I agree with Elcee.I know she is wise and mature at home but college brings another level of independence and testing boundaries.most colleges have healthy food choices but the most healthy high school students eat crap and gain weight in college.no matter what u pay for ,Pizza is delivered to ur door in late night study groups or parties .she already changed get mind about once.I would say let her get settled in and then go for it a year from now. With the new healthcare reform she can be on your insurance until 26(if ur in America) So I know you want the best for her and want her healthy.I pray she is truly ready for all the changes she will endure at once with the band and college.Goodluck to her and you :-)

I have heard that a couple of times. What's interesting is that it seems like overweight people have the most to say about it.it's almost like jealousy or something.anyway I like the way u handled it! Good luck to you !

LMAO at the college boy analogy .sorry I haven't had that problem but that is the right step and glad you are dealing with it early. So many people on here go months with a problem without dealing with it ! Good luck to you ! :-)...( still laughing at college boy SMH ) -

Dh Is Trying To Convince Me To Get Gastric Balloon...
bigenuff replied to kabeerah's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
I did Atkins for 6 months in 2006 lost 50 lbs .Although I did keep some habits like watching my sugar intake and eating more protein, by 2012 I had gained the 50 back plus 30 lbs. I think if u want another temporary " diet" to lose weight quickly then the balloon may work. But losing weight is not the problem. I have always lost weight over 3-6 months but gain it back cuz there was no maintenance or accountability.I'm hoping that the band helps with the accountability and maintenance .for me this " tool" is really put to the test AFTER the weight comes off.Good luck in whatever you decide!:-) -
I had mixed feelings about it.I didn't want to share in case I failed ( like my other attempts )but as the weight is coming off I find it easy to say how.I still have yet to post on Facebook but I am sharing with those who ask. It really makes for good conversation especially dispelling myths.and letting people know there are options.:-)

Easy Button To Goal Weight?
bigenuff replied to LadyMaggie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You have to eat right ( not diet) and exercise . The band helps decrease the amount of food u can take in at a time but you still have to work it! You have to make good decisions about what u eat.ice cream cookies chips sugary soda usually go through the band with no problem. U have to get moving.you may never do the new " insanity " work out video but getting that 1-2 mile walk in will be very beneficial ....so NO there is no easy button.some people lose quicker than others for reasons unknown but most successful people will tell you it is hard and you really have to make a lifestyle change -

Will Someone Please Show Me The Way To Sucess??
bigenuff replied to onmyway11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow ! Sorry to hear that:-/ My advice would be to make sure you follow the basic band rules. 1.no more than 1 cup of food per meal 2. Protein FIRST then veggie then carb if there is room. 3.no drinking with meals. 4. Small bites chew chew chew 5. 30 min or less to eat.what ever is left after 30 min.stays on the plate Also get checked make sure your band hasn't slipped or flipped. Good luck to you ! -
