    First Fill

Each fill seems like a learning experience to me. That was quite a fill, remember, small, slow, well chewed bites! Good Luck
  2. I lost 19 pounds the first month, 11 the second month and 14 the thrid month. I have been averaged 10 pounds a month.

    I Suck as a Bander!!!

I think you just need to start anew. How is your restriction, do you think you need a fill? #1 rule, eat protien first, that would be a start. The idea of eating protien first is to fill you up and keep you full which should keep you from eating the junk (somewhat). It will also take some will power. Also, do not drink when you eat. You need to get back to the basic rules of the band. If you haven't been to your dr. for a while, go. It's a battle but one you can win!!! Good Luck!

    Help me on Week 2

Well, it is all pretty normal. For some it can take a good while for the swelling in your stomach to go down, that is why the liquid diet. The Heart attack feeling, I think, is because of the solids you are eating. That is what getting "stuck" feels like. Chewing your food really really well will help but sometimes it is more the size of the bite or how fast you eat it. I wonder if your Dr left any Fluid in your band after surgery? I don't know what the pain is you are feeling when you take a deep breath. I doubt the band has slipped unless you have thrown up a lot. It will get easier, and now that you get mushies that will help. Don't be afraid to call your Dr with any questions. Good Luck to you!

    Weighing and measuring food

I'm going on a year post op and just bought a food scale today. My last fill was very tight, I am finally only eating less than a cup of food but am finding it challenging to get my protien in now, so i feel like i need to be more percise on exactlly how much protien I am eating. I bought my scale at WalMart, they had 4 or 5 to pick from under $30.oo

    Acid Reflux

agree... the band can be tempermental. You must have swelling from something.
  7. Glad you're feeling good. Take it easy for a few days! Yippee!!!
  8. Can you give me an example of how you get that much protien in a day. What is your calorie intake?
  9. Haven't had a protien shake since week 1. My Dr. told me no liquid calories either. And yes, I do go through the interrogation process when I go for a fill. Doesn't bother me, I feel like they really want me to succeed plus it helps them determine if I need a fill or not. Keep up the Battle!

    Who Does Feel Full??!

I really need to try to get to that way of thinking. I always eat until I have that "full" feeling. I don't weigh or measure my food, think I will buy a food scale and start doing that. Thanks Vicki
  14. I have little or no complications aside from the occasional "stuck" episode which usually is my own fault brought on by eating too fast. The eating process has been so much easier than i thought it was going to be. I, personally, could not be happier!
  15. 10c band, 4 fills, 5.6 cc and right now I can not imagine ever getting another fill. I went 11 months and thought I had pretty good restriction but I could always eat quite a bit of food, but I was losing on average 10 pounds a month so I was under the impression this was good restriction. Then I had a month where I lost 2 pounds and I was always hungry. I got my 4th fill. Night and Day. I am eating like they say you should, about 1 cup at a meal. It has been a completely new learning experience with this fill. It's been 2 weeks and I finally think I've adjusted. I just can not take that one more bite, or I am miserable. Honestly didn't think I would ever be able to eat just 1 cup of food. I think I am finally at my sweet spot.
  16. I agree, call your dr. You should maybe call tonight. You don't want to wait if it could be a blood clot.
  17. you probably did no harm. Are you still on liquids or can you have mushies. I only had to be on liquids 3 days and then moved to mushies. The liquid and soft diets are so your stomach does not have to work so hard to pass the food through the band at first. This gives the band a chance to get seated in place and heal. I don't think it is a big deal but try to follow your clinics orders. Good luck to you.

    Who Does Feel Full??!

I am 11 months post op, I had restriction from the start but could always eat about 2 cups of food, depending on what it was, before I would feel full. Last week I had my 4th fill. I now am actually amazed at my restriction. I really thought I would never actually be able to only eat 1/2 - 1 cup of food but alas.... that is where I am at, I get full in less that 1 cup of food and I do not get hungry between meals. Now if I could convince myself that I did not need a evening snack! I'm not hungry, but I always think I have to have a snack. Believe me, I didn't think I would ever see the day but it has come!
  19. Well, chips crumble into nothing so if you chew them well, they will go down ok, too good probably, they are a slider food for most people, which means they will pass through your band rather easily. You want to try to stay away from these foods on a regular basis because they are so easy to eat and pass right through. But on occasion there is nothing wrong with some chips. The foods that seem to cause problems for most people are foods like bread or Pasta, something that you might swallow as a whole "wadd" (for a lack of a better term) The real key to me is not what I eat but more how i eat it. Slow and small bites seem to be the key for me, if i eat too fast or too large of a bite, that seems to be when I will get stuck. Things get stuck because they can not pass through the band, so the smaller, well chewed things go through the easiest. You'll do just fine, just take it slow. It is a learning process for us all, but in no time you will get so you just know what you can and can't eat, what will and what won't go down well. Don't be scared, it will be great!

    Lack of Energy

Early on I did. My iron was low. I noticed my vitamin did not have iron in it so I changed to a multi vitamin/mineral. It seemed to help me a lot.

    My feet got cold

There seems to be some people who the band just does not work for or their system just cant tolerate it. Aside from a few foods I can not eat, I have not had a single problem or complaint. It took me 2 years of thinking about the band before I actually decided to do it. No matter what we do in life, there are people who have good experiences and people who have bad, ultimately you will make the choice you think is right for you. Good Luck to you.
  22. The chips and the chocolate - yes Popcorn, I had some last night would have been fine but kept eating it.... just needed to know when to quit. Pasta - this usually gives me problems. But I know people who can eat it. I've heard different people say certain types of pasta they can eat, some they can't. Trust me, you will be able to go out and enjoy meals.

    Problems with fill

I am 10 months out. I just had a fill 2 weeks ago (4th fill) It was completely different from the first three. I get full very quickly. Since the day of my surgery, the hiccups for me have been a sign that I'm full and should quit eating. I almost always get the hiccups everytime I eat. I have noticed if I keep eating after I get the hiccups, I usually over eat and get sick. I think it is normal.
  24. Every Dr's rules are different, as I said, I only had to be on liquids for 3 days before I could start mushies but the others make very valid points about the healing process. You should follow your dr.'s orders or give them a call and let them know what is going on. Sometimes they will allow you to add some soft foods.
