    Pho?

not familiar with Pho or any of the cities you referenced!!! (North Dakota here)
  2. Well, it happened. But you just have to get up tomorrow and start over. You can do it, if your hungry, eat but make good choices. Snitching onion rings or fries once in a while... no big deal, but if you don't make healthy choices on a pretty consistant basis ~ this process will be a whole lot harder! Good Luck!
  3. they say 6 weeks to be able to do "anything" so at 5 weeks if you start out slow you should be fine.
  4. Nope, i don't think that can affect your band at all!
  5. Well, it shouldn't feel like there is something in your throat. (not in my experience) they say it should take you 30 minutes to eat and it should! take a bite about the size off a dime, chew the dickens out of it and then wait 20 - 30 seconds between bites after you swallow. if you start feeling at all full ( and perhaps the feeling in your throat is that) stop. Wait 5 minutes or so and see how you feel. It may mean you are full, it is really a trial and error thing, everyone seems to be different but you learn to read what your band is telling you. Good luck
  6. yup, i just had to be on liquids 3 days then could go to mushies. eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese. Lots of protien in cottage cheese. I lived on it for a week!

    When is the band "full"?

Well... to my knowledge if you have a 10cc band it will hold 10cc's. From what I've seen on here, lots of people have 6 or more cc's. .5 cc no matter what seems strange. Think he just wants to make more money, altho, .5cc could be all you need.
  8. 1. I could take pills right away, no problem at all. 2. Don't think i could really feel it. I can now,not the band but feel food or liquid go thru. Hard to explain. 3. 6 weeks 4. I walked a little (very little) the next day. I didn't join the gym till 3 months later. Wish i had started at the gym much earlier. I think the dr. says 6 weeks for strenuous exercise. But you can walk as soon as you feel like it. You should actually walk a little bit a couple of times a day right after the surgery to help prevent blood clots. 5. I had acid reflux ever single night of my life until I got the band. Have not had it even once since!!! 6. The first couple of months I did not get hungry. I get hungry now. 7. To my knowledge, nothing. I started being happier! Good Luck!!!

    What's your #1 food weakness?

Ice Cream... Altho. Weight Watchers Dark Choc Raspberry Ice Cream Bars @ 70 cal each are delish. Only problem, If I buy a box I will eat one every day until they are gone. I only buy them every now and then, it could be worse I guess, If I bought a carton of ice cream I'd do the same thing.

    Should I celebrate?

Absolutely Celebrate!!! 50 pounds is a great accomplishment. It does take more weight loss for it to be noticed the heavier you are but now it is going to really start to be noticable! You are averaging 5 lbs a month. That's right in line with the 1 - 2 pounds a week they say we are supposed to lose. I sort of celebrate every 10 pounds ! Be proud, you've done amazing!
  13. Special "K" protien bars are the only ones I've ever tried. They're not bad, only 180 calories and 10g of protien.
  14. I didn't have to do Clear liquids... just liquids. My protien shakes were skim milk with carnation instant Breakfast. Oh, your stomache is going to make all sorts of noise. You'll think something is alive in there.
  15. I'm lucky, no children so I don't have the stuff in the house. I'm fine as long as it is not there. My little nephew (5) spent the weekend. Cheeto's and mini cupcakes. Uff... sometimes I am so dumb. Sad thing is he loves good snacks too, oranges, strawberry's. I think I just gave myself an excuse to eat cupcakes!!! But... Monday was a new day, I forget about it and move on.

    Alcohol??

Oh... and be careful, you don't want to drink so much you get sick and throw up... that could be very bad.
  17. TKW

    Alcohol??

Well, the 2 concerns with alcohol are fizz and calories. So if you avoid beer or drinks mixed with soda you should be fine as long as you don't mind the "usless" calories in wine or other non carbonated beverages. I think a brothers wedding would be a good reason do take in a few extra calories!!! . Have fun!

    Binge Eating Specialist

Well, I have to agree, who gets to that weight and isn't a binge eater. I guess the specific question never came up at my psych evaluation but I would think many of us would be classified as binge eaters. Interesting that therapy has helped you so much. I have had a pretty successful band journey so far but there are days I seriously wonder how I am going to achieve my goal. Maybe thereapy would help me??? Interesting post... sounds like you have an exceptional head start to the whole process, I wish you much success.

    what you can/can't eat now

It all depends on the day for me, I mostly stay away from bread Pasta and scrambled eggs. Slider foods are foods that go right through your band. Anything really soft, ice cream, yogurt, Soup are sliders. Also, crunchy things seem to be sliders, chips, Cookies. Basically all the good stuff. Eat healthy, protien and veg those are the foods that are not sliders.

    question

I think it is different personalities, different experiences as an obese person. I think some people have been teased or ridiculed and are ashamed of being over weight and I think that carries over. I am not ashamed to tell anybody, I'll tell a perfect stranger. I have been overweight since I was a young child. I grew up in a small town and can not remember even once being teased or called names as a child (except for my brother). My mother was a large woman and proud of who she was. At 45 years old, divorced and weighing over 300 pounds she decided to go to college and the kids at that University elected her HOMECOMING QUEEN, and not as joke. She was strong and proud and kind and giving and brought me up to be proud of exactly who and what I am. I think that's why I find it easy to be open about it. It's hard to imagine, for those of us so open about it. But overweight people go through a lot and I guess this is a place for all of us to find support. We may not understand it but we can be understanding.
  23. hmmmm... strange. I wonder if they dr left some fluid in your band after surgery.
