Banded In 2008 And Still Not At My Goal
hopefully soon replied to Shauna80's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally with you girl! Got my band in April 2011, started at 220, got to 159 and now I hover between 160 and 165. I can't get and stay below that 160 mark. Exercise 5 days most weeks including running about 8 miles a week and eat lots of protein and fruit, not much "bad stuff" but beginning to think this is just where I'm supposed to be! Gotta love being size 8 and 10 again though from an 18!! Hang in! -
You go girl! Yes you can do it!!!

I did not have any stuck episodes until I had over 5.5 cc in my 10 cc band.....I get stuck, like others, when I get too hungry then eat too quick. I have only vomitted from these episodes a few times and it was always pork so I just don't eat it any more....otherwise it always passes in a few minutes. I also notice that I will often get a little stuck the first few bites in my empty pouch so I wait a few minutes then it passes and I finish eating. I currently have 6.5 cc in my 10 cc band.

Yep I agree....goals need 2 b reasonable. I have lost only 61 pounds in 15 months but I feel great and wear a size 10 again. I am below my surgeons goal for me and only 20 pounds from my personal goal. In the first 6 mos I lost about 35 pounds. Its more about learning to live with the band....how and what to eat....and exercise exercise exercise! Be good to yourself! This is the beginning of the rest of ur life!

I have used 5 hr energy and also mio energy....both work pretty well but contain caffiene equal to 2 cups of coffee so I don't think they should b used every day.....take b12 and an iron supplement along with the multi we all take....even when I don't feel like working out I make myself and I always feel great after....hang in there and just do it!

Staying Active Beyond Working Out
hopefully soon replied to Michele1975's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Biking and hiking are the two biggies for our family (we have a 9 yr old).....gonna try canoeing and white water rafting in the next month also....most states have good hiking and biking trails -
Well I did keep a food diary for about the first 2 months to ensure that I was getting enough protien and keep myself accountable but that's about it......I had surgery in april 2011 and am only about 20 lbs from my goal weight (already below surgeons goal weight)....basically it can be done without the counting as long as u r getting protein at every meal (60 plus grams per day)....good luck. Oh and exercise is an absolute must!

Hiccups Anyone Else?!?
hopefully soon replied to Coley1603's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got them a lot for the first month after surgery. Now just when I eat or drink too fast. They are no longer as painful usually which is good -
I too had hiatal hernia which they found during my pre-op work up. I have had terrible gerd for years so I knew something wasn't right (even with meds). There was some pain but it was more pressure in the chest and harder to breathe deep. Took about 8 days to feel better which is when I went back 2 work. I switched from liquid pain meds to liquid tylenol on day 3. Gas pain in the shoulders is the worst part and that has nothing 2 do with hernia. Gas x strips help a little. Good luck all

Doing well overall. Down 60 lbs and exercising 5 days a week. Still struggle from time to time with getting enough protein. Have good restriction and know it when I don't chew good or take small bites....ugh! I love love love being a size 10 again! Shopping is so fun now that I can go anywhere hope everyone is doing well. Happy 4th of july all!

3 Months Post Op 3 Fills No Weight Loss Please Help
hopefully soon replied to dquoiya's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different...some are slow ans steady losers, some lose fast in the beginning then taper off, and some are slow starters and then it starts falling off. I personally lost quickly for the first 3 months then nothing for 3 months. Since then very slow. I have lost 60 lbs overall in just over a yr. I did not really have good restriction until I got to 6.5 cc in 10 cc band. Wow that was an awakening! I exercise 5 days a week (running, p90x, strength training etc) and eat about 1200 calories a day. Still have 2 focus daily on getting enough protein. If it dips below 60 grams the scale doesn't move so make sure u r getting lots of protein. It will happen....hang in there and u can do it! -
I was back to work in 8 days....a moderately active job with minimal lifting.....like the others I recommend u take a week off and have help for a week. The port site will be the sorest area. Best of luck!

Confused At How I Feel After My Fill
hopefully soon replied to n2animals's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep first bite syndrome here too. I learned from this site that apparently the empty pouch tenses up when it first gets food so the first three or so bites need to be extra small and chewed to smitherines.....and it works. I was having this occur with my last 2 fills till I read that and started getting it right. Now I have not been seriously stuck or thrown up in 2 weeks or so. I can eat about 3/4 cup of food at a meal. My band is actually tighter in the evening which seems 2 b backward from most although that changed after the first 6 mos when it was tight in the am....weird -

Im In The Green Zone!!!!!!!
hopefully soon replied to Britneygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yay for u! I actually thought I was in or near the green zone or sweet spot before but NOW I know I am there. I am one year out and have lost 55.5 pounds and I am thrilled but the scale had not moved in a few months just inches lost cuz I am an exercise fanatic. I now get full after a small meal and stay that way for at least three hours (really good for me). The scale finally moved! I have 25 pounds to goal and now think I might really make it ....I have 6.5 cc in 10 cc band. -
Congrats on being banded.....the first week is a little rough but life is good after that! Hang in there and welcome to ur new life!

Everyone loses weight at different rates and having small ups and downs of a couple pounds seems to be normal. I have lost 53.5 pounds (9 of those pre-surgery). Surgery was 4/5/11. I have hit several plateaus and even gain 1-3 pounds then lose it plus one more usually. Dont let a little gain get you down.....when you are feeling depressed, instead of sitting in your room, get your sneakers on and go for a walk. I have found exercise to be a GREAT stress reliever (just gotta get motivated) good luck

Yep that ricotta "mock" lasagna was great during the mushie stage!! Also did the refried beans but topped them with taco sauce and light shredded cheddar cheese (melted)...good stuff (used it again after my first fill )
