  1. Yogurt... OMG I hated that stuff. My dietician suggested Yoplait delights. They come in a 4 pack. The lemon parfait is delish, I also like the carmel parfait. If I can eat this yogurt anyone can!!! You should try it if you haven't. From there I tried many different yogurts, most of them i can't even gag down however Yoplait Light Thick and Creamy is really good too, I LOVE the key lime and the strawberry. Both these yogurts are more like pudding texture than that "milk gone bad" thing! If you haven't tried them, you really should because I didn't think I would ever be able to eat yogurt, now I eat it every morning and it is my go to snack if I really need something!     Plateau - HELP!

    stick to it... I was on a plateau for 4 weeks... i didn't gain or lose even an ounce. I just kept doing what I was doing and week 5 I lost 8 pounds. Some people say to up your calories or change up your exercise. That may get you moving again! I just know I kept on doing exactly what I was doing and I started moving again. Good Luck! (I sneak snacks once in a while too, especially this time of year but I have been a pretty steady 1 - 2 pounds a week since I started moving again)

  8. No... spanking is not child abuse and some times a smart mouth deserves a slap! Don't get me wrong, too much abuse to children in this world and I don't like to see a child spanked or slapped, but sometimes it is more affective than a parent proving he can count to three!
  9. I don't deprive myself of little treats either, and when i hit a personal goal I treat myself. Not big, but I do. One time my treat might be a cookie or some type of chocolate. When I hit 75 pounds lost this week i treated myself with a full glass of skim milk!!! Did that hit the spot. The last thing my surgeon said to me was absolutely no beverages with calories, so i don't really even drink milk, I was so craving a cold glass of milk. Do what works for you, we are all different and there are all sorts of rules and guidelines set by our doctors... i've noticed they vary quite a bit. Good luck to you... 4 pounds is GREAT!!!
  10. I'm going to Italy... been saving for years and then when i could finally afford it my weight was so out of control that I could not imagine sitting in an airplane seat, that I could not fit into, all the way there. Money is in the bank... just waiting to hit my magic weight! Arrivederci!!!!!

    Help! Need new snack ideas!!!

    I don't typically snack between meals, but if i do it is usually cheese or yogurt. My bariatric center REALLY stress' NO SNACKING, but sometimes I still have too!

  13. Cottage cheese!!! I couldn't do the blended food thing. Cottage cheese was my main source of protien! Good Luck!

    Very excited and Very Mad

    I can pretty much eat anything... I just have to be VERY consious of what I'm eating and taking small bites and chewing alot more if it is something like steak. My hardest food is bread, but I still eat popcorn! Good luck to you!

  16. I think some doctors think that you get to that weight because of the lack of control and worry that you will not be able to make the commitment. I'm sure hoping they are wrong! I'm down 71 pounds and have 180 to go. Good luck to you. It is the best thing I've ever done. I think you just have to dedicate yourself to really changing the things you eat and the way you think about food.

    Supplements and Vitamins

    Mine just told me a multi-vitamin also plus a calcium chew twice daily, however i discovered my multi-vitamin had no iron in it. A lot of them don't. I finally found a multi-vitamin plus minerals. I felt way less tired after taking that for a couple of weeks. I log my food and i really have a hard time getting enough iron so i really needed a supplement. Good luck on your journey!
  18. Ya, my dr. told me NO beverages at all except water or zero calorie. They don't fill you up so it does nothing to curb your appetite. Altho a protien shake at least you are getting your protien from it. Any liquid will pass right through your band.
  19. I'm in! I have been on a plateau for 3 weeks, gonna kick it up a bit at the gym. I refuse to gain over the Holidays!!!! This is may first challenge, good luck everyone!
  20. Oof dah.... you should have seen what I did to the Halloween Candy Bowl! You did great, I think you demonstrated a great deal of self control! Good Job! (damn Peanutbutter Cups) But I'm back on track!!
  21. Could you keep your insurance and pay the premium yourself. I know that is out of pocket expenses, but at least you could still have the surgery. Kind of a crazy way about it I know... but something to think about! Good Luck to you!

    When did you see a difference?

    I've been doing cardio and strength training too and in the past 3 weeks have lost "zilch"! Gonna keep plugging away!!!! It's hard not to get discouraged, but I'm sure the weight will start moving again. I seem to eat more since I've been working out, going to try to cut back on this but I'm starving when I get home from the gym! (Don't always make the best choices)

  25. I got 3 month "free" membership at the fittness center (small but has lots of choices) in the Hospital where I had my surgery done. Lots of other lap banders there (which is kind of nice) and just an all around different crowd than at a regular gym. However,when my free membership is up, I'll most likely join one of the gyms in town.
