All I have to say is.... You're Worth It. You matter and you can do this, not for anyone else but yourself! Be proud of who you are and that you want to make a better life for yourself and your child. Set small goals and work toward them. As you achieve each small goal, feel proud of your accomplishments and don't let anyone or anything drag you down. I hope you find the strength to throw away those cigarettes and get back on track. Follow the rules, yes it's hard but it is so worth it, and to my experience, the lap-band works miracles if you follow the plan. Eat only when you are hungry and only till you are satisfied. (cheat once in a while just because) Really listen to your stomach, not your head, exercise and drink your water. I have found an enormous amount of will power from watching that scale go down, it really motivates me, and it will you too. I wish you the best of luck, you can do this, you can succeed, You are WORTH IT!

1. How long have you had your band? 7 months (june 29 2010) 2. How much weight have you lost? 90 glorious pounds. 3. How many fills and unfills did you get until you found the "sweet spot"? 3, I have 5.2 cc's in a 10 cc band. (This will change with the more weight I lose) 4. If you stick to a particular diet (ie weight watchers, low carb, atkins, etc) which on works for you? I count my protien and calories 5. How often do you exercise? Yes, daily - 30 min cardio plus 30 min strength training. I do miss a day occassionally. 6. Does anyone do Yoga and how long did you wait until you started practicing again? Never tried it, but would like to 7. Do you ever drink alcohol? Once in a great while. Had 3 glass' of wine xmas eve, would have one or two drinks at the lake last summer once in a while. 8. What foods give you a problem? Bread, scrambled eggs, pasta. (better if I try at night, sometimes I can eat them but I pretty much don't even try any more) 9. Does your port stick out? no (not yet) not sure if it ever will. 10. How much water do you get in each day?64 - 80 oz or more. once in a while i fall short. 11. Any tips that will help on the journey? Listen to your stomach, not your head. Get to know if you are hungry or just want to eat. Drink your water and exercise. Good Luck to you!

Take smaller bites... I bet it helps. I thought my bites were plenty small enough, turns out they weren't. I am not familiar with IC. Hope thing get easier for you soon.
-
No.. I did not experience that problem. Surgery seems to do strage things to people tho. Hang in there, I'd guess it will subside. Best of luck to you on your journey!

I think it is different for everybody. I always had restirction and have never been starving. I did not get a fill at my first fill apointment because my weight loss was sufficient. I really lost a lot of weight the first couple of months. Listen to your stomach, not your head. Don't go hungry, but try not to eat just cuz you "think" you are hungry. It's a hard thing to do, I struggle with it still daily. I really have to tell my self, "are you really hungry". Most of the time the answer is no. But if I am, I eat something. Try to eat something healthy with protien. I pretty much do not snack between meals, I do struggle with a late night snack... but that is definately a head thing and not a stomach thing. Best of luck to you on your journey!

Wow... I really miss my Pasta. Do you think spagetti sauce would be good on the cabbage. I love cabbage but never would have thought. Oh, well cabbage rolls have tomato bet it would be good. I'm excited now...going to try! Thanks for the great idea! -
I'm further out than that... but I didn't start exercising until 3 months out. (aside from an occassional walk) If I could do it again I'd start way earlier. It makes so much difference in your weight loss. I now go to the gym for and hour and 15 minutes 7 days a week! Much luck to you on your lap band journey!

I ate a cookie today.... the band made me do it! I agree, I don't think (in most cases) it is the band that is failing. I had GREAT education about the band prior to my surgery, I'm not sure that everyone gets all the info they need to make the right decision about the lap band. Continued good luck on your journey!

Going a little crazy...multiple symptoms, don't know who to call
TKW replied to anewbeckiboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was an early menopauser (45). Had not had my period for a year and a half prior to surgery. Two weeks after surgery, I got my period. Just once, but sort of freeked me out too. I agree, surgery does weird things to your body. It might not hurt to call your doctor tho... I guess I would call my GYN. -
Lean Cusine and other frozen Pre made foods
TKW replied to Steph951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat them a couple of times a week. They are easy and some of them are pretty good. I think the only problem with them is a lot of them are high in sodium. I don't have a blood pressure problem but if you do you might want to be careful with them. -
My dr told me three meals a day... no snacks. He said people that eat more than that get into the "grazing" mode and you can eat way more in 6 meals than you can in three. My understanding (from my dr) was 3 meals a day... should stay satisfied between meals, no snacks. I am currently right with that schedule. Perfect restriction. Don't get hungry between meals. Losing 3 - 4 pounds a week. ( now if I could just control that late night snack, but I usually do a cheese or a yogurt) Sometimes the 3 meal thing can be hard to get your protien in.

Fill Third Help me please
TKW replied to LookatmeNow34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had my 3rd fill and it was totally different too. It was very tight for about 3 days, then got a little better and I am at my "sweet spot" for the moment. Been 2 months and still have good restriction. However, the throwing up part is strange. See how it goes. My bites had to get even smaller than I have been doing in the past, but if i take too big of a bite it gets stuck, no matter how well I chew, so remember little little bites and chew chew chew! It seems like with every fill I have to learn to eat differently all over again. Good luck! -
I keep track of mine on lapband.com. My lap band journey! They have lots of good tools!
-
LOL! I'M IN!!!
-
I was losing my hair really bad at about 4 - 5 months. I talked to my dr. about it. She said that it is not falling out, it is breaking off... ? Still not sure about that, but the hair loss has slowed!
-
I have a "fill" apointment in 30 minutes. Don't think I will be getting a fill today. I'm feeling great, have great restriction and am down 10 pounds over the last 4 weeks. I am lovin my lap-band!
-
I eat salads, seems to go ok, but yes... chew chew chew!

Yes, diuretic effects. I was told that for every cup of coffee I drink I need to drink an extra 16 oz of Water. However, others on this site were told differently. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this.
