9 months and 100 pounds later... what I've learned.
TKW replied to StormRoyale's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I am 9 months and just over 100 lbs too but lots more to go yet. I couldn't imagine being able to eat 4 cups but I could still eat sweets to the breaking point! I love my band too and if there would be anything I could have different about the band it would be the sweets thing. They just go down too easy. Continued success to you! -
That's what I'm talking about!

I think you, seriously, need an unfill. You should tell your Dr./Nut. this. You are eating high calorie stuff because you can get it down. You need protien and veggies. I think an unfill and being to eat real food would get you moving again. Good Luck!

Breakfast - nothing (really tight in the am but sometimes have a yogurt) Lunch - Grilled chicken breast, orange & red peppers, onions on whole grain tortilla with 1 tbl spoon of light ranch. (leftover from night before) 350 cal 37g protien. snack - Warm from the oven oatmeal raisen cookie ( some one brought to work after lunch so it was more of a dessert than a snack. 65 cal. 1g protien . Supper - steak with 99% fat free mushroom soup (made kind of like stroganoff) thinned out with a little skim milk (was actually pretty good) on aprox.1 cup of noodles. Aprox 420 cal 36g protien. steamed carrots - 40 cal Evening Snack - yogurt 100 cal 5g protien 100 oz of water throughout the day Total: 975 cal 79g protien 72g of carbs (which is a little high, i almost never eat pasta)

Awww... that stinks. You're not up to par yet and kind of got sent on an emotional roller coaster. You did great with the eating thing, that was will power!. The Mother In-Law might have went a little overboard! Good Luck on your journey!

I started taking "gummy fiber" They are like dots... 2 a day. Can't tell you how much it has helped me. I poop everyday now and it was more like every 4 or 5 and that was hard. I also try to eat more fiber in vegitables or have a fiber one bar as a snack. Good Luck And one day I ate an entire box of girls scout Cookies.

Hmm...can somebody verify something for me?
TKW replied to Freddy Henin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You would think the professional would have the correct information. Neither, to my experience, is true. -
Probably normal, I hadn't had my period in 1 1/2 years. (I went thru early meno) Got it a week after my surgery. Just that one time, but it was like a totally normal period.

Can someone help me understand..penalized For insurance
TKW replied to narmrn's topic in Insurance & Financing
Is there any wonder why health care in this country is such a mess! Rediculous! I know they don't get paid what they are actually billing but they sure as heck get more than the self pay. What's the difference?! -
Would you do this? Exercise question...
TKW replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes... I'd do it. I agree who cares about the rest. Remember, you are doing it for YOU! -

I'm sure you didn't stretch your pouch, you don't want to vomit unless you can't help it, that could cause a slip. O my, if i could get rid of everything I ate that I shouldn't have I'd be 50 pounds lighter. Sometimes we eat the wrong things... but really is anything "wrong" if eaten in moderation? I have treats once in a while or I'd go crazy. I agree with the journaling your food. It really helps me make better decisions on what to put in my mouth because I know if I eat that doughnut it is the same calories as a whole meal. I have had a couple of really bad days, one involved an entire box of girl scout Cookies. The next day... i put myself back on track. Funny thing is, I really thought I could eat just 2 cookies. I don't beat myself up... I just move on. Good luck to you!

I notice a lot of people on here say a fill takes a few days or even weeks to take affect. How can that be??? I have no idea.

Help!! I am stuck and cannot get unstuck
TKW replied to Want To Be Thin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you could try exercising... I seem to be able to get "unstuck" if I take a brisk walk. I would quit eating anything until it was unstuck, but I can not drink a drop when I'm stuck, it comes righ back up. Home someones advice works for you. I hate being stuck! Good Luck! -
Wow... way to go!!!!

Interested in surgery but MANY questions-please help
TKW replied to mi75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well.. my experience has been great. I had my initial apointment the first of April and was banded June 29th so about 2 months but it went sooooo fast. I have only had 3 fills in 9 months, I'm not big into the fill thing either (as long as I am losing weight I guess). I think most people agree that soda in a no go although I know people on here that drink it. They say it can stretch your pouch, others say it doesn't but can make you uncomfortable. Soda is just unhealthy no matter how you look at it (can't believe I just said that coming from a diet coke addict -funny how we change). I will admit I have had a few cocktails that have had soda in them, I try to stir a good portion of the fizz out of them, I had no discomfort from drinking them. I don't think I have experienced the "band Hell" and I was off work for 2 weeks but could have easily gone back after a week. As for the water, I dont' know what you have heard but lots of water is a must. I drink about 100 oz a day. I would do it all again in a heartbeat! Good luck to you! -
Waiting for the phone to start ringing
TKW replied to fly4kidsrt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep.. in one ear and out the other. Don't let it get you down and if they can't say anything constructive tell them you don't want to discuss it with them. This is about you, being healthier, not being thinner... being healthier!!! The thinner part is a bonus! Best of luck to you on your journey! -
Suggestions on getting the recommended water
TKW replied to Cara1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't eat Breakfast if I do it is a yogurt about 10:00 8:00 - 10:00am 2 - 12 OZ DECAFS 10 - 11:30 24 OZ Water OR CRYSTAL LITE IN THE MORNING (done by 11:30) 12:00 - lunch 1:30 - 5:00 48 0z water or crystal lite 5:30 - 16 oz water with work out 7:00 - super 9:00 usually take a 16 oz bottle and sip on it and take it to bed (i get so thirsty at night) drink about 8 oz by morning. I Try to get at least 100 oz a day, but I always get at least 64. I find it more important to not drink after a meal than before. When I first started i had to force 64 oz down, A few months ago I was fighting hunger between meals but did feel like I needed a fill so my Nut. suggested more water. They say it has nothing to do with weight loss but mine sure picked up when I increased my water, altho... it could be many things. -
Wow... that made me a little emotional!!! Congrats, keep up the good work!
