WAY to go!!!! You are on the road to recovery! I am on day 13 (Surgery Jan 31st) from surgery and I feel absolutely fine. The only thing is I can't eat alot (shame , huh!). I probably consume less than 500 calories per day. I guess it's due to the swelling. If i get hungry, I can only eat a few bites of food, usually creamy or mushy food). I have not progressed to real solids yet. the closest I have come is mashed potates. The good news is, I'm not hungry and I'm losing a LOT of weight! I kind of wish that my swelling would not go down! Then I wouldn't even have to worry about the fills! :-) Anyway, glad to hear you are doing well. Good luck in the days to come...

Banded yesterday..lots of questions
vannav12 replied to waitingtiljan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too was banded yesterday. I am extremely sore today and the gas pains have gotten to my shoulder and chest. Weirdest thing- I woke up from the surgery hungry! I am starving already. I've been able to do lots of liquids since I got home yesterday. I think I'm the only one with an appetite back to normal on the same day as surgery. Leave it to me to be the hungry one! Anyway, tmorrow is cream soup and yogurt. I cannot wait!!!!!! Hang in there... -
Hey thatgirl! I was glad to read your post (although not glad you are feeling bad). I am on day 2 now and I am much more sore today. The gas pains have me kind of freaked out b/c it's in my left shoulder. I keep thinking heart attack! But I tried to walk it off. It got the gas out of my shoulder, but now I feel like I have a major stitch in my side! UUGGGHH. Oh well, I just keep hoping every day I feel better. My incision sites are getting kind of sore as well. SO YOU ARE NOT ALONE !!!!! Tomorrow is another day. We'll get through it !!!!

Edieparks, thanks for the six month comment! I am so looking forward to actually feeling the restriction and knowing it's working! I am day two from surgery and already hungry !!! I love looking at people's stats on here and seeing how much each person has lost and their secrets. It's truly motivational. Size 14 !!! I can't even begin to imagine... Good luck. I will probably start the walks sometime this weekend. I feel really good for having under gone the knife just yesterday. Good luck.

I just got banded today too! I went in at 7:45. Had my surgery at 9:30 and left the hospital at about 1:30. I was banded at Georgetown Bariactric Center in Georgetown Ky. The staff was excellent! In fact, for surgery, it was an exceptional experience. I too am sore and have gas, but I feel pretty good other wise. I'm taking the drugs too. The odd this is I was hungry about an hour after I woke up from surgery! This clear liquid diet sucks already and I only have to do the Clear liquids for 3 days. (I had to do the clear liquids the day before surgery). My doctor would not allow me to have ibuprophen for one week before the surgery. I was only allowed to take Tylenol. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with your liver, but it might... I'm living for day 3 when I can have thin cream soups! Good Luck with every thing!!! 5'9" 255 - Starting Weight (1 week before surgery) 249 - Morning of Surgery 175 - Goal

Question about Recovery
vannav12 replied to lapband4meNOW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
KAT - You are great source of info !!! Thanks for the detail on the "PB's", I too was wondering what everyone was referring to. I have my surgery on Wed. Scared to death and already impatient for the fills to work. (Patience is not my virtue). Anyway, you have pretty much the same stats as me (height, weight...) so I am very excited to see your progress. You have done a great job. If you have any more helpful hints, please feel free to share them with me! I'm all ears. -

1 Week to surgery - Just a few questions
vannav12 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey everyone! I am one week to surgery. I can't tell you how scared I am. Every day I question whether this is too drastic, but I come to this sight and get my convistion back! So thanks to you all. Just a couple of questions... For the first 2 weeks of liquids, are you extremely hungry? Has anyone tried to take phentaramine (crushed up, of course) too help with hunger? I just started reading about the kidney stones. I've already had kidney stones 4 times in the last 10 years!!! Anyone out there in this situation - Any advice. I cringe every time I get a back pain, afraid it might be another stone! Anyone had surgery at the Cincinnati Weight loss center? Any comments? -
OK. Now I'm freaking out. I am one week from surgery. I am having my surgery done at Cincy Weight Loss Center. I have not heard good things on this forum about the place. I live in Lex KY. I guess I could delay the procedure and see someone else. Any comments>

Surgery in 4 weeks and scared to death
vannav12 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all. I am new to this site, but so far from what I have read, it seems totally worthwhile! I am having my surgery Jan 16th, 2007. I'm trying to read all the info I can from people who have actually been through this. I can tell you all that I am scared to death. Oddly enough, I am not scared of the operation, but of being hungry for the first 6 weeks+ !!!! Obviously, I am not good at hunger or I wouldn't be where I am today... I feel like I have so many habits that need to be changed, I'm not even sure where to start. It seems like I am getting ready to go mountain climbing in sandals! OK. Enough of the "whoa is me". Thank you all for posting so far, b/c reading them has helped me set a realistic view of post-op. Good luck to you all !!!! Vanna -

Thanks Flabulous (love the name). I think thinking of the band as my friend (tool) and not my enemy is a great way to go!!!! I'll keep posting once I get the surgery. Hopefully, I won't be dying from hunger... -
