  1. Sounds like you're truckin right along! Protein powder (genepro) in soup broth and 1 oz Sugar free jello shots made with the same protein powder (had 2 grams each) kept me alive the first 5 days when putting anything in me felt like a mistake. Have you tried these? You will be amazed at the week marks and how much better you feel. One week was a huge difference. Then two then three. Today I ate 2 ounces of ground chicken and peanuts in a thai broth and for the very first time I did not feel uncomfortable afterwards. Normally I get the "too full-not ready for this" feeling. Not today. Today is my 4 week mark. I have been approaching this like a rebirth. Relearning now to eat and considering the first 8 weeks to be a time I expect to feel badly. I'm halfway thru and today is a good day. Hope it is for everyone else as well. It's also the 5th day in a row of being 200 pounds. CRAZY! My bod doesn't want to let go of the 200s. Well... I think tomorrow is gonna be the day. ONWARD BYPASSERS!!

    Help.

I reccomend Genepro unflavored protein powder. You can put it in just about anything and a tiny scoop is 30g of protein. If you need help making a BM I reccomend dulcolax suppository because the first BM after surgery suuuuuuucccckkkkkkksssssss!!! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. For protein I use Genepro cuz its 30g of protein in 1 scoop. You can mix it into anything. Soups, oatmeal, coffee, water, etc. Pretty much anything. It has made it alot easier for me to get my protein requirements in because I am not a fan of sweets. I checked with my dietitian and she said it's good. 4. Hi everyone. I’m 3 weeks post op and currently in the “puréed food” stage of my diet. I’m having a really hard time having one single meal a day. I am tolerating tuna well so I’ll be able to have about 6 bites/3 quarters of one of those starkist packets over 40 minutes with slow chewing and long pauses. But truly no more than that a day. I’m meeting my protein goals with genepro in water and a protein shake daily. But I’m really struggling with food. Is this normal a few weeks out?

    I want to succeed

I can't stand most of the protein powders or pre mixed drinks because they're all sweet and take forever to drink so you feel like you're never meeting your protein requirements. I got Genepro it's an unflavored protein powder and you can put it in just about anything. It's a tiny scoop for 30g of protein and you can finish it in one sitting. Also walk walk walk as much as you can and it will help that gas sort itself out better. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

All I want to do is cheat on my diet

I can't stand the shakes because I'm really not a big fan of sweets. I just moved on to the soft solids stage of my diet and the hard part for me is separating liquids from meals. I reccomend Genepro protein powder because a tiny scoop is 30g of protein. You can put it in just about anything and it's amazing! And when you advance your diet there is a keto version of pretty much everything you crave. Hang in there! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I couldn't tolerate any of the protein powders until my nutritionist suggested Genepro. It is unflavored and, though others say it can't be tasted at all, it's a little thick so I mix it with Metamucil every morning. It provides 30g of protein. Sample several powders if you can.
  8. I am prepping some 2 ounce containers for my post-op clear liquids phase. I grew tired of messing with Jello and found that I could dissolve a half scoop of Genepro in a small amount of chicken broth. The total slurry mix fits within the 2 ounce container. That would give me 15 grams of protein per serving, which is WAY more than I doctor up with my Jello attempts. Perhaps a chemist could do better, but I am done. Any reason not to do this? I have 2 containers chilling in the refrigerator now as a test run. I assume it will separate a bit, but I could just shake it. I really like the taste of the broth and don't expect the Genepro to mess with the flavor, but I know the consistency must thicken a bit. Thoughts? Thanks!
  9. When you calculate how much unflavored whey power you'd need to make your own, this is cheaper. ISOPURE Zero scoops have 25g protein per scoop. Genepro has 20g per scoop. Just the protein powder costs more than case of GELATEIN20. I am using mostly during my clear fluid stage where it is hard to drink enough water protein drinks. 10. Hi everyone - I’m a little over 2 weeks post-VSG (5/15). Everything has been going great and I’ve already dropped 25# from my surgery weight. The problem is, I have ZERO appetite. I thought some hunger would begin to return as my body healed, but if anything, it’s declined further, because just the thought of eating anything, including sipping broth, gives me terrible waves of nausea. Yesterday, it was so bad, I dry-heaved into the toilet for 5 minutes, but nothing of course came up except water. I’m really struggling to get at least my protein in, sneaking scoops of Genepro into anything and everything, but it’s so hard because really the taste of anything except really cold, unsweetened iced pineapple black tea (yes I know, very specific 🤣) turns my stomach. So even protein water is a no go. And I cannot do protein shakes - something about the texture of that cold, thick liquid grosses me out to my bones ::shudder:: Has anyone else struggled with this? If yes, what did you do? Did it abate on its own?

