To swallow or not to swallow

I learned the hard way! But eventually I learned! -
Hi Linn, welcome aboard!

How do you feel about drinking water to lose weight?
TKW replied to nurseAMY11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find this to be very true... I drink 64 - 80 0z a day. -
I've had restriction from day one. I really don't understand the people who say they have "no" restriction, I would think you would have to have some??? Anyway, I've always had some restriction but your head has to be in the game. I really have to think... am I hungry or do I just want to eat something? Usually, if it is between meals... I just want to eat something to eat. Old habits die hard! LOVE MY BAND!

My mom had bypass and passed away about 8 months afterwards do to complications and medication she was on. At that time I was considering lap-band surgery but just could not go thru with it. 7 month ago I did, some of my family were not thrilled about it but after everything turned out to be ok... they are all very happy for me! I think they will be happy for you too! Good Luck on your journey!

I'm getting a little worried here guys...
TKW replied to malexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I would consider my self a success, so far anyway! I have learned a lot on my relatively short journey of 7 months. I have learned if i eat junk, I don't lose weight. I have learned if I don't drink enough Water, I don't lose weight. And most importantly I have learned that if I don't exercise, I do not lose weight. I'm not saying this is what causes people to fail, but I can guarantee you if I did not follow these 3 little rules, I would fail! You can do it, but you have to go into it with the right mind set. You still have to work hard at it, but the lap-band is a GREAT tool to help you succeed! I love my lap band! Good Luck to you! -
yes... productive burp. Basically from my understanding it is throwing up, but from your pouch, not your stomach.

I had acid reflux every night of my life for several years until I had the surgery. Have not had it since! Not even Once!!! Love my lap band! I think if your band is too tight or has slipped you could experience it, but I have absolutely no problems with it. Good Luck!

Do you count calories? carbs? fats?
TKW replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a calorie counter, been doing it long enough now that I don't even really have to write it down, however, I "cheat" more when I don't physically write it down. -
How do I find the right balance?
TKW replied to bulldog3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have struggled with my quantity at meals... At breakfast I can not eat anything, not a bite. It will come back up. About 10:00am I can manage to get a yogurt down. By lunch i can eat about 2 cups of food and the same for supper. This usually does hold me over to the next meal though without any snacks. They say that you should only be able to eat a cup of food, I have yet to experience that. However, I have been thinking, I could probably stop eating after a cup and not be hungry? But I think I would require a snack between meals. My dr. is happy with how I'm doing and I have been very honest about what I eat. It seems to be working for me. I manage to get in all of my protien so I don't do the protien shakes. Good Luck! -

the carmel ones are good too! -
I do them often for lunch. It seems to work out pretty good for me, some of them have quite a bit of protien.

I was a chocoholic before surgery, for the most part it doesn't bother to go without sweets now, but once in a while I'll get a sweet craving. I go for yogurt, or have a crystal light. Also, i used to always have a candy jar at work. Once in a while I'll buy sugar free "Wurthur Originals" to have at my desk at work, usually does the trick for me.

I didn't start exercising until 3 or 4 months after my surgery but I have to tell you I think it is key in losing weight. I didn't exercise over 2 weeks during Christmas and lost nothing. I started exercising again the 28th of Dec. and I lost 4 pounds this week! I don't always eat right, and I definately eat larger portions than they say I should be able too. Exercise and Water I think are really key elements. Some days I have to drag my hind end, kicking and screaming, to the gym. I feel so good after I work out. And I think I get most of my motivation from seeing the scale move. That really motivates me, every single pound motivates me more. WE CAN DO THIS!!! Get back to it, and when you fail to exercise or eat not the healthiest one day, just get up the next and start over, don't beat yourself up, just start again. Good Luck!
