  1. Don't know why not, although I'd go with the sugar free cough drops / hard candy.
  2. The pain you had in your shoulders was from the gas that they used to "blow you up" when they did the surgery, so I don't know how it could be related but stress can do strange things.
  3. Welcome Curlz!!!! Good Luck on your Lap-Band Journey!

    Second thoughts... again

It is different for everyone, I have trouble with bread, but if i eat really really slow and take very small bites, it goes down ok. Rice is bad for me but those are really my only two food problems, oh, and eggs, but I'm not crayz about eggs anyway! Honestly, I find more problems with how I eat, too fast, too big of bite etc., then I do with what I eat. Ultimately, you'll have to decide but I don't think your dr would tell you anything was off limits (except carbination) if you, personally can handle it. I have no problems with any meats, fruits or veggies/salad. Good luck to you.

    Sleep Help....

I only slept on my stomach before surgery and now I just can't. Oddly, I can feel the band poking my sternum/ribs. Anyway, I think it is the band and it is a sharp poke! Also, I feel like I'm sufficating if I sleep on my stomach. I roll over every now and then and try it again, but I just can't do it!
  6. WOW... that's a loaded question. pizza, Pasta, Hambugers and home made baked goods! But oddly, just now when I thought about it, I really don't miss any of it. I have fleeting moments but they pass. I will honestly say I have found healthier versions of most of these things or substitutes. (well, not sure it substitues is the right termanology) The other day tho... I really wanted a good pizza, and those skinny little cardboard substitutions just don't cut it!
  7. I didn't have a pre-op diet. They just wanted me to try and lose some weight before surgery, No gain or no surgery. I lost 18 pounds. Best of Luck to you!!!
  8. Thanks! Things have gone very well for me so far!

    Stuck feeling

In my experience if I drink water it instantly comes back up, sometimes this "unsticks" the food, sometimes it doesn't. The food is eventually going to go through the band or you will end up throwing up. When I get stuck I slime really bad. This either helps the food go through too or makes me throw up. I hate getting stuck. Hope it pass' quickly!

Prayers for a speedy recovery and a glorious journey!!!
  11. My first fill was 5 weeks after my surgery and I had lost 22 pounds. That was quite a bit higher than most my dr. said but I was very heavy.

    Bread?

Well, the more fluid I get in my band, the harder these things are to eat. However if I toast bread or and english muffin really well, I don't seem to have a problem. I find myself eating less of these things all the time though. If you get "stuck" on them often enough you learn not to even want them. That being said, I bought a package of the sandwich thins ( really really thin buns) I have had a couple of sandwiches made on them and they have gone down perfectly. There is not much to them. It is different for everyone, and the tighter your band gets the more problem you may have. Small bites are really the key. Good luck to you!
  13. Great job!!!! Doesn't it feel good, I too just reach 100 and yes, I see my life coming back also! Loving everyday! Way to go and keep up the good work!!!
  14. Good for you!!! I wish you much success!
  15. I had terrible acid reflux before my surgery but I have to gladly say, I have not experienced it even once since then. From what I read in the forum, that is usually a sign of being too tight or a slip. I haven't heard of eating too fast being a cause of reflux. (not that that means anything). Well, I hope you get the problem resolved, there is almost nothing worse! Good luck to you!

    6 months since banding

My clinic is pretty stingy with the fills also, but as long as I am losing I am happy. This is a great web-site! It really helps motivate me and it is a great support system. Welcome!!

    Weight Gain with a Fill

It really isn't possible. You would have to eat 3200 MORE calories than you use just to gain one pound. I doubt with the band, unless you are eating A LOT of slider foods that you could do this. Every now and then my scale will show a 1 - 2 pound increase. I ignore it because I know that I only eat 1400 calories a day and I burn 3800 a day between my lifestyle (seated at a desk) and my exercise. It could be Water retention, maybe you haven't had a bowel movement in a few days, the adjustment maybe could have caused the issue, I'm not sure, but I bet in a couple of days that 3 pounds will be gone. Don't beat yourself up over it because it most likely isn't something you are doing wrong. The scale got so it drove me crazy... I was obsessed. Now I weigh 1 time a week! Good luck to you!
  18. I eat between 1200 - 1400.
  19. Well, you should follow your doctors orders but they all are different, I had no pre-op diet, just couldn't eat or drink after midnight. You should be fine, don't know what your mom was thinking, but I bet she wanted to treat you to one last meal of your favorite nacho's!!! Good luck to you!

    PORTION SIZES

I was told 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food. 4oz protien, 1/2 cup veg, 1/2 cup starch. How can it all be so different?
  21. TKW - 331 (Down 5 pounds this week- early check in, I only weigh on Sundays) Good Luck this week everyone
  22. good for you... that's crazy!!!

    Did I hurt my band?

No, you should be fine. You can probably eat more because the initial swelling of your stomach after surgury has gone down. If you "hurt" your band, you'd know it by not being able to keep things down or having a lot of heart burn. Best of luck to you.
