    Recovery for Singles

I don’t have any advice about the family...my personal experience with dogs is what I want to offer. 10+ years ago I had spinal fusion surgery and I was really worried about my two 80+ lb young golden retrievers hurting me. From the moment I got home, they were the most gentle amazing comfort to me. They shared our bed and not once did they hurt me. Our fur babies just seem to know when they need to take it easy with us. I would just be extra careful for the first few weeks with walkies, get a no pull harness or something. The pulling might harm your stitches. Good luck!

Blurred vision & major dry mouth

The scopolamine patch gives you wicked dry mouth. I’ve never had dry mouth like that before. I felt like I had been chewing on cotton balls in the desert for three days straight. Nothing helped. I was so thankful when it wore off.
  3. I have Aetna, I still had to jump through hoops for my revision. More testing than with my band but that is my surgeons requirements. I did the 3 nut visits and 3 mo supervised diet.. the usual Aetna stuff. But approval was quick and easy.

    B12

My doc has me doing 1000mcg shots once a week. I was so nervous giving myself a shot at first but it’s really not that bad.

Hair loss - when does it stop?!!!!!

I’m at 6 months post SIPS, my hair is long but thin and I’m losing tons. I read on one post that lack of zinc is also a contributing factor in hair loss. My 6 months labs show my zinc numbers have dropped, now I take 50mcg of zinc 4 times a day. I hope this starts helping soon.
  8. The before pics aren’t great, I hated the camera. Here’s to the next 6 months [emoji322] cheers Oh and happy Chinese New Year
  9. Congrats! I was so friggen happy to get rid of that torture device. So happy to get rid of the port and the aches and pains that it gave me. You’re gonna love your SIPS!

First Period in 15 months... now it won't stop

It happened to me but it was super duper heavy. I had an ultrasound they thought I had a polyp. Had a hysteroscopy done and it wasn’t a polyp but now they say I have adenomiosis. I guess she did a D&C, I got a new iud while under in order to help stop the bleeding. Now I’m just spotty. I guess adenomiosis goes away at menopause.

    I'm torn. Gastric or Sleeve?

When I had my revision I thought go big or go home too, I did the sips/loop DS. I have zero regrets. Whichever you choose, good luck to you!
  12. I’m at 6 months. Also similar stats with you. 5’6 highest weight was 242, I was 226 on day of surgery (8.8.17) I don’t count calories and only estimate ounces and protein. Currently 16lbs away from goal. I was a band to sips/loop DS revision so loss has been slower but expected. I plan on starting back at the gym... hopefully soon. I’m pretty sure I get over 1000 calories a day though. I don’t have any issues with foods I cannot eat or tolerate.

    Duodenal Switch

I had the loop DS too. Chose the loop over the traditional because I had less than 100lbs to lose.

    Random stomach noises

Yes hahaha I totally know what you mean. For the first few weeks it was super loud, 5 months out it has settled a bit. But yes, totally normal.
  17. Congrats!!! [emoji323][emoji898][emoji324][emoji322] you look amazing.
  18. I work from home, my doc put me out on short term disability for 6 weeks. I only used 5 weeks. I guilted myself back to work a week early.

    dreaming of rotisserie chicken

I have a love/hate relationship about chicken. Love the taste of Costco’s rotisserie chicken, hate the smell. Seriously the smell permeates everything. It has to be the last thing in the cart. My car stinks for days. I wasn’t like this before surgery.

    The D Switch surgery?

I know I won’t explain it correctly... this is my surgeons site. This is the information for the traditional duodenal switch. http://www.centerforweightlosssurgery.com/service/weight-loss-surgery/duodenal-switch He also does the single anastomoses duodenal switch too.
  25. It’s so interesting how different we all are. Just fascinating.
