    Onederland!

I was stuck at 201 for a couple of days then dropped to the 199.8. It will happen! Woot
  4. I used them, my eval didn't immediately get sent over to my doc and I had to call and leave a message too. They eventually got it. Keep contacting them. 🤞🏼

    Upper/inner thigh fat

I never had cellulite, had to google it... I think because I'm half Asian it's just genetic. But the saggy inner thighs... oh man I'm definitely getting that now with the weight loss.

Progress Pics - 4.5 Months Out

I love progress pics. You look fantastic, thank you for sharing!
  7. Loved him, he had the best bed side manner. And he never made you feel bad when you were struggling. (As was my case with that fricken torture device - the band)
  8. Fantastic! I'm almost 6 weeks out and 2 lbs away from onederland. Can't wait! Yesterday I tried in regular riding boots, not wide calf, and they fit! I was floored.

    Hit a milestone today!

That is an awesome milestone! Congrats!!
  10. Dr. Michaelson did my band back in 2010 and removed my gallbladder in 2011. He is awesome. He didn't do my revision but that is only because I moved.

    Should I be concerned? Incisions...

Thanks, they still gross me out. Have another appointment tomorrow. Hopefully they tell me that they think they're getting better.

    Tmi!!!!!

That first week I had to use the glycerin suppositories. Now I have a squatty potty and am all good.

    Staples

Sorry I don't have an answer for you. However I wish I had staples. My skin is sensitive and having issues with what was used to close me up on Aug 8th. I'm guessing staples would have been better for my skin. Now I get to keep cleaning these holes and wait as these open wounds heal. [emoji25]

How did you choose your goal weight?

I didn't set a goal weight with my surgeon. For ticker purposes I just looked at the bmi chart and took the top number from the "normal" range. I just want my goal to be "heathy." [emoji4]
  15. I didn't have a drain but two of my incisions haven't healed. They're not infected but I have had to go in for debridement. It's been over a month. It's frustrating. I now have to scrub them in the shower with a toothbrush and keep them covered with gauze and tape. Which is giving me an itchy rash. Round and round I go...

    Ds vs. bypass

Not every surgeon does the DS because of its complexity. Bypass has been around for a long time so they consider it the "gold standard" but I wouldn't necessarily say that makes it better. As mentioned another commenter, DS doesn't have dumping which is a plus in my book [emoji4]

    Ds vs. bypass

But the bypass also runs the risk of malnutrition. I'm not certain that the there is an increased percentage of complications of the DS vs the bypass. I think they're pretty comparable. DS has a better long term outcome when it comes to regain. The SIPS is a modified DS having a single anastomoses vs the two anastomoses of the traditional. The SIPS also has a longer common channel that also helps reduce the risk of malnutrition and eases the whole gas/diarrhea issue. SIPS is also known as SADI or LOOP. Again this being a personal decision, you have to go with your gut [emoji173]️ good luck with your decision [emoji4]

    Ds vs. bypass

Can I ask what are the extra risks? I have the SIPS DS, not the traditional but am curious as to what extra risks are on your list? All surgeries come with risk, the choice is yours as to which you're willing to take.

    Beginning Pre-Op Process

The duodenal switch is a Bariatric surgery that consists of a sleeve and two anastomoses of the intestine. It's both a restrictive (sleeve) and malabsorptive (rerouted intestines) surgery. Has a better long term outlook when it comes to regain than just the sleeve alone. It's a much more complex surgery than the others and not all surgeons do it. There is also a single anastomoses duodenal switch known as SIPS, SADI or the LOOP. Which has a longer common channel than the traditional or "full" DS. I also have Aetna pos II, my surgeon asked me to lose 10% of my body weight pre surgery. I didn't quite make the 10%, but it is important to do your best to lose some prior to in order to shrink your liver. That's why most surgeons require a preop diet.

    Trying on smaller sizes

Awesome! I have two pairs of wide calf riding boots that I can now stick my hand down inside too. They weren't snug presurgery but now I totally can see the difference. I've always been an 8.5 or 9 but my feet are have always been "not chubby" but my calves were big.

    Squatty Potty

I've seen several posts regarding constipation after surgery... so I thought I would share what I use... it's a squatty potty and totally helped me out! They sell them on Amazon l, but I got mine at Costco. Squatty Potty is the poo! [emoji90]

    Trying on smaller sizes

It amazes me how shoe sizes can change. I am hoping to be able to buy knee high boots that aren't wide calf!!!

    Itching!!!!

It happens to a lot of us. If you use vitamin E or coconut oil... just put it around the incisions. Not directly on them. They promote healing and will also moisturizer your skin which could be part of the itchiness too. Make sure to get plenty of water.

    Itching!!!!

Yes, I feel your pain! My skin is super sensitive and reacted to everything. The steri strips, the dissolving stitches and even the tape over the gauze. I used ice a lot in the first few weeks. Benedryl and calamine don't do anything for me. I have a prescription cream that I use when rashes pop up... triamcinolone cream. Also vitamin e oil, coconut oil also helped a lot.
