    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

UPDATE: Made an appointment today and saw my surgeon's assistant for my incisions. I always thought they were sealed via a glue. Turns out they were dissolvable stitches. Which did not dissolve and apparently I'm a bit allergic to like I am to adhesives. So she numbed me up and debrided the bejesus out of my open wounds. I go back next week and hopefully see some major improvements. The only good news is that they were not infected, just irritated. Woot!

    Trying on smaller sizes

Man I wish I was smart enough to save all my clothes from different size ranges. I've moved several times and every time I do, I purge old stuff. Blast!
  4. That's hilarious! I have no memory after being wheeled in and moving over to the table. I half woke up and vomited up the liquid pain medicine they were trying to give me.. then all of a sudden I was up and walking around...everything between wheeling in to surgery to when I was up and walking is a blur.

    Curious

I went for the SIPS DS, today is actually my first day back to work. My doc put me out til the 20th but I feel fine working today. I am having issues with my incisions but that is my only issue with the surgery. I'm too early in the process to give you nutritional advice or information so I'll hold off on that. Pain was manageable, honestly I could have went back to work even earlier but.. I didn't want to! The SIPS is a single anastamoses and my common channel is 300cm. I lost 16lbs preop and then 24lbs in the past month (since august 8th) Best decision I ever made! Good Luck with whatever you decide

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

I wonder if this is all due to the glue... my skin has never liked any adhesives, bandaids or surgical tapes etc

Ack! I don't know that I can scrub more aggressively. It gives me the heebie jeebies. I started scrubbing with hibiclens. I have an appt on the 18th so I'll just keep scrubbing and covering it up til then. 🤢. Other than it still being open, I'm not sure what other signs of infection to look out for... it's not warm to the touch, I have no fever... no odor, no pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

Nope, never had diabetes. Other than being obese I was generally healthy pre-surgery. Only thing I suffer from is a bad back and asthma.

    Shoulder pain from operative gas

Walk as much as you can. That's the only thing that will relieve the gas pain from the surgery. Since it's within your abdominal cavity gas x doesn't really help. Walk, then walk some more! [emoji4]

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

I have an appointment on the 18th already for my one month (after my two week surgical followup) so I know they will check them on the 18th. Just keeping them clean and covered until then [emoji4]

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

Thank you, I kept them covered today with non stick gauze and tape. I didn't even think about adding an ointment to keep them moist. Tomorrow I will add vitamin e oil. Or would A&D ointment be better?? Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated [emoji173]️[emoji4]

    Kinda Worried

Back in 2010 when I had my first consultation for a lapband [emoji1361] my surgeon was taken back that my bmi was as high as it was. At the time I was 5'6 and around 240. He said when he saw me that I didn't "look" big enough. He never treated me differently though even after stepping on the scale. He was an awesome surgeon that even did my gall bladder removal a year later. Point being, having a good relationship with your surgeon is extremely important. I would have had him do my revision in a heartbeat if I still lived in that area. If your talk with your surgeon doesn't satisfy you that he will give you the utmost care without judgement then I would find another surgeon. It's your health, your body. I do not know where you are in the world but there are several ways to locate surgeons. Good luck [emoji173]️[emoji256]
  14. I was outpatient too for my band to SIPS DS revision. I remember them giving me a pain med to drink that I immediately puked back up. Other than that I have no recollection of what meds I had before I was fully alert. I started walking around the halls as soon as I got my legs steady and didn't stop walking and sipping until I was released a few hours later. They gave me liquid oxycodone to go home with.

    I regret this surgery

When does the regret stage hit? I'm wondering if I got to skip out, I'm a month out tomorrow and don't feel any regret. I'm also dealing with incisions that have reopened and having to scrub them out while I shower with a toothbrush 🤢 I feel grossed out by it but not regret. No tears here thankfully.

Thank you. Keeping them covered between showers. Hopefully they heal quickly.

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

I scrubbed it this morning. I didn't vomit! It looks awful though. The "white" colored skin inside the wound made me gag. Now it's covered in gauze. 🤢

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

My surgeon didn't mention doing that. Only To scrub them when I shower then to cover with gauze.

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

I'll get there, I just can't stomach the thought at the moment. I just want it to close up and heal! Maybe this will scare my body to just seal it shut so I don't have to scrub it with a toothbrush! Here's hoping 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

    Trying on smaller sizes

I can completely see how this would make sense. I have jeans, I love my jeans... always been a jeans and t shirt kind of girl. Can't wait to buy smaller jeans [emoji158]

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

I know, I haven't been able to work up the nerve to do it yet. Right now they're all sealed up.. by this afternoon they will more than likely be opened. I'm so not looking forward to scrubbing them.

I need ideas for puréed foods

I just had the ricotta bake, today was my first day of purées. I added a couple slices of mini pepperoni for flavor. Was delicious. I made a mini pan and ate less than a quarter of it. Tastes like.. crustless pizza or noodleless lasagna. [emoji7] Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 206 GW: Healthy

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

Feedback was that they're not too concerned but to get a soft bristle tooth brush and scrub it when I shower then to cover it with gauze. The idea of scubbing it with a tooth brush is giving me the heebie jeebies!!! Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 206 GW: Healthy

    Trying on smaller sizes

I'm the same, I work from home too. I've never owned tailored clothes. Always been an off the rack girl. I did wear my sz 16 shorts to the fair yesterday. Kept having to pull them up. Still scared about anything touching my incisions. Band to SIPS/SA-DI/LOOP DS 8.8.17 HT: 5'6ish HW: 242 SW: 226 CW: 206 GW: Healthy
