I long for purée.... still on the liquid for another 3 weeks. I don't get to start purée until week 5! So tired of sticky sweet and broth. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 217 GW: TBD

I'm pretty sure my itchies are related to the adhesives. I've always been sensitive to bandaids and such so until these buggers fall off... I'm using ice packs to help. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 217 GW: TBD

Thanks everyone. The itching is driving me batty and even making it hard to sleep. I'll try giving a little rub of coconut oil between the battle wounds (lol) Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 217 GW: TBD

SIPS in Seattle replied to jcarlson1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm post op day 5 - band to sips DS and I can attest to the walking to get the trapped air out. I haven't had a regular bm but starting day 4 I have had the liquid poos which it to be expected. Liquid in liquid out. Naps are my friend. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 221 GW: TBD -
New with date scheduled
SIPS in Seattle replied to RDBrown71's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I'm 4days post op still on the clear liquids. Protein shakes not allowed until 8 days post op. So it's just broth and liquids with electrolytes mostly. I tried a sf jello and couldn't finish it. No hunger, but I am tired. Naps are my best friend. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 221 GW: TBD -
Congrats! Good luck on your journey! I'm 4 days post op. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 221 GW: TBD

What to eat after your surgery because this diet is killing....
SIPS in Seattle replied to BiggSixxFizzle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It amazes me how different everyone's plan is. I'm three days post op. Clear liquids until week 2, no protein shakes until day 8... purée starts week 5 and normal solids not until week 9! Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6 HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 221 GW: TBD -
I'm fighting with fluids too. Doc wants 10 1oz cups per hour.... yesterday I maybe got a total of 30oz of liquid in. Today is day 3 post op for me. I'm scared of dehydration but it still hurts to drink. Sip sip sip

Today was the day! I'm revised!!
SIPS in Seattle replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Thank you so much, definitely needed to hear that today. -
Buh bye band, hello SIPS! Arrived at hospital at 5am, surgery started at 715a... was up and walking by noon. Had my cat scan and swallow test by 3, discharged by 530p and home a little after 6.... I'm super nauseated and sore but dealing ok. Now laying down in bed. I don't like this weird pulling feeling in my tummy and I am having a heck of a time completely emptying my bladder (thanks to the catheter) but I'm managing. BAND out SIPS DS in, one operation. I'm ready to get this journey on the road! Woohoo!!

Today was the day! I'm revised!!
SIPS in Seattle replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Thanks, today was rough for sure. I so hope tomorrow is better. I've been working on my liquids no where near where I need to be but I'm working on it. Every sip just hurts. Almost like hunger pains or gas pains I can't even tell anymore. I did manage to walk 4000 steps today too. Please let this gas and nausea go away!!! -

Thank you [emoji4][emoji173]️. I knew there was always a possibility it might come out as two surgeries. It all depended on how much scar tissue there was. Good luck to you [emoji4] -

I've been using vegan pea protein. I'm whey intolerant too. -
Protien Shakes help [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]
SIPS in Seattle replied to shalove's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't for the life of me stomach whey protein... gives me liquid poos for the entire day. Been using pea protein and that works for me even though I hate the taste. Amazon has a lot of sample size packs you can order to try versus buying a whole container without knowing if you like it or if you're like me and your body just rejects it outright -
New to the site
SIPS in Seattle replied to Geri Marie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Aetna POS II, scheduled for band to SIPS DS on august 8th. Hopefully a one and done surgery. For my band I had to do two appeals with Aetna but my revision approval was super fast and easy. I did three months of visits with my surgeon, 3 nut appointments and a whole host of tests per my surgeon's requirements. August 8th can't get here fast enough!! -
Revision... Aetna
SIPS in Seattle replied to SIPS in Seattle's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Mine did too, although I only had to do 3 months and some people quote 6. But my approval was super fast and easy. Good luck! -
Anyone been through a revision with Aetna? I currently have the band, I initially went from 239 to 165 back up to 239 +/- in the past 5 years. I just started looking into revision surgery and would love to hear your experiences. Thanks in advance

Also try adding in probiotics. They totally help my IBS issues.

Best WLS for my weight? Process?
SIPS in Seattle replied to MissBJones's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
There's also the duodenal switch, which has over a 90% rate of no more diabetes. My doctor said the majority of the patients who stop their diabetes meds for surgery never start taking them again. -
Anyone have lap band out/sleeve in one surgery as outpatient?
SIPS in Seattle replied to Allie1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is exactly what happened to my band. Was great until my gallbladder decided it was going to be a jerk. Once gallbladder was removed I could only gain weight, not lose. I hope it keeps getting better for you. [emoji173]️ -
August 8th here. But I will be a revision from band to DS. I've been taking centrum chewable multi, citrical (calcium Citrate), 2 - 2000iu vit D, 325mg ferrous sulfate 3x a day, 50,000 iu VitD once a week, and once a week 1ml shot of Vit B. Plus I had two iron infusions all during my preop testing phase. I'm so ready for this revision!

Anyone have lap band out/sleeve in one surgery as outpatient?
SIPS in Seattle replied to Allie1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow that sounds like an ordeal! I'm scared to find out how much scarring I have. I cannot wait for this band to gtfo. I have a hate/hate relationship with it. Is your gallbladder intact? I wonder if bile is an issue if you don't have a gallbladder...
