7 Weeks/1 Fill- Always Hungry & Eating Too Much
TKW replied to susiedreamer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Almost everyone of us were in the same situation. You should be eating 1 cup of food not 1/4 according to my Doctor. But they all have different rules. How can anyone survive on 1/4 cup. It will definately get easier. I eat grilled meat and veg all the time. You will figure it all out, it just takes time. Good Luck! -
Just eat healthy and exercise (easy to say huh?) Frustration makes me want to eat too. Hang in there!

Nearing My 2 Year Anniversary And Starting To Have Complications
TKW replied to LadyBoo45's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 2 years out also this June. Reflux is a sign of being too tight. I'd definately make an apointment. Like anything else, problems caught early enough are easier resolved. Good Luck! -
When Did Everyone Stop Taking Vitamins?

AMAZING!!!!! Nice Job!

I remember in my seminar, they said the number one reason for failure was not following up with your Dr. Make an appointment, it so important to keep you on track. Make sure when you eat you are eating protien first. It really does fill you up and keep you fuller longer. You need to get back to the basics of the band and get in and see your Dr. My brother had band surgery 3 months before me. He lost 80 pounds with no fill in his band and he has never been back to his Dr. He thought this was great. I've lost 152 pounds in 2 years and I bet I've been to my Dr. 15 times. He's put every pound back on....?

I have 5.6 cc in a 10 cc band. I was at 5.4 for more than a year but just had 0.2cc put in last week.

First Fill - Please Tell Me That Results Get Better!
TKW replied to LYBO1979's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was fortunate to have restricion right from the beginning. Eat healthy and exercise it will make a huge difference in your weight loss! Good Luck! -
First I've heard that one. I would think if you are exercising you are 4 - 6 weeks post surgery and you can drink all the water you want. Interesting, I have no problem drinking lots of water while exercising. Just take it slow, see how it feels, you'll know if it is too much at once.
-
I had that at first too. Now nobody even mentions it. I still have a long way to go. Somedays I will just be up 3 or 4 pounds, it used to kill me! I don't know what it is, cuz I would be doing everything pretty right then a week later those 3 or 4 pounds plus another 1 or 2 will be gone. Your body retains fluid, or maybe you haven't gone to the bathroom for a few days (I have this problem alot). Dont give up.... I started at 432. The journey has not always been easy but so worth it! I think the key is exercise (for me).

Great loss! My port has been tilted since the beginning. Almost 2 years! Keep up the good work!

New To The Site In Serious Pain :(
TKW replied to Krussell19's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
oesophagal dysmotility - my Dr. doesn't like to tight because of this. She says if you can feel the food sitting on top of your band it is too tight. You should eat and let each bite go through the band and it should only take a minute. If your oesopagus has to work and work to push the food through it can wear out the muscle and just quit trying. (another disadvantage for people who like their band really tight) I don't know if this is what is going on with you but could be. I have never read much on it, have just discussed with my DR. Best of luck to you! -
I don't feel anything (except I can feel my port if i touch where it is located) Other then that, you can't feel it inside you.

There is a lap band group already, and a Bariactric Surgery Group

21 And Hoping To Get The Lap Band
TKW replied to fashionista2009's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you LIndsey. Get super educated about the band and how it works and I'm sure you will be successful. Wow... wish I could have done it at 21. Good Luck -
Personally... I'd go for an unfill. I would be lost without my band and would hate to jepordize a slip by being over full. (just my 2 cents). Some people do adjust after a couple of days, so take it slow. Good Luck.

I use it all the time. It really helps me keep on track. There is nothing I put in my mouth that I don't log. I think their exercise calories are really high though... I usually shave a few off.
-
google the restaraunt you are going to. check out the nutritional Values. Any "chain" should have it on their website. Otherwise... go for protien like steak or chicken or fish/shrimp with steamed veggie as side.

Oh, that is too bad. I hope it is a fluke. Wishing the best for you.

3 Years Post Op And Have Gained Back Most Of My Weight
TKW replied to laurasweetlo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is my biggest fear. I have tried very hard to change my lifestyle permanently. I indulge once in a while, but I know that I could easily slip back into bad habits. I eat nothing without knowing exactly how many calories are in it, to a point of obsession. Granted there are times I eat a high calorie item anyway but I just don't and can't let it be part of my everyday life. I know you are having complications with the band, are you eating the right foods? Get back to the basics. Follow the rules, chew chew chew, eat slow, and small bites. I haven't been stuck in many months! I wish you luck! YOu can do it!
