benefits of the sleeve, even if the scale isn't moving. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. It's definitely true! If you are exercising, even walking and very light weights, then you are building muscle. Even if it's a tiny bit of exercise, it's more than you were doing before surgery and your body responds very quickly to that little bit of exercise. Believe me, I don't work out intensly and I'm seeing HUGE results from my 30 minutes of walking per day and my 3 pound hand weights 3 times a week! At just over 5 months out, I'm seeing definition in my arms and legs, plus my weight is redistributing itself into more feminine lines, instead of the sponge-bob squarepants look I had before! Put the scale away, get out your measuring tape and work on drinking your Water. You will start losing again, and very quickly! Good luck!!

    Help :(

Try not to worry. I had the same problem with my water intake. It was either one or the other but hard to do both. But as time has passed I've gotten better at getting it all in. As for the stall. No worries most of us went through the "3 week stall". It sucks because it really messes with your mind but try not to worry too much. In time it will get better. Good luck!