  12. In 2014 we posted about a lawsuit brought against Genepro (Musclegen) by Syntrax (SI03 Inc.) for false advertising. We just received the following statement from Genepro (Musclegen): "With us winning the case for relief from SI03, we have now filed a counterclaim against them for false advertising and purposely filing against us in 2014 for personal gain with no basis for filing. We are confident that the courts will rule in our favor. The original suit has been incredibly detrimental to our business and we are now pleading to the courts for their help in rectification." I'm attaching some of the original lawsuit as well as the court's order granting a motion for relief. "IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Defendant Musclegen Research, Inc. 's Motion for Relief (ECF No. 53) is GRANTED. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Default Judgement (ECF No. 29) is VACATED." 70, Answer, Affirmatve Defenses, and Counterclaims.pdf 70-1, Exhibit 1.pdf 70-2, Exhibit 2.pdf 70-3, Exhibit 3-1.pdf 70-4, Exhibit 4-1.pdf 59 - order granting motion for relief.pdf

I am OVER the protein drinks, but I do use a scoop or a half of scoop of Genepro protein powder everyday, either in a smoothy, or mixed in food like beans, cooked veggies, soup, or eggs. It's got 30 grams of protein and only 58 calories. Like you, I can't get in 60 grams of protein without a little help.

    Protien

That's actually a myth. You body will utilize all the protein that it takes in over time. The part that people stick to is that it can only absorb so much in a time span. See the linked study on optimal anabolic response: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5828430/ Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but GENEPRO is junk protein powder whose owner was sued for faulty claims. If you read the fine print, it should say something along the lines that it is a magically fast absorbing protein that is equivalent to 30 grams of protein. It's bunk. Do a search on this forum for GENEPRO and you will find some really angry people who got suckered.

I'm 5 weeks out and I still use Genepro protein powder at least once a day. It's a tiny scoop of flavorless, fully dissolvable protein. I put it in water and mix it with some crystal light drops. One scoop is 30g. I will also mix it into other recipes (you can bake with it up to 400 degrees). So when I make ricotta bites I add a scoop or two. It helps just boost all the things I eat with extra protein.
  16. I had a hard time with the protein shakes - they were all sweet and blech. I ended up switching to flavorless, dissolvable protein (Genepro) and just mixing it in with my water (and then adding Crystal Light drops). Since one tiny scoop was 30g of protein, it made it a lot easier! I still can't drink the sweet protein drinks. I'm entering my 5th week post-op, so I finally get to do soft foods and more meats. Definitely excited for new flavors!

This is one egg , 1/2 Genepro protein powder, a handful of baby spinach, and a tbsp mozzarella cheese. The protein powder really fluffs up the egg. 148 calories and 25 g of protein. I ate it all except for a few bites.

Try an unflavored protein like Genepro and you can mix it in anything Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

Do you mix the Genepro with water first to dissolve it ? Or just put it in the liquid egg? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

This is a one egg omelette with 1/2 scoop of Genepro mixed in, a few slices of cooked yellow squash, and skim milk mozzarella cheese. (it kind of fell apart because I added too much water). It was good and I ate about 3/4 of it. It is 21g of protein and 166 calories, so a pretty good bang for my buck. I feel like I'm retaining some water, probably too much salt, so I'm going to concentrate on getting my water in the rest of the day.

Welcome! I had surgery 1/27 and had the same stall. And the same one pound gain! It will go away, I promise! Pick one day a week and weigh in instead of daily for sure! It's nothing you're doing wrong. It's your body adjusting! One pound is a good poop! Lol As far as protein, I have the worst time with protein drinks as well so have taken to putting Genepro in a morning green smoothie. Have you tried those? Or Genepro? It's flavorless and 30g of protein for 56 Cal scoop. I also put it in my oatmeal! I definitely eat most of my protein. My meals are pretty similar there days: meat and cheese, refried beans and cheese, chicken thighs, lots of seafood Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  22. I mostly used genepro and mixed it in to everything. Fairlife is the only premixed shake that doesn't make me nauseous since the surgery.

Morning smoothie time! (After the first pic I add 1 c of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and 1 scoop Genepro). This has become my staple and an easy way to get in protein, fruit, and veggies (and fluid) without rushing into actual food first thing on the morning, which has always been hard for me. I hate all commerical protein drinks but can handle this we'll and it's yummy! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

Same with me. I can drink my smoothie, no problem. My recipe is very similar, a handful of baby spinach, 1/2 cup mixed berries, scoop of GENEPRO, a splash of Fairlife milk, tablespoon of greek yogurt, and a splash of banana split sugar-free syrup. This smoothie will hold me until lunch time.

Wow that's nuts. I use a handful of spinach, around a cup of frozen fruit, about a cup of almond milk and my Genepro. It takes me an hour or two but I drink it while I work so I get side tracked. Maybe bc I'm rny things slide down super easy.? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
