TKW replied to Jennifer16005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bravo.... you look amazing! -
that's quite a bit. Everything going down ok? My first fill was 3.7 (not sure how they decide)

Pretty normal. You'll feel better soon. First 3 days I felt lousy. Day 4, I felt like a new woman... and now, I can't even tell you how great I feel, I am a new woman! Just take it slow, Good Luck!
-
I started out over 400 pounds. I think the heavier you are the faster it comes off at first. Got a long way to go. Good Luck!
-
I lost 23 pounds when I went to my first post op apointment. Then I lost 10 - 12 pounds a month for at least 8 months. the next 45 have taken me another year.

When I get stuck I have a pain in my chest, like at the breast bone. But I slime like crazy when I get stuck. Are you sliming, how long has the pain been going on?

I sure hope so because I haven't been able to fit on most those rides in many, many years! I don't think it's a problem. I'll let you know in August! wooOOOOOoooohooOOOooo........

A lady in my support group told a funny story. Her husband got a huge promotion and all the muckie mucks got together and took them out for a big fancy dinner. She was post op a couple of months. Anyway, she thought to Celebrate she'd have a beer. So they were all sitting there and she took a couple of sips of her beer and "EXPLODED" all over the table. It irrupted like a volcano! She said it easily goes down as the most humilitating moment of her life! I think everyone reacts differently. I've never had that kind of problem!

Can be a rough couple of days. Shouldn't last long. Congrats on the banding and good luck!

Amazing job.... thanks for the inspiration!

I rarely drink soda or beer, but I have had both. I makes me feel full or kind of gassy. I have heard and read so many different opinions and thoughts on this subject I really don't know what to think. I miss beer too!!!!! Especially when we are camping on the weekends. I was told by my Dr. no carbonated beverages. Now she seems to think once in a while is ok. I think it is a unhealthy habit and wasted calories, so they really push that it is not allowed. Like I say, I'm not sure what to think about it.

Oh..... thanks, I was drawing a blank!

The port (mine anyway) is no where near the actual band. Why would the port hurt? Strange. Wish you luck!

Having Some Pain On My Left Side.. 3 Weeks Post Op
TKW replied to Doweegirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had paid near my port (left side) for several weeks. If it is really bothering you, do not hesitate to call your doctor. -
Very good point! Being to tight is not the answer to the lap band working either!

Healthy foods go down, you just have to take your time. chips, Cookies, icecream go down easy because they melt or chew into mush or dust. And those who have trouble with solid foods like chicken or steak think they can't eat it. (i'm not saying some people can't) People learn what goes down easy and it just so happens to be the foods that got us to our over weight status in the first place. What we really need to learn is that solid protien is part of what makes the band work. We take small bites, we chew the dickens out of it slowly and it fills us up and keeps us full. I struggled like hell my first months with solid protiens... I can now eat anything... ANYTHING as long as I follow the eating rules. Small - Slow - Chew. I love my band but I am the only thing responsible for making the choices that make weight loss with the band work. And yes, I eat cookies sometimes, and I have ice cream sometimes but I know these things can not be a regular part of my diet. Best of Luck to you!

How Much Are You Exercising??
TKW replied to Bamabander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never exercised before the band. I started out walking on a treadmill at the gym then went to the elliptical. I just changed gyms a couple of months ago because I got bored with it and there were no classes offered at the hospitals fitness center. Now I do all sorts of things. Zumba, Body Pump, Water Aerobics and the elliptical still sometimes. On the average I do about 7 hr's of cardio a week and I will say it has, without a doubt, helped in my weight loss. -

Two Weeks Post-Op - Questions!
TKW replied to JessRess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mushies can be anything if you puree it. (never pureed a thing - icky) I lived off cottage cheese and yogurt. Scrambled eggs is another thing my dr. told me but I could not and still can not keep them down. Soups are good, mashed up veggies, like carrots. I just posted this somewhere else. I am a Water drinker, that is pretty much the only thing I drink however I do like crystal light. slice up some fruit and add to it, oranges, lemon, lime, pineapple. mmmmmm it's really good in the hot summertime! Nice beginning weight loss! Keep up the good work! -
maybe its water. Did you eat a lot of salty foods over the weekend? 1 pound is 3500 calories above and beyond what you burned. 7 pounds seems nearly impossible for someone with a band. Watch your sodium for a couple days then weigh again. Frustrating... I know. When I gain 2 I wonder "how the hell is that possible"!
