I was banded 4/6/2012.had my first fill today. Dr.Shabatan (Lapband vip in So Cal) is amazing !! I was nervous not knowing what to expect and he walked me through the process tested my band resistance reminded me that I had his cell phone number and to use it !! I'm doing well .I have to stay on liquids for 24 hours.still a little nervous about eating tomorrow.:-/

Please be open and honest with your lapband doctor and Psychiatrist/Psycologist.drinking smoking and overeating might mean bigger problems.

I went to work 3 weeks after being banded .I'm a nurse.I have a private case.94 LB girl wheelchair bound.I did everything I normally do from getting her out of bed exercising her in and out wheelchair all day and lifting her in and out of shower.I was fine..As for hubby I would say being 500 lbs.u better make sure his insurance is paid IF he is eligible to even have it.I just got denied life insurance because of my weight .But I agree he is afraid of how AWESOME you are going to Look And How much more confidence ur going to have and all HIS friends checking u out !! But if ur already re evaluating ur situation then make that move it's only going to get worse as the weight comes off.Or worse he damages you enough to sabotage you and u end up 500 lbs like him......

Today was my first fill and he put 3.5 cc.he first over filled then had me sip water as he pulled back until the water went down with nonproblem.

Thank you ! Not being able to eat like yesterday is my fear.I just got in a groove the last week.now it has to change but hey I'm in this to be a big loser !! :-)

I must say I Love lapbanders !! You all were able to say why u chose lapband with out being mean about the sleeve.i went to the sleeve support group just to check it out and they were really rude nasty and angry at the lap band.I could not believe it!! It was like the lap band was thee person that objected at their wedding ! It was horrible !! I think most of us looked at all the options and chose what we thought was best for us.wether it was bypass,plication,sleeve or lapband. and no matter what we chose should all be commended for taking this huge step to get healthy. With that said I chose the band instead of sleeve becauses of the the statistics listed already,the adjustability,fear of my stomach restretching ,and my fear of having any part of me removed forever and ever :-) like others have said if this fails I may have to consider the sleeve but I will work to help my band help me !!

Swallow ur pride Go see ur doctor !! Your life deeds on it !! Stop trying to guess it could be something detrimental or it could be nothing but u Must see ur Doctor don't play with ur health like that.

I was told that the preop diet was to shrink the liver and make it easier tolerate since the liver sits in front of stomach.also the liver bleeds easily so if they nick it it can cause bleeding .

I had the same issue.I called the Dr asking if there was another way.They told me if I was really hungry I could have a small portion of protein once s day .so that's what I did rotated an ounce or two of chicken or fish aforementioned dinner and made it through it.

That happened to test ur strength.I ordered cookies from a lady at church back in early February before I was scheduled for my surgery.after it was scheduled I asked her when would the cookies be back she said should have them by April 8th.which happened to be 2 days after my surgery.I haven't been back to church yet but this Sunday I have to go pick up 2 boxes

They didn't give me a choice .I hound out after being banded that I have allergen band.

There is a lot of sugar free candy that u can get from CVS or rite aid.most of it is really delicious but reduced calories because of the sugar substitute BUT you still have to have valance ciz over eating sugar substitutes (sugar alcohol aspartame) can give u the runs .Also ATkins have great sugar free treats that have protein
