Consult tomorrow, chi Franciscan
SIPS in Seattle replied to Codedsub's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Who's your surgeon? I had Dr. Srikanth, who is affiliated with Chi Franciscan. His practice is the center for weightloss surgery. It's in the building next to the main hospital. I only have good things to say about Dr. Srikanth and his office as well as the nurses who cared for me in the outpatient facility at Chi Franciscan. They were all just wonderful -
what does a gallbladder attack feel like?
SIPS in Seattle replied to angyplus5's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had my gallbladder attacks the year after my lapband was placed. I initially thought I had slipped or something scary like that. The pain was severe to where I wasn't able to stand and walk upright. I crawled. Ended up calling 911 thinking I was dying, having a heart attack or something. Flash forward to 3 fire trucks in my front yard, 7 or 8 firemen standing in my living room with me unable to breath deeply or sit completely upright trying to hold my shirt up so the one guy could put the stickies on my bare chest (no bra) while the other 7 stood there an watched. I was in so much pain that I didn't give a damn. A week later my gall bladder was removed. It's all humorous to me now but I really thought I was dying at the time. The pain radiates from your stomach up your shoulder and down your back. So glad that bugger is gone, also glad my torture band was removed too (this year) -
Not the day surgery I thought!

I had the SIPS/LOOPS/SA-DI DS on 8/8. I can't give you specifics on success or not just yet. I am however down to 192 from my HW of 242 (SW of 226). This was a revision surgery for me from the lapband so I'm predisposed to being a slower loser. Good luck to you though -
Trying to decide if I should just remove my band, or convert
SIPS in Seattle replied to loridee11's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a band placed back in May 2011 (or was it 2010) did great at first until my gallbladder pitched a fit and had to be removed. It was a straight uphill climb after that. I started at 239 with my band, got down somewhere around 185 then shot back up to 242 when I consulted my surgeon about a revision. I didn’t have any major complications with my band, just couldn’t get back into the zone. I had enough when water started to get “stuck” and i would have to pb into a plastic bag while driving. Fast forward to 2017 at 242 I asked a different surgeon (due to location, still love my original surgeon) about a revision. 8/8/2017 I was revised from band to SIPS DS. No hospital stay, it was done in one outpatient surgery. As with almost all band patients I had a lot of scar tissue but my surgeon was able to remove the band and complete the DS in one. So thankful for that. -
1 ounce at a time
SIPS in Seattle replied to Sunnyday25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it for the first few weeks. I lined up 5 little one ounce cups and did laps around the house, downing an ounce with each lap. Refilled and kept going. It was the only way I could get up to 24-32 oz in the beginning. Especially those first 8 days without protein shakes. -
Probiotics After WLS
SIPS in Seattle replied to Danny Paul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took them before and stopped after surgery too. My surgeon however told me to start taking them again to help with staying regular which is such a pain after surgery. -
^ yes, small sips. And walk as much as you can (just around the house is fine) it will help with the gas. Good Luck

Could we be surgery date buddies?

8/8/17 here -
I totally feel your pain. I remember wanting time to just hurry up, and I too was/am miserable at my job. Having 6 weeks off was soooo needed. Your surgery will get here soon enough, then you'll be counting down the days until you can chew! Good Luck to you!!

What was the worse thing you had to deal with after your surgery?
SIPS in Seattle replied to niseys4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Initially it was my incisions not healing properly. But I'd have to agree with the above poster, constipation is also a pain (literally HAHAHA) to deal with. I've never really had this problem in my life! -
1 year surgiversary today and I weighed in.....

Congrats! That is fantastic and how cool is that timing! I'd say that's an awesome surgiversary present! -
I get hungry late night
SIPS in Seattle replied to tybellinya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get crazy rumblings late at night that feel like hunger pangs, I asked my team if it was acid and if I should up my omeprazole. They told me that it’s more likely bile reflux and to suck on a slice of lemon. -
Stepped on the scale this morning to 199.8. I know it's just barely into onederland but was just so awesome to see that 1!!!! Woot woot.

Sleeved 10/10/17 and incisions are hurting so bad!
SIPS in Seattle replied to amb052492's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was outpatient, I walked as much as I could stand it the first day. Helps get that gas out. Pain meds didn’t really help that pain from the gas, just the walking. I did use liquid hydrocodone at night just to be able to sleep. As far as incisions, I feel your pain. I am just two months out and still have the big incision which is finally scabbed over. Three had opened up after they long should have been healed. Down to one, finally! -
Stalls are such jerks!
SIPS in Seattle replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you for the feedback! 10lbs to goal is amazing. Congrats! -
I’m stuck in a slump. I didn’t have the dreaded three week stall but now at 8.5 weeks I’ve been stuck between 199-198. Since I started hitting the gym on September 22nd, since then nothing. And by hitting the gym I just mean treadmill/elliptical 45 min a day. I do see via pictures that things have changed since my heaviest I just wish the scale would “poo or get off the pot” [emoji23] Stalls are just jerks!

That makes so much sense. I’m going to have to start tracking this. Thank you! -
When were you brave enough to try on clothes in a smaller size? I want to see if some of the clothes in the far reaches of my closet fit but I'm hesitant... what if they don't! [emoji27]. Currently I'm still wearing tshirts and yoga pants. My body has never liked tight fitting clothing, makes me feel ill. I still haven't even put on jeans since pre op. Just curious when you (anyone) took the plunge and tried stuff on [emoji851] Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 206 GW: Healthy

Chi Franciscan - Tacoma, WA thoughts?
SIPS in Seattle replied to Codedsub's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
It was for me too, so having all that testing done in one day meant less time off from work. -
Chi Franciscan - Tacoma, WA thoughts?
SIPS in Seattle replied to Codedsub's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon is Dr. Myur Srikanth from center for weightloss surgery at Chi Franciscan. His practice is separate from the hospital but affiliated with it. All my testing and my surgery was done as an outpatient at Chi Franciscan. Love him. Great bedside manner. Had wonderful experiences with all my nurses pre and post op. My initial consult was March 2017, surgery initially scheduled for July but for personal reasons I had to push back to August 2017. Your consult to completion will be dependent upon your insurance requirements. Not necessarily the surgeon’s timeline. Chi Franciscan is also awesome when it comes to appointments for all the required testing. I was able to do it all in one day. (X-rays, blood, scans etc) Good luck to you. -

Oh! Lol yes next week will be on to the regular food phase. I can’t wait to try some chicken and some heartier veggies. -

Unfortunately no, I haven’t been so good about tracking. I’m still in the soft food phase until next week. I will make an effort to be better about tracking food. [emoji20]
