  1. I received the call yesterday that my revision from band to DS is approved. I'm completely shocked as I thought it would be a battle for approval since my band took two appeals to get approval. I also keep waiting for them to call me back and say oops, that was another patients approval. It happened so fast. I got an email Tuesday saying that they were going to submit then by Friday got the approval. Can it be real? 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

    Revision APPROVED!

I didn't have any mechanical problems with my band. (I.e. No slippage or erosion) I did great the first year til my gallbladder had fits and had to be removed. Never could get back into the green zone after that and basically regained everything.

  4. I just got my approval call yesterday. Originally my doc said they were going to go for approval on 6/9 but I got an email on 6/13 saying that they were submitting that day. Got the call yesterday 6/16. I'm still in shock!
  5. Thanks@AceBlaque Fingers crossed for everyone 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
  6. I'm currently waiting for approval for revision band (2011) to DS. My surgeon says he's bracing for a fight because my band technically is still functioning, no slips and I was denied twice for the band in the first place. I just completed my three months visits, all the tests etc so now it's the waiting game. Doc wanted to submit last Friday (two days ago) so I don't know yet if that's happened. Fingers crossed.
  7. How do you get your metabolism tested?

6 month update with Pics -part 2

You look amazing! Your beginning stats are exactly like to mine (242 and almost 5'7) I hope I follow through with matching your stats after my revision. [emoji4]
  9. Wow, I had my gallbladder removed a year after lapband surgery and it was easier than the lapband for me. Mostly because I learned my lesson and walked for a hour before going home. I didn't do that with the band and suffered greatly. Both were outpatient same day surgeries (2011, 2012)

    Outpatient surgery?

I asked my surgeon (currently presurgery revision waiting for approval) he prefers outpatient. He said you heal better at home and there's less risk of infection.

    Lapband to VSG

I have the band, am looking into revision to DS. I have one more appt before they submit to insurance. I started at 239 down to 185 and back up to 242 in the past 6 years. My surgeon and I decided to go the DS route since revisions have a slower rate of loss and DS has better statistics in the regain category. My band was great the first year til my gallbladder decided it wanted out. After that it was a straight uphill climb. I can't wait to get this thing out!
  12. I'm planning on band to DS revision. Doc says no overnight stay if at all possible because he believes we heal faster and have less risk of infection while at home.

    Body Aches And Meloxicam

I had emergency surgery once... the next day my whole body hurt. I asked the doctor about it and he told me it was the anesthesia and something about our muscles tensing up. Sorry that was more than 10 years ago so my memory isn't 100% to remember the exact words.

    Lap band to bypass conversion

I'm currently in the process of revision from band to DS. My surgeon says that he wants to do it in one surgery and no overnight hospital stay if possible. He says you heal better at home with less risk of infection. I'm still one appointment away from him submitting to insurance. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

    Below 40 BMI buddies

My BMI is under 40, was denied twice for a lap band 7+ years ago then finally approved. Now I'm looking to revise... my BMI is back to where I started and I'm worried about being denied. Still have two NUT appts and one surgeon appt before they submit my paperwork. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
  16. I'm pre-revision but protein shakes I have trouble with too. They basically cause me to flush within minutes of drinking them. (I'm banded looking into ds revision)

Did anyone here not need this (yet)?

I was banded in 2011 and am currently looking into revision. I've talked to my surgeon about the sleeve and the ds. I'm 5'6 I started at 239 down to 185ish then back up to 242. So my bmi is still a little under 40. My surgeon thinks the Ds would be a better option as A) this is a revision and it's slower to lose the ds has a higher success rate at losing and less chance of regain. I don't really have any comorbidities... just crappy lungs (asthma)
  18. Thank you for posting this, definitely will be on my list. Mine look like your before.. and I'm back at my presurgery weight waiting to see if I can get a revision. All the yo yo up and down weight loss is so hard on the ta-tas

    Sore Tailbone!

This is the story of my life... I'm Asian and no matter how fat I get I still have a flat butt. Sitting always hurts me... I give myself bruises if I sit on anything hard for too long.... I hope you find a fix [emoji4]🤞🏼

    Pre-Op Clearances

I just had a whole host of tests today... ekg, echocardiogram, bone density, spirometer, abdominal ultrasound and they took 9 vials of blood. Now I have to do a 24 hour urine sample. Ugh!

    Revision... Aetna

Thanks I'm just nervous about it since it took multiple appeals to get it approved in the first place. [emoji22]

    Revision... Aetna

    Thanks Erica
  24. The upper GI sounds like the fluoroscope that I had to do with the lapband.. nasty liquid that they watched go through me via a machine that took pictures
